My dad went to see one of these shows, and he said during Mother at the “should I trust the government” part the audience would shout “NO!”
that's become a tradition since then...i was at the recent Waters' "Wall" tour, and that happened during that part.
and after that we all say yes to vaccine mandates.
And in the Roger projections it says “No Fucking Way!”
So which show? Date?
@@metallurgicono “we” didn’t. I told them to get stuffed
It's crazy to think that one of the, if not, the most legendary tour of all time lost as much money as it did...
And then Roger made all that money back decades later lol.
It sounds like they nearly broke even. If so, the simple at of touring probably would have generated enough album sales and T-shirts to eventually net a profit. Moreover, nearly every single person who saw the concert probably bought a movie ticket for _The Wall_ - with popcorn! - thereby generating additional non-tour revenue.
The goal was not to lose or make money. The goal was to make a legendary show that would be remembered forever.
These are so well done! It’s kind of poetic that a channel that has such great production talked about a tour that had so much effort put into it
And all that with a well mannered language, without squeeky Noises and flashy screens. Very well done
Noticing a trend with The Wall and everything to do with it
Nightmare for them to create it, but payed off in the long run.
Hope this blows up. Really helped me understand the band and this album better.
I saw Floyd perform The Wall live, in L.A. in February, 1980. The BERST concert I ever went to!
Where? The forum?
Sports Arena.
How was the experience? And what show did you go to? Do you have the original ticket stubs or any of the merchandise? If so, could you send pictures of them?
In 2012, I saw Roger Waters perform a full Wall concert at Yankee Stadium and he ROCKED!!
Saw him last year (not the Wall per se) and it was so epic. Also with lsd ;)
I it the wall show since 2012 in San Francisco. Amazing
How I envy that!
I was there too! Phenomenal!
Proof that he doesn't need PF
So sad.. Only 10 minutes : I could have watched an hour of this.. Excellent production! Thanks... Can't wait for Part 3
I saw the wall at Earls court in 1980 and again in 1981 when they filmed it to get footage for the movie (that was never used)
The Wall at the Berlin Wall was an ultra high moment in history!
My father was one of the few who saw the original wall concert, god bless him, I have the t shirt he got from the gig.
I love the emotional feeling during "goodbye cruel world" when he is behind the wall, when the song finishes, the hole that you see him through is filled with the final brick.
I don't know much about Pink Floyd, but this video got me pretty excited to start listening to them.
yeah they're pretty good. you should also check out a band called The Beatles. Also pretty good, but a little different.
@@WaterTheDesert both druggies
I have seen Pink Floyd Live (pulse tour) and also Roger Waters Wall tour twice. Best concerts I ever saw by miles, and I have seen a hell of a lot of concerts.
Mad respect man, keep up the good work
This show seems so advanced for it's time
I'm typing this while sitting in my bunker here behind the wall.
Nice video, Vinyl Rewind! My favorite channel and album!
Saw the wall in NY and it was the best concert I ever saw
Scalpers tickets and 6 rows from the front
This is wonderful work. Well done - and please continue with these uploads. The show must go on!
This is really well done. The presenter is nearly perfect in his presentation .. not getting too "fan excited" but yet conveying peaks of the story. His look is excellent with outstanding hair and attire. The set is very well lit and thought out. The voice cadence for a long format presentation is done very, very well and never becomes boring .. nor tiring. A perfect blend. The audio quality is excellent. I truly have nothing negative to say about the style and personality of how you are presenting these videos to the public. That may be a first for UA-cam. I'm really, truly impressed and you should pursue this with great vigor and not let go. You're doin' damn good, son. This is the best I've seen on this website. Truly outstanding.
