    Another major difference, is that the flower from your Mom's is much more dramatic/striking, whereas the flowers of yours are more like a common aphyllum in terms of shape and color.

      I have both. S. anthonyanus tends to only flower, for me, after I've cut the branch tips off in the spring. D. anguliger tends to bloom on its own, for me, without any branch tipping. I fertilize the anthonyanus with a high phos. fertilizer in spring, and high phos. fertilizer for anguliger in the fall.

    I have a Brazil plant and she’s been doing very well since I got her in September. I think she’s still pretty young, only seven leaves and not too big either. But I’m concerned about a few things: 1) she has a few spots/holes on a couple of her leaves and I’m not sure why. She just got some on her most recent leaf and I think it might be from the sun exposure. 2) One leaf has a brown spot on the edge and is curling. 3) I’ve noticed a few leaves have been curling lately. I water her every 7-10 days and I read that they’re native to warm/humid environments so I take her into the shower with me every now and then. I’m in college in Nashville but I’m from Chicago and plan to take her back home and I’m worried she won’t do as well. Do you have any tips on how I can take better care of her?

    So i have a chameleon zz and it had pretty color but now its all green. I do have some new sprouts that look like they will come in yellow. Is that common? I have been watering once a week, so i will be pulling back on that. But it has grown a good 8- 10 inches taller in the last year!

      This is totally normal! The ZZ chameleon’s leaves emerge yellow and "harden off" to green as they age.

    Can you let me know what yellow leaves mean?

    • @ByBrittanyG
      @ByBrittanyG 4 дні тому

      It really depends, has the soil been consistently wet or dry? If wet, them it's likely due to overwatering, which prevents the flow of oxygen to the plant's roots. If dry, it's probably underwatering and needs a good drink :)

      This is perennial lavender (where I live in zone 7), so I'll plant them in the ground when they are rooted. Fall is a great time to plant perennials! It's a tad late in the season, but our growing season seems to be getting a bit longer each year, so I'll probably throw these in the ground and see if they take.

    Thank you very much for sharing. I was picking some this year as well. I was just putting them back into the soil 😅 Next year I will do it different. Thank you for this video! I have one that has been in the same pot for over 2 years and huge, but has very long vines. I have been thinking about re-potting it and cutting the vines, but I'm not sure how big of a pot I should use. Any suggestions? I'm hoping I can propagate the long vines.

    • @ByBrittanyG
      @ByBrittanyG 13 днів тому

      You'll want to repot it in a pot that's just slightly larger than the existing one. I usually size up about an inch or two. And make sure to use some fresh well-draining soil...I'll put in a little later in the bottom, add the plant, and then fill in around it!

    Love your videos. I have a question. Is there a philodendron or monstera plant that grow large leaves but the plant itself stays small or short? I’m limited on space but love the large leaves. I can’t seem to find any information about plants with large leaves but short or small plant size.

    • @ByBrittanyG
      @ByBrittanyG 17 днів тому

      Hey Sandy, thanks! I would say maybe you'd have success growing this plant or a monstera deliciosa, but a single plant (many plants have multiple "plants" in one pot). You could keep it prunes from the bottom and train the stem up a pole to keep things more compact. It would probably be easier to start with a small or medium-sized plant and train it as it goes.

    I'd be curious to find someone who has owned this for a number of years. It's a nice design but they go out of their way to avoid mentioning what it is made of which should be the most important feature. When asked they will say "Chinese Cedar" which isn't related to Western red cedar, and is actually a fir for which you can expect limited lifespan outdoors. Might be best to buy this and and cover it with real cedar.

    • @ByBrittanyG
      @ByBrittanyG Місяць тому

      I saw the discussion you posted in the FB group about this before buying mine. In your post comments, someone stated they compared the Chinese cedar with domestic cedar and reported the cedar used by BYD was more dense than domestic and a better product for lasting longer. And that the Chinese cedar is frequently used in construction in Asia due to its durability. It smells 100% like cedar inside my greenhouse, and I'm planning to seal the outside yearly regardless of the material to help prolong its life. But since it's a new product, all of us early adopters are all kind of guinea pigs!!😂

      But that would mean I would have had to be patient enough to wait to buy the holesaw drill bit LOL. Patience is not my strong suit :)

    How do you get yours so full? Mine is growing a lot, but just looks like a string of leaves at this point lol

      I know it's hard but...pruning! I trim my plant all the time. When you cut the stems, new growth will sprout kind of at an angle. Over time, this creates a really full look

    Would be nice to know what kind of "plastic bag" you store them in? Will a ziplock bag do or do they need air?

    • @ByBrittanyG
      @ByBrittanyG Місяць тому

      You can put them in a ziplock! Just make sure they are totally dry first. I sometimes let mine sit on paper towels for several days just to make sure. I have a few piles going right now :)

    I bought a compacta last April or May (It's now Sept 2024) Boy, is she a s l o w grower! I have go my mom's Hoya Carnosa almost one year ago. The plant is about 60 years old, and as far as I know, she has only bloomed twice. I assume that mom was snipping the peduncle off after the blooms were done! I have it in a west window with bright filtered light. She is growing well, but so far, no peduncles.....

    I've heard that milkweed has many varities and one 1 is edible. I found some pods like you have. Are they the edible kind?

    Do the top leaves end up growing larger? I'm asking cuz all of my top leaves seem to be small. I'm wondering if they'll end up growing or are they missing something?

    • @ByBrittanyG
      @ByBrittanyG 2 місяці тому

      If the new growth is small, it's probably not getting enough light. I have mine in pretty bright indirect light.
