I find the statement "I never lie" as something of a yellow flag. That is almost certainly a lie. However this would hardly be the first story where elves didn't lie. It could be argued that someone who never lies is more dangerous then someone who does. Not lying and being honest are two different things as he could have masted the art of saying one thing while meaning other, leading people to misinterpret his meaning. Honestly I don't know how to read this guy.
He doesn't lie that's why he was reluctant to tell Viren his name because there was no way to go around such a straight forward question .I also don't think he is a bad elf I just think he is similar to beerus In the since that human and normal elf morals don't apply to him he cannot lie and they may have more rules that he simply can't break. He may have some kind of grand goal like other star touch elves but maybe his approach was different so they put him in the mirror.
@@jaross2000 I get the feeling someone else tabooed his name, which is why all the entries on him blurred when Verin tried to read them. He likely assumed Verin would look him up, find that, and get suspicious of him. There also might be things he literally can't tell him, but that's just a guess.
I don't think that Aaravos is actually a villain in the traditional sense is more of a pragmatist in that he's see's dark magic for what it is. Magic and another tool like all the others. He was sealed away for probably discovering/creating Dark Magic and then distributing it to the humans. They sealed him away because he might be needed to keep dark magic in check. I don't think he's evil but rather someone with a different world view. And instead of working with him the elves sealed him away. But there's that one line that set's off red flags "I'm not lying. I never Lie" that gives him an ominous effect that makes me feel unease about him. It also makes wonder, since this is a story about the Dragon Prince, What his relationship with Callum would be. A Human that can use magic seems to be unheard of and he might take interest. Either way he will(or should) cause a great impact to the world.
Well said. The mystery behind him really puts him in a different light and that line. He never lies, really puts him as a decieving person and I'm interested to see if he escapes and maybe finds Callum
@@RohaniBoy Honestly I really want him to (eventually) betray Viren in favor of Callum. I think they might be the only ones of their kinds that can do magic. Though that does leave the question about Ezran, does he also have magic? He can talk with animals(beasts) can he also do magic or is it just a connection that he developed?
@@Sparkle5fanboy a connection to animals is part of the earth arcanum... ezran is earth and callum is sky from the looks of it... i imagine eventually they will have someone on their team from all arcanums and use it to activate the key... if you look up the earth arcanum it perfectly describes ezran's personality and connection to animals... i believe ezran is connected to the earth arcanum but just doesn't know actual magic like with rayla she is connected to the moon arcanum and gain benefits like stealth... but she doesn't use magic either. also callum never once held the key up to ezran (because they are clearly trying to hide his gift)
@@RohaniBoy As i said to sorrow a connection to animals comes from the earth arcanum... that is 100% confirmed on the website and as stated callum never once held the key up to ezran he held it up to everyone but ezran.
“Those who fail tests of love are mere animals, and deserve to be motivated through fear.” I... think he may have been talking about the Dragons. Don’t ask me why... I just get this feeling. I find it very likely that Aravos’s villainy isn’t the sort you normally see in this kind of show. Everything about the antagonists so far has been non traditional. I think he may pose an even greater threat than his magic would suggest. More then mere power, I think he may have real reason for his actions...
Also, since they are the same creators from Avatar the story might end being a mix of aang and korra, a long series with a known villan, but in the end they are not wrong in their motives, just in their actions. It was very good the part where Calum uses dark magic to do something good, but he is like a villan in the eyes of the elf just by using it, even when it was the only way to free that dragon she still acted like it was worst than letting the dragon die.
Yeah, the villains seem more like something out of a Hayao Miyazaki flick, (excluding Muska, Lord Cobb, and Ct. Cagliostrio); their intentions are well-meaning, but how they carry it OUT... is less than ideal.
I think that catchphrase could be much more important. Maybe he loved a human woman(Elarion)..but because of the grudge betweens their races something bad happened..so Aaravos became obsessed to obtain equality between humankind and elves by using every means like to create and teach Dark magic to the humans to give them the ability to use magic..something they'd never possesed. Because of this the Dragons and the Elves imprisoned him into the mirror and cast a curse that make everyone unable to learn anything about his past. But that's not all. Aaravos looks like to be the only one capable of connect to all the Arcanum but also Callum create a connection out of nowhere...soo...what I think is that Aaravos and Elarion are Callum ancestors and that's also the reason Callum was the one who activated the power of the cube to recognize the connection of the others beings.
