Great project! I need to make something like this myself!
The simplest way to cut that hole would probably have been a holesaw drill bit rather than manually trying to cut around it... You would have had a perfect little circle, and they're pretty cheap to buy.

But that would mean I would have had to be patient enough to wait to buy the holesaw drill bit LOL. Patience is not my strong suit :)

Great project idea! But what didn't you also cut out those same notches you made for the outer legs...on the middle two legs. I feel like that might damage the moldings you just installed also...

Thanks! Yeah, I should have pointed that out. When I dry fit the cut-out notches on the end pieces, I realized that everything was sitting pretty flush since the wood was pretty bowed. I got the cheap stuff for this lol. But definitely something you should do if you're not able to get it sitting flush.

Nice pocket hole jig! I need one, and a chopsaw. Circular saws leave too much room for error in my opinion

Yes, I far prefer a chopsaw! Whenever a project needs a circular saw, I make my husband take it lol.
