You can go on searspartsdirect.com and put your model number in. Look for the knob in the pictorial diagram and find your part number. Then you can buy it anywhere on line.
I don’t think it’s capacitor because when it agitates it uses the motor. I would put it in diagnostic mode and see if I can get it to spin and check the lid lock.
@appliance63 You're right, wouldn't give power to the motor if it was compactor. Did run it in diagnose mode, fill, drains, agitates, lid locks and spins, just doesn't spin when washing out of diagnostic mode. Checked belt, looks fine, has me stumped.
Spin works in diagnostic mode, but not in normal mode. Check for any codes? Saw something on these GE washers from the top of my head, put a 5/32 bit where the pressure hose goes into the tub if its clogged. There is also a pressure switch test during diagnostic. Control board has to send voltage down to the motor in spin cycle if the control board acknowledges that the tub is empty, and the lid is locking. Have to check if the control board is sending power down to the motor during spin.
If you have a 26 fault code. Unbalanced load. There is a ge service bulletin about updating the control board. Speaks about your issue spins in diagnostic mode and not in normal mode.
Hi MilkiMadeTheBeat, the drain pump would have to be access from the bottom. I think they’re three 5/16 hex head bolts. You can see the parts breakdown of the washer by putting the model number in on searspartsdirect.com .
I would check if you have any codes. I would also see if it agitates in diagnostic mode. I would be looking at the mode shifter, which shifts the machine spin and agitate. Transmission , dirt in the pressure hose that goes into the tub. Also, on these GE appliances they do alot of software module updating.
I HATE, LOATHE a feature of this washer. It is the following: When I let it fill up with water, I add the detergent immediately so that I can add the dirty clothes into the soapy water, but if you don’t add the clothes in pretty much right away, it will begin to drain on its own without pausing. I’ve wasted SO MUCH, SOOO MUCH detergent because of this disappointing problem. So much money down the drain.
Awesome job. Thanks for sharing. Plus . I learned about shortn out .. even tho it's plugged out
Thanks for watching!
I have an older model. The knob you turn to start the cycle stripped so therefore i can't set it. Is there a number to call and order part?

Have the same model washes, agitates, and drains, but doesn't spin. Do you think it is the capacitor.

@@appliance63 You think the speed sensor could be the problem?. I thought about but haven't yet checked the pressure hose.

Very nice video well done
Appreciate you watching. Thank you.
I have the same model washer and I'm trying to check the pump. Can I access the pump through that top panel?

@@appliance63 thank you! I'll take a look tomorrow!
I have the same model. It spins, but it does not agitate. Would you have any idea what may be causing this?

@@appliance63 thank you. I will find a code schematic.
Update:
The splines on the agitator were completely gone. Ordered a new agitator.
I appreciate the update. I’m glad you found the culprit.
The transmission may be bad. There’s a transmission that controls agitate and spin.

This model drains automatically if there’s water in the tub and the lid is open for 15 mins.
