I have this exact washing machine, bought it brand new 2 yrs ago, has 1 yr warranty, started acting up, stopped working, did not come with the code sheet, this video was straight to the point, and very easy to understand, I did this step by step, found my problem, and am back up and running!! Thank you brother!!
Exactly that's what I appreciated to, he was straight to the point...another guy had a kinda similar video but chiiiilllle I didn't understand not one thing he was talking about it was irritating....thats why I left him a appreciation comment, he really saved me so much money and time!!!
Absolutely 💯 I agree....he was soo wonderful with walking through each step and straight to the point!!! I'm literally so pleased and happy my washer is bk running I was scared the past 2 days 🤦🏾♀️🤷🏿♀️ til I found this video ❤
Omg, I wanted to leave you a appreciation comment ❤ Thank you SOOOO much for the way you walked me through this video...I have that exact same washer, I brought it earlier this year, haven't even had it 6 months and one night it jus stopped spinning 😮 it would drain but not spin. After Googling and youtubing multiple videos on what could be the problem I stumbled upon your video 🤗 we followed your instructions and guess what!?! The belt literally had came off...nothing was wrong wit the belt it had jus....idk I guess slid off, we noticed it was very oily so we did what you said by cleaning it, replaced it and immediately I could tell it was spinning 😁 I'm soo happy, I was scared I wasted $550 on a washer but she back running!!!
I am grateful I found this video. I have this exact washing machine and this is what happened to it this morning. So grateful to not have to buy a new one since this one is only 2 years old
Thankful for your video, I have the same washer. When I start the washing machine it would go through the fill cycle and the it will hit the wash cycle but only for a few seconds, and then it goes to soak cycle and stay there. Any ideas what could be the problem? This washer is 2 month new
Unfortunately I can’t diagnose the machine myself and what you are telling me isn’t giving me any clues. If it’s only two months old it should still be under warranty. It complain to the seller. Thanks for watching!
Great video man. I have the same washer, when I start a load it squirts water the first couple times as normal then it won’t do anything after that. So there is no water besides the first couple squirts. I have great pressure from hose. Thanks for your help!
Don't know if you will still see this but I have this exact model. Went through this vid up to the spin cycle test, everything was good up to then, two spurts of water, lid locked then just nothing. I don't hear any motor noise or anything. Problem started when I tried to wash a bath towel and 3 smaller ones. Drum thumped around then nothing. Didn't drain, won't spin. I think even just those few on small load were too heavy for it. If there is just nothing with the spin test, in your opinion is the motor shot? Could a heavy load just fry it out? Or could it still be just the belt off? Can't drop it down to check under until tomorrow but am a complete amateur here so just wondered what you thought.
I'd suspect the lid lock. The lid switch test will pass but if you do the spin test and the lock won't click and indicate lock at the LED on the panel then it’s your lid lock. The switch test tells you if the lid is open or closed not if the lock works or not. Thanks for watching!
In that case check your belt. If it's shredded clean the pulley's and replace it. Also look for damage on the motor speed sensor. When belts fail they have a tendency to damage the speed sensor wiring .
Liked the casual way you did this video & clearly explained your repair...got chuckle about the customer "dropping the washer off"! I've never heard of anyone ever doing that! He must have great confidence in your expertise! Cant blame him! I would also! Good job!
Ha! Yeah, I get that a lot. The conversation goes about like this. “So, what’s wrong with your washer?” “Uh, I donno, the Missus says it don’t work. Can you fix it?” Thanks for watching!
I used a four-wheeled dolly and turned the machine on its side to move it around. I am working on the bottom of the machine. You can just lay the machine down on a towel or something, but beware of standing water in the drum. Be ready to clean up a mess.
I have the same washer and when mine is on a spin cycle it makes a noise like a screech the whole spin cycle until it slows down. I will pause it and balance the load again like some people suggest but it doesn’t make it go away. Could this possibly be the belt?
Thank you for making such a an informative video. I learned something. However, my issue wasn't covered. Can you tell me how to check the washer to see why it doesn't fill the washer? It puts the same amount of water if you set it to small load or Super load. It won't even put enough water in to get all the close wet. Help!!! Fyi- we have extremely hard water with a lot of sediment in it. Could the valves be clogged? How can I check? Or is there a water level sensor?
Your hard water may be the cause of the issue. It sounds as though you may have a problem with your pressure hose or the transducer on the control board. Or it could be the water level switch. I’m releasing a video tomorrow morning where mineralized water caused a stoppage in the pressure system that was really hard to find. Thanks for watching!
Hey there I don’t know if you’re still commenting but I need help to know what part I need to get and replace .. so I went through all the diagnostics and the lid lock test passed but when I get to the spin test it just makes the click sound like 3 times then doesn’t do anything !! Any thoughts ?
So if the lock is what’s clicking then replace it. Sometimes it will pass a test but still be broken. If the clicking is under the washer it may be the splutch or shift actuator. I always try to answer the comments. If I ever get so big that I can’t I’ll still read them and answer as many as possible. Thanks for watching!
This is my exact washing machine and when it’s on wash mode it makes a loud grinding noise. I know you wrote a comment saying it’s hard to diagnose without having it in front of you but if you had to make a guess what do you think it could be?
It could be the clutch not engaging properly. That is the most common reason for that. www.amazon.com/dp/B09Z6NDRN8/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_DC7T6N3AJPN40RD3FND4?linkCode=ml2&tag=harperandkn0e-20 that might be the part you need but like you pointed out I could be totally wrong without being able to look at it myself. Thanks for watching!
Hi, thanks for the video! I have this washer and even with the water level on super load I only get about 3 inches of water! Do you have any idea how I can get more water in my machine?
This could be a couple of things. One, the selector switch might not be working correctly, and two, the pressure transducer on the control board might be defective. That is the little black component that the pressure hose attaches to. There are 8 solder points on this component and it can be changed if you can find it online and solder a new one in place. If your soldering skills are limited I'd recommend replacing the whole board. It's much less frustrating. A guy once told me that he spliced another pressure hose into the existing one giving the machine double the volume of air going to the transducer fooling the machine to get more water to flow into the tank. I don't know if he was blowing smoke up my dress and I've never tried it myself but often wondered if that would even work. Thanks for watching!
@@HarperandKnowles Hey can you please do me a huge favor own the hotpoint service tech trouble shooting sheet can you please go through all of the test please I'm having Trouble out of mine an I don't have this sheet with my washing machine please thank you
