    I am from Germany and I am very scared of the things that are happening here right now. As a young catholic woman it becomes increasingly harder to defend the church teachings while prominent figueres of the church preach the exact opposite. It seems kind of ironic that such a great division is again starting in Germany of all places. I pray that God will direct them back to the truth.

      I'm also from Germany, and sincerely thinking and praying about becoming Catholic.
      I recently had a conversation with two Catholic guys, that really started to separate from the Church. I was the one defending Catholicism, and offering some points of reconciliation. At the end of our hour-long conversation they both said that they really had come closer to coming to peace with their Catholic faith again.
      That was one of the most ironic episodes I had so far in my life.
      Gottes Segen aus Jena!
      J.

      That's a big part of why I respect him and regularly watch. He really does ask questions and press on points that skeptics like myself (I'm Catholic but find it hard to not be skeptical of almost everything, even if I really dislike most other skeptics and atheists as people and communities) are definitely thinking of when listening. I don't find other hosts and podcasts doing it quite like he manages to do. These discussions are definitely the most interesting in the Catholic media sphere as they hit a lot of the most important points of contention and not just preaching to the choir.

    On my journey to Catholicism at age 18 (now 19) I wanted to find a great book that simply explained and gave truthful reasons behind the belief in God, why it’s true, and how to follow him. John Bergsma’s book “Yes, There is a God” very easily broke down what I needed to know while still being fun and not overly theological, difficult or discouraging for an already confused and overwhelmed person, I highly recommend it for anyone in any circumstance it’s thought provoking while still being so simple and I just absolutely adore it. Thank you John and Matt for helping me on this adventure to God and His truth.

      The same thing happened to me, sort of. I left the church after the abuse issue became public. I tried many churches, but I was never comfortable in them. Now I am back, and attending a Latin mass, feeling at home, and facing having all that taken away from me. I think I might just attend mass on the internet when that happens, as it surely will...from the looks of things.

      Not really. If you read the bible you can see the horse manure coming out of this guys mouth trying to prove the pagan Roman priesthood.
      He contradicts the book of Hebrews which addresses very clear the supremacy of our lord christ priesthood over the O.T. priesthood . The church is under the new covenant we as church as individuals our body is the temple of the holy spirit and we offer our body daily as a holy sacrifice to Jesus but not for remission of sin because Jesus did it once and for all. He is our high priest.
      Theres no biblical support for The Roman priesthood, the R.C.C totally rejects Jesus sacrifice. Read Hebrews chapter 10. repent and run out of the church and accept jesus sacrifice.

      @@kronos01ful thanks. I said he makes it difficult. The main reason I listen to Matt is to understand how I can still protest Rome!! Like he says, you don't want to fight strawmen when talking to others. When the pastor complained about not being able to convince people works are important after conversation, the book of James came to mind.
      I do not think it has to be an us vs them as we make it out to be. Jesus brought people in with poor theology and looking at Peter, we find some continued to have poor theology but are still saved! His spat with Paul shows that..

      The Roman priesthood is satanic because it blaspheme the sacrifice and priesthood of Jesus and thr priesthood of the believer to reinstall priesthood thats been nullify. Theres no biblical bases for saying that the apostles became priest .not once jesus commission the apostles to be priest, what he did was to fill them up with the holy spirit to preach the Gospel preach the resurrection. The book of Hebrews clarify this amazing event that now because of jesus we can access God directly with out the need of a priest. Hebrews chapter 10.

I think they are game changers in the world of Christianity. I can't imagine how someone who grew up Catholic, left the faith, then spends time listening to these folks doesn't want to RUN back to the faith. They are so powerful in the way they communicate it. There was no love there and no forgiveness taught just ccd devoid of actual understanding. A bunch of kids who'd rather not be there with parents who just follow the motion s and act like the formula saves them. So I left. I want God and nothing less and after years of growing spiritually and healing in protestantism I am leaning towards orthodoxy. Prayers the Lord would lead me. ❤

    I am truly happy Dr Bergsma suffered the agony of allowing his soul to be opened because I do connect very much with the reality of the wonder of the Catholic awakening. I was born into Catholic and somewhere along the way I took a turn out and away. When it became an issue in my eyes, the farcical nature of Baptists and SDAs especially, I suddenly felt a need from the center of my sould to find out where I belonged and it began to emerge from the drowning Prot murky swamp that I had a Catholic living in me that was fist fighting with my resistance to going back to "that church". Suddenly after much study, and some from Dr Bergsma here too, that there was truth in "That Church". I have never been more Christian than I am now with eyes, ears, soul and heart wide open. I Am A Catholic, and that is not just OK, it is GREAT! 🙏🏻 And I'm from Grand Rapids too so, there must be a great spirit making its way around here.

