Hopefully this is ok tip for me to get - something I enjoy while racing online! Letting other drivers suffer a little bit more with my "passive defence" strategy! :) Check KRyan channel as well! ua-cam.com/channels/p3-mPwNgifEtITs1Bvyj4g.html
I've been watching a lot of your content lately. Your my new favorite sim racing channel. How could you not love sim racing seeing how happy it makes you. Love it bro!
Good god I look good! This was a great fight. It is so fun being able to drive wheel to wheel with somebody you know you can trust not to just turn in to you. Hopefully many more battles to come!
Great video. What I'd add to this is that you have to practice taking different lines. It's amazing how terrible guys are at the first couple of corners on any track, for example. Practice your starts taking the inside line and outside line. Practice having to hold an outside or inside line on multiple corners. Practice all positions on all corners. Hotlapping is great but you shouldn't spend 100% of your time on the racing line because you'll never spend 100% of your time on the racing line if you ever want to pass anyone!
Bro there is nothing i can say more but thank you thank you thank you like a lot so many things you've explained so far and i gain from 2 to 4 sec i swear just from listening to you my note book getting bigger and bigger each time see you next time
One thing to note is that this only works against relatively good drivers. If you leave the door open for a bad driver, there's a decent chance they'll still manage to outbrake themselves and hit you when you're on the outside despite leaving them space. In lower levels of racing it is just better to keep the door shut and not give them any ideas.
Cool pointing that out to the masses Jardier. :) I was/am doing that online since GPL days. btw, this kind of normal defending is written down as the only defensive option in the 'SkipBarber Going Faster' book. If the guy behind you was able to get next to you he deserves a chance to pass you... but don't give it up just stay strong on the outside as you are saying. You can even practice the outside line in warmup/practice (just pretend there is a car inside :P ) The main problem is that the lobby dudes are learning from F1 drivers these days... who block the shit out of anything. And even ram you to the grass if you are on the outside, and scream that corner was mine! F1 racing rules are such a mess. Great Video!
Yesterday I had a nice overtake at VIR. Was driving side by side towards T1 in the Caterham and I was on the outside, so usually not where you want to be. I thought, he probably is braking late so I can't do it later, so I was braking more early, he overshoot a bit and the inner line was free. I had the better exit and he got small in the mirror soon. So one example of a bad defence and why braking early can be better for defence and attack as well.
i think this strategy will work UNLESS the corner has an high-degree radius (>90 degrees): that's because carrying speed is more difficult and there's more distance to cover on the outside compared to the inside. as far as my style, I'm a passive-aggressive attacker (LOL): i don't try at every single corner but I'm trying to be literally a shadow to the person in front. ideally his rear view mirror should only have a giant picture of my car and force into a mistake. unfortunately i'm not that good so i often fail but it's satisfying when I manage to pull that off :D
This is pretty much how I defend! The other benefit is if for some reason they outbreak themselves (or divebomb you) it's so easy to get the cutback on them. Saying that I much prefer attacking to defending! Maybe it's because I spend most of my time in public lobbies at the moment but you dont need as much trust in the other driver when you're the car behind!
This was a really great video and insight. Loved it! I prefer defending; I feel I can read others' actions well before they make them. I struggle with attacking though. I lose visibility when I'm behind another car and lose where I am on the track. So I end up making mistakes! That includes running wide, turning in too early or too late or even hitting the guy infront. I lose all my consistency. How can I improve this please?
I am more passive aggressive defending. If i know the driver is clean, ill try to get him on exits but give them space. I am a lot more passive early in the race but more aggressive after a couple laps
Just came out of a race in iRacing. Going towards Indianapolis from Mulsanne corner. Guy is on the inside of me, i'm on the outside. He backs out of it 50 meters before the corner. I was like, ok thanks I guess? He was in the better postion, if he went wide he would have punted me off. Yet he decided to not even bother and just back out.
For me it depends on the race, for short races (up to 2 hours) i to agressive, and attacking a lot. Over 2 hours i tend to get more into the netrual state, where I almost dont attack at all.
I tried this technique into T1 at Barcelona, the guy was surprised that I left the door open, hit the inside curb and braked very late as well, it forced him into mistake.:S Since than I just carried more speed and outraced him in rest of the race.
This is true in 0.000001% of the cases. Online doesnt matter if you leave space, leave the door open. When someone gets close to you he will ram you if you dont back up. Let them go, they are either much-much faster then you (1%) or you will see them in the gravel the next corner (99%).
Overcareful consistent here. I am not superfast but I don't crash, and I rather let the defender / attacker go than risk a crash. Old rally habbits: survival uber alles. "Trust in the other": that's what I haven't got. Public ACC lobbies even with high SA (too easy to farm) are divebombs and no mirror/radar/spotter hotlapping every single race. It might be just one or two guys but they always ruin the race for me if I try to trust them.
Thanks for the great video Jardier! Sharing your secrets! I much prefer attacking, but I'm not super aggressive - I prefer to pressure the driver in front into a mistake so I can take advantage. (I'm sure all of the explanation is bullshit - it's all Jedi Mind Tricks!!)
May i request that you start to add some form of category to your video titles please? Obviously, i'm going to watch all of your videos but if i want to go back to a video some time in the future, without a category abbreviation/word in the title, it'll make it much harder. At least with a category in the title, i can narrow down my search. It's just a thought. Not a compliant. I'm not going to whinge if you don't like the idea. 5 stars: A++++ UA-camr! Would watch again! Great content creator!
I only enjoy the attack because I can always trust myself......on defense, I have to trust the guy behind me is going to respect the race. I shouldnt have to think about the guy behind me, whether or not he will lunge up the inside from a half a second back. Unfortunately I do have to. I have to keep my eye on the radar so i can try and Dodge an idiot who out braked himself for no reason. I try not to attack until late in the race regardless. Anyone on super attack mode on lap 1-5 of a 20 plus lap race is a fucking idiot and they can just have the position so i can race properly and do my thing. Chances are, I will pass them eventually anyway. Slow but steady in races over 10-15 minutes long........sure a 4 lap 15m or less race, I will expect everyone to attack quickly and be idiots. So I try to avoid those quick ones. Only do medium or longer My money will always be on ME, I will always trust myself to attack, get around clean and exit faster. Either way......such a fun time to do both. Nothing better than battling for a position in front of you then realize you have dropped back and now are in need of defending WHILE attacking as well. That is a recipe for a sweaty, anxious race......but fun, good, clean racing. When it happens.
80% percent of the drivers dont wanna hit you?? 🤔I must be stuck with the other 20% lol