I have a question i have the same washer but my dad bought it brand new and i was wondering we put large load but the water doesnt fill up to the load like i put large load and it only fills up little water?
Modern machines have to comply with EPA regulations concerning water and energy savings. The engineers have determined how much water is needed to wash your clothes. Unfortunately this is sometimes not enough. So, two smaller loads using the machine TWICE is going to save energy and water?? It's the same with EPA toilet regulations. You have to flush 3 or 4 times where before one flush would do it. Complete idiocy in our world today!
Good afternoon I’m currently checking out the same unit. I’ve read the comments to try and answer my issue first. I heard the lid lock clicking repeatedly and the issue I’m having is the agitator and the spin cycle isn’t coming on at all I’ve also checked the capacitor it has 60 F coming out of it so I’m hoping the lid switch fixes the issue. Thanks for the videos very helpful
Hello again just wanted to give everyone an update. I installed the new lid lock harness and got it back together gave it a test run and it’s working great
First, this video is Great! I didn't know where to begin. You've done a very good thing here. Now, I have exactly the same machine shown in your video. Mine does everything just fine until the spin cycle; it drains but will not spin. I tried going through the diagnostic modes and it all checked out except for the spin cycle. It does the 2 squirts drains and the lid locks, but then it just goes silent - no motor sound, nothing. The lid stays locked and the spin led is on until I unplug it for 2 minutes. I might have been able to get it unlocked when getting into diagnostic mode, I don't recall. Anyway, it doesn't seem that there's a belt problem. I have not taken it apart yet; that may be my next step. But if the belt is okay could it be the main board? If you think this might be the case where do I get a new one? Thanks for your efforts, making the video and all. I hope to hear from you soon. Ken
Try this video How To Get Your GE Washing Machine Running: Diagnostic & Parts Replacement ua-cam.com/video/o0wzPa7ZVPc/v-deo.html. If that doesn’t work check out my playlist about how to fix GE and Hotpoint washers. There’s a video in there that should solve your problem. Thanks for watching.
@@HarperandKnowles After changing the motor speed sensor it still does not spin. It does agitate just fine, in fact all the other tests work. But no spin at all - it doesn't start to spin, then quit. You hear the valves squirt and the drain motor run but then silence, nothing. I know I can fix this if I can figure out what it needs. I will be looking at your other videos. Hope I can find something there.
I have this machine and I just replaced the belt (didn't know I was suppose to clean the grease off) and the drain motor. It's working but when it goes into the rinse cycle, it's still in the spin cycle as well. The spin cycle never stops while the water is going for the rinse cycle. I've checked my codes and it has the fill/rinse cycle lights on. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong.
If I’m understanding you correctly your machine spins and sprays water at the same time. This is normal. It is spraying fresh water on the clothes as they spin and washes the soapy water through and out and drains it. At least that’s what I think you are describing. Thanks for watching!
It is, but what I'm noticing is that the rinse cycle isn't filling up. Normally, it has a separate rinse cycle. I did the codes as you stated and the lights that I have on is the fill and spin. It's showing that it's fault code #18.@@HarperandKnowles
Test name: Analog Knob: Pressing start will start the test. Fault Code #18 Drain Pump Clearing Algorithm Failed. Pressure sensor indicates water in the tub after attempting to drain.@@HarperandKnowles
UPDATE: I'm not sure what I did last night but I tried a load this morning and now the washer is filling up the rinse cycle like it's supposed to do. Thanks for all your help and the quick responses.
Thanks for the video man. It was really helpful with helping me diagnose my hot point. I just have a couple of question. I did all the test and everything passed besides when I get to the spin/agitator test. The water will come out and the lid will lock but nothing will ever spin or attempt to spin. It is also giving me error codes 5, 19, 26, and 29.
I think the codes are a distraction here. You can reset them and try a cycle to see what comes up but I’m thinking you have a bad motor speed sensor here. You can watch me change one in this video. Don’t worry that it’s a GE, Hotpoint is a GE product. GE Washer Belt Damage: Sensor Replacement That Saves $100 Plus! ua-cam.com/video/3hSWAAVEn5s/v-deo.html. Thanks for watching!
I have this same exact washer. I was so excited to find your video. I went through the diagnostic steps and my washer lid won't lock in the spin test and won't spin either. There's no noise at all. It agitates normally and then it just turns off. Passed the other tests though. I don't know how to find out what the issue is beyond this.
I’m currently having the same problem. The lid lock has been changed out. It sounds like the motor is trying to engage after awhile but nothing ever happens
Do a diagnostic check on the lid switch. Sometimes you can get a bad one. If it won’t spin turn it over, remove the guard and look around. It could be the motor speed sensor, a belt off, a bad shifter. Without actually being there to diagnose your problem all I can do is throw guesses at it. Thanks for watching.
So i have this same washer recently it started making a grinding noise in the agitate cycle. I replaced the clutch gear but this did not fix my problem what else could it be?
I’ve seen this happen when the belt slips over the grooves in the motor pulley. Try cleaning the pulleys and replacing the belt with a new one If that doesn’t fix it then you have a bad motor or bad bearings. Thanks for watching!
I have a question I have the same washer and if I put it on heave colors it just keeps agitating and won't go to next cycle what do you think that could be. If I switch to bulk item it runs all cycles
Great video. I was given one just like that yesterday's it starts to fill then shuts off. Ran through the diagnostic water pumps in fine washer don't agatat or spin lid lock works I filled it about half full then ran spin cycle it locked lid and drain but didn't spin. Checked belt looks new. What's your best guess on my problem? And thank you for making video without it would not have figured out how to diagnose it.
I'd suspect the motor position sensor. Check this video for that: ua-cam.com/video/3bQg-0bi8hM/v-deo.html Less than a $10.00 part. Thanks for watching! Let us know what you find.
Thank you, that was my problem, and the video you recommended for replacement of part was awesome in walking me through repair. Wife's happy that we don't have to go back to laundry matt this weekend and part only cost twenty dollars from ebay.
I've been thinking about your question, and without being able to personally diagnose it directly, all I can do is throw guesses at you. And I have to say because I'll provide some affiliate links to the parts; As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. First, I'd examine the gear case cover for signs of oil. Even a small amount can compromise the drive belt. If that's the case, remove the cover and belt. Clean the pulleys with a spray-type household cleaner and replace the belt amzn.to/3A9ZoPH with a new one. That might be the squeaking you hear. Or you might be having a problem with the shifter amzn.to/41AOdeT or the washer clutch amzn.to/41aAgnW. If you change the clutch change the drive pulley amzn.to/43BeETr too. Thanks for watching.
I have this washer and i accidentally broke the lid lock, bought a new one put if in...washed after spin it wouldnt open stayed locked... can you help me open it please