    After being lost for about three decades, some force led me to those church doors, once a monastery, on a Tuesday morning on August 29, 2017. Looking back now, I gave up trying to find, there was no God, and had developed a disdain for Him; so I don’t know why I would walk into any church at that time and on a summer morning when I could have slept in. Everything changed the moment I stepped in. To top it off, I was alone in there; no other person in there. It was just Jesus, the angels, Blessed Mother and the profound LOVE and mercy of the Holy Spirit. It’s not human; it’s not of this world. I am an academic and like most, human reason and evidence is “god.” From that moment on, everything of me and of the world (past, present and what is to come) began to make sense. A lot has happened since then and a lot I was able to recall since my childhood. Since then I have been given many opportunities and moments that are little presents of love from God. I have had many child like moments that inspire child like awe and wonder; like a kid in Disney on Christmas Day. With that said, one of my greatest moments was my confirmation at 43 years old. When? In 2018 on Easter….sealed in the Holy Spirit on EASTER! Now that is a powerful statement

    How about our Catholic schools get behind teaching the truth for a start. I'm sorry, but in my experience, vocations to the priesthood for teens are discouraged at best, mocked at worst by many Catholic teachers. Don't get me started on the general consensus among Catholic school teachers on abortion, trans topics, feminism (3rd wave) etc...etc... It is so sad and very challenging as a parent. Lord have mercy on us all.

    21:54 Dr. Bergsma's elders would have encouraged and maybe even subsidized his advanced education, specifically so that he could become a Presbyterian/evangelical pastor. His consultation with them, his hesitation to go Catholic immediately, make sense as part of the conversion process. But ultimately, for anyone who's intellectually satisfied that our faith is true but worries they would be "ungrateful" to their parents or teachers by going Catholic (especially pastors), Jesus gives encouragement in John 4: "The saying is true, that 'One sows and another reaps.' I sent you to reap what you did not work for; others have done the work, and you are sharing the fruits of their work." Formation & pastorship are supposed to be for the people's spiritual good; don't let embarrassment about them hold you back from the very highest good that a Christian can receive.

    To the questioned asked: Why only male priests?
    I heard many women say it is not fair that the Church only allows male priests.
    I have also heard a man tell me he was mad at God. I asked why? He said because I am a man and I will never know what it feels like to have a life grow within me, no man can ever know only women. Why can't men be pregnant. Was God fair?
    Well taking these two points of view I asked Our Lord about this. I knew God is Just and Loving and has His design.
    What came to me was this:
    "Among females, they bring souls from God to earth. Then not to leave out males God choose some but few, to bring those souls back up to heaven. They give birth by Baptism and the Sacraments as Priests, and mothers give birth to souls on earth. It is a Divine Circle of Love. There is a circle in nature God's design and a circle in the spiritual sense. So that all things depend upon each other and no one can think they are not important."
    So you see woman, you a very special job that isn't done by males, with God female you make priests in your womb. That can not be done by males. So is God unfair?

    Man I'd love to hear more from Bergsma on biblical translations. There are so many discrepancies between my (protestant) bibles and Catholic teaching. One thing that I've had trouble with is that Mary will crush the head of the serpent - "blatantly false!" Ive cried every time I heard it - I had no idea that there was a difference in translation, I just thought Catholics read the bible wrong (I'm sorry guys! I repent.)
    But I wish he would talk about Luke 1:28 (I think 28? might be wrong) where the Angel says "Hail Mary, full of grace" in all of my translations it has been translated to be more close to "you who have been given grace" or something like that. Quite different!

    • @NicklasNylander87
      @NicklasNylander87 3 роки тому +2

      @Prasanth Thomas yet everytime one prays the Rosary one says "Hail Mary full of grace"..

    • @NicklasNylander87
      @NicklasNylander87 3 роки тому +2

      @Prasanth Thomas I pray the hail mary with "full of grace" I trust the church in that sense. It just didnt make sense to me biblically because the verse is translated differently in my protestant bibles :) thanks for your answers :D

    • @alhilford2345

      Go to St. Jerome's Latin Vulgate.
      "Illius" refers to either gender, his, hers, its; of him, of her, of it.
      The word has always been translated to indicate that Our Lady would crush the head of the serpent when she agreed to be the Mother of the Messiah. She is the human being that Satan fears the most.
      Satan was cast down from heaven because of his pride. He refused to adore the incarnate Jesus because he figured that he, Satan was far superior to any man, even a Man who was also God.

    • @alhilford2345
      @alhilford2345 3 роки тому +1

      "Full of grace..."
      Again, the Latin Vulgate has "gratia plena"
      " full of grace.
      ( I always trust St. Jerome)
      The Protestant bibles prefer "highly favoured" which sounds nice but has a different meaning.
      The Angel Gabriel addressed Mary not by her given name, but, as it were, by a new name, Full Of Grace.
      If Mary was full of grace there was no room in her body or her soul for sin.
      Hence the Immaculate Conception.
      Some people like to modernize the prayer by changing "thee, thine, thou" to you, your..., but the Vulgate uses thee...
      "Thee" is singular while "you" is plural.
      Thee, thou, thine are words still used in many parts of England, they indicate whether you are talking to one person or more than one.
      Similar to the French language.
      It really iritates me when people think they're clever by saying "...the Lord is with YOU..."
