As a tile guy, this tool would be going up against some tough competition with my Flexvolt grinder when cutting tile. I could only see my self using this if I wanted to do some quick dust and water free cuts indoors with it hooded up to a vac. FYI: I just found out Diablo released a 3" mesh style diamond wheel for this tool. They call it the "Diamond Continuous Rim Cut-Off Discs for Masonry"
Yah they’ve had that blade out for a minute it’s a beast of a blade tho I have the Milwaukee version of this tool because It took Dewalt forever to come out with their model like Ryobi has one Rigid has one and Makita does but theirs is trash
I was a little worried about installing the blade after reading a couple of reviews. But it was amazingly easy. Took about 1 minute. Works great ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxjpBI8OOeUXib_iT7UomCrQ-uauwZJ62c . Cuts easily and is perfect for pocket cuts I needed to make for replacing some old deck boards.
It’s a good tool to have but that’s dependent upon your skill and ability to handle this tool. 1st, don’t let the blade guard/guide fool you because it’s about as useless as a brushless Dewalt 20v flash/spot light 😂. Seriously it is. It hinders your cuts as you can’t follow your scribed line without leaning uncomfortably over it to “try” and see that your attempt to cut is straight. And just from looking at that guard, attaching a hose to it for dust control adds more to the hinderance of trying to follow your cut line. Secondly, that guard doesn’t stay in one of its 3 positions when cutting. I find it best cutting in reverse if I have to use the guard, along with the utmost patience. Forward cutting with the guard is absolutely tedious. Now, moving forward, with out the guard, it cuts pretty well for its need but this is the skill/ability factor I stated earlier that is needed. Free handed cutting needs the utmost control here because this little guy is light and spinning fast, if you’re not in control and patient, this can hurt you or harm your cut if it’s needed in a precise manner. Without the guard, your susceptible to more dust and debris, the blade getting pinched and wobbling off course possibly kicking back or out of the cut thus injuring you. Personally I see this as a poor design for a fast buck on Dewalt’s part. I wouldn’t recommend it but that’s the game of choice - is it needed or not. Unlike a circular saw that is much heavier and easier to control this little cutter poses more problems than solutions. My biggest issue is with the guard/guide design. Just as a simple cut off tool with precision needed it’s good, copper demo it’s good, ripping up drywall it’s good. For the price it’s nothing special nor fancy. As for cutting tile, expect chips and imperfections near your finishing cut. When I refer to the guard/guide being disappointing I mean in terms of setting the depth cut and getting going, when that’s being attempted the guard will drop when applying pressure as you push your cut. It’s kind of difficult to explain but if you get one you’ll understand right away. I’d suggest renting or borrowing one if possible before wasting money here.
Extremely insightful comment. I just got this tool myself with two primary purposes in mind: removing flood-damaged sections of drywall and cutting vinyl & aluminum soffit. I was surprised to see that people actually use this for cutting tile. I don't see how it's possible to get a straight, clean cut without having god-like skill and dexterity. And as I think you alluded to, the cut line indicator on the shoe of the dust shroud is absolutely useless because your view of the front of the shoe is completely obstructed by the vacuum/dust extractor connection. I've also experienced the unsettling movement when cutting with the dust shroud/shoe attached, due to the 3-position gaurd being way too easy to move.
The multiuse blade goes through 0.05” stainless like butter. The big batteries really overbalance the tool. A 5 amp is plenty. The new 5 amp powerstack is perfect if you’re going to cut through thicker materials. Guys, seriously, read the manual. It tells you to REMOVE the dust shroud when cutting metal. There’s a good reason for that. The shroud is plastic. It can melt from the heat, or even burn. You don’t want the possibly red hot particles going into your vacuum! Inside the shroud is a metal cover over the top of the blade for metal cutting. I cut tile and stone in one pass and have the front edge of the blade turning down so as not to chip the material.
the best tool to have when installing rigid vinyl or laminate plank (the type of plank that does not bend when you hold one end of the plank) and when cutting finished material (were blue tape or a piece of wood is needed when preventing tear out or chipping).
This tool is better than using a miter saw or a table saw or cross cut or oscillator for vinyl flooring? Very curious because this tool looks like it would be awesome to do all the cuts since it’s so small
@@tatebraboy336 you can still use miter saw to do cross cut, but if you needed one tool, the compact 3" saw will do it all. You will have good control with it. The oscillator tool is bested used for cutting existing door jams to slide the flooring under.

