I just came into the Church this Easter vigil, and my background is Pentecostal. This episode was good medicine for my soul! I struggled with my giftings so much because I didn’t know where or if they could fit in. Hearing this affirms that there is a place for what the Spirit has gifted me in. There is a place for the movement of the Spirit in the Church. There is a place for renewal. This makes me so excited! And so thankful for my background…that when combined with the liturgy and the community of the Church, I can find my place and be used by the Lord in His Church. Thank you both for this conversation. All you have to do to follow along with the Latin Mass is to read your English/Latin Missal in English! And you can follow what the choir is singing by looking at the Latin.
It gets pretty bad, I don’t think most traditionalists in the USA would have a problem with it if it was reverent but it really does feel like we are mocking the Eucharist during the liturgy
Charismatic protestant here. I’d love to share my experiences in investigating Catholicism and hear from some of y’all regarding some of issues that concern me. It bothers me that conversations like this seem to be the exception, not the rule, within Catholic circles. I have not converted to Catholicism primarily due to the lack of focus amongst Catholics on cultivating a personal relationship with Christ and what seems to me to be an overt neglecting of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. I’m unfamiliar with the Carismatic renewal in the Catholic Church so I can’t speak to that, but it strikes me as very disappointing that many Catholics seem to have to apologize for experiencing the emotions that come from encounters with the Holy Spirit. I understand Catholics experience the Lord through the Eucharist, but why isn’t it that more Catholics aren’t walking in the power of God and operating in the gifts? The only “on fire” Catholic on PWA I have seen was on fire for Mary, and barely spoke about Jesus. The church I go to is solely focused on ministering to the heart of Christ. Miracles are the norm at a weekly church service and I have seen more people walking in power there than anywhere else. You can’t fake the indwelling of the Spirit. Where, if at all, is there space in the Catholic Church to surrender to the Holy Spirit and making room for him to move among yall? My concern is that many aspects of Catholicism seem to place barriers between the Believer and the Lord. E.g. -The assertion that the quickest way to Christ is through his mother, and this notion of praying through Mary to Christ. -the mediators of priest between the lady and the Lord -Necessity for confession to be through a priest, as opposed to directly to Lord -The inclusion of praying to Saints for intercession We have direct access to him through his blood. The whole purpose of Christ coming here was to reconcile us to the father through his new covenant and reestablish the relationship that was in the garden of Eden. We are called to walk in the light as He’s in the Light. We can’t do this without the Holy Spirit. If Catholicism is the true faith, then why do they seem to be so many hindrances to directly accessing God? I’m asking all these with a curious and humble heart, not to stir up division. I am sincerely interested and I feel grieved in what I’ve seen amongst Catholic teachers.
I'm SO EXCITED! I've only watched the first hour but I am so completely jacked up realizing the potential of this moment and what I feel Holy Spirit is doing! I am a lifelong Christian, new Catholic. My parish is St. Philip de Neri in Vonda, Saskatchewan and listening to the stories shared about our patron was awesome. What I love about the current time is that we can embrace some of the beauty of Vatican II while also bringing the traditional back. I wear a veil of my own choice and receive on my tongue on my knees. I have the freedom to cling to the stability of the past while enjoying some of the newness of N.O. mass. It's truly beautiful. We really have more in common than not and I think we need to buckle up, because Holy Spirit is moving!
Oh and! We the laypeople can run all kinds of exciting things outside of the mass. I've been leading novenas and using our church building to pray and fellowship in exciting ways. There are times for praise and worship without messing with the beautiful Mass. One step at a time toward Jesus in the Eucharist...then when we are filled we overflow into the rest of the building, community, country, world! God is good!
Thank you for bringing up the LGBTQ situation! No one wants to talk about it! Sanctity was more possible when sin did not permeate into everything. As a revert to Catholicism, having a holy pope is essential!

BEST talk I’ve heard on the channel🥰🙏🏽❤️
Great Bishop! So real honest and forthright! Wish we had more of him in the USA! Thanks Matt for doing this interview!
Stumbled across your podcast last night while listening to Christmas music. Listened all night and still listening. Excellent. Thank you
Everything about this interview has been emphasized in my Soul in where I have gone wrong. I feel convicted with many things mentioned wow!
Bishop McCaig has a great balance to him.
This was amazing. You know he speaks truth because his words gives peace.
Absolutely bishop Scott, the moment joy, beauty, humility, patience, love and peace are not part of ourselves and all we do is complain and feel anger we’ve stopped listening to God or letting his presence touch us.
I’m a charismatic Christian and I’m impressed with what Bishop McCaig said. Without relationship all we have is the mind. Jesus Is my friend because that what he said He is.
I am keeping myself in the closet as a Christian for the time being as I don't want my family to see me as overly zealous. My spiritual life has ebbed and flowed, but I want to be sincere. And I don't want to fail again. For their sake as well as mine. This channel is such a boon to my personal and family life. Thank you Matt, again and again.
Worth listening too
11:43 in. St Mary’s church Ottawa, my parents were parishioners when things were “stale”. They literally said it was like a wave of the Holy Spirit overflowing, the church became packed! But they told me that they just remember welcoming the Holy Spirit and giving permission before that catalyst- amazing, praise God 🙌
What a beautiful interview, thank you, Your Excellency!
I hope for all listeners that each feels the powerful message of Christ through this interview. I sooooo needed to hear this; I so need to now replace my anger with gratitude for this awakening, and use my passion for Him and with Him.
