I am really touched by your video. My grandfather died long before I was born and I really miss knowing and being loved by him. Watching your video feels like being taught and loved by a family member I never had the opportunity to know. I am in my 60's and older than you, but I still feel like a child being loved. At the age of 12, he lied about his age, joined the army and went to fight in WWI. He had his 13th birthday in France. Mustard gas caused health problems and he died before my mother was married. Watching your videos feels to me like what spending time with him would have been like. God Bless you for sharing your love with the world. When the depression hit, he bought acreage and built a house on it. Amazingly, I had an opportunity to tour and photograph the house he and my grandmother built in Ohio. His father, my great grandfather, was a street car engineer in Columbus Ohio. My great grandfather gave my grandparents half a discarded street car and my grandparents used it for shelter while they built their home. The street car is still in the basement of old house. They built the old house right over the top of it. My grandfathers name was William Bucklew; he was born sometime between 1900-1913. There is nothing in any history books to mark his life or contribution. He was one of tens of thousands of boys sent to war, not to be remembered. When he returned to the US and married my grandmother, he was legally still a minor and my grandmother had to sign contracts and legal documents for him until he came of age. She was born in 1899. She was the only grandparent I was to ever know. Your videos feel like the relationship I might have had with him. Thank you for mentoring, sharing your knowledge and love. Your legacy is much greater than you might be able to imagine. Young men and women will learn from you and be able to share with many others like a ripple on a pond. Thank you and God Bless You.
Excellent video, this is one of the few that teaches as instructions are explained , I say thank you well done !!! This goes beyond the pretense that viewers knowledge is within most videos understanding . I'm a meat cutter for the past 58 years . Watching and listening to this has given me helpful instructions and more importantly tips that will save me from mistakes and what could've cost me more to do and more money fixing blunders. Again thank you for your teaching. 🤠
First this is one of the best videos I've seen regarding sheet vinyl installation. About 20 years ago, I helped install a number of floors and have been trying to refresh my memory, so that I could do my floor. I looked at quite a few videos many of them I just skipped through them. I was a little wary of the 47 minute run time but your detailed presentation was just spot on and was easy to watch while sipping on my morning coffee. I'll be checking out your other videos.
Very detailed!!! Love the video. Your channel has helped me so much in the past month that I've been laying floors. I just got my first raise and I'd have to say it was because of watching this channel!!! Thankyou for making these videos !
I always tape my corners after rough cutting the doors/jambs before I fold it back to glue. The fiberglass back is pretty tough but that old felt would tear so easy.
I love your work! Very detailed and meticulous! If I might add that having a thicker vinyl helps hide inperfections but not dips, you caught that dip, and you made those cuts look SO easy.
Sorry for the blurry spot on the left-hand side of the screen it last for about halfway through the video, our use this camera with me and my wife go on rides and I didn’t realize that the Bug 🐜 had hit It while we were riding
FloorsbySouthernboys have you got a video on step by step from basics explanation on how to install laminate floors for biginners plz. Also have you got videos on painting and glossing from scratch for beginners?
not a bad video man.. next time skimcoat the whole floor though. there is a lot of black tar glue aka cutback adhesive all over and there is a chance it can bleed through. Also helps if you take a small piece of sheet vinyl and set your undercut saw on top of it when you cut your jambs.. makes it so much easier. Nice vid though!
thanks. The floor is not bad. Just original to the house. 48yrs young. Pulled up 3 vinyl and one underlayment. This has a thin foam padding vinyl from Lowe’s.
That's crazy how u use your carpet knife..I'd be scared..I use delphin knife which takes hook blade..took me min to get used to it..but can just zip around the rm an cut in.just like ya do with carpet knife..takes practice with whatever ya use or do..great detail vid..keepem comin..👍
What's your adress I will send ya one with some blades.just so u can try it out..makes world diff once used to it..but most guys set in ways..but I have extra..I will send to you for a shirt..😁😁
Vinyl is not carpet folks. Please use a utility knife with a utility blade or a hook blade. The quickest way for a trip to the hospital is using that blade if you’re not familiar with it. Plus you’ll most likely screw up the door jamb cuts with it.
When getting ready to glue the floor have you ever thought about pulling it back the other direction and marking a chalk line to match the lines of the flooring. This way hides the glue line from telegraphing threw the material

First time watching. Do you need to put subfloor under vinyl like you do ceramic?
Rosemary Gillmore If your subfloor is wood then it’s a good idea to put down and underlayment which is 1/4 inch plywood
thanks. The floor is not bad. Just original to the house. 48yrs young. Pulled up 3 vinyl and one underlayment. This has a thin foam padding vinyl from Lowe’s.
Rosemary Gillmore You’re welcome, I will probably put an underlayment down then

To confirm ... you let the glue dry, THEN placed the flooring down?
Yes if you use a pressure sensitive adhesive
When getting ready to glue the floor have you ever thought about pulling it back the other direction and marking a chalk line to match the lines of the flooring. This way hides the glue line from telegraphing threw the material
