I think the singular characteristic drawing me away from protestantism & toward Catholicism is the practice of confession. I'm under conviction that if I cannot profess my shame & guilt before mortal man, then surely at some level, I must also be trying to conceal my transgressions from my Lord & Saviour as well.
@@lexirae7889 That is an inciteful self reflection. We are told to confess and I believe that the Catholic church has the best formula for that based on the biblical call.
For what it's worth, Jeff Cavins Bible Timeline put me on the road to Christ I am currently on. I met him after he wrote "When you Suffer" which was also pivotal for me. I am now an Encounter School graduate praying for healing on the healing ministry team. His presence in my life was God's Hand and I am eternally grateful to both he and our Eternal Father. Thank you Jeff and Praise You Jesus!
Hi, sure, I have learned to become a person who prays in person to God for another Catholic/Christian to be physically healed. I am doing nothing but listening to the Holy Spirit and giving the Lord the option to heal someone miraculously if it is His will. Folks feel God's love and leave with a blessing or a healing. Often they see a healing days/weeks later. It has also happened immediately. Praise you Jesus!
Just to add, this is in conjunction with the Diocese of Trenton Catholic Charismatic Renewal which is under the Bishop and takes place after First Friday Healing masses, Eucharistic Encounter Nights and special events.
Jeff's Life on the Rock taught me so much when I needed it! I am a Catholic of the 70s & 80s so I didn't learn much. When I got to college, I searched for good resources to educate myself and Jeff's show was part of that. And now the Bible Timeline, and the Activated Disciple....etc Also, I'm a fellow Minnesotan. Once, up here in Duluth (many years ago) before we had a Catholic radio station, I was listening to the local evangelical Christian station. They were making certain typical anti-Catholic comments. I contacted the station and said if you're going to discuss Catholicism then have a Catholic on. I suggested Jeff. I also emailed Jeff about it. And that station did indeed contact him and Jeff was on their station. Thank you Jeff!
I have the Hallow app and I love listening to Jeff Cavin whenever he does the Daily Reflection lesson because he has such a soothing voice. I am an evangelical Christian and are becoming more interested in Catholicism. I also enjoy watching your videos here on UA-cam.
Matt, I have always admired the way you interview people. You don't dominate the interview, instead you skillfully steer the interview in the right direction with the right questions framed in the most appropriate way, getting your guests comfortable enough for them to share their best. Very much admire that plus the fact that you are very grounded. Thanks for what you do. God bless.
Just to say our Parish had over 30 receive first communion and confirmation. We had over 60 in our parish get baptized. It was a FULL house this passed vigil. I was pregnant with my little girl, Anna Sophia, when my husband and I got confirmed. We fought for and brought my husbands 18 year old brother into the church as well. So he was baptized, confirmed, and received first communion that day as well. He and my husband played apostles for the first time in our church at the feet washing. Now my mother in law is attending with us again. Im praying that my husbands other brothers, my father, grandmother and my husbands father join the church. I have however lost family over my conversion into the church. So around 90 in total baptized and received communion.
I am not Roman Catholic, but I have always appreciated Jeff Cavins, going back years ago watch him with Mother Angelica. Good to see this interview, reacquainting myself with Jeff Cavins. Appreciate the conversation
1:13:50 We still have the Mormons knocking on doors in our area. And every chance we have we evangelize to them. The best was while I was visiting my pastor at the rectory three Mormons came knocking and they had no idea what they were walking into. It was a great conversation and every time they come to mind, I pray for them.
Wow this is crazy, I’m currently going through Jeff Cavins and Father Mike Schmitz Bible in a year as well as there Catechism in a year! There ascension app is an absolute treasure of a tool for learning about Catholicism.
I'm going through the Bible in a Year podcast as well. I'm a Protestant Christian, and this has been such a good learning experience for me and a good introduction to the books that are not included in the Protestant Bible I have always read.