thank you
@@VinylRewind You're very welcome. It's well deserved. Everyone has opinions of what to do next for the series but I have an interesting thought for you: Genesis. There is an era that is not talked about and you have a real chance to educate the public and provide compelling content. When Genesis started to become the Genesis most people know .. the very first album with Phil Collins as lead singer. The trauma of Peter Gabriel leaving, they were just going to do movie soundtracks for a while, they tried out 50 singers and people kind of assumed that was it for Genesis. Steve Hackett still had two more albums with the band. It's a very interesting time. Especially when you take a look at the sales of that album compared to previous Genesis albums .. it was a big hit. Moreso in Great Britain. The album is called "Trick of the Tail" and came in 1976. Later that same year was the swan song of that era of Genesis with the fabulous "Wind & Wuthering". These were two albums that I would put up against anybody .. any time .. any era. This took rock music to levels that no band really had .. before or since. It was an incredible blend of the pop era Genesis and the prog era. No band ever danced that fine line so well as this well hidden time in the history of the behemoth Genesis.
Once again you knocked it out of the park. Looking forward to part 3 and the story of the film. Thank you again!
Never clicked on a video so fast in my life.
Nice icon
Awesome! Well done. Loved the archival footage. I had never scene it before.
Its tough having to wait between videos, love them so much
Can't wait for the next one, it's one of my favourite films of all time
This is an excellent research of the album, can't wait for the conclusion with the film. Also, I would love if you covered all their albums with such lovely detail, but until then, keep up the good work.
This was amazing, thank you so much! I count myself lucky to have at the least gone to one of the Waters shows in 2010, which was by far the most incredible performance I've ever seen, but to learn more about the level of stage design and prep it took for the original tour is beyond imaginable. However much those guys made to put it all together isn't enough.
I was very excited when this series began, as I was going to attend a tribute band concert for The Wall featuring outfits, props and projection. Watching up to this point not only got me excited for the performance but also helped me learn more fun facts about the original production and see how it would be adapted in my area. The Wall is my favorite album of all time, and the performance tonight was incredible, albeit could’ve been improved. But this video series and the album review made this occasion all the more memorable for me. Thank you for your research and delivery about The Wall. I look forward to Part 3 soon to give this some excellent closure.
I’ve been looking forward to part 2!! I love them all so far!
3:54 All in all he was just another Brickman in the wall
Ooooooh.
Nice. Completely missed it.
One of my favorite classic rock albums, thank you
I love your pink floyd videos. You deserve way more subs your channel is awesome.
Excellent content! Love this series. Fascinating period of the bands history and what a show this must have been! Just brilliant concepts and great music.

Very well done
my friends dad was on the production team for this tour. Unbelievable how anyone could pull something off like this
Excellent stuff! great channel, subbed and liked. looking forward to watching more in the coming weeks
Was just thinking about where part 2 is!! Such a great show man.
LOVE IT! THIS GUY TAKES YOU TO A REAL JOURNEY! Well narrated and with lots of emotion and facts!
Great work deserves great rewards. This channel deserves 100K subs. Spread the word!
I love this channel! Been watching for over a month or so and am diggin it. Also lovin the fresh haircut!
I love the solo albums on the shelf, nice touch my friend!
I haven't watched other videos in this channel but this The Wall Series is very well researched and put together. Congratulations.
Keep up the good work Geek! I really like hearing your insight on different bands and their creative processes. If you could do a review of King Crimson’s Larks’ Tongues In Aspic, that would be amazing!
Man I’m so glad you started pink floyd so that I can be opened to your amazing channel 👏
What a well researched, passionate look into one of the most ambitious, original musical albums of all time. The production value of your videos as well as the presentation is wonderful. I rarely hit that bell when I sub, but I can’t wait to see what content this channel comes out with next
thank you
Good Job. Yes, I remember Davids Solo of CN in Dortmund 1981, one of my greatest shows ever! Still have the ticket.
This is one of the best UA-cam Channels out there! Thank you for creating such amazing content with great attention to detail and production value. As a Pink Floyd fan I am really happy and as a cinematographer I am ecstatic!
I was here, at the LA Sports Arena....still an unforgettable show to this day!!
And this video and your narrative just refreshes my memory...thank you!!
Great three-part series. I was at the opening night in LA, and one of the things that happened was some fireworks they shot off landed on a curtain in the rafters and they had to stop the show, lower the curtain and have guys with fire extinguishers put it out. They opted not to have fireworks at the remaining LA shows.
