Hyacinth flowers are a strong-smelling spring-blooming perennial that I LOVE having for some of my earliest cut flower bouquets. You'll need to plant them in the fall for spring blooms, though-and if you wait until late in the fall, you can probably score some clearance bulbs, too! Here's how I plant hyacinth bulbs and a few tips on the process. LINKS (affiliates): Bulb auger: amzn.to/41ojAfM D...

@@ByBrittanyG Ah, thank you! :)
Mine came today and I just finished setting it up. Assembly was so simple. Excited to see some plants in the coming weeks.
You're going to love it! I'm about to take mine apart and clean everything (found a couple aphids!) and then start a new round of everything. Enjoy the process!
Hello, I bought a Christmas arrangement with a young Hyacinth in it. Now the root and white flower’ s tips have turned brown. The bulb is not below soit by the way. Can this plant recover? I am currently in the French Riviera and in an apartment that’s 74 dégrées. My husband likes the apartment warm. Also, we are back in the US in a few weeks and won’t be around for 3 months. By the way, I like your jacket. Will you please give me brand name and style.
Hi there! The jacket is actually just from Target :) But I got it last year, so I doubt they have the same one right now. Maybe when you're in the states you can do some browsing! As for the hyacinth, it's tricky not knowing the exact conditions it's in-but I think you could definitely try to save the bulb to replant. I would recommend letting the flower and foliage die off completely in a sunny spot. While the leaves are dying, they are gathering energy from the sun to store in the bulb for next year's growth. Then when everything is brown, trim the dead foliage off and store the bulb in a cool, dry place. You can try to force it indoors again next winter, or you could try planting outdoors in the fall if the location you're in gets a long enough period of cold during the winter. Hyacinth bulbs need about 3 months of temps around 40-45ish F to bloom in the spring. I don't have experience forcing hyacinth bulbs by cooling them in the fridge because it gets quite cold where I'm at, but you might want to look into that if your temperatures don't get low enough for long enough. Good luck!
Thank you for your quick reply and the recommandations. I’ll let you know sometime in April 😊
It took me forever to get my mind around fruit tree pruning. I still have a long way to go but I’d highly recommend Dave Wilson Nursery videos featuring Tom Spellman. They’re OLD videos so the quality isn’t great but the information is top tier. Listen and watch enough of them and you’ll get it 😅
Thank you so much!! Looking them up now, I'm probably going to have that one be Mike's (my husband) realm but I want to know how to do it too!
It is my first time on your channel and I have just subscribed. Thank you so much for sharing. Keep up the good work. All the best on this journey
Hi Carrie! Subed right back :) A bit jealous of your weather though, your December garden looks a little different from mine!!
Thank you so much for subscribing to my channel. Oh yes we have good weather here 😀😀😃😃
So glad to see a MD garden! I’m in Southern MD, 7B.
Hey neighbor! So you're just a little warmer than we are :) We jumped grow zones from 6B to 7A with the restructuring of the grow zones this year...kind of scary! But we're still right on the line in Western/Northern MD.
Fine garden tour.👍
Thanks so much for stopping by!
My flowering cactus I haven’t been able to get flowers any suggestions would be appreciated Happy New Years
What kind of cactus is it? Sometimes it's just about age and the plant needing to be more mature :(
Beautiful love to see these plants how to growing .
Thanks so much!
You have a gorgeous collection of plants! How do you prevent or deal with pests like mealy bugs? I’ve had to get rid of so many plants because I could never win the battle once a plant got mealys.
I quarantine anything new that comes into my home, but my collection has been pretty stable for a while now. I also like to take the plants to the sink and rinse off the foliage, tops and bottoms as best as I can, about once a month or so to clean off the leaves. Anything I see signs of pests on gets a soapy bath and isolated immediately, too. It's all about regular inspections and isolating any problem plants, but I get it--it's a lot, and pests are so stressful!!
Fantastic plants🎄💚
Thanks for visiting <3
Sir/ Madam your video quality is very nice, video seo is not good so you are not getting enough views, I want to be manager of your channel, I will rank video and design intro, outro, super thumbnail.