I absolutely HATE it as a mom when people tell me to "just get up earlier" to get alone time, or exercise time, or prayer time, or me time.... Look. I've had babies and toddlers in my house for 16 straight years almost. I've changed diapers nearly every single day of my adult life. I already get up at 5:30am just to get kids out the door for school on time and after 16 years of this, I've learned that if I get up earlier, SO DOES THE TODDLER. It doesn't matter which toddler. It doesn't matter if I'm quiet. It doesn't matter if it's 4am. Once I'm up, the toddler is up within about 5 minutes. Besides, if I took that advice every time some dope with 2 grown kids has given it to me, I just wouldn't sleep at this point. It's not helpful and honestly it's a bit accusatory. You may as well tell parents of small children they're just too lazy to get that quiet time they really crave and need. Maybe, MAYBE it works for some, but in 16 years it has never once worked for me and I'm certain I'm not the only one.
Listen, just eat breakfast the night before. That will save loads of time in the morning. You could also retrain your body to not need to pee in the morning, which gives you three extra minutes for your Me time. ❤
110% I'm going to have 5 kids under 10 years by the end of this autumn. There has never been any "getting up earlier" than any of them. I'm almost convinced there's some kind of secret alert system they've set up that tells them if I'm out of my bed longer than it takes to use the bathroom. Also... the "get up earlier than the kids" crowd must assume that none of the kids are still nursing, ever have nightmares, ever get sick, or ever get stressed out and have a hard time sleeping themselves, and require some amount of parenting between the hours of 9pm and 4am.
My husband always leaves Very Early for work. When our eldest was a toddler he had to move his keys to the back door because she would hear him pick up the keys as he was leaving (yes, from down the hall in the bedroom), wake up, and scream because Daddy Left. Also, sleep is very important 😂
I used to count nursing an infant/toddler with others asleep as “alone” time since that child would be quiet and happy as long as on me. 😂 Don’t forget too that you are in the trenches doing God’s work loving and raising those children each day. I’ve been a mother of 3 (with mild special needs) for 20 years, including running a home daycare for several of those years. I get up early still, but now I have problems getting people to just go to bed and be quiet, and instead of diaper duties I have chauffeur duties. It’s all good and we all need to pray for and support each other. ❤
You are doing God's work for you. Your body is a living sacrifice to God. My kids are weaned. God didn't give me a large family on earth. I have the youngest pile onto me to pray the rosary before we homeschool. If they ask questions about the faith we read the scripture about the situation.
Jeff Cavins has been such a blessing to our Catholic Faith. His Bible Timeline Study was amazing. Thank you Jeff for your works. You are one of my favorites!
This is my 3rd time listening to this episode.. I always have a good laugh and I needed it today. Thank you sir Jeff, sir Matt and Thursday for your work. May God bless us all..
In 2008 I attended the Great Adventure bible study in person with Jeff Cavins. It was AMAZING. I had read the Bible before, but never like that. It was a pivotal moment for me as an expectant mom. 10 years later I attended an Activated Disciple series with Jeff and Fr. Mike Schmitz. Life changing! I re-read the book whenever I feel myself becoming luke warm. That series brought my faith to a new level - to the level of action. I'm not afraid to share my faith with others. And my 5 kids WILL know the Kerygma and be able to share it with others as well. Thank you, Jeff! We're so lucky to have you here in MN. ❤
I loved this interview. I think I smiled the whole time. You two are wonderful together! I hope you get together again soon. Also, your story of Sarah made me cry. I don't cry often!
Hi Matt, you have, obviously, no idea how much we enjoy your shows! Don't ever doubt that. I have converted to Catholicism some 35 years back and am always learning, but most of all, LOVE Jesus, our Mother and the saints and of course, the MASS... I have brought people to the Faith, but give all glory and honour to Jesus Christ. Thank you to Jeff and the lovely stories that had me in tears... You are all such a wonderful example to us! God bless you and your families!🕯🕯🕯
This just may be my favorite epsode. All over the place. Lots of wisdom. Lots of laughs. Three lovable people, just enjoying themselves. Felt like I was really there with you!