Try holding down the start button for about 30 seconds. If that doesn’t work unplug it for two minutes and plug it back in, wait two minutes. If that doesn’t work you’ll have to raise the cabinet top by removing the screws under the console and depressing the clips at the front. Then you can manipulate the lock from the bottom. Thanks for watching!
I have the same exact washer and I'm having so many problems with bad smells coming from the hole where the drain hose connects in the back. The drain hose smells fine, it's coming from inside the washer. We have scoured the internet and cannot find for the life of us if there is a filter on this specific washer and how to access it for cleaning. Not sure if the pump is just gross and needs to be cleaned. We took the lid off and the top assembly apart and looked down into the tub through the sides and we can't smell anything terrible coming directly from the tub. We also tried to remove the agitator to see if there was mold or anything in the bottom of the tub but we can't figure out how to get the agitator off and there's no instructions online. We really think it's something to do with where the water exits or the pump that's smelly. We are at a complete loss here. Please help. Any advice you have is greatly appreciated. 😭😭😭
Usually when there is a bad smell from a drain pipe it is from sewer gases coming up the standpipe in the home. I have seen plumbing that doesn't have a trap in it that causes this problem. But you are convinced it's coming from the washer itself. This washer doesn't have a filter and I doubt that the pump is the cause of the smell. There is a product that you can buy called Affresh that you can get from this link; amzn.to/3Vac2qa. You might give this a try. It's always easier to fix a problem when you can find the cause. Here is a link to a page that discusses the different causes of drain smells: www.plumbernearmeusa.com/drain-smell/ I hope this information helps you solve your problem. Thanks for watching my video and good luck with this. If you find the cause, please comment again so others with the same dilemma can benefit from your knowledge.
@@HarperandKnowles Yes, we are absolutely positive it's not coming from the drain. We smelled the drain and then moved the washer into the garage to flip it over and take a look at it and the smell followed and was coming right out of the hole where the hose went into. I just ordered some. Thank you so much! I've read that if you put two large of a load in, it causes more sitting water in the bottom and we have the bad habit of keeping the lid closed. We're going to keep it open from now on and try not to put such large loads in along with using affresh. And thank you so much for clarifying it does not have a filter. We were driving ourselves crazy trying to figure out where the filter was or could be. :)
Hello, I did the diagnosis and all the lights turn on except the soak one and when washing that point skips, what do I have to fix my washing machine???? Hello, I did the diagnosis and all the lights turn on except the soak one and when washing that point skips, what do I have to fix my washing machine????
If your washer completes all the cycles and your clothes come out clean then I suspect that the soak LED is out. I wouldn’t worry about it if everything else functions normally. I’ve never seen this problem before and can’t really be too helpful without being able to diagnose the machine myself. Thanks for watching!
Yes this is the same Hotpoint I have and everything works except that once it goes into wash mode it only does it 10 times then the whole machine cuts off it doesn't fully wash what can it be that after the 10th time it cuts off?
I have never encountered a problem like this before. However, if all the mechanical parts are testing good, then I’d suspect the control board. You can probably get a used one at a reasonable price on eBay. Good luck with your repair and let me know if that fixes it.
Hello, i have this model machine, when i turn it on to wash a load it wont fill with water, i did the diagnostic test and the water filled and drained just fine, but when i get ready to start my load it doesn't turn on. Any suggestions.
Oh no. That is a really easy fix. Here is a video that will give you the clues to change it yourself. ua-cam.com/video/uqGdYflheWM/v-deo.html Depending on the style of lock you have, I cover both in this video. The video is about converting one style to another but you can see how to change either one from watching this video.
I have a question...hopefully you'll see this. I have this EXACT washer. This video has helped me tremendously! Mine was not spinning so we figured out it was the belt. We changed the belt and ran the diagnostic test and it still is not spinning. Any ideas on why? It starts to spin and stops right away. Thanks!!!
It could be your lid lock / lid switch. That’s the most common problem when these machines won’t agitate or spin. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting too!
My lid switch is good but when I do the spin test with the Wash, soak and rinse lit up, nothing happens the only thing I hear is the lid lock seem to lock and then unlock a couple times. This is the same thing that happens when I try to start the washer. It just locks and unlocks a few times and does nothing. Sometimes it stays locked and then I have to completely stop it. I know you can only guess but would you say that I may need to replace the lid lock assembly?
No, this time I’m pretty sure it’s your lid lock. Anytime it does that click, click, click thing… the lid lock is on the fritz. Trust me. Thanks for taking your time to watch!
@@danielzimbler6937did you ever find out what was wrong with yours … I’m having still the same issue and I replaced the lid lock switch and it still dose the click click click thing but it doesn’t spin or drain 😢
Any experience with agitator on this machine. We just put in a 3rd agitator. The original lasted for 20 months. The replacement lasted only 3 months. The new one is already starting to do the same thing after 4 washes that caused the first two to wear out. We tighten the bolt and it is loose by the end of the cycle causing the splines to wear down. The GE customer service rep on the phone today basically told us we got what we paid for and the machine was over a year old. If anyone has recommendation or experienced this same agitator problem and have a fix, we would love any suggestions. The machine was working well until this problem.
Try tightening the bolt without the agitator on the shaft. Use a mirror to see if it is running all the way down. You can get a tap for that hole and try cleaning up the threads. Use blue Lock-Tite on the threads once you have the shaft cleaned up. Thanks for watching!
I just bought this same washer, got it delivered today, connected and it starts filling but it doesn't fill at all, it starts washing without any water and makes a noise
Claudia, I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your new washing machine. From your comment, it sounds like there may be an issue with the water supply to the machine or with the machine's internal water control system. Without more information, it's difficult to say exactly what the problem might be. However, since the machine is brand new, I would recommend contacting the seller or the manufacturer to report the issue and request assistance. The machine should be covered by a warranty, so you may be able to have it repaired or replaced at no cost to you. I hope this helps, and that you're able to get your washing machine up and running smoothly soon. Best of luck and thanks for watching!!
Check that you have power at the receptacle by plugging in a lamp or vacuum cleaner there. Will it go into diagnostic mode? If so do the test . It may be a bad lid switch/lock. Thanks for watching!
Hello, I have a hot point washer and my issue is the washer is letting water in but at the same time the water drains so the clothes gets wet but the washer doesn’t fill up with water and it just runs with wet clothes but no water being filled in it