Thanks for the feedback, but I'm happy with the quality of my videos for now :)

That Linearis is amazing. Can you give us some tips?
Ty!! I actually have an older video on it here: ua-cam.com/video/2UHOakhO2as/v-deo.html But the basics are plenty of bright, indirect light, water when the soil dries out. I haven't repotted in years lol. And it gets pretty average household humidity levels!
Beautiful room and plats. Thanks for sharing.
I'm glad you liked it!
Absolutely beautiful 😍
Thank you! 😊
Soooo Beautiful
tysm <3
Beautiful plants ❤ I would buy some cutting of your monstera, instead of you throwing it away next time😊
Haha most of the time I just take them to the monthly plant swap that goes on in my city!
@ByBrittanyG 🤣 A girl can try🤣🤣
💚
Mine looks like wrinkles in the leaves what's that from, fat part of ric rack? Please help
Sometimes my stems get wrinkly if I withhold water for too long. If the soil has been consistently dry, it's probably that. I trim them off if they don't rebound.
Hi! I'm in Frederick and have been to Take Root! Hi neighbor! 😂
Hi neighbor!! She's the best! My linearis is from Take Root. Surely a bunch of others, too, but I can't keep track lol
@ByBrittanyG You have some beautiful plants! Yes, Take Root is a great shop. I have filmed shopping videos there and it's been a while so I will stop in soon. Great to meet you! I'm Mona. 🙂
@@planttherapy1860 You too!! Have you been out to Thanksgiving Farms?? Awesome owners there too. It's kind of far from us, but they are worth the drive to the other side of the county when I want to browse cool stuff or get perennials and annuals for the garden!!
@ByBrittanyG Yes, I have been shopping there for years. Dutch Plant Farm, too! I love gardening, and now my house is full of houseplants but mostly hoyas. 🙂
to stop a Monstera growboard from toppling you can drill a hook in the ceiling and tie the grow board to the ceiling.
Smart!! Thanks!
I really enjoyed your plants, a beautiful collection. 💚❣️
Thank you so much!
how old is your linearis?
About 5 years I'd say. It has been in the same pot this whole time, and when I got it, it was just starting to grow over the sides of the pot
Does your hoyas bloom pretty fast after you get them?? Do they take a long time..????MINDY
most of mine have taken a few years, but if you get one that's pretty big or mature, it might bloom faster!
@@ByBrittanyG THANK YOU SO MUCH....I have one for many years. It bloomed once but never again..
Time to propagate those shavings! Yays!
more props than I can handle lol, I gave away a bunch!
Wunderschöne Pflanzen. Herzliche Grüße aus Bayern ! 🌹🌵🌟
Danke! <3
Interesting, thanks for sharing! Maybe I'll try them next year!
They are lovely and smell so good, you might be able to catch some bulbs on sale after the holidays this year too
You are so lucky to have a room that is so perfect for indoor plants! Sunlight all day long!😊
Thank you! It definitely is, a real bear to run the AC in during the summer lol, but it's worth it!
Lovely and very healthy collection. Pefect chaise for reading too 😊 Do you have a link for it? Thanks for sharing.
Yes! It's the Denna Chaise from Joybird. I hemmed and hawed over ordering it bc of bad reviews about Joybird in general when I searched online, but we had a great experience. You can order color/fabric swatches beforehand, too. If you get it, definitely wait for a good sale, they are often running them. joybird.com/single-arm-chaises/denna-single-arm-chaise/?srsltid=AfmBOorBtz9MwKdi0go_KfQkQWUJeMupNjVUN5aanhMjSa7I4SSuOJnh
Forgot I also did a review about it on my website! www.bybrittanygoldwyn.com/joybird/
What an amazing collection 💚 I also love love love your sunroom 💚
Thank you so much!! It's a dream space, I feel lucky to have it!
So Beautiful Video😍😍
Glad you liked it!