I listen to Jeff Cavins daily reflections on the Gospel mass readings on Hallow, his insights are invaluable! I also love his Great Adventure Bible Timeline (& Bible in a Year) and his Catechism resources. He is doing great things for the glory of God! 🙏🏼😇
Always enjoy listening to Jeff, been through several of his bible studies and have always grown in my spiritual life. I like your longer programs because I feel like you don’t rush through and really get to know the person. Thank you, I really enjoy listening
Just love Jeff’s advice in just getting on with things .. to connect to Jesus fully … and stay on mission … ur so level headed and speak such truth. God bless you always .
I have a love-hate relationship with this channel and Matt…today ❤. I love this type of interaction…when Matt goes deep/philosophical my eyes glaze over and he makes me feel stupid and I hit unsubscribe…then a show like this finds my feed and I learn and grow so much and am left wanting more. Today…humbleness!
The best Pints ever so far 😂😂 I watched this over 3 days while on the elliptical and I laughed so hard and so much I almost fell off several times!! Thursday has THE BEST laugh 👌 Patina, guys ✌️😁
Jeff Cavins is the best I love the Great Adventure Bible on the Hallo app and I love Jeff's daily reflections on the gospel I listen to it every morning It's awesome. Thank you so much. You are a blessing!
At 2:15 Matt, I am the same! I get others riled up about something and then I lose interest and move on. I do this even when it is just myself. I get into something all-in then it's gone.
Damn I never really knew what that movie was about but I just read the plot and watched some clips. That movie is by definition satanic, especially the ending "lesson".
The film itself is one thing but the culture around it is another. The showings are MUCH worse than people might expect. It's a lot more than just an edgy movie showing lol
I listen to Jeff Cavin’s daily reflections and this was a real treat to watch this interview and get to know him better. He has been an amazing influence in my life for the last year to year and half. I really appreciate everything he puts into those reflections.
What’s great about PINTS is it gives the viewer an opportunity to hear so many intelligent and provocative voices with a moderator who knows how and when to ask questions, backed by Matt’s broad knowledge base. Keep using the gifts God has given you.
What a fabulous episode thoroughly enjoyed your interaction. What a blessing is Jeff Cavins, his Daily reflection on Hallow is included in my daily routine on the Hallow app. Jeff including Jonathan’s readings really brings the Gospel alive and his reflection after the readings are always illuminating and entertaining. Jeff also is associated throughout Fr Mike Schultz’s Bible in a Year at the commencement of some timelines which he created. Hey Matt love your Vibes with Aquinas Cath Lofti on Hallow ! PS stop slagging off at Jeff he brings the gospel alive it’s not a generational thing at all . I’m 40 and he’s got the gift of illuminating Gods word nothing generational about it at all.
This is treasure information! These Catholic theologians are reasons why America is more than her broken state. Out of the brokeness, come out explosion of grace, wisdom and power for America and the whole world.
Douay Rheims Bible is such an important bible for one to own, it is the true Catholic Bible. That doesn’t take away from how awesome the Bible in a year has been and how impactful it has been in my life. It has truly transformed me.
Bible in a year was the first time i had read the whole bible and it revolutionized my life because i now know the salvation story. I cannot repay the gift this has been.
I love The Terry & Jesse Show. They are evangelists on 🔥! Other favorites are Jeff Cavins and Fr. Mike's Bible and Catechism in a year and the Lila Rose Podcast.
The best response to “You’re just like your parent, “ is “Thank you, I love my mother.” I know some people have issues with your their parent, but it does take that button out of commission.
Good talk on owning a quality-bound Bible. I've found a very large print RSV-CE (not the NRSV) from Oxford University Press. I only wish that the Douay Rheims was published in a very large to giant print edition with sewn-in binding and leather cover.
Jeff was absolutely on fire, he and Matt were hilarious. Have to say he missed a chance in the last 10 minutes to stand up and say “I curse this show!”
I love Mother Angelica a lot. I live close to where she and her sisters used to live. I've done adoration at her convent a couple times. And I love the Wise house too. I knew Wise healed her as a kid but I didn't know she was healed twice!
Jeff Cavins reminding us to look at the beauty of Christ and not get distracted by all the polemics + doing apostolate and bringing people to Christ...is what we all need in today's age of infighting.