Thanks for another useful video. Does it have a standard size arbor hole so that a common angle grinder blade can fit on it or require a dedicated blade? The evolution miter saw has that special arbor hole which causes it to only use a special blade which means limited availability and so on. Nice tool but Dewalt really missed a great feature to really make this a flexible tool and that is to make it with a variable speed trigger... 👎 I was going to purchase one today but then found that out. Also an option to attach a handle. Maybe on the 2.0 version.

@@LandbergTileTV What do you recommend as far as a small cordless powertool for wood cutting?
@@andrewampaya124 Dewalt has a 12v small circular saw that is small and safe.
I'm looking to get the dust shroud for my dewalt grinder for when I'm cutting miters.. have u used one?
Thanks for another useful video. Does it have a standard size arbor hole so that a common angle grinder blade can fit on it or require a dedicated blade? The evolution miter saw has that special arbor hole which causes it to only use a special blade which means limited availability and so on.
I don't think that tool would be worth buying if a person already owns a proper 4½ inch angle grinder.
The arbor works with 3/8 and 9/16
Do u think it can cut Clay pipe ?
Thank you for the video. A question for you, what is the folding work table that you are using? It looks great.
Dewalt table
@@LandbergTileTV many thanks from down under!!
Would this work good for drywall with the shroud ?
Nice tool but did you notice that the markings that indicate direction of rotation are wrong?
I’m a dewalt guy, I’m a tool junky, I’m a carpenter/do it aller. I honestly don’t see a point to this saw! I already have a tool that can do everything here, it’s called a angle grinder!
I guess it's safer than angle grinder no?
@@goumansf7370 it’s probably a little safer and the dust port but I still won’t buy it.
Not available in Europe yet.
Omg. Theyre getting smaller and smaller. Question. Will this guy replaces an angle grinder?
I just use a diamond blade on my 6" dewalt angle grinder simple a quicker
What model is this?
Any chance you could review Rubi 45degree trowel?, please.
This one? Rubi Notched Trowels 45 Degree Rubiflex Open Handle
@@LandbergTileTV yes, that the one. Thanks
I was wondering about the fold out table your using possible link?👍

How much that one
Soooo….. it’s a grinder? Don’t they already make one of them?
Grinder with a vacuum attachment!!
Sangat menarik
why you turn off volume during record cutting, is it too loud?
yes, too loud for sure
How loud is it? As loud as a vacuum?
Not as loud as a shop vac
Прекрасен циркуляр.
I like it
my 4" angle grinder is fine
I’m so glad I was really worried
Nice tool but Dewalt really missed a great feature to really make this a flexible tool and that is to make it with a variable speed trigger... 👎
I was going to purchase one today but then found that out. Also an option to attach a handle. Maybe on the 2.0 version.
Great point
Personally I'd rather just use the grinder
I have the Milwaukee and the Dewalt. The Milwaukee is a waste of money and just keeps cutting out and is a worthless purchase. The Dewalt is a beast and I have never stalled it. It was one of the greatest purchases.
You need to use at least a 4.0 battery
@@jetskisteve8351 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 6.0, same issue. Maybe the new high output CP2.5 and XC5.0 will make a difference, but I will never buy those batteries just to make “one” of my many 12v tools work properly.
Any updates on that Milwaukee cut off tool? Ever try it with the HO batteries?
@@ChrisBranleh no! Gave up on that POJ after I got the Dewalt. The Milwaukee was tossed into a junk tool box collecting dust with all the other headache tool. I will probably never use it again unless I convert it to a grinder. The Dewalt is just so effortless and nice to use. Now if someone can come out with better metal cut off blades, not just one use only, that would be great. I eat through blades very quickly.
@@akaredcrossbow I picked it up from HD for $99 tool only the other day so I’ll be testing it for myself. Will return if not satisfied. Thanks for the reply
Is there a blade for wood?
I don't think so
