@@humps678this is a common misconception 🤓 how serious people are about it varies everywhere. Even basic “rules” are different in each country. What’s unacceptable in, say, Italy might be perfectly fine in Bolivia - , Día de las Ñatitas is a great example. In other countries it would be seen as worshipping false idols, in Bolivia, they’re completely compatible practices 🥰
I’m in Scotland and the vast majority of people who identify as Catholic only go to church on these occasions; baptisms, first communions, confirmations, weddings, funerals, Easter and if you’re really putting in the effort, midnight mass for Christmas 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ Notice that most of those events also involve a party/gathering with food and alcohol 😜😂
I come from a big Catholic family and went to Catholic schools my whole life - I only know one person whose family were extremely devout and they were considered super old fashioned/a bit too enthusiastic 😂 Most people aren’t devout whatsoever.
Our favourite priest when I was little used to enjoy a drink, and would stand outside chatting after mass with a cigarette hanging out the side of his mouth 😂👏🏻 My mum once asked him if he was excited for his upcoming holiday with a few of the other priests. It was being organised by a few of the older ladies who helped out at the church. He (lightheartedly) complained to her he was dreading it 😂 He and the other priests wanted a _break_ so the plan was to go abroad, enjoy the sights, relax with a nice glass of wine etc. Instead, they’d been booked on a guided walking tour of all the local cathedrals, and an academic lecture on the gospels 😂😂 If you’re not aware, Catholics don’t believe in the rapture (as in, the notion that people will be sucked up into the sky and the “unworthy” are left behind on earth lol) - he said something along the lines of “if we aren’t able to cancel that lecture, I hope to god the Protestants are right and I’m raptured up before it gets going” 😂😂😂😂😂

I figured out Sister Michael during Orla's talent show when all the rest of the gang jumped on stage to support her after they started laughing. They panned on her face quickly and she was just staring and her top lip lifted a bit. It was a subtle movement but it meant something .As much as the girls drive her nuts, she admires true friendship and secretly wishes she had that growing up ...it's also why she secretly cannot stand Jenny . There is a lot more to her but you have to watch the show multiple times to catch it.

@@alexcarlson4344 Well as an American who watches a lot of UK comedies, I think I understand the humor and sarcasm just fine thanks. I feel I have to stick up for American shows but it's hard lol. I wouldn't say American or UK humor is better or worse but there is just a large number of awful American sitcoms.
If I had to guess it might be due to Hollywood having so much more money and actors to throw at any show. Americans are also generally more conservative with what we tolerate on TV so to market to that, studios play it safe with bland, unoffensive shows. Also we don't have publicly funded arts like the BBC so everything here is based around what can produce the most money. Experimentation is not profitable.
Obviously there are tons of great American comedies but they're just more scarce. The UK pumps out a lot of quality. Unfortunately, it seems like you guys have a pool of like 20 actors to choose from for any given show so we have to wait 3 years between every season of 8 episodes.

There is a bit of an issue in the Catholic Church with sex discrimination and when priest, a group of people who have recently brought quite a bit of shame to the church, pull rank on nuns a group of people who are sometimes better equipped to lead but can not because “only men can be priest” then yes nuns dislike those priest.

There was always a weird power struggle going on when the priest would enter the nuns realm of the parochial school. They either worshipped them or silently despised them. It was always kinda tense feeling. I did see a priest and the principal have a very heated exchange on the altar at confirmation practice. He always thought he was hot shit and the nun was egomaniacal. A recipe for comical drama of any of us had the sense to fully be aware of what was going on and enjoy it.
