    Thanks for doing tis video. Do you have to change any setting in-camera in order to bypass the 30 minute time limit? Also, do you have to do anything in-camera so that the Atoms doesn't record any of the display details? Thanks!

    So there is a difference between external monitor and hdmi recorder?

    • @jargonfreehelp
      @jargonfreehelp  6 місяців тому +1

      That is a very good question. Well I'm happy with using my HDMI recorder as an external monitor. It is good quality. Just bear in mind that there are some very expensive monitors that are different sizes and amazing resolution. But I'm happy with my Ninja V. Let me know what you do.

      Thank you for your reply 🙏🏾 i just launched a podcast but this 30 min. Limit is just a problem to me. Can i use my android phone as an external recorder to bypass this issue?

    • @jargonfreehelp
      @jargonfreehelp  6 місяців тому +1

      I think it might be. I use an iPhone and know that Accsoon has a solution to use the iPhone as a monitor and I believe it records too. I think if you search HDMI capture Android phone you might find what you are looking for. The 30 minute limit is annoying. Thankfully newer models are removing that. Although that doesn't help you right now.

    The minimum price of this monitor is $650 That's not including the hard drive the batteries Etc. For that you can practically buy a new camera that doesn't have this limitation. If you sell the camera that you have that has this limitation you can increase your budget even more. I really don't think this is a super viable option unless you are already wanting to spend money on an external screen anyways

    I'm looking for a minimalist one that will break the 30 minute recording threshold on a Canon EOS 80D, do you know of any that aren't as expensive?

    Hi, I’m looking to use my canon g7x Mark ii for podcasting, I can’t currently afford this hdmi recorder, will it work if I can plug it in to my max via hdmi ? Will that alone bypass the 30 minute limit? If not what’s a cheaper option? Thanks

      Hi, do you mean on your Mac, I know autocorrect can cause typos. That might well be possible using QuickTime Player with your camera connected. Do you have an HDMI video capture or are you going to use the EOS Webcam Utility to connect it to your Mac? Even if you connect to an HDMI recorder, the camera will still only record to 30 minutes but the other recorder will record more. Here is how to record using QuickTime Player if you haven't done it before ua-cam.com/video/Airpcfi1DZ4/v-deo.html

    • @nthetrainer1

      Yes on my mac* sorry; autocorrect.
      I’ve just found a similar thing on Amazon.
      The ezcap VHSdigi, would this be the same kind of thing? And would it allow me to bypass that 30 minute recording time? Thank you.

    That does not stop the 30 minute time out limit on video recording. That is a firmware issue with the camera because of tax laws in Europe that prompted them to do it to avoid the tax for a video recorder. It had nothing to do with the recording on the SD card. Even camera's sold in America got hit because they were selling the same camera in both Europe and other places in the world. We all suffer because of it.

    • @jargonfreehelp
      @jargonfreehelp  Рік тому

      That's correct. But with an HDMI recorder you can record on that for longer. If you're like me you don't want extra things to lug around. The more recent Canon cameras have removed the limit and I now have an R6 Mark II and it is a joy to record longer.
      By the way, this tax law also affected copying from mini dv to mini dv, I had a mini dv camera from Australia that did not have this problem.

      @@jargonfreehelp actually I don't record to either the internal SD card or tied to a direct connected SD storage device. Instead I use my Canon 90D as a webcam / podcast and it times out even with the latest firmware (it is 2019 though). I just bring the HDMI into an ATEM Mini and then that goes into my laptop. Very annoying. They need to update the firmware and get rid of that.

    Question, do you have to purchase the SSD separately? Also, does it record on the memory cards in the camera at all or can you record to both simultaneously?

    • @jargonfreehelp
      @jargonfreehelp  Рік тому

      Yes, the SSD is separate. You might find a retailer doing a deal for both. That depends on the camera. I know my EOS R5 does but I think some cameras it it one or the other.

    Many thanks! How do you then download the video from the recorder, say to edit it and then upload it to UA-cam?

    • @jargonfreehelp
      @jargonfreehelp  3 роки тому +1

      This is a good question. If it records on to a memory card like an SD card you can use a card reader just like you would use with memory cards from your camera. If it uses a hard drive you need a docking station. Atomos does one, but you can get cheaper SATA II connector, just make sure you have the right USB when choosing.

    AT 30 min Ninja V continues recoring but EOS R does stop correctt?

    • @jargonfreehelp
      @jargonfreehelp  2 роки тому +2

      Don't press record on the EOS R just on the Ninja V, make sure you have disabled power saving mode and eco mode off as mentioned in the video. It will then go until the battery on the camera runs out or on the Ninja V or run out of space. You could get mains adaptor for EOS R and your Ninja V should have mains power option with it.

    • @mambiproductions8960
      @mambiproductions8960 2 роки тому +1

      @@jargonfreehelp I did disabled power saving mode and eco mode. When I press record on Ninja V EOS R does not start recording.

    • @jargonfreehelp
      @jargonfreehelp  2 роки тому

      That's correct. If you record on the EOS R it will still only record 30 minutes, but the Ninja V will keep going. The point is the recording is taken off the EOS R. Also if you are recording on the EOS R at the same time it will use up more battery than if you weren't recording on the camera.

    In order to bypass the 30minute record limit, do you need to be using an HDMI recorder? Or will an external field monitor accomplish the same result? As far as I can tell the main difference is that the recorder actually writes to a hard drive, whereas the monitor essentially controls the camera remotely.

    • @jargonfreehelp
      @jargonfreehelp  Рік тому

      If it is recording on the camera it will still have the same problem however it is triggered. Some new cameras now have no 30 minute recording limit such as the Canon R6 mark II.