@@RikkiJVelez well going by the "I never lie" and the fact that he was narrating the intro where he says that humans discovered a seventh source at most he capitalized on it rather than discovered it
I feel like ur right. Notice how Aaravos saw that Viren had his staff THEN he decided to "help" him. Maybe the same thing happened to the human mage in the intro. Maybe having that staff enables Aaravos to control u. Idk lol
My theory is that Aaravos was the master of the first human mage (the one that we see in the prologue). Aaravos seems to recognise Virer's staff, maybe it was his creation and a gift to humans. I think that he was banished into the mirror because he created dark magic in the first place and the magic cube is the key to unlock the mirror
Yeah good theory. Aaravos does seem like a master type of character and that maybe he was the creator of Dark magic himself. Maybe the key will be used to free him
4:58 I believe Runaan thought Aaravos' FATE was worse then death, not Aaravos (how can an elf be a "something", a "what") The idea of spending eternity trapped inside of an object seems terrifying to him. I believe this makes sense in light of what happened to him and how he reacted to it. I think the writers of the show would appreciate the irony.
Aaravos is ungodly sexy. Just hearing his voice makes the hair on my neck stand up. But no. I don't think he's the main villain. I believe the true villains are the dragons. These egotistical monsters that rule over all the elves with an iron fist and fearing the humans.
That's actually a pretty unpopular opinion but saying it like that makes me question who the dragons really are. And also makes me question who Aaravos really is and what his plans are.
I can already summise what Aaravos wants. The war with the elves and humans are just a staging ground. Perhaps he's a hero in disguise. Perhaps he wants to free the elves from the control of the dragons. After all, why are the elves doing the dragon's bidding? If the dragons wanted revenge on Thunder, why can't they do it themselves? They most certainly seem strong enough.
Yeah true. They could, they have the power and the strength. But also listening to Rayla's story about the dragon guard it seems the elevs might be working with the dragons to protect the magical lands. Just my thoughts on it hopefully S3 will answer our questions about this
@@j2dragon109 I'm sure they can talk. Telepathically, physically or with Ezran's animal link. And there is some proof that the dragons rule over the elves. Like Rayla's parents, the Dragon Guards. I'm pretty sure that position was appointed by Thunder himself. He sure hell wasn't gonna let some other elf dictate who protects his only egg. But that's a weak evidence. However, it is known that dragons and elves are linked somehow. That;s why these long eared folks have a natural link to primal sources. Their horns are another example.
RohaniBoy exactly since runnan also stated that he found something worse than death but think about it the dragon king and queen wouldn’t keep something evil closest to them maybe he was the kings advisor and because he wanted him to be his advisor and since Viren has the mirror now aaravos May be a villain but I doubt it
At this point, I think he's not only a villain, but the "Final Boss" of the series or at least a huge antagonist. Might be morally grey and understandable, but still a villain much like Verin. He has a powerful presence about him, did the narration at the start and Ruuran said that the mirror was "worse then death." He reminds me of a mixture of Prometheus and Father from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Like Father, he's a powerful being trapped within an object, who is using another character to do his bidding. Like Prometheus, he taught the humans Dark Magic, despite the other elves protests and got punished for his actions.
I can see what you are saying. He definitely has that feel to him and he really does not seem like he will be a good guy so I am very interested to see how he interacts with the other characters
@@RohaniBoy Same here. One of my friends has a theory that he could be Callum's biological father, which is why he was able to unlock the cube and use magic when humans in that universe can't no matter how hard they tried like real life. Callum's father is a mystery and usually that means it's gonna be a plot twist about that. While I'm not sure if that's the case, I can kinda see where they're coming from and oh boy that would be one hell of a plot twist if does come true.
@@sorcerersapprentice no. I dont think he would be his biological father per say. Remember, when Callum is reading the letter from his stepdad, the king, it talks about his biological father passing away from sickness. Well, what if Aaravos is like his great+ grandfather (ancestor?) or something. Maybe Aaravos passed on dark magic to try and safe a human he loved, similar to what Claudia did for her brother. Or something similar....
@@dreamwritingincorporated5190 Well, Harrow could be parroting what he heard others like Verin say and be misinformed, because I doubt Harrow met the man. Sci Fi and Fantasy shows pulling out the whole "your father was the villain the whole time" card, despite saying the father is even dead from natural causes beforehand, isn't all that uncommon. So it's still possible. Like I mentioned before, it's my friend's theory more so then mine. I think it's more likely that Callum has an elf ancestor. But who knows at this point.