Really appreciated Jeff's argument for focusing one's life on Christ, regardless of what's happening anywhere. In good times, in bad times, that will always get us through. I'm also with Matt, on the importance of addressing difficult issues within the church for the sake of evangelizing, and especially as an apologist. While an individual christian, comfortable in his convictions, can tune out everything else, an evangelist or an apologist, couldn't possibly behave as though there aren't alternative views that may lead people to other expressions of Christianity via the exact same gospel. For most people, the gospel isn't necessarily a binary choice of either accepting of rejecting Catholicism. Therefore it seems to me that the gospel must address concerns about the condition of the church to which we want to lead new converts. It seems to me that I would want to have Jeff's attitude in my personal christian walk, while still properly addressing difficult issues as Matt does, for the sake of the gospel and apologetics.
I think it's actually easier to evangelize now days. People are so touch starved and lonely. They want to talk to strangers. I never start by bringing up God I normally end with him. Or drop a hint about the faith. People are normally so shocked to hear I'm catholic because of how I look that they actually start asking me questions. And sometimes I run into people who have kids who are neurodivergent like me and they need help. I had a lady I ran into monday who I gave a St Dymphina relic card too and she started bawling because her best friends daughter just committed suicide. And I was able to comfort her by giving her resources for her friend and their family. And she hugged me. (I know a lot about stuff like that because nerodivergent kids are far more likely to kill themselves then others. And I had to live through that. ) The issue I have is getting time to be outside to talk to people at random. Ya know what I mean. (Also just to clarify God did the Evangelization thing in me. I can't do anything without him.)
If every Catholic person did like Jeff and made their goal to walk with Jesus every moment of the day and share their love for him our Church, His Church will remain strong!🙏💒🔥🌹
I love the comfortable, long discussions. These sessions are wrapped around the Catholic church, and Matt is a great Host. People that are not Catholic can see we love Our Church, and we have many, many conversions. Most of these guests are converts, who love us and our Catholic church, who want to teach to anyone that will listen what they discovered. Come to the Catholic church, come to a full understanding of Christ, come to be in His Presence in the Eucharist, come. God bless you.
❤❤❤prayers for the intentions of Pope Francis, all priests and religious and all of our brothers and sisters in need of prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen. ❤❤❤
I'm lifting up prayer for the intentions of Jesus's most sacred heart. For the salvation of souls, the forgiveness of sins, and the reunion of all Christians🙏🙏🙏 I was born and raised Lutheran, influenced by a number that studied theology, but the desire of my heart became for the Real Presence in the Eucharist. I just felt it, was drawn to it when I attended Mass. Recently ran across a quote, instead of trying to influence the liturgy, let the liturgy transform you. I was fully initiated into the Catholic faith about 14 years ago. I've been Christian since I was baptized at 6 mos old. I don't like the terms "protestant" and "convert". Both are very ambiguous terms - even "tribal" in a way.
I’ve always wondered what Jeff thinks about the TLM? Scot Hahn has found it pretty recently it seems and it seems to have affected him greatly. I do really appreciate all the work jeff has done in the Church. I still use his Bible timeline series.
I do like that Matt admitted to being envious or pride-fiiled at times. We all do. We are flawed. We battle pride every day, but spiritual battle is necessary to get off the broad road to destruction.
Matt, I’m on a journey towards converting from evangelical/charismatic/Protestant to the Catholic Church, I’m in the early stages of RCIA and your show has been INSTRUMENTAL in me opening my heart to the Catholic Church. Jeff Cavins cursing rocky horror picture show is incredible. Something in me told me not to watch that even before I converted
At 2:15 Matt, I am the same! I get others riled up about something and then I lose interest and move on. I do this even when it is just myself. I get into something all-in then it's gone.
This was hilarious... Literally haven't laughed this much on any other episode 😂
Matt you need to bring him on to interview you
Wonderful talk, thank you both ,you are great Men 💯 God bless you both ❤️🙏
Can confirm: walking into a Rocky Horror Picture Show showing is like walking into a den of iniquity.
My favorite episode thus far!
Dear Jeff, Matt, and Thursday. You have made a difference in my faith life. Thank you.