@@HarperandKnowles wow. I think that’s my issue. I moved my washer pipe out of the drain pipe to the floor drain hole so the water was just getting siphoned. Now the reason I moved it out of the standpipe is because my basement shower was getting residue up the drain. Now I got another problem lol
Put it in diagnostic mode and turn on the drain pump. Can you hear it? If so check for a blockage between tub and pump. If you can’t hear it, check wiring connections.
My washer is exactly like this on but it’s a GE it’s only been seven days that I purchase it from new in a box and the cold settings do not work only hot water is the only one working and I called the manufacture, and I have to wait three weeks before somebody comes out here. I purchased it from Home Depot and they stated to me I cannot return it.
I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with your newly purchased GE washer. It's frustrating when a new appliance doesn't work as expected. Waiting for a service technician can be inconvenient, but it's good that you reached out to the manufacturer for assistance. It's also unfortunate that Home Depot couldn't facilitate an exchange for you. I hope the service visit resolves the problem with your washer and you can start using all the settings as intended.
I have this same washer since June 2022. I'm on my 3rd Machine. They just brought me the 3rd one on Tuesday. 3rd wash on the new machine & it flashes off balance no matter how I arrange the clothes & now makes a knocking/galloping noise at the beginning & end of spin cycle (not the tub hitting the sides like you normally hear if unbalanced). I finally got the light to stop flashing by doing a drain & spin cycle but the knocking sound is still there. Machine was maybe only 1/3 full so not overloaded or heavy items. Any clue what this is? It's under warranty but the manufacturer is a nightmare to work with.
Sounds like a manufacturing defect if the machine is brand new. I haven’t got a clue as to what the problem might be. Maybe the next one will be perfect?? Thanks for watching.
I am at such a loss we have had this washer for a year and of course our of warranty. It was making a terrible grinding noise in the agitated cycle. My huband put a washer above the clutch and it stopped and was working perfectly. Now its not filling and doing anything. The load before it stopped filling it was off balance and the spin light was blinking. We have replaced the shift actuator the clutch three times. Its keeps getting grinded down and wore out.. please help we are at a loss for what else this can be...
All I can do without being able to diagnose it myself is give you a few suggestions. I would suspect something is impeding the movement of the agitator or the spin basket that is causing the plastic teeth to slip and grind away. This could be something internal to the transmission or perhaps an article of clothing trapped beneath the agitator or spin basket. As far as your current problem I would go through the diagnostic mode as demonstrated in the video to determine the cause of the current symptoms. Thanks for watching and good luck!
@@HarperandKnowles My husband has checked to see if something was stuck in there. Well thank you we will try the diagnostic again. When we press start and it does the two test sprays of water then goes to fill nothing happens but we can hear a faint clicking sound coming from the bottom of the machine.
If you over tighten the large pulley that can cause problems too. the clicking would be the shifter. Try taking the striker off the lid and stick it into the lid lock. Do the diagnostics. If it starts to agitate and stops or starts to spin then stops, that would be a motor speed sensor problem. I hope this will help.
Thanks for the great video, I have a hotpoint 3.8 cu. ft top load that is 1 month past warranty. It does this weird thing where it dumps out all the water and soap after minutes of starting and then goes silent with no lights. Sometimes immediately and just today after about 2 minutes of agitation. Then, after restarting, I opened the lid while it was working normally and it stopped agitation and refused to restart when I dropped the lid. Just sat there with the wash light on. Any suggestion would be deeply appreciated.
Without being there to diagnose the machine I can only guess at the problem. Guess number one. When these machines start to fill they start a timer. If the pressure switch doesn’t read the correct water level it will stop and pump out. This is a safety feature to prevent laundry room flooding. Guess number two. When you raised the lid it stops, after lid closes it goes through an algorithm including a spray of water, If that fails it stops or perhaps it doesn’t read that the lid is closed. Test that the lid switch is working. Again if it didn’t spray water it might be a faulty water valve. So, first I’d check for a bad lid lock / lid switch. Next it check that the cold water valve is letting in a good volume of water. Guess three. Faulty control board. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Just search the web for your model number. It should be on a tag inside the machine lid. Use this format Model# + belt. That should give you numerous results of part sellers. You can also search on Amazon using the same format and get a result.
My problem is the soak, wash and rinse and when I press the start button nothing happens except the “lid locked” like blinks..so what do I need to do now?
A blinking or clicking lid lock light usually is an indication of a failed lid lock. Without knowing what kind of machine you have or actually being able to diagnose the problem myself it's almost impossible to tell you what is exactly wrong. Thanks for watching!
@@HarperandKnowles I'm having the same issue with a hotpoint just like the one in the video. It won't go to the next cycle once it fills. Where do I start to even attempt to fix?
@@SpiriTeedKnocepts I'd suspect the lid lock first. Put it into the diagnostic mode like I do in the video and test each system. You can find your service tech sheet taped inside the lower left side of the cabinet.
I’m assuming you have a GE machine because you commented on a GE video. I’d first suspect the lid lock/lid switch. Locate your service sheet and do a diagnostic check like in the video. Thanks for watching!
The lid must lock first. If the lid isn’t locking after you replace it then it’s probably because the prongs on the control board aren’t making contact with the plug. Take a pick and bend them over slightly and replace the plug on the lid lock and test it again.
You may need new suspension rods to fix that unbalanced condition. If your washer has a wash plate instead of an agitator then it’s normal to not fill to the same level as the older washers. This is because the clothes need to come in contact with the wash plate to get clean. Also some manufacturers added the post of an agitator to the wash plate to sell machines to consumers that wanted an agitator. You can tell these models by removing the top of the post and if the bolt that connects it is way down at the bottom it is a wash plate with a post added to it.
@@HarperandKnowles looks like post was added. If removed, would that help with large loads.? Unable to do large loads without having spin light blinking and load never rinses completely. I have model HTW200ASK1WW. Hotpoint. Thanks.
No, removing the post won’t change anything. GE products, Hotpoint is a GE product, usually have very good suspension rods. I wish I could help you more but without actually having the machine here it’s hard to make a diagnosis. I hope you can find a solution for this problem. Thanks for watching.
There are a number of reasons. A bad lid lock, slipping belt, motor speed sensor, defective clutch, broken shifter, are the ones I can think of. But, unfortunately without being able to diagnose it in person I haven't got a clue as to why your machine isn't spinning. Thanks for watching!
I have that exact washing machine. My problem is not enough water comes out and the clothes feel dry. when it starts to wash everything lumps over to one side of the machine. I have to pause the machine rearrange the clothes and start again. This does not even help because everything still lumps over to one side and the clothes are practically still dry. The machine also doesn’t even make any suds. I have had a repair man come five or six times to no avail. Should I just get a new machine? This one is not even two years old and I’m very frustrated
Without diagnosing your machine personally, I don't know if I can help you. However, from what you say I can give you a few suggestions. If you're having a water problem, you should disconnect the water lines at the back of the washer and check for debris clogging the inlets. Use a bucket and run some water through your water hoses to ensure you are getting an adequate water supply to the machine. I'd suspect a bad water valve if these steps don't find a problem. Using the service data sheet that should be taped inside the back left bottom inside the cabinet, you can put your machine into diagnostic mode and check the water flow of your valves and if the washer is agitating correctly. If all your clothes are gathering up in one area, this is usually a symptom of the machine only agitating in one direction. This could be either a motor problem or a capacitor problem. Most of the time, it's a faulty capacitor. A competent repairman should be able to fix your machine or advise you when it's no longer economical to spend money on repairs. I wish I could be of more help. Thanks for the comment, and thanks for watching.
