For the triangle plate, I’m seeing a carved Celtic knot on it. Wonderful video! So ambitious and full of great ideas. Love Saturday mornings with one of your videos and a cuppa coffee. ☀️😎
Omgosh, I love ur videos. I’ve been doing pottery for 20 years but sometimes, as most I’m sure, I get in a funk. You gave me inspiration today. Thank you.
What a great challenge!! They look impossibly difficult, but your detailed 'deconstruction/reconstruction instructions' make me think that I just may be able to pull it off!! LOL Thank you, Ann. I do like to carve my surfaces, so I may consider this option. Glazing??? We'll see.......🙃
Hi Ann ... these projects are wonderful. I think they're a bit complicated but the way you break down each step is very helpful. I'm going to watch the video a few more times and choose one that I feel I can do. Thanks so much for your videos. I've watched them all!
Goodness me you would have to be the best speaker giving tutorlidge. You made it sound achievable not easy mind you but great to think maybe I could. This is my type of pottery anything hand building. Again 😊 THANK YOU
I love how you try so many different things! It’s so much fun to watch and I really like the outcomes. It gives me so many new ideas to try. Thank you!
Yeah, I think our marketing team likes to make everything sound "easy" 😃. It took a whole day of rehearsal to get these down...but it was fun and always helps to try new things to challenge yourself and inspire new ideas. Thanks!
This is the first of your videos and after watching this one I had to subscribe because your videos are great, informative and easy to follow. Thanks for that and also giving us a view of what happens when we think outside the box.
These are amazing! I just recently started trying my luck with pottery and your channel is very very good and educational, even for us newbies. Thanks for the great work!
Oh my goodness, such patience. Such skill. Such beautiful results! I never would have considered using origami shapes in clay. I am deeply impressed! Would this work with air dry clay do you think?
I just subscribed to your Chanel and I’m so impressed. I love your speaking style, clear and easy to understand. I’ve not worked with many templates so this was really helpful. You make it look so easy and I’m sure it takes lots of practice to get to this level. I work in mid fire clays. B-mix and Sandstone Buff. The origami is such a beautiful flowing shape. Loved your video. Thank you.
I bought a book on origami boxes with just this idea. Now I have the confidence that it can work. I live your gentle care with your pieces. Thank you so much. What is the yellow material that you use for templates?
Thank you for the great instructions, will be trying one of them today! If I may ask, which hole cutters are you using? Also the pastry rolling mat. Mine is silicone, it's too floppy for flipping the clay.
There is a link to the hole cutters in the description (they are cheap)...I've only been able to find these silicone mats long time ago at Walmart - not on Amazon...I've not been able to find them anywhere since - they are nice and thick and don't curl. Glad I bought several...if I find a similar model I'll post here. Thanks.
Perfect model for oil lamp but must poke small air hole for vent. And pinch edge inside to hold wick from slipping when lit .Always use Olive oil for safety .
Hi Kathy, that one I had to make on my own. I saw some pictures (if I can remember where I'll post here) somewhere that inspired the design. I just made a regular triangle pattern and then used an oval piece of cardboard to round the sides...if that makes sense.
Hi! thank you for the tutorials! I made the diamond vase and I noticed you may be mistaken about it's edge being 15 degrees. I think it's closer to 45 or 30. Thanks!
With the clay I use (Standard English Porcelain) I just let it dry under plastic for about a day. Then it is good to paint on. You can also paint on it after it is bisque fired (to Cone 04) in a kiln.
I am having SO MUCH FUN with these ideas. I've already made projects one and three and they came out perfectly thanks to your video. I'm having a little difficulty with Project #4 getting the curve and angles right so it folds up as beautifully as yours. Any chance you would share a digital file of the template? I can always scale it to size. Thank you for sharing your creativity and talents. I love your channel!
I am enjoying this video but would like to know how you carved the design into the first box. It's pretty perfect so I am guessing that it wasn't done freehand? Thanks.
Yep...freehand using one of my Diamondcore carving tools. I will probably do another carving vid in the near future...you may want to check out my Carving Tips video in the meantime. Thanks for watching!
Porcelain is thinner more placticidy . Stonesware or Earthware more durable thicker for cookware , bakeware.Which clay is best for fountains?Which type or clay do use on each project?Thankyou so much Jim😊
I have been watching your videos. Love them. At one time you talk about the twisted vase video, but I could not find it. Could you tell me where it is? Or was I mistaken?
I think the top and seam lines of the first proyect looks like rose petals. Maybe adding one more (5 panels instead of 4) and/or rounding the vertical edges could make it look more like a rose.
Thanks for the great videos! I’m searching for a mat like yours. Can you tell me what baking mats you use? My silicone ones seem too sticky and yours seem more like “paper” or less sticky. Thanks!
These are pretty old and I have not been able to find suitable replacements. I've had a lot of requests about them - when I find a good one I'll post in the community section. Thanks!
Ok I have a question. I really want to start doing dip glazing since brushing takes forever and if I pour brush on glazes they run out quickly. So I've been looking around glazy, but one problem I have is the food safety of glazes on there. Most people don't say, so should I assume it's food safe even if they don't say? If not, what is the best way to test its safety?
I am a college student but I have been doing pottery for around 6 years now. But I would say that if it doesn’t say, just research it. Maybe it is a band thing and the brand is known for food safe glazes and just doesn’t put it on the packaging, and vise versa. Don’t look for food-grade or non-toxic since they still can be not food safe. Do not eat anything off of them just in case there are toxic materials in them. I would say anything matted/ satin would be a no, like underglazes. Or that has a heavy metallic finish as well. That is from my experience. But definitely just look into the company or even specifically look up that glaze from the maker and read the description. If the description doesn’t say I would call costumer services and just ask, since they would definitely know. I hope this helps
I want to get into pottery but don't want to invest in a kiln yet. What clay would you recommend? I've been researching and it seems like most air dry clays crack as they dry.
I think you could do it with a curved or flat stamp. If the plate is large and pretty flat the flatter stamp would help to minimize stretching of the clay. Good luck!
Kinda made that one up Mauve based on some previous projects I've done...look at the folded pottery video and you'll see another version there. Thanks!
Tupperware made/makes them. Do a search for Tupperware pastry mats. There are some used for sale. They may still sell them new. Do a search for Tupperware dealer near you.

