Easy Pottery Textures! Using Water Color Techniques along with Wax Paper and Bubble Wrap!

- In this video Ann steps you through THREE PROJECTS using plastic wrap, bubble wrap, and wax paper to create textures. Then Ann demonstrates simple water color techniques to augment the designs. Create great watercolor art on your pottery pieces!
All pieces were made from Standard English Porcelain No. 365, bisqued to Cone 04, and fired to Cone 5.

Not really - I let the patterns inspire the end result. I did intentionally cut the last shapes into "poppy-ish" shapes thinking I might do a flowery design. That's the cool part- once you do it a couple of times you start to think about adding blue for sky, green for leaves, yellow/brown for earth in certain areas...don't think too much though! The happy accidents are the best!

What kind of clear glaze do you use? Do you have consistency problems with crawling and milky coverage? Any suggestions?
Amaco C-11 clear. I only use 2 coats as I find 3 makes milk. Thanks,

Love your videos! I'm an amateur who has been playing at pottery for over 10 years and I love all the new ideas. Are yours mostly one of a kind pieces? How much do you charge for say, a vase? I'm thinking about selling some of my one of a kinds -- most of mine are one of a kind because when I get a great result I'm afraid to try it again in case it doesn't turn out as well! AND, I like to try different things. Thanks!

You are using underglazes on unfixed clay. Do you bisque to 05 and then glaze with clear and fire to 5?

Do you apply the clear glaze after bisque firing or on top of your painting?
Its rare that I apply clear glaze but when I do it would be after bisque and on top of the paintings.

If I understand your question...I usually just keep it under plastic till I'm ready to use it.
Nice where do you get the #365 porcelain clay
It can be tough to find in certain parts of the world/USA. I have to drive 2 hours to get it in Sanford FL. But, I would think any porcelain that fires white would give you similar results. Thanks!
Did the painted pottery go into a kiln?
Yes. Fired to cone 04 then glazed and fired to cone 5

Love these ideas but wondering how you keep your slab from drying out to the point of not being able to manipulate it. Can you explain?
Hi Pauline! I cut the clay right from the block then roll it out. It stays pliable for several hours. I don't need to spray or add water either. Could just be the clay I am using (English Porcelain) and living in humid Florida helps too!