Great video. Thanks. I have the same machine and it mine basically skips the rinse cycle and goes to spin so the clothes still have soap on them and the machine spins longer than it should. So is the spin cycle starting too early?
Ok so what does it mean when you test lid switch and it dosent blink it goes to lid locked ? Mine is filling water and then drains out won't spin even when I put it on drain and spin..drain hose is level checked pressure hose ..belt is fine also ...need help and don't have the likebyou have to diagnose ...need a video showing that paper ...any help ?
@Harper & Knowles Washer and Dryer Repair even with every thing else going on ? What causes it to go bad was just working fine other day.. Thanks for time and advice ...
I haven’t got a clue about the conditions your particular machine is subjected to, but I can tell you that I think you have a defective lid switch. Without being there to diagnose it myself all I can do is give you my best guess. Change the lid lock.
Htwp1400f2ww what would make this model not want to stop spinning at the last cycle? Until I unplug it or open lid. When I open lid it'll stop but go back to spinning when lid is reclosed. Also I get a strong arc when I replug it as if the machine is still on. Unless I leave it unplugged for several minutes. Then runs all cycles fine up to last cycle Then it does it again. Spin cycle has a little intermediate loud noise.
I’m not sure but I would suspect the IC timer chip on the control board. I have noticed that GE’s have a much longer spin cycle than other brands. Thanks for watching!
I would suspect a faulty water valve. Once the water valve is activated an internal timer starts. If the washer doesn't sense that the tub has filled in a timely manner it will stop and pump out. This is to prevent a run over situation if there is fault with the pressure system. Check your water valves for adequate flow. a slow cold water flow will cause this. Thanks for watching!
Unfortunately I could only give an educated guess without being able to diagnose it myself. Perhaps you should follow the steps in the video and try to diagnose your problem. I'm sure you'll be able to do it. Thanks for watching
I just moved into an apt it came with this washer in my unit. It is not washing properly, stays in "soak" and does not spin enough water from the clothes. My appt isn't until the 4/26./23 it's 4/22
Patience? It is designed not to open until all moving parts have completely stopped. If, however, it isn't opening after an extended period of time I would have the lid lock changed. Thanks for watching!
That's your clue right there. Locking and unlocking....change the lid lock. It's defective. The reason it's stuck on soak is that it can't get a good signal from the lid lock to the control board that the lid is closed and locked before it begins to agitate. Thanks for watching, and I hope this helps.
Well, without having the machine here to diagnose I’m afraid there isn’t much I can do. A lot of times, when these machines don’t start washing its because there is a water supply problem. Follow the video to see if you’re getting enough water flow.
Contact me on Facebook Messenger with your machine model number. I’ll try to send you a photo of it if I have yours. Harper & Knowles Washer and Dryer Repair
My hot point has rust and the warranty expired by a week. The rim is full of rust and I just noticed it due to my clothes coming out with rust spots that I didn’t know it was coming from the machine
I'm betting you use that little cup on the side that says “bleach only” and you use it a lot too. There should be a law against putting those on washing machines. Always put your bleach directly into the tub water. If all these parts had powder-coated finishes or porcelain tops like they used to, rust wouldn't be such a problem. It's crazy but the two worst things to put in your washer are bleach and fabric softener. One causes excessive rust and the other gums up the whole thing. I'd suggest sanding down the rusty areas and getting a can of appliance epoxy paint to paint the sanded areas. Thanks for watching.
@@Anastasia-np1mj I’m surprised! It’s usually bleach that causes the severe rust problems. I can’t imagine why it has rusted out so fast. A high oxygen environment will do the same. You must have a lot of healthy fresh air where you are from.
Did you look inside the cabinet at the lower left back of the machine? Make sure you have water going through your hoses. Undo the waterlines and put them in the tub and turn on the water. If you have water then find your service sheet or watch the video and it will show you how to turn on the hot and cold water valves. Thanks for watching!
Hi there! It sounds like you're having an issue with your washer. Before attempting any repairs, I recommend that you watch the video you commented on to see if it provides a solution. The video is likely to have helpful information and step-by-step instructions on how to diagnose and fix the issue you're experiencing with your washer being stuck on deep rinse. If after watching the video, you're still having trouble, feel free to ask for further assistance! Thanks for watching!
I’m assuming it’s a GE or Hotpoint. So the most common reason is it isn’t spinning up to speed. Remove the belt guard and belt, then wipe any oil from the pulleys. Use some spray degreaser and clean the pulleys well. Replace the belt with a new one. That usually will fix the problem. Good luck with your repair and thanks for watching!
English Translation: Question: My washing machine, when I set it to Size Large to wash, it stays with little water... It's from the same brand. Answer: "Most modern washers are designed for the US market and have to comply with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards. Therefore, they are designed to use the least amount of water possible to wash clothes. Many consumers watch the wash cycle and think their machine is malfunctioning, but when all is said and done, the clothes come out clean. However, if your machine is actually not functioning as it should, the problem is probably in the pressure transducer soldered on the control board where the pressure hose attaches. @@Tyvierfirelove13 If the pump fails the diagnostic test you'll probably have to change it. It won't spin unless it drains. That should fix both issues.
This machine /brand is the worst I ever come cross thus month make it a year since I got one and when I tell u this machine stress me out believe it don't spend your money on this
I wish I had of seen this comment before I brought mine....girl, I haven't had mine 6 months and the damn belt had came off 😫 🤦🏾♀️ had me soo scared I wasted my money, nothing was wrong with the belt...idk why it came off we're assuming it slid off becus it was very oily so we cleaned it and put it bk on and it's working again but I'm jus hoping this isn't the beginning of problems😩 nothings worst than having teenagers and needing to do laundry every week without a damn washer 🤷🏿♀️🤦🏾♀️ and I definitely don't wanna have to go to a laundry mat becus chillllllle I can't afford another washer right now. This video was such a big help!!! ❤❤❤
It should be taped to the back left corner of your machine inside the cabinet. Tilt it over and reach in and pull it out. Or, follow this link f01.justanswer.com/smitty1486/124be154-0eb1-49bd-b829-cdb8163d3bae_GTW460ASJ_Tech_Sheet_.pdf
I HATE, LOATHE a feature of this washer. It is the following: When I let it fill up with water, I add the detergent immediately so that I can add the dirty clothes into the soapy water, but if you don’t add the clothes in pretty much right away, it will begin to drain on its own without pausing. I’ve wasted SO MUCH, SOOO MUCH detergent because of this disappointing problem. So much money down the drain.
I think what is happening is when you add clothes to an already full tub the water level rises above the level that the washer detects as the safe zone and begins a pump out. This is a safety feature designed to keep from flooding your home in the event of a pressure system malfunction. Why not add the clothes and soap and shut the lid like others do?
What damages it is when the washer suspension plate (part number WP3946509) gets misaligned and rides on the fins on the bottom of the tub. These fins usually keep this part in place. If you’re working on the unit you should always check that this plate is positioned correctly before you fill it with water. The danger is when the cabinet case is on and you transport the washer on its side. With the cabinet on it is difficult to see if this part is out of place. If you do this you need to tip the machine up and look underneath to be sure the suspension plate has not shifted. Operating your machine with this part out of position can damage the tub and will almost always crack it. If you never lay the machine down the plate will not be able to move out of place. You can watch this video for a better explanation. Washer Leaking?: How to Repair a Cracked Washing Machine Tub ua-cam.com/video/bc9v1FDMEvk/v-deo.html Thanks for watching. Oh, I should mention, GE and Hotpoint machines aren’t built the same way so transporting them on the side shouldn’t be a problem. But it’s always better not to.
Hmmm, maybe unplug it and plug it back in, and check your circuit breaker too. Looks like you have a power problem. I wouldn't think a light cleaning would cause a problem. Thanks for watching!
I’m sorry you’re having problems with your washer. I wouldn’t be able to diagnose your problem without being there to help. Perhaps you could get to the service manual located at the bottom back left corner of your machine or find one online and try to diagnose it yourself. The next step is to hire a competent service tech to help you. Thanks for your comment.