Breathtaking! Your patience is admirable Ann✨🙏🏻😁the carved one is my favourite! I’ll try a simple one, thank you dear, real talent and passion💐

I would love to see them when they've been glazed 😆 Ann you did it again another brilliant video to get our creative minds flowing 💖 Thank you 👍👏💟
We are doing test tiles right now in hopes of showing how we glazed this (and last weeks) pieces...stay tuned!

OMG you are master!!!! Lovely proyecta, I’m not sure if I can do it but I’ll try.
You are amazing. You have boundless imagination. Such fun!
Superb idea and tutorial. Well done!
A great work has been created.
Being a retired art teacher and having done many hours in the pottery, your explanations are top notch! Thank you for your clay contributions.
Thanks Nina, that means a lot!

I've not worked too much with air dry but I would think if it works on my finicky porcelain it would work on most anything. Thanks for watching!
You make it look so easy! Thank you for being so detailed with advice along the way ❤
Hi Ann have you thought of using slab mats for rolling out your clay? They don’t stick like the plastic does, just a thought! Thanks for the class!
Thanks for the tip!
Hi Ann thank you for ideas and sharing your plans,I have been doing ceramics for a few years now best wishes Lydia

Just love these designs, so gentle, what is the clay you are using? do you let it dry a bit, it looks very soft?
Standard Porcelain #365 - using it right off the slab. It dries out fairly quickly though.
Beautiful 😍, I'm trying for first time. Just question, plz help to guide, how to make the pottery clay craft solid before painting❤❤
With the clay I use (Standard English Porcelain) I just let it dry under plastic for about a day. Then it is good to paint on. You can also paint on it after it is bisque fired (to Cone 04) in a kiln.

Not a bad place to start if you dont have kiln. You may also want to connect with a local class that shares a kiln. Good luck!
Okay 👏
I was thinking your Celtic knot stamp would look lovely in the base of the folded triangular plate. Would you need a flat stamp for that?

@@LittleStreetPottery thanks - I'll have a go next year. Last kilnog 2021 just gone off

where did you find the template for the tri-fold plate?

You should consider making pour molds before you carve them to do production pots. This could save you a lot of time make each pot.
Please can you help us to make the templets. Maybe measure ments

Is there a link to the work surface you’re using?
In description. Thanks

Standard 365 porcelain
Been searching for the trifold template everywhere and cannot seem to find it, anyone else have any luck?
We did not include templates for all pieces (just a couple) - I just kinda "winged" it on the trifold piece. You can do it!
❤
Instead of adding coils why not use the triangle strips from cutting 45 degree angles
Good thought - will have to try that next time!
Easy? Ha ha ha.