Here is my idea The mirror is less a prison And more a pickling jar Supposed to preserve him tell he is needed The books and ingredients he has help him continue learning and growing stronger BUT he is alone and going mad Even if he went in willingly to be a help to the future he now hates whoever asked him to go in in the first place Its been deemed unethical by the elves now though but they dont know how to release him, or rather the key has been lost That glow block is going to be the key and i DO think Calum is going to unlock all the magic abilities over the series and let Aarvos out But to what end im not sure But im leaning towards the mirror being not intended as a prison Its just too nice, all those books paper writing stuffs Its like a secluded study! Not a prison
A really fascinating question that if been pondering for a while. Excellent video as always, RohaniBoy The one thin that wasn’t really touched on was the Key of Aarovos, and what on earth it actually is. I have a guess, but that factors into my personal guess on (one of) Aarovos’s goal(s). Based on a few things he’s said, especially about not knowing his location, I have a feeling that he is trapped somewhere. Possibly exile, possibly imprisonment, we don’t know enough yet. Perhaps his goal in this is simply escape from wherever he is. After all we have a “key”, it could certainly unlock something. Perhaps Aarovos needs someone who can master all six primal sources to activate the cube properly? Food for thought. Btw I noticed him in those first shots of elves, but not in later ones. Gotta wonder what happened.
Yeah that key is interesting aye. It doesn't really show any evil hence I didn't mention it I'm this video but it deserves a whole separate discussion. All we know so far is that it flows near a creature with an arcanum. Did Aaravos create it? Was it given to him? Is it the key to getting untrapped from where he is? So many interesting question and we are right to be curious Thanks also for watching. Appreciate your thoughts and insight.😊
I have a feeling that the Key is some kind of artifact that was used to seal Aaravos into the mirror in the first place. After all, if the mirror is a prison then, surely it needs a key to be closed and opened with and there’s no better key for a magical prison than something that needs the six main magical sources of the world to power it. My guess is that since Aaravos’ speech worm is still hanging out with Viren, he’ll overhear info about Ezran returning and Azymondias a.k.a. The Dragon Prince still being alive and concocting a plan to release himself by maybe brainwashing Viren and going after the Key and Zym and forcing the other great dragons to use their primal power on the Key to reopen his mirror prison. We’ve already seen that Aaravos can transfer spells through Viren with the elf being the caster and Viren being the one who launches it. With this in mind, I don’t find it very doubtful that Aaravos could take over Viren’s mind especially since we don’t know if that little worm can do more than just be a mouthpiece for the mysterious elf. Plus, it’s stationary just outside of Viren’s ear and could easily just dig through his ear drum and burrow into his brain to do something sinister.
4:30 You mean the aarpod I have my doubts about Aaravos being strictly a villain, it would be kind of obvious. I feel like he's going to be more of a morally gray character, maybe neutral story-wise, but I'm not an expert in this. Also there was this interview with someone from the crew (I lost the link, unfortunately), who said about Aaravos and him being imprisoned in the mirror: "Yes, he is disliked. But disliked doesn't mean bad". I think he has a plan, but it's hard to say what it may be.
Yeah, but if even books and scrolls are literally blacklisting themselves whenever Aaravos' name is brought up, that's kinda suspicious. Also, why would Thunder and his queen house a mirror which serves as a window into whatever dimension he's in? Something about this guy seems... off.
@@RohaniBoy He hasn't technically led Viren to do anything. Viren has his goals, and he's already shown a willingness towards dark magic and unsavoury behaviour. He asked Soren to kill the Princes, and told Claudia to prioritize the egg over Soren already. Aaravos is just giving him the knowledge he wants. I agree on the morally gray theory. If Katolis sas in the midst of drought when Viren contacted Aaravos the information he got would have been much tamer since the knowledge he wanted would have been to produce rain, or otherwise hydrate the land for example.
I think he was the first to use dark magic, and the cube might have been a way to know wich magic is inside creatures that dont show their afinity, and use it to create the dark magic spells. I think Calum is going for the same path that he was, but Calum might end up using a 7th source. Aaravos might just be seeking a way out of the mirror and he is using the war to be needed.
In season 2 ep 6 in the letter the king wrote to callum he mentions the cube with the runes on it belongs to an arch mage called aaravos who's a master of all 6 primal sources and he calls the cube a key. So whats up with that? Could that be the key to his escape from the mirror?
That's what some people had been lead to believe. That Aaravos is trapped in the mirror for doing something bad and that the key, Callums cube is the key to getting him out of there.