Glad it helped! Thanks for letting me know and thank you for watching too!
My washer is just over 2 years old and it won't fill.
You probably need a lid lock. Do a diagnostic check, like in the video, and see if the lid locks during a spin test.
I am having this same problem. What did you do exactly. I hope to get an answer
@@HarperandKnowles the lid did lock on the spin test. Light came on and I heard it click locked, couldn't lift the lid. Just nothing after that.
In that case check your belt. If it's shredded clean the pulley's and replace it. Also look for damage on the motor speed sensor. When belts fail they have a tendency to damage the speed sensor wiring .
@@HarperandKnowles ok, will do. Thanks.
This was awesome and just what I was looking for, but how do you take the back off? Thank you!
There is no need to take the back off. Thanks for watching!
@@HarperandKnowles how did you access the inside of the machine?
I used a four-wheeled dolly and turned the machine on its side to move it around. I am working on the bottom of the machine. You can just lay the machine down on a towel or something, but beware of standing water in the drum. Be ready to clean up a mess.
@@HarperandKnowles thank you!
I have the same washer and when mine is on a spin cycle it makes a noise like a screech the whole spin cycle until it slows down. I will pause it and balance the load again like some people suggest but it doesn’t make it go away. Could this possibly be the belt?
That certainly is possible. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for taking the time to make this video help me to diagnose problems with my washing machine

