I just finished a bag for my granddaughter and this is my second bag. My recommendation is to slip-stitch the handles together before top stitching as it gave a more finished look it was a little extra work but it help to hold the handles more securely and evenly. Thanks so much for the wonderful tutorial !
Original, beautiful and fun project. Gotta to it fast for grandson's toys.. Thanks for sharing this unique storage bag.. Much love and God bless you Ms Laura.
Can't wait to try this project. I've got some fabric just itching to be made into this basket. Oops just spotted the "One fat quarter bag" must have a look at that. X
CONGRATULATIONS, Laura, you must be so proud. I would like to thank you, for all your tutorials, with watching your videos, I learned to make my very own quilt. from start to finish including a detailed label. I made a Super King sized Friendship Star Blocks with different patterned fabric for the memories my two dearest friends, have shared together. A husband and wife who celebrate their birthdays only 2 weeks apart from each other. I gifted the quilt to them last weekend, they are over the moon with the quilt. I wish I could show a picture of it to you, just to say thank you, for your generosity and lovingly sharing your talent to us, you are so inspirational, it was you that give my the knowledge to start quilting. Thank you so much. PS I will order a copy of your book. Love from Australia
This is a great idea and perfect timing! I am seeing Easter bags for the grandkids! I can put their goodies in them and then they will have a tote for whatever they want it for after! The ten grands range in age from newborn to 15 years old and it is always a challenge to come up with something that will suit them all. Gracious, I am gonna have to get busy! ha ha
I love it. I just made a crib skirt, a diaper stacker and a quilt with that John Deere Theme as a shower gift. I have fabric scraps left over that I can piece this bag. I did make receiving blankets out of flannel to match.
Great bag design! I’m off to make a few. Make lovely gifts. I’m making some quilts for family members and this would make a great gift bag for the lap quilts.thanks sew much for sharing.
I've been wanting a bag just this size to take a change of clothes, towls, etc. to the pool - this is perfect! I'm not really a sewer so I'm not familiar with what water-resistant fabrics might be out there, but I have a machine and your easy to follow instructions have me very excited about this project! Thank you!
Awesome bag! I want to make one for each grandchild! Would be great for carrying toys and clothes for sleepovers at grandma's house. Thank you for sharing.
Laura, as always, LOVE this bag.... will be making a few of them for my friends that knit... Your teachings always makes me happy when I get my notifications in email... thank you again.. Jon
Timing is everything. That being said, I want to make a knitting bag for a friend and this one will be perfect. Thank you, so much for the great tutorials. You explain every step so clearly.
I was going to make some smaller baskets for this year's Easter egg hunt for the kids, but after seeing this video these bags are exactly what we need. Everyone bought traditional woven baskets to the hunt last year and they were too small to hold all the eggs and gifts the kids received. These bags look like they will work PERFECTLY for the haul the kids take home! Many thanks, Laura! You rock!
This tutorial thrilled me so much that I scurried out and bought enough fabric for five bags. Just finished one and it is cute! Thank you so much, Laura!
You are SUCH an inspiration! I don't have a designated sewing area. So I need something to put all my sewing tools and materials in where I can pull them out when I need to and store away after I am done. This is perfect!!! Thank you!
Thank you for a great project. I have been making shopping bags way before our local grocery store stopped giving out bags. The bags are lined and some are quilted with extra stitching at the handles. I have left my opening to turn the bags between the handles because after it is turned and pressed, I top stitch all around the top.
I wouldn't worry about it, Margaret-Mary. I personally believe it's those people to whom the UA-cam algorithm has suggested this video would suit them, but it doesn't. So, they're unhappy with UA-cam 'Recommended for you', rather than the person who made and posted the video. In the big bad world of the internet, there will always be those Grumpy Gusses, so you have to have a thick skin to post videos out here!
Thank you SEW much! I just love the bag! My granddaughters will love it for their toys. I might even add a few snaps at the top. Your videos are just the best! Thanks again!
