As a Scottish girl who went to an all English high school (& therefore I identify with James loads) I can assure you that most English people can't understand shit when it comes to Scottish, Welsh, Irish or even more Northern or regional accents like Geordie or Scouse

In England, only three people in my class were fully English. Everyone else had an Irish or Scottish parent. Or Spanish, Italian…etc. Most of my friends are mixed heritage.

How on earth can you have a best of James video without the scene where he shows up to take Erin to the dance after she is stood up? Arguably the best scene in the whole series.
The casting in this show has been executed so well. Appearance wise, the people who are family can pass for being relatives in real life. Plus the acting has the relationships on point love it!
James is an extremely resilient character. He isn't actually treated poorly; it's just their way. He adapts to everything perfectly and without complaint, but he's never portrayed as a depressed, angsty teen. Great character. I'd like to see him with Aisling. They'd be cute together and it would stir up some story lines with Jenny and the DG's.
Orla is a freaking delight. Seriously, rewatch the series and focus on Orla. Earlier in this episode when the curtains were on fire, she was in the back of the group trying to blow out this massive fire.
James is great because anyone who is English and has been to visit relatives over in Ireland growing up probably had to face similar abuse hahaha, I know I did, up until it was someone who I wasn't related to tried to take the piss.
I hope they solved James' restroom problem pretty quickly. I felt bad for the lad. Also, I felt a strong need to urinate before the episode was over (psychological empathy, perhaps).

The school the show was shot in is an all girls school ( I went to it) and it actually has boys toilets for visits and for kids taking their AQE tests

He's not gay just English, so he doesn't know any better, savage. I kid, he's alright. He supported Claire when she came out and was there for Erin at prom. His mother essentially abandoned him and he endures a lot of bullying but remains genuinely sweet.
I think the show is gonna end with him coming out. It'd be the perfect way to end the series I think.

You have to understand the irish history, the Brits invaded and tortured the Irish for hundreds of years. You see that in the show and the teasing is funny to watch unfold because its the accurate way many feel torwards the English.