If the lid switch is repeatedly clicking it’s 99% going to be the issue. Thanks for watching!
Thank you I’ll post an update once I get the switch and give it a test
Hello again just wanted to give everyone an update. I installed the new lid lock harness and got it back together gave it a test run and it’s working great
Glad to hear that!
Is there any way to bypass the lid lock or do I need to get
First, this video is Great!

Is it agitating in both directions? I would suspect the motor if it’s only turning in one direction!
So, when you look up #18 what does it say?
Change the lid lock, that should fix the problem. Thanks for watching and comment too!

Hello! I have the same washer, HTW240ASK1WS, and it makes a grinding/squeaking noise during agitation and spin cycle, any ideas? Thank you!
Here is a link to a page that discusses the different causes of drain smells: www.plumbernearmeusa.com/drain-smell/
I hope this information helps you solve your problem.

I'm wondering how your lid lock test went? Did it pass?
You know it didn't do anything, the light only turned on, that was it
That's your problem then. Thanks for watching!
@HarperandKnowles ok. Thank you. Is that an easy fix or should I purchase a new one
Oh no. That is a really easy fix. Here is a video that will give you the clues to change it yourself. ua-cam.com/video/uqGdYflheWM/v-deo.html Depending on the style of lock you have, I cover both in this video. The video is about converting one style to another but you can see how to change either one from watching this video.
Thanks so much for this video, it really helped me fix the washer 👍🏻
You are very welcome. I’m glad it had some value for you. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.
We already replaced that. It's working just right.
My next guess would be the motor speed sensor. If it was making a roaring noise when the basket is spun I’d say your bearings are failing.
Ok! That's the part my hubby just ordered! If it's not that, I believe we may throw the whole dang thing out in the yard!!! 🤣
@@hannahw5107 Ha! The neighbors might complain.
what should i do if the rinse light isn’t lit up and when i test it, it doesn’t spin?
I’m guessing here but I think your lid switch is the culprit. Thanks for watching!
Why would it stay locked after i installed a new lidlock?
Defective lock or control board needs to reset itself. Try holding down the start switch for thirty seconds or so. Thanks for watching!
Also thank you so much for this video!
No, this time I’m pretty sure it’s your lid lock. Anytime it does that click, click, click thing… the lid lock is on the fritz. Trust me. Thanks for taking your time to watch!