All your tutorials are great but this one is really great. I need some storage baskets to get my sewing room organized and I’m definitely giving this one a go! Thanks again Laura. You are talented lady and I enjoy learning from you:)
Hi Laura , just what I was looking for to make for my grand sons dinky cars.... it will be easy for him to Cary and put back in its shelf....good idea. Tks ....🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️
Watched this when you first released the video and loved it. Making one now for my granddaughter's birthday. She's heading off to university in the fall and I thought it would be a great carry-all for her. Cheers and Thanks so much!! 🇨🇦🍁
This has got to be one of my favorite project tutorials----LOVE the bag---so many possible uses and it looks like it is quick and easy. Thanks so much for this fantastic idea! (P.S.--can not imagine why anyone would give this a "thumbs down" ????? ---wish I could give it a "million" thumbs up, like all of Laura's tutorials).
I love this idea! I would do a bit of quilting on the outside fabric (and maybe the lining piece) before assembly...just to hold the fleece/batting in place and for decorative purposes. Thanks, Laura!
I'm working on one for my sister :) Of course, I've referred back to video several times already LOL Can't get it to stick in my broken brain. Cutting fleece today and hope to muddle through and finish. Make a cute knitting, crochet and whatever she needs bag.
I just made this and it turned out pretty good! I had a little trouble sewing around those handles , so the stitches are a little wonky 😂😂 but I love it!
This is super cute and looks so simple! My grandson would love this bag, and i just so happen to have some John Deere fabric in my stash! thanks so much for the tute! (smile)
I just finished no 7. Fyi directional fabric needs more yardage. Also to simplify the hole I I sewed the fabrics together and turn it right side out. Like a window. I also did French seams and a self binding the first 5 bags I did per directions
I didn't have any more fusible fleece to make a second bag. I found that quilting out side made bag hold its shape better. I am going to quilt any future ones. The inside I did minimal quilting
I need to make a triangular basket something like this but perhaps without a handle. I have a corner shelf in my daughters room that many things can,t be put on the shelves because they fall off easily. I have been unable to find an affordable option for baskets for these shelves.. The shelves are 18” across the front and 13” on the two sides that make the back corner. I would really love to see a video on how to make something like this. - Connie
I love the “synchronicity “ of this pattern showing up on my feed. I am re-organizing my sewing room and came across some brown paisley cotton fabric that has a coating on it so it is quite stiff. I was wondering what I could make from it and this bag pattern will be the perfect project for it. Thank you for all your projects and ideas that you post. I’ve enjoyed them all !

I think I will make one of these for my guest bedroom. Fill it with things guest will need for their visit!
Thank you for such a great tutorial! I really enjoy your style of teaching. You are very easy to follow and your pace is just perfect!
Your videos never disappoint.
Finally a bag big enough for Afghan and bedspread projects. Thanks, Laura.
Great bag, I bet knitters will love it; feed the yarn through the handles, especially if a couple of snaps were added at the top.
Ornella Day. Thank you, good idea 💡🐢
Wow! I hadn't thought about that and no rough edges for the yarn to catch on
Original, beautiful and fun project. Gotta to it fast for grandson's toys.. Thanks for sharing this unique storage bag..
Much love and God bless you Ms Laura.
One to add to the project list, I would embroider to personalise, just love that inner fabric
You are such a thorough ti'm not done teacher without being repetitive and acting like you are instructing kiddos. Mahalo for all you teach us.
Very Nice!! You really are a great teacher. Thanks for sharing!!
what a great gift idea for a baby shower.
Can't wait to try this project. I've got some fabric just itching to be made into this basket. Oops just spotted the "One fat quarter bag" must have a look at that. X

Yes I can see how that would be a problem to store something. I will need to work on that idea, thank you
Love this bag🎒
I finally finished mine. Not too good yet on curve, but it works for me.