Amazing video! I enjoy these about The Wall. Keep up the good work!
This video shows how interesting the complications between the band were, in a really nicely edited way. Nice!
A groundbreaking tour, this in 1980 was unheard of, wouldn't see massive productions like this again until the 90s pretty much.
Man, these videos are great... really incredible job
uhm as a multidisciplinary theatre-artist that grew up listening to Pink Floyd, i'm shook as hell that they accomplished this tour with ALL ANALOG EQUIPMENT?! incredible.
Great work! Looking forward to part 3!
I attended this show at Nassau Coliseum (Long island, NY ), Feb 25, 1980 . I was 15, this was my 3rd concert. I have fond recollections of when the wall came crashing down an consider it one of the most fantastic things i have ever witnessed in my life. 100 concerts later, and this still serves as my greatest concert moment.
Another epic video! I love the lates 70's -80's furniture, it reminds me a lot of my youth and our family living room.
Thanks for these kind of videos man! don’t quit! 😉
please tell me you are going to make a video of that boy "Animals" back there...
at some point
i love your reviews so much ! keep up the great work!
In those days in the NYC area, upcoming concerts would be announced in the Sunday NY times entertainment section and I remember opening the Sunday Times In early Dec. 1979 and seeing this full page ad for Pink Floyd’s upcoming 6 shows at Nassau Coliseum and tickets going on sale at Ticketron the very day on Monday morning. I remember it was a really cool Scarfe drawing of his ‘Pink’ character screaming and to this day, I wish i had kept a copy of it to frame. Bring only 13 but already a diehard Floyd fan, I begged and pleaded with my mom to let me stay out overnight on a school night (and upfront me something like $80-100 for 4 tickets) but not surprisingly, she laughed at me and said ‘Are you out of your mind?’ Being I wouldn’t let my 13 year old go to the mall alone, I grudgingly forgive her :-)
Again.... great job. In depth is fantastic. I lived in LA when the tour was there and nobody talked about it! I finally know what really happened.
I was fortunate enough to be stationed in California at that time. I got to see one of the shows at the LA venue. One of my favorite concerts ever.
Man, I hope that one day you truly get “the views that you deserve” but if not please keep up the good work. You put so much effort into your videos like few others. Fantastic video as usual!
thank you
Another great job, Eric... Pulled together some stuff I knew and some stuff I didn't. I used to have a great bootleg video of the entire concert from '79 Nassau Coliseum but I don't anymore - it really was something crazy to see.
there's quite a few bootlegs floating around YT if you're feeling nostalgic. I wish Roger would just release the film that Gerald and Michael shot, they could do a lot with digital tech. hopefully the negatives were stored properly
Can’t wait for part 3 I’m sooo excited
Saw the wall concert in 1980 @ Earls Court, London.
Love your channel! Keep the awesome work
i was at the Nassau Coliseum opening show and, yes, seeing Gilmour at the top of the stage with his shadow cast over the audience was a site to behold.
That was great. Looking forward to part 3.
Fantastic video man, cheers for this
quality stuff, man! well done
One of the greatest works of music, set into one of the greatest shows of all time. A truly classic.
I hope that this show is playing, the day I die. Then i have the true: "great gig in the sky"
And by the way. A very well made documentary. Thanks a lot...
Thanks for reminding me why this is my favourite album of all time.
I was at the Nassau Coliseum show 2/80. No tickets,BUT we got in. Original hole in the wall that night was the smashed glass window we walked through that night.Have mercy,I was 16 years old.
This is the show I wish I could see. Hope that Pink Floyd tribute band Brit Floyd Recreates the Wall for their tour this year. I've seen them like 2 times. Also, Hope for the Movie Review as well as Making of the Film and talked more about the Animation which is great as well as Nightmarish. I Love more Information about the Movie as well as Bob Geldof in The film as Pink as it leads for Him to create Live Aid and Live 8 charity concert was Queen and Later Pink Floyd reunite and Made them big.
