  • Eos r6 Recording limit Test and overheating Fix Possibility
Are you looking for ways to overcome the overheating and recording limitation of the Eos r6 or Eos r5? This video has answers you might be looking for.
I have been running a series of overheat tests with the eos r6, but my finding or result, if you will, is going to surprise the heck out of you.
Okay, maybe that's just a little bit exaggerated.
But that does not undermine the fact that this video could be very useful irrespective of your camera brand, as long as it's a mirrorless camera.
Before I get to the solution of the problem, let's look at the overheat test.
Test 1. At the time of this test, the room temperature was about 20 to 30 Degree C, maybe about 80 degrees F.
My settings for this test. IPB format 24 FPS @ 1080p and 4k Resolution
The camera overheated at exactly 30 minutes of recording. And shuts down afterward.
Ensure to watch the video to the end because there is a possible solution.

Does that mean the 30 minute record limit is removed for internal recording on the canon R6? Like Sony’s?

Hey, my apologies for the late response. The test was just to demonstrate how long Eos r6 would last performing a live task. if you watch the end of the video, you see that it held the recording for a little less than an hour and it still overheated but didn't shut down. because I was recording externally. However, I believe that the subsequent firmware updates might remove the 30-minute in-camera recording limits

Nice, but you went from Canon R6 overheating possible fix to OBS. Not sure what OBS has to do with r6 overheating. I thought you had a solution to the overheating issues of Canon R6.

Thanks for your feedback. The camera's recording limit is also tied to its overheating problem. And one of the possible solutions was to set up a system where I was able to record externally from the camera. this is why I brought OBS into the experiment. With OBS I manage to record 1hr in 4k breaking the 30 minutes limit. But I still won't depend on it for long recording sessions. i hope this makes sense to you now. Thanks for your contribution.

@@SamOaCreative got it. The overheating has stopped me from getting R6 for wedding.

Good job, bro. These are good news. It'd be awesome Canon updates R6 one more time to record more time.

Thanks for the tips brother. A question on my side, does the camera also overheat at 1080p, because if it does , i should not do my purchase as i shoot weddings up to 8hours of footage sometimes.

Hey brother thanks for your comments. This camera hasn't really been built for long shoots even at 1080p resolution. Unless you rig it with and external monitor then you can achieve about 1hr recording at a stretch. Also if i were, i'd simply shoot the most important moments of the wedding and do the rest of the magic in post. Hope this make makes some sense. let me know if you more questions. #Eosr6 is a very good camera. its just best to have it in your hands, test it for your gigs. it could just be a solution for your need.

@@SamOaCreative thanks alot man, i think am gonna go with the eos r, i use 1080p for shooting ceremonies, they normally take about 2 hours the longest, so if it does overheat on 1080p,its not gonna work for me.