What’s great about PINTS is it gives the viewer an opportunity to hear so many intelligent and provocative voices with a moderator who knows how and when to ask questions, backed by Matt’s broad knowledge base. Keep using the gifts God has given you.
Fantastic show. Thank you to everyone involved.
Jeff Cavins is a saint among us! Thank you Jeff for all you have done for the Christians.
Thank you for the Sarah story ❤
I LOVE Jeff’sDaily Reflection on Hallow!!
I'm really enjoying the patina of today's show
Matt I love you’re content !! God Bless !!
I’ve got to listen to your sleep story on Hallowed Matt 😂!
Love you Jeff, Matt, Thursday, and all those you love. ❤
This is treasure information! These Catholic theologians are reasons why America is more than her broken state. Out of the brokeness, come out explosion of grace, wisdom and power for America and the whole world.
What a great and inspiring conversation. Thank you.
Embarrassed to say I was a Rocky Horror fan back where it was born at the 8th Street Playhouse. TU for the story, Jeff! Fantastic
Thank you for helping me to feel so blessed.
Great show!
this was so much fun, thank you guys!
Great interview.
1:00:59 I so appreciate what Jeff Cavins has to say about keeping our eyes on Jesus! He's an absolute treasure. Thank you, Jeff! ❤
Jeff was absolutely on fire, he and Matt were hilarious. Have to say he missed a chance in the last 10 minutes to stand up and say “I curse this show!”
Love the daily reflection with Jeff Cavins!
❤daily reflections w Jeff Cavins on Hallow
Jeff Cavins is awesome!! His BIY changed my life. It was so fun to get to know him in this interview.
Leave Jeff alone! I like the old school style. I listen to enough podcasts. It will come back into style soon because we’ve had enough casual.
I love Jeff and I so appreciate his daily reflections on Hallow and everything he does. This was a really good podcast. Thank you Matt. God bless!
I enjoyed this so much!!! Really enjoyed the comedy!!😅
I love Mother Angelica a lot. I live close to where she and her sisters used to live. I've done adoration at her convent a couple times. And I love the Wise house too. I knew Wise healed her as a kid but I didn't know she was healed twice!
I've listened to Jeff for so long and yes, it's very theatrical! I love it! He brings life to it.
Jeff Cavins reminding us to look at the beauty of Christ and not get distracted by all the polemics + doing apostolate and bringing people to Christ...is what we all need in today's age of infighting.
I hear Jeff Cavins and I think of all the talks he had with fr. Mike Schmitz on his podcasts and me listening to him whilst going on with my life.
And I had to live through that. )
The issue I have is getting time to be outside to talk to people at random.
Protestant here: I'm praying for the Roman Catholic church.
I’m going to pray for you Wes.
Thank you Wes and God bless you🙏
❤❤❤prayers for the intentions of Pope Francis, all priests and religious and all of our brothers and sisters in need of prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen. ❤❤❤
I'm lifting up prayer for the intentions of Jesus's most sacred heart. For the salvation of souls, the forgiveness of sins, and the reunion of all Christians🙏🙏🙏
I was born and raised Lutheran, influenced by a number that studied theology, but the desire of my heart became for the Real Presence in the Eucharist.
And we are praying for you brother!
What a lovely Guy. So genuine and funny. And Matt, you are irreplaceable !
Wonderful. So many laughs as well as inspiration.
I’ve always wondered what Jeff thinks about the TLM? Scot Hahn has found it pretty recently it seems and it seems to have affected him greatly. I do really appreciate all the work jeff has done in the Church. I still use his Bible timeline series.
We also use the 20 minute Rosary on UA-cam to keep us on track after our intentions.
Loved loved the whole episode! Laughed a few times and cried too. Thank you Jeff for keeping your focus on Jesus! ❤
Jeff Cavins is a real one.
I do like that Matt admitted to being envious or pride-fiiled at times. We all do. We are flawed. We battle pride every day, but spiritual battle is necessary to get off the broad road to destruction.
Matt I ❤ your show 😊 You have a really great sense of humor & people relate to you.
Gosh I love this channel!
