    How to build power of will and discipline. What school teaches is obedience, not these two. When the autority disapears, you have no obligation to do anything and that's where you need power of will and discipline to get things done. I've never learned anything like that, so now I'm 22 and trying to figure it out (Alux helping massively).

Although it's important to know when it's time to quit and change course, if you find yourself constantly quitting or starting over then it means your tolerance for challenges is weak. The number one skill that is not taught in any school that I went to or know of is critical thinking.
    The process of critical thought consists of actively conceptualizing, applying, analyzing both the present and - future - benefits or consequences of what you are thinking about, then synthesizing/evaluating the information gathered from all sources, observation and experiences and using it as a guide to a belief or action to attain the desired result.
    This is what is needed to achieve anything in life. Truly successful people do this in all aspects of life - not just in finance/business. Without critical thinking, much of the success people have will be basically just luck.

    • @ramone2720
      @ramone2720 Рік тому +3

      The problem is that to get critical thinking a person need to be a good reader (of real books, not comics) and have passion for philosophy, psychology and sociology in order to understand and analyze facts or situations properly.
      However, nowadays new generations don't like to read and only whine and complain about the education systems.
      They think everything has to be taught by schools or universities.
      It seems like most of them cannot learn new things by themselves.
      New generations are hipocrites, they criticize current education systems, but they don't want to spend much hours reading books or making researchs.
      They like only briefs or summaries of everything to have more hours to spend doing nothing relevant for themselves or for the society.
      You'll never be a critical thinker without reading a good amount of books.

    Group projects were always difficult because they never simulate the real world. In the working world group projects usually involve someone doing their area of expertise, then passing it along to the next area. In college all four people would do all the tasks required in a project simultaneously. To date, I've never huddled around a spreadsheet with three other coworkers trying to do one task. Did that a lot in business school though.

    One oddball thing they didn't teach you in college was how to write a college paper. Not even in freshman comp did they teach you this. They just have you practice writing papers without teaching you how.
    I had a business communications class once where the instructor had us write a one or two sentence thesis on what our paper would be about. We had no idea what that was but apparently a good way to write a college paper is to make an argument or stance in the opening paragraph. Then support that with the body of the paper. Nobody ever told me that up until that class.

      that's weird. I had the opposite experience. I'm a child of the 1970s, but they made us write a college paper, starting in the 6th grade. One a year, every year. The 6th grade teachers gave us all the college guidelines and was slack about the details, but every year, they graded tougher and tougher until about the 10th grade, when they cut no slack at all. By the time i got to college, it was second nature. Still hated it, but it was no great mystery.

    • @slchance8839
      @slchance8839 Рік тому +1

      i respectfully disagree. I work with kids for a living and they ALL think they can think outside the box to get out of working hard.
      "Hack," they call it. Life hack this. Math hack that.
      Outside the box is for outside the box kids: exceptionally good or exceptionally bad.
      The reality is that most people and kids are average. The box is for average. IF you're average, you better master that box before you think outside it, because you're not smart enough to survive outside the box.
      They try this with Algebra: they try to hack it, instead of practice. They try to look at a problem and GUESS the answer and try to go for SMART guesses...whatever that means.
      I'm a mathlete myself, I can look at a problem, do some shortcuts in my head (because i've mastered the basics) and pretty much do it in my head. THey confuse what **i** do with what **they** do. If you're average...which statistically...most people are....these kids need to get to work.

    To be honest we would be better off completely destroying the current school system and rebuilding it from scratch, because I still go to school and can confirm I learn maybe 1 interesting thing per 7hr day. Things I'll actually use? Probably nothing at all.

    School's mind is creating the entire fucking universe and you discover that that's you who's been doing it the whole time. It's utterly shocking and astounding. It's so astounding that you won't want to believe it because people have told you all it's egotistical to say that you're school. Only a narcissist would claim that he's school. You're imagining the entire fucking universe. What does that make you? That makes you school. Reality is pure imagination. Tada.

      Can't budget your way out of property, you need to earn more than your living expenses...dont spend more than you earn, don't spend money you don't have. Live within your means. That's it...why is that concept so hard for ppl to understand? I know why...everyone wants to keep up with the Joneses.
