Thank you so much Laura, I really really enjoyed watching you create this great wet bag, and I really really love ❤️ it and the fabrics too. Great idea. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
So many practical tips about non-stick, thicker needles, thread at 40 wt, presser foot options, increased stitch length; & flexible, as well as reversible configuration. Laura, I'm glad you shared this & the link to the fabric. Btw, Many old fanny packs (thrift store) could be salvaged if in sturdy condition for the clasp part. One of my FAVS! Keep them coming & we'll keep watching.👍🧡💜♥️💙
Non-stick needles? Wow! That was a great tip, thank you! Love this bag!! Wonderful for kayaking or bicycle panniers or beach bags. Even a doggie raincoat. Must make a few. By the way, you don't need to buy fabric that is coated, you can make your own non stick waterproof fabric. There are UA-cam videos on that. Now you can use up any leftover fabric or one of your choice for a great bag. Thanks for a great video!
Love, Love, Love!!! I do water aerobics three times a week and this will be SO much better than using shopping bags from the grocery store. Such a clever project Laura and as usual, you break down the steps so well. I always salvage the hardware from old bags and camping gear so I have a lot of the buckles laying around. This will definitely be my next project. :)
I love your tutorials. You have a calmness about you that transfers to your listeners!!! I am fairly new to sewing and have learned so much from your tips. Lifelong lessons, for sure!! Thank you for making yourself available to complete strangers so that we can glean from your experiences!!
these look like they would be good for a lunch box!! I will be at my quilt shop tomorrow for a class and will see if they have the waterproof fabric. thanks for your video
Thanks a lot for your tutorial! As always everything is so well explained. This fabric looks great especially with the coton side because we don’t always want the polyester side of another brand of waterproof fabric. 🌺🌸
I've been needing one of these. I think I would definitely finish the top edge, though, maybe fold it over once and encase it with the webbing, both for appearances and because anything will fray if you abuse it enough, and this is the sort of item that should be able to take some abuse.
Thank you, Laura for introducing this materal...I make bibs/aprons for my 20 year old Special Need granddaughter...I use White PUL fabric ( soft and washable) on the side of her chest and pretty cotton fabric to match her outfits...As many things are in back order (bolt of PUL) I was excited to see this fabric...but as I watch your demo, it seems the fabric is stiff...Please advise, I greatly appreciate it...Peace and love in stitching...
it is over 30 dollars a yard with shipping! I truly wanted to make a bag as I love the fabric, but that is just way too much for me with covid cutbacks and my hours cut
How do you wash there bags. Many states are getting away from plastic grocery bays. The problem is the chiclen and wet foods sweat and have bacteria. How do you sanitize these bags
Fabulous wet bag - can't find the Splash fabric in Australia so used weather resistant canvas. Will be making more in different sizes. Thanks Laura, your tutorials are so clear and concise and always interesting.
That will be great for lunch bag ...I never xan found anything what will fit my various meals and sizes of dishes what I use . Perfect for pools, beach ...no fassy zippers and simple to do . You are great in designe and presentation as well minimal editing for fast and to point delivery. THANKS YOU!
You should have seen my eyes pop when you rolled the top down and hooked it closed!! Hahaha sorry had to share that. Very nifty bag, also good for carrying books, trays of beads, art materials. If you sew the crinoline for making drapery pleats on the inside you can carry food/drinks. I'm fascinated with how this closes and stays secure! And no zippers!!
These wet bags will be so handy for my water bottles! I just finished my first one, but bought enough fabric for five. I put half a bottle of water in the freezer, and then add water before heading out, so they are quite drippy. I was using a freezer bag inside my lunch bag, but had to watch and keep it upright or there was water all over my truck. Thanks for your excellent videos - this one in particular was a real game changer!
Another great project! I ordered the splash fabric in the cat pattern and solid yellow for the lining. Can’t wait to make this bag. Thank you again for sharing your talents and knowledge with us!
WOW! Another great bag to sew, thank you so much Laura you'er awesome!!!! signed up for your news letter, thank you for sharing your a great teacher!!!! Hugs Liz x
My experience is that it will leak eventually, but when I have spilled inside the bag, I've had time to get the bag home, empty & wash it out. Goes through the gentle cycle just fine. I broke a bottle in one of the Splash Fabric bags similar to this. Got it home & it washed out fine.
I always tell people while it's not an underwater bag, you can spill yogurt inside and it won't leak thru and you'll be able to rinse it out at the end of the day.
Thank you so much for this video tutorial; I have just made a bag this afternoon for a friend's birthday present. We met at swimming so it's a great gift for her especially as the pool no longer provide one time use plastic bags for your cozzie :-)
Being someone who loves the outdoors this tutorial was fantasic
The fabric is really special. Very practical and easy to work with.
Always with the interesting and doable projects. I might try this fabric and bag. Thank you for the video 😊👍💕

This is a great bag!! Thank you for the easy to follow tutorial, I'm sure I will find a similar fabric here in UK. The closure is ingenious!
Your channel is my calm place. Thanks for this wonderful tutorial.

The fabric is very soft on the backside just like cotton. It would make an excellent bib
The fabric is very soft and easy to work with and wear. the surface is Matte finish so it's not sticky.
Amazing thanks for sharing
That's very beautiful and I love that it's reversible too. Thanks for sharing.
Love this! I actually have a bag like this and have wanted more but couldn’t find them. Now I can make my own! Thank you Laura!
Thank you for this wet bag tutorial. I love your calm teaching style. This is a great idea.
What a great idea and you, as usual, have provided excellent instruction. Thanks!
Absolutely brilliant! Thank you for sharing!
( a half inch seam allowance give you a 5" bottom not 6" - you lose 1" with seaming...just sayin')
Laura, I need a pattern for an insulated bag that wont leak! Large enough for baby bottles, diapers, cold food and 2 pair of baby shoes. thanks!
it is over 30 dollars a yard with shipping! I truly wanted to make a bag as I love the fabric, but that is just way too much for me with covid cutbacks and my hours cut
you can get something like this at your fabric shops
Hello, Many of our fabrics are $24.95. Also, they are 58" wide so you only need 1/2 yd for $12.50. Also use Laura's code SEW12 for 12% off.
Sew clever‼️THANK YOU🤗

Shut the front door. This is awsome. I might make a small cooler for a drink and lunch with the inside the thing that keeps stuff cooler.

Great tutorial. Just bought some of this fabric and it so soft. Can't wait to sew with it. Thanks so much for the excellent tutorial!
What a great idea!!
If liquid spills in the bag wont it leak thru the sewn seams?
Yes it could. The bag is designed for more wet things not an actual liquid.
My experience is that it will leak eventually, but when I have spilled inside the bag, I've had time to get the bag home, empty & wash it out. Goes through the gentle cycle just fine. I broke a bottle in one of the Splash Fabric bags similar to this. Got it home & it washed out fine.

You are amazing.
Laura, You areAwesome !! excellent instructor .... Hugs & luv
How do you keep the seams from letting water in if it's sewn? Is there a way to fuse it together so it's really waterproof?
You could use Odicoat(waterproof glue/gel) on the seams before the 2 pieces are put together and sewn.
Wonderful instructor. Can't wait to make this bag.
Such a good project! I love your tutorials since you give great tips and clear instructions. Thanks for doing these, I want to get this fabric!
Thanks for this great tutorial and for introducing me to Splash fabric!