I see it more as the key to mastering all 6 primal spurces of magic. It would be a little wierd to have the key to free aaravos be named aaravos' key. Really, it makes a littlw more sense imo is its the key that allowed him to master all 6 primal sources.
@@ameerikbal8160 you just gave me an Idea what if only those who reject dark magic can learn of Aaravos, star magic on the official website is know for its link to knowledge so if one who rejects dark magic reads the book they read it fine
I have a feeling Aravos is gonna be like Father from Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. An all powerful being who uses Machiavellian scheming to start wars (Ishval Civil war, Human Vs Elves) for their own gain.
I adore Aaravos. He's clearly playing with Viren. He's really smart, and clever. He is trapped in that place for some reason. He wants to get out, and Viren is his way to, so he's helping. I would like to see Aaravos not as a villain like Viren, but more like revenge kind??? He gives me these vibes XD He had a thing against dragons, he said "Thunder" is the reason he is locked up. I think it was him who showed humans dark magic. But not to be good. To start a conflict, be either for personal reasons or payback of some kind. The human dark mage who blinded Sol Regem said "it was one of the great ones who gave him that" . I also believe he knows that humans can learn magic, like Callum did. He knows is possible to learn a magic he wasn't born with. I really think Aaravos and Callum will end up having a connection?? Callum doesn't have Aaravos's Key for nothing. Idk honestly. He's a villain, but less "I'm evil because I believe I'll save humanity but I also want power" kinda like Viren, he tends more like "I have a problem with these people, I want revenge, is just fair, I lived long enough to don't care at all"
I just posted this elsewhere but I think it could add to the discussion here - People say that Runaan says what's in the mirror is worse than death - but doesn't say what's in the mirror is worse than death - he just says what you have discovered is something worse than death - for me that is being trapped somewhere - you don't know where - and having no escape. This ironically is the fate that awaits Runaan after he says this - he becomes trapped and is confused and frightened and deprived of communication with other beings while inside the shiny /mirror-surfaced coin. A potential parallel to what Aavaros is experiencing, although the latter has aesthetic surroundigns and access to exterior space, a library and other creature comforts. A possible theory is that only one person can be in the mirror and when you engage you may, willingly or not, swap places and so 'worse than death' for Viren is awaiting him if thats hould occur. But I'm not totally with my idea there as could be many other possibilities. However, I don't think for one minute Aaravos is aligned or genuinely sympathetic towards Viren - I think he is using him - he isn't lying to him and will give him or help him achieve what he desires BUT that which Viren desires may bring his (Viren's) downfall - I think Aaravos is not evil or if he is that would be for me rather boring and unimaginative as this is too 'obvious' and predictable a storyline. I think there is a bigger plan and he maybe seeks to unite elves and humans - not for his own gain - but because he hates arrogance - he hated the arrogance of the dragon king and its possibly him/his helpers that put Aaravos in the mirror. If Aaravos is just plain evil and manipulative that may seem fun and intreguing to a point but its just not very original imo given the type of standard villain/good character binary. Importantly he already crosses genders - he is non-binary there - all my family thought it was a female character along with numerous other fans - but it wasn't - this can't be a coincidence as other male elves don't look so feminine - I think he transcends such divisions and is hence the one to transcend the division between elves and humans with the help of the lawful/neutal/good characters and with the inadvertant help of others less inclined to promote positive outcomes. This trajectory may not be obvious and his intentions should -for a good story - remain unclear - but I would be disappointed if he seeks power when he doesn't need it or is just another power-tripping chaos-loving bad guy that gets fried at the end. Okay he is thus far being presented as a total sadistic ruthless villain - regarding info in latest episodes - hopefully there is more to this
even after watching season 3 i don’t think he’s the main villain. i believe he serves others so in bad hands, he is bad and in good hands, he is good. i looked up the name origin of aaravos and it said it meant “between light and dark. not good or bad” so it would make sense that he just reflects the feelings of whoever he is serving. i also hope he isn’t the main villain because i love his character so much, i don’t want to see him defeated at the end!!
It would be a nice twist if he was the good guy in the story, he was just very violently efficient. Giving humans magic fueled by magical creatures to put an end to something like non-magical genocide orchestrated by the dragon king or something
There was someone that translated the writings on aaravos before they got blurred away when viren was trying to research him. One description of him was in Danish which described that Aaravos was “a friend to all humans” and the other was in Arabic (if I remember correctly) which was a poem and described a not yet introduced character name Elarion. But it also described how Aaravos brought a gift which is implied to be dark magic according to the translations.