When I defend I defend hard, when I attack I attack very hard. When I drive I always think Senna - If you dont go for a gap that exist, you are no longer racing driver -. I dont really give a fuck for SA. I just push, push and push but I always do those attacks clean and respectful.

jardier: "70 - 80% of the drivers online they dont wanna crash you"
Monza open lobbies: "HaHa CaR gO bOoM bOoM"
I am so sick of open lobbies
yeah but that's mostly because Monza is home of the noobs in basically any racing game lol
🤣
Hahaha

Finally, i was wondering if you had a YT channel
Was awesome watching you and Jardier battle at Spa. Hope to see many more battles between you 2
Cereal Killa Me too mate! He’s one of the best to fight on track with. Always super aggressive but fair
Growing as one of my favourite youtubers as time goes on. You really got the whole vibe of a great enthusiastic creator!

Love your position approach, and your humor
Thanks for the video Jardier !
I'm the aggressive driver who only wins the race in turn 1
Haha, you the most aggressive driver I know mate. But you not dirty 🙂👍
super video, keep up with good work!
very nice that you are making videos again!

Punt them is my favourite agressive overtaking tactic 😈
Its the best workng tactic by far
I think I've raced you ;)
@@winodogs9691 was it in public lobbies 😂😂 everyone has then
@@fairweatheri I've been punted a lot recently
all experienced GTS players use it
Jardier these videos are so helpful... good job man 👍. To answer your question, I actually enjoy defending against a faster drivers.
You need some big balls to attack on the outside like that! It definately works when you can pull it off at this level!
If in doubt flat out 🏎️💨
i think this strategy will work UNLESS the corner has an high-degree radius (>90 degrees): that's because carrying speed is more difficult and there's more distance to cover on the outside compared to the inside.

We will never forget Ryan and Ryan
I'll try that!
i'm always afraid of a guy in an hard braking zone.

im very aggressive when overtaking but clean so it all works out my guys that i race with call my a big balls racer cus ive no fear in any overtake
This was a really great video and insight. Loved it!

I will do next video about overtaking! GOnna be like 10 hours long! :D
Great video! Cheers from Africa!
Grande Jardier, il mio simdriver preferito ;)

Yeah always be smart about it! Nothing worse than driver who is holding every possible angle even in grass in first 10minutes of 12h race :D
Hopefully this helps me for my first league race tonight 😆😆
Good luck!:D
Thank you ☺️
Good luck - I'm sure you will do well :-)

Complete opposite to me. Mine is get passed as cleanly as possible but also as fast as possible haha
Im Not fast enough for attacking, but (if i can) i like to chase the car in front.
I hate defending getting nervous and let to much space xD
I make less mistakes when defending, when attacking I find myself altering my normal racing line.
This is true in 0.000001% of the cases. Online doesnt matter if you leave space, leave the door open.

Yeah I would say that against 80% of drivers online your are better off preventing rather than inviting a divebomb.
If you can actually read the divebomb you can avoid it as well :D
"and also trust the other driver", this is whats not working for me in PC2 public lobbies... :)
of course this driving as said cant be used all the time to everyone. Specially not PC2 public lobbies :D
There is only one proper defending technique: drive faster than anyone else on track 😜
Thats what i do
Overcareful consistent here. I am not superfast but I don't crash, and I rather let the defender / attacker go than risk a crash. Old rally habbits: survival uber alles.

I don't know why people worry about defending, its the absolute most fun you can have in sim racing imo.
prefer attacking
i like defending because i am actually pretty decent at that
I'm too slow to be either of those types.
May i request that you start to add some form of category to your video titles please?

1st thing i thought when the video started was is this how you defended against Ryan 1?? 😂😂