Omgosh beans EVERYWHERE, you’ll find those dropped beans for years lol
Yes!! I dumped a bunch in a plant outside and they rooted themselves lol
I miss having a room just for plants and book reading. We moved from California to Virginia, and down sized including living space; house to an apartment because we're wanting to stay mobile for a few. About 5 of my plants died moving here, after thriving in California. Different climate, lighting, etc. Your plants look so healthy and happy!🪴
Thank you so much! I can't image that shock to them. When we moved into this house, it was just a few miles away from the old house. But the change in conditions definitely did a few in and had some of the others suffering! I try to find a spot where plants are happy and then let them be. I learned through a lot of trial and error that too much fussing over them can sometimes be really bad :)
Where did you get this and what is it called? Can I find it on Amazon? I kinda like this. :)
Yeah, it's super convenient! There are a bunch of different brands, here's the one we got, but I assume they are all pretty similar! amzn.to/41crUiL
Did you use 2x4's?
Hi! I'm using 1x6 pine for most of it, 1x2 pine for the horizontal support pieces on the floor
Yes. My treadmill used to be an expensive dust collecting clothes hanger, now it's a cat tree.
You know I thought my cats would hate this bc I made it for them, thank god they didn't
caring for the bugs is so cute and wholesome most people dont rlly gaf 😭
I care too much about the bugs sometimes :( but I guess not in the case of this branch haha
Interesting , always seen videos of those kind of systems from home made hydroponics
Yeah, the DIY route is definitely an option! I think their target market for this is people who don't want to or don't have the time/space to DIY. Definitely a good system-my first time growing completely hydroponically, and I've really enjoyed watching the process!
I’m doing this now, and just wanted to say, yours are beautiful!
Thanks so much!! It's very fun :)
WOOOW... that's more beautiful then climbing ones!
I think both are beautiful, but I'm definitely a sucker for trailing plants :)
So pretty 😍. Can't wait until mine grows that long!
it will get there!!
Pothos love light and the rooms you are showing are not low light! There are nice plants, but they like to dry out before watering or they will rot! Love your pothos!!!!!!!!!
Yes, they do prefer bright, indirect light, but they do just fine in lower light conditions. I had a pothos growing in water for over a year at my desk in an office with no windows, only overhead lighting on during the day M-F :) I also have them in my dining room, which doesn't have any windows (it's in the middle of the house), and they do great!
Hi, are you interested in reviewing the Smart Irrigation Controller?
Probably not right now, but thank you :)
@@ByBrittanyG Maybe next spring?
Great ideas. We typically dig out the grass (wow, work that is tough and wasteful).
Yes it is tough! And then where do you put it all?! That's how we ended up with a giant mound for growing watermelon, haha. The first beds we put in, we dug them out. Never again (if I can help it)
I got tired of dealing with my grass yard so sprayed the heck out of it to kill the grass. In the spring, I'm having it cleared out and having a business put a plastic sheet and stone on the entire yard. I'll just put above ground pots and planters around instead of planting anything in the ground. What you're doing is way too much trouble for a 77 year old woman!!!
Hey, you gotta do what's best for you!! I will say that the previous owner here did that for the front landscaping, and it was a real bear removing it all--but my husband got a great workout haha.
❤❤❤❤
💚❤️💚❤️💚❤️💚❤️💚
How do you get yours so silvery?
I think it helps to rinse off the foliage--whenever I water, I take it to the sink and clean off the whole plant :)
Looks great! Do you know give or take what the diameter of the branch is? I found a birch branch but I don’t know if it will support larger plants. Maybe 4 inch pots but I’m not sure about larger ones and I’m not sure how to tell. I know birch is pretty strong but i would hate to have everything fall if if we’re too heavy. I know this will depend on a variety of factors I’m trying to get a general idea. Also, how do you attach it to the ceiling? Do you think two ceiling swag hooks in the joists of the ceiling would work?
Hey there! Thanks so much, this one is a little under 2 inches at the smallest diameter. Right now I have 3 largeish 6-8" pots hanging on it, and I've had as many as 5 pots ranging in size from 4-8 inches. As long as I keep the ones on the end pretty close to where the hooks are, I'm not worried about stability. As for hanging it from the ceiling, I just used two screw hooks directly into the ceiling joists. I was worried about using swag hooks with anchors because I didn't know how many plants I'd ultimately be hanging on the branch. But screw hooks screwed directly into the ceiling joists is SUPER stable!
