I have a few MXL with 8, 10, 12 and 16lbs mono line, they are really fun reels, we have release a handful of white marlin, blue marlin and sailfish with them! So much fun!
Smooth is a relative term...these Avets are not "Shimano" smooth. Reeling them out of the box feels heavy and somewhat labored, and you can certainly feel the gears working. I honestly thought something was wrong with my first Avet I purchased (SX G2) and I came to learn that unfortunately this is normal for avets
I was debating between G-loomis Pro blue and Phenix Black diamond 760H. After watching your review on the rod, I decided to trust the Pro so I went with the Phenix :). I will pair it with the new Tekota 501HGA (I'm waiting for the lefty to come out).
I think you'll enjoy the rod. I have two G-loomis (freshwater), while they are great rods, there's something about the lightweight and power of the Black Diamond that's hard to find anywhere else!
I just bought the avet sx 5.3 upgrading my crappy okuma coldwater. I plan on using it only for rockfish and lingcod at the farrallos. Any recommendation for a rod upgrade in the $150 range? I currently run an ugly stick tiger 7' med heavy 30-60lb and it works great but I would like something a bit lighter yet strong enough to handle 1lb sinkers all day. Any thoughts and input highly appreciated.
I got one MX Raptor 3 years ago, still using it till now🥰

Its ashame they quit making the neptunes heart color. I didnt get into avets until after it was discontinued
I didn't know they stopped, that's a darn shame!!

I own a dozen of them. Made in USA and awesome quality.

Nice, i ended up gettin the sx raptor to pair with the black diamond 700ml 10-30.
That sounds like a sweet setup!
I have the same rod and I’m looking too do the same? How did you like this combo?
I personally love it!

My buddy uses the Phenix Abyss rods for lingcod and it handles 1lb lead well. I like them but decided on a shorter black diamond.
For jigging shimano trevala are great bang for the buck. Paired with a avet mxj raptor I have pulled up many double vermilion and 36” + lingcod.
Why is it so hard to find an Avet spinning reel? They have a lot of baitcaster reels I hate them coz I can't use it.
I'm not sure Avet makes a spinning reel, a search of their site doesn't show any.
@@WavesTrails I noticed that
Maybe because they don't make them?
@@ThePhilDEEZ I wish they did, there’s pretty much no USA made spinning reels but the ones made in Japan are real nice.
One sexy reel 😂
How’s the casting on this compared to the Mc
Slightly smoother, but barely noticeable. My fishing buddy has a few.
What line did you put on the Avet? I have the same set up and can't decide what line to go with.
Just 50lb yellow Power Pro. Just my opinion, it balances the power and capacity of the reel well. Thanks for watching and tight lines!!!
The second speed is low Gear
Must be expensive.
$230 non mc, $280 mc version. Not terrible
ok, lets start the video in good light and then do the bulk of the video in bad light.
The avet is my uncles company
That's pretty cool! You must have an endless supply of those awesome reels!