My machine won’t drain. I changed lid lock and drain pump. Please help and thanks for the videos
I just wanted to exchange it for the same one

How do I calibrate hotpoint washer?
Unlike the Whirlpool built pause/play washers the Hotpoint doesn't have a calibration procedure. I don't see a need for it. Thanks for watching!

@@HarperandKnowles Thanks, you've been a huge help.
Where can I buy a belt if needed

What if your washer want drain or spin out the water? What is wrong with it?...PLEASE HELP
I’m assuming you have a GE machine because you commented on a GE video. I’d first suspect the lid lock/lid switch. Locate your service sheet and do a diagnostic check like in the video. Thanks for watching!
My washer just replaced lid lock but ran through cycle but won't unlock idk what's wrong
Try holding down the start button for about 20 or 30 seconds. That might work.
If it doesn't open is there another way to unlock or open it?
When I test my spin cycle it doesn’t give two spurts of water after replacing the lid switch which I believe to be the problem for not spinning
The lid must lock first. If the lid isn’t locking after you replace it then it’s probably because the prongs on the control board aren’t making contact with the plug. Take a pick and bend them over slightly and replace the plug on the lid lock and test it again.
Thanks for the video. I don't think I'll risk repairing it myself but maybe I won't sound like such a dummy when I call a repairman.
Hey, I’m glad I could pass on some knowledge. Thanks for watching my video and I hope you’ll watch more!
Fix it next time . Being worried is money in someone else’s pocket. Good luck
My washer never spins out completely because unbalancing occurs. Also, never fills up with water on any size selection?
What will make the hot poing washer machine runs when it's not on and the mortar dont run at all
Without being able to diagnose it myself I couldn’t even guess at what’s going on. Thanks for watching!
Can you manually fill that washer up
I suppose you could manually fill any washer up using a separate water hose or a bucket. But why would you want to do that??
What would make it stop spinning?

My mom washed a glass jar that broke in her hot point top load washing machine and it makes a grinding noise of an on when agitating
That's unfortunate. I have no solution for you except check for glass shards between the agitator and the tub. Thanks for watching!
I have the exact same washer once it fills with water it starts to drain it out it doesn’t wash and the fill light starts blinking
I cant even get my washer to run diagnostic what does that mean
This would indicate you have a control board problem. Thanks for watching!

Mines stuck on soak mode and when I reset it just keeps locking and unlocking help please 😭😭
That's your clue right there. Locking and unlocking....change the lid lock. It's defective. The reason it's stuck on soak is that it can't get a good signal from the lid lock to the control board that the lid is closed and locked before it begins to agitate. Thanks for watching, and I hope this helps.

@@HarperandKnowles actually do not use bleach at all.

I’m assuming it’s a GE or Hotpoint. So the most common reason is it isn’t spinning up to speed. Remove the belt guard and belt, then wipe any oil from the pulleys.

Question: My washing machine, when I set it to Size Large to wash, it stays with little water... It's from the same brand.
Answer:
"Most modern washers are designed for the US market and have to comply with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards. Hotpoint washer reset
Thanks for watching!
I HATE, LOATHE a feature of this washer.
It is the following:
When I let it fill up with water, I add the detergent immediately so that I can add the dirty clothes into the soapy water, but if you don’t add the clothes in pretty much right away, it will begin to drain on its own without pausing.
I thought you could not lay a washer on its side. Because it can damage it
What damages it is when the washer suspension plate (part number WP3946509) gets misaligned and rides on the fins on the bottom of the tub.
All I did was clean and wipe down my washer same one and will.not power on.
