Avet's Generation 2 Reels add impressive new features, like an updated frame with new look and feel, 40% more drag output, increased line capacity, and a ratcheting Glide Plate/Lever System, making one of the Avet SX G2 Reels a great choice for your next fishing trip.

Great little reel. I was lucky I bought a new one for $225. Throwing it on my Shimano Terez.
Michael L it’s a workhorse forsure
Nice review man, what rod did you have in there and what’s the specs of it plz?
I know I said 400Ft of 50lb braid I meant “Yards”
How does it cast? Fast or slow
Mono is cheaper to brother, I m older man and 20 lb. test is enuff to bring in huge saltwater fish.I know trust me ..Save $$$$ on line
Yes sir thanks man! Hard to convince the young bucks sometimes and I’m only 27
Where it is cheaper for mono, the braid can stay on your spool for a much longer time
Nice review brotha, do you think this reel is good for the bay area charters? (Rockfish, lingcod, halibut, salmon, striper, sturgeon, etc...)? I was thinking this reel (either the 5.3 like your or the raptor), or the MXJ. I plan to pair the reel i get with the shimano trevala 6’6” Heavy. Thanks
Oscar Garcia this is a perfect reel for that man! I use mine for everything you mentioned and had a blast w it
SeaDawgFishiN nice, is there any reason for a 2 speed around here in the bay area? Should i spring for the raptor?
Oscar Garcia my bad for the late reply and if your sturgeon fishing it wouldn’t be a bad idea since they burn out reels after about 10 good fish having that two speed definitely saves your gears
You think that will handle some medium sized shark and some 50 lb yellow tail tuna?
Ben B no way lol, get an accurate valiant two speed for those
SeaDawgFishiN lol Alrite thanks for the feed back. Would a accurate valiant cast pretty far fishing from the pier ? And if so what size reel do you recommend?
Ben B takes a little to adjust too but yeah same as an avet
SeaDawgFishiN Alrite thanks I might just go with the avet lx for some medium sized sharks and small yellow tail
Ben B that’ll do the job
