There is a reason I have never shown this room in a video before-it is a cluttered mess of a space where old furniture and pillows go to die. But, today I’ll transform it into a cozy and beautiful guest bedroom with cottage appeal. As I paint, wallpaper, and decorate this tiny space, I’ll share six design hacks for making a room look and feel bright, spacious, and stylish. We’ll also go to one of my favorite thrift stores to find some unique decor to add personality to the room. And of course, I’ll be doing everything on a tight budget! Let me know what you think!

I have a wonderful tip if you are going to pound a nail on a wallpapered wall. Before you hammer the nail, take an exact knife and cut a small v into the wallpaper. Lift up the flap and pound your nail into the exposed wall. When you want to remove the picture at a later time, just pull out the nail, bring the wallpaper flap down, and add a small dab of glue to the paper. Your nail hole is covered without damaging the wallpaper! So simple and easy!

I believe you are correct. The black anchors the room and balances the femininity in the room.
I am with you can't stand gray walls or cabinets. But I surely like the buttery creams. I hope gray has run its course.

What an awesome makeover! Love the bedding, the wallpaper, (it’s so pretty), love the shelf and your styling of it and mostly the redo of the armoire, gorgeous and perfect color for the room. Like the people above, the armoire is too beautiful for the mirror and the other frame you hung on. I love the armoire as it was after finishing. Don’t mean to criticize, just my opinion….but it is your room and I know you will enjoy it so much! Like another said, leave the door open to enjoy and admire! Thanks for sharing with us.

I ABSOLUTELY love your guest room makeover. My husband of 50 years passed away unexpectedly 6 months ago. I’ve been trying to decorate some rooms in the house a little differently. Everything in my house reminded me of him. It wasn’t a bad thing but I’ve been so sad. Thanks for the inspiration.😊
My condolences for your loss. Understand - it's not a bad thing but a sad thing. It's nice to give things a nice cleaning for Spring, although I'm not looking forward to it the pollen.

My deepest sympathy. For me, it's been 12 years and I recently moved, but there are always memories that hurt and there and many that make me smile. I hoe you will continue those new projects.The memories will become more precious because he will always be with you.

That "orange" Armoire, over powered the room. That pretty green helped it to visually sink, and fits the room much better. ❤

I would have put the plates somewhere else and hung that mirror with the ribbon there. Seems like the perfect place to check your appearance before you leave the room. It’s very cozy and I like the decor ❤

I love the room. I'd be interested to see it again in about a year. My guess is the drapes and mirror on the armoire will be different as you find something you like better or just can't help yourself wanting change. I grew up in the antique business, so my home has constantly evolved, as yours does. I think that's why I enjoy your channel so much. We both have a love of beautiful things but have limited budgets. This forces creativity and out of the box thinking. You often amaze me with your abilities. I'm at a point in life where I don't have the ability to make major changes to items I buy and have very limited space, so I really enjoy seeing what you create each week. You are always my first stop on Mondays. Keep up the good work, and God bless.

Lovely--I like how you don't hesitate to make things over. I would have debated for weeks over painting the armoire and wouldn't dream of putting a nail in the front of it--but you did and it turned out fabulous in every way. You give me the courage to "break" the rules and not hold things so sacred.
I don't mind doing things like this, but my husband??? Geez...it takes an act of Congress to get him on board with many things like this, lol.
I also like it all apart from the mirror and picture hanging on the wardrobe. The wardrobe is so pretty, it doesn't need the distraction

That is such a lovely space now. Your guests will think they are staying at a high end Hotel or Inn. So warm and welcoming. Make over videos are always fun to watch, and you present ideas we can all achieve.
I love everything about this room. The colors, the decor, the arrangement of furniture…there’s nothing I don’t love. The wallpaper is beautiful. The window coverings are such a nice contrast with the more tailored look offset by the fringe trim. I can’t say enough good about this room. Any guest would be charmed to spend a night in this beautiful room!

I liked everything except the mirror on the armoire, it felt too big for the door, especially compared to the hanging on the other door meant to balance the mirror. The wallpapering was impressive! And I love that you know how to repair, renew, and repurpose furniture.😊

I watch scores of DYI's make overs on You tube, but you take the cake. You have the best ideas, and can transform anything into something more wonderful. Sometimes the pieces that you buy are perfect the way they are, but when you turn them into something else, I am never disappointed. You have real vision. Always a joy to watch🎉
I would have hung the oval mirror on the back of the bedroom door instead...that armoire is too beautiful to hang anything on the front of it, just my opinion, which you did ask for. 😉 I love, love, love the William Morris wallpaper, 😍. I love the covered plug and light switch plates, understood your reluctance to paint the wardrobe but agree with your decision. I think the dark mirror was too heavy looking and think it wouldn’t have needed the frame on the other door to look balanced if the mirror had been lighter looking. Your small bedroom is lovely. I really appreciate you giving hints on making small rooms look larger.

My favorite part is the odd, skinny shelf. Absolutely something that I would swoop on or have cart envy over in a thrift shop! My favorite items to decorate with are always the ones that people say ,"Oooh, I love that! What was it originally?" and I can jump in excitedly with, "Who knows, but I got it for only $2.99 at the thrift store!"😂🤣
Yes! Ever since seeing a couple of pieces I’ve turned into other pieces, my preacher’s wife and her mother love to go thrifting and find “challenge items” for me to make over! 😁