Teddy Furstman anyone but not them, they will just squeeze the typical ‘94 tour versions of songs into “The Wall” like they always do. To recreate the tour you need to research about equipment and effects they used, find the animations, make puppets and bricks and most of all - listen to all the bootlegs of concerts, to listen to an every concert in detail, to hear every sound and particular way to play each song. And they shall listen to ITAIOT and consider this enough despite of a lot cut material in it. So it is difficult and requires a deep devotion.
Yeah I wish they could but I read a description of one of the places thell be playing at and it says they're gonna do songs from other albums too and do the standard circle projection with the arch
@@Step198626 I see what you mean but I like the Brit Floyd shows but also it's difficult to recreate it too. Roger did that better in the 2010 version of The Wall.
Teddy Furstman I disagree. 2010-2013 The Wall tour was much different from the original album and tour. It has concentrated not on the personal wall but the globalised idea of militarism and pacifism, I am no saying that this is bad, but this is far from the original idea.
@@Step198626 I see what you mean. That tour from back them was very different. I like it but I would love to see the original tour again if they Remastered it. Also, I agree that Roger had a more Political view during the 2010 version of the show. Idk. I like the original tour best.
I think after your all done with the wall, to do Tommy, by The Who
Then Quadrophenia.
Yup
Such an underrated channel
such a great series, many congrats.. can't wait for ep.3.. will you be covering pros & cons of hitchhiking? i'd love to see an in depth discussion about that..
I wasn't planning on covering Pros & Cons, there's many other albums and subjects I want to cover
@@VinylRewind I understand, many thanks for the reply :) brilliant channel :)
Man I wish I could have seen this tour! I did see them in the 80’s without Roger and one of the best concerts I’ve ever experienced.
Great. I am keen on viewing more videos from you.
Another great video! Nice job!
Was there ever an official home video release of any show from this tour?
not to my knowledge, just the live album from 2000
I was lucky enough to see Roger perform the show in 2010 in Sydney. Its one of those experiences that stay with you
Went to the Waters/Wall Tour, Fantastic, also lucky enough to see Roger's Dark Side of the Moon tour, as well as Gilmore and the guys do the Pulse and Division Bell tours
thank you soo much for using meters in the video, really helpful
Can't wait for the next episode!
Vinyl rewind = Always quality
awesome videos on the Wall man!
I wish I was before they stopped doing shows. I was born in 2006 about a year after the live 8 show. I would never want to force them into a show, but I wish I could at least one of them in shoe playing my favorite album.
Big PF geek. Thank you for the in depth info on the band
I got to see this show at Earl's Court circa 1981,,,I wasn't really a Pink Floyd fan, I'd heard their radio played music like everyone else but beyond that I hadn't really paid attention to them. I got to go because someone had to forfeit a ticket in our group so I went. I was fairly inebriated at the time but it still stands as an amazing experience. Interestingly, the film footage has since surfaced and when I watch it I realize how perception is different than reality. I remember it being a HUGE and Mind Blowing thing, watching the film it's like, "Meh." I still do love their music, I have their albums in my collection.
Earls court, London, England, August 9th 1980. It was awesome!
Amazing job, you really have dig the vast majority of sources and even used bootleg footage and audio (not the heretic ITAIOT), bravo! Waiting for conclusion...
I wish to hear about Animals from you soon too
FLABBERGASTING!!! THANKS FOR POSTING THIS!!!!
you Sir are getting more outstanding with each wonderful video. I wonder where all those bricks ended up ?
never thought about that before, great question
Awesome video.
FANTASTIC VIDEO!!😁😁😁👏👏👏
Love the set where you record your videos....😀
i wish I coulda seen Punk Floyd live, they're so good and were the best, it sucks the internal issues couldn't be resolved cus I woulda loved to see em live, just never had a chance, I live in a hole in the world....
this live show sounds amazing, even the concept ideas are out of this world....
you did a great job on this kiddo !! impressed . thank you - sincerely , a huge pf fan .