Even though it was riddled with blasphemy?
This was gold. Thank you
I sure hope this bishop ,will be at the indpls eucharistic Congress in July 2024 .. I would love to meet him and listen to him preach ! Amen God Bless you both
Thank you for the information section where the interview is given in parts! Maybe it was always there, but I have just discovered it and it is very helpful this evening as I have time only for ONE part! Also, ditto to all positive comments below!!
This was a really great discussion. Thank you
I revisit this video frequently, it’s one of my favorites. I wish Matt had on more clergy like this, there are many and we need to hear them. 😊
This was a truly beautiful conversation and it stirred a lot of beautiful movements in my heart. Thank you Bishop for doing the interview even though it made you nervous. Thank you Matt for inviting him on. Thank you to the editor who put in all the time stamps so I can go back and find the parts that touched me the most! Praise God for our Church and how He brings us all together in such peculiar ways, including through the Internet
That has to be one of the best talks I have ever listened to about our faith, what has gone wrong and what we need to regenerate our faith, our church and our part to play in it. Amazing, amazing, amazing, thank you so much Pints with Aquinas and Bishop McCaig!!! God bless you both for the good you bring to the world.
For some reason I didn’t think I would enjoy this video, turns out I think it might be the best one yet
Bishop Scott McCaig is showing what Great belief, faith, Holiness, and prayer can be like in the Post Vatican ll world today! Does great Faith still exist today…yes!!! Just look and listen to Bishop McCaig!!! God bless him and you…+Fr.James
The heart we talk about is not the organ. And its not situated where the organ is, it’s literally in the middle of our chest. The center of our being.
The spiritual heart opened, breached through God’s love is magnificent
Wonderful interview and Bishop. Thank you
Time just fled!!! I think this might be the most beautiful interview so far... Well, I have thought that many times... But really, this one gave me a lot to think and reflect about... Thanks and God bless you both
Amen to your guest and what he is saying in Christ if you have ears to hear
So proud to hear Bishop Christian Riesbeck's name on PWA! He's our bishop here in little old Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada! It is a huge blessing to have him; he is faithfully pursuing God's work day in and day out. He should be your next guest, Matt!
I second that suggestion ;)
My favorite interview. Thanks for having him on!

Truly a great interview. Thank you Bishop - Canada is blessed to have you.
My mentor at work recommended me Crucial Conversations. Pretty helpful when working with people. Also helps you realize when you are making things worse, too. Of course, it's still hard to do perfectly.
I'm loving bishop McCaig !!
I've been a Catholic for about 12 years, and I've never felt like I belonged. I really miss the zeal and fellowship of Protestantism. I'm not going anywhere, as I came into the church out of obedience, not emotion, but it's incredibly lonely.
Have you read scripture?
How do you enter out of obedience as an adult? Marriage?
I'm so sorry youre lonely. What a beautiful soul you have to stay out of obedience. I will be praying for you to find good community and fellowship. God bless!
Worth listening too!
Amen to your guest and his chapel, who is witnessing to you 👉🏽👍🏽
Great interview!
This is an excellent interview! Thanks Matt!
This was amazing to listen to.
Matt, he already gave you a heart and a breath so we don’t have to witness to our souls on our dyslexic cue/Quay
Matt - this holy man was your Spiritual Director? Wow, What a blessing!
г 8:16 бо 8:17
Matt, thanks for your heart to heart in Christ.
Wonderful interview!
I needed this one.
Matt! You have been interviewing a lot of Priests lately and I thank you so much for it because I have been loving it so so much.
Please please please invite Fr.Dominic Legge OP onto the show!
Wonderful talk
I am like that. my conversion to believing in God is from the brain. my faith and my love for god is sadly not as strong. and I don't know what to do about it
I would love to hear you interview Bas Rutten sometimes. He's a legendary old MMA fighter who became a very serious Catholic a few years ago. He speaks about his faith often and would make a great guest!
I could listen to Bas talk about anything lol
spiritual diretor and director of formation, terms, new to me❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow!!!! Just wow ❤️
1:07:10 alot of truth and wisdom there
All you have to do to follow along with the Latin Mass is to read your English/Latin Missal in English! And you can follow what the choir is singing by looking at the Latin.
What an amazing interview. Just loved. I feel like being preached to for 2 hours. All on fire 🔥
Thank you Bishop McCaig for your love and Devotion to Christ. Its a blessing to hear you speak, you and all bishops and priests are in my prayers 🙏
Great discussion. I sent this link to the severely cessationist Logical Bible Study.
Amazing
How bad must the Novos Ordo Masses be in the west? We in Africa love our non Gregorian chants just fine.
It gets pretty bad, I don’t think most traditionalists in the USA would have a problem with it if it was reverent but it really does feel like we are mocking the Eucharist during the liturgy
I totally agree with you!!! Alleluia for mass in our mother tongue, our songs, our culture!
We have novus order but our pastor was also reverently celebrated he was knew John Paul and was very traditional
When u fall asleep and wake up 1:16:55 into whatever this is
"We don't need more good ideas, we need more Good News"
Cool interview !
-the mediators of priest between the lady and the Lord
-Necessity for confession to be through a priest, as opposed to directly to Lord
-The inclusion of praying to Saints for intercession
We have direct access to him through his blood.
The Music should always be in harmony and reflect the Readings for the mass.
Finally.
