I got to say, you are a life saver. Just bought a 2018 3500 SRW Laramie with the Cummins, stepping up from a 1500 5.7 Hemi to pull our camper, I had so many questions about maintenance and bit of fear taking the diesel leap but your videos gave me the confidence to pull the trigger. Thanks for your time and hard work, it's helping a lot of us out. So glad I found ya.

Hey Marion - Just completed my front/rear differential and transfer case oil change on my 2016 Ram. I used your recommended extractor pump for both the front and rear differentials. Everything worked great. The transmission oil/filter change is next. Thank you for your great videos! Dave

Thanks for all the videos. I bought a 16 new and before I did I watched lots of videos. I never had a diesel so lots to learn. I check the book on when to do things to it, but all the videos makes it easier to get things done and not screw up. Thanks

I have a 2020 Ram 3500 and just hit 30,000 I have purchased a Banks Rear differential cover for the rear because it it supposed to be a better design (keeps everything cooler etc etc) it also has a drain plug, sight glass and fill plug (plugs have magnets). $425 was expensive but not having to drop the cover should save me about 1-1 1/2 hours per change, that coupled with the fact that I would be like you and purchase a new gasket every time (downtime is money) the cover will pay for itself. I’m not sure how you feel about amsoil but I use it in everything.

The poor location of the vent line is responsible for creamy white fluid in the front diff according to a mechanic I met recently. Mine was reported as such recently. He said spraying out the front left wheel well with a hose can put water into the vent line. He relocates the vent line up into the engine compartment. I'm thinking of asking my mechanic to do this soon. What do you think?

I wonder if AAM added the fill line on the rear diff cover specifically for Ram in an effort to reduce viscosity resistance for fuel economy. Seems like AAM would have relocated the hole in the cover if they designed the diff to run with less oil. I run mine with the level to the bottom of the hole.

having dealt with oil changes a few times I have an idea. Maybe the 1/4" rule is to prevent overfilling. If you pump it full until it runs out and quickly put the plug in you can potentially overfill it. Not sure if thats a problem.

Buy the AAM cover that comes on the DRW, if you're concerned. They can be found for about half the price (got mine for $189) and actually keep the diff/fluid cooler. If you have a 2500 with the rear coils, you may have to fabricate a 3/4" spacer for the rear anti-sway bar to clear or grind off a small portion of the fin that touches the bar to make it work, but it's worth it IMO. Looks nice too.