I´m a little late to the party, but I also don´t watch Netflix, so I still hope for a DVD set for the series. To the idea, star magic is about seeing the future or? So Aaravos could have seen quite the thing in the future. Like a genocide. When the humans were banished that was also considered, as far as I understand it. So the potential was there and maybe without dark magic, humans would have gotten under the wheels sooner or later, but with it they still suffered deportation, but lived. And in the end of season 3 we have an interesting situation. Elves and humans fought together against a dark magician and his horror army, so Viren became an example of why not to use dark magic...at the same time Callum offers an alternative. Humans can use magic like elves, so they won´t need dark magic and elves could change their 'lesser being' attitude. The fight against a common enemy and the Callum-Rayla relationship would also deliver a nice base for a future together for both species. So if someone wanted to end the hatred and the use of dark magic (by making humans understand rather than by the use of force) the season finale delivers quite the base for that. Granted as there´s a whole season coming I really doubt that this is it...yet it would explain why Aaravos seems to be the narrator of this story. Side theory, when he killed the sun elf queen he told her about the fate of her grandmother. Someone made the theory, that Aaravos turned her into a human. My idea, Aaravos did love a human woman, but she was killed by said grandmother and he made her a human in return, so her own people would cast her out with the other humans, to live as lesser being. The realization, that she banished her own grandmother maybe an explanation for the queens facial expression before her end. And quite the idea to teach someone a lesson about 'lesser beings'. Also she could have brought in something from the elves into the human species, without having any halfbloods. Callum might not be a descendant of Aaravos, but of elves Aaravos turned into humans and let them live and die as such, to later allow humans to use magic as well.
@@RohaniBoy its a character of the poem which appears in the book Viren tries to read (when he was looking for informations about Aaravos) before it got lost in dark smoke. written in Arabic. She apparently has great importance in Xadia's history.
@@RohaniBoy Yes, definitely look into it! Here are links to the translations for the Arabic text & Danish text. My biggest question is wether or not Veron trapped king Harrow’s soul in Pip’s body, think about it from a writer perspective, ‘Pip’ (the bird) could be used as a type of advisor when Ezran becomes king.
Aaravos is definitely a villain!! The last episode proved that! There could be something or someone more evil but homeboy is a villain! At first I thought it was just because it was the same voice actor as Koh the Face Stealer but that scene where he shows some of his abilities was savage!! I wonder if he had a child with a human and that's one of the reasons he's locked in that place. What if Callum is one of his descendants? Wild I know but I really like that possibility and I'm a sucker for a forbidden love story!!
Interesting. His voice and everything about him makes him seem villainous. People have theorised he does have a child with a human. So I hope SEASON 3 does enlighten us on these questions
RohaniBoy come on, Callum being one of his descendants would be so cool! Like maybe have Aaravos secretly train Callum in the other arcanums in his dreams, maybe trying to sow seeds of doubt in the elves, and use the cube to free. Oh yeah the cube- it’s called the Cube of Aaravos, it would make sense if it was passed down in the family whether it be from his mom’s side or his dad’s
K Smith I think everyone has a soft spot for forbidden romance and if that’s the case, I think it was for a much darker reason. Anyways, there was a reference to human girl named Elarion in one of the books (it’s in Arabic) and it seems to allude to the fact that they were lovers or at least very close
Aaravos is a master of the 6 primal sources yes? What if he taught the human mage dark magic? I mean, how possible is it that he's withholding information. Or, using Viren like a puppet? Viren is already a traitor. Attacking one of the kings sons, sending assassins to murder them, even faking the kings seal, sending more assassins to the other kingdoms and attacking killing the guards. My guess is if he isn't exiled by King Ezran, he'll be Aaravos' puppet until he's killed. Because the thing about villains is, they kill guys the minute their usefulness expires. But wait. Is Aaravos a neutral character? Or someone who serves whoever's on the other side of the mirror? Why was he put in the mirror to begin with? And could that cube be the key to his release, or the end of the world?
So many questions. I reckon maybe he was the one who discovered dark magic and I 100% reckon he is withholding information, just how much is unknown. I guess only time will tell
Some great points raised in this video! Something I've been thinking on (not fully fleshed out yet) are Aaravos' motives for his actions thus far in the series. On the Dragon Prince website, the Star Primal source is described as pretty mysterious, but involves "divination, cosmic vision, and seeing into the beyond." Aaravos may have seen something, either an upcoming calamity or threat, or something 'outside' the world of Xadia, that pushed him to (possibly) introduce humans to Dark Magic, or to try and provoke a war between the human kingdoms and Xadia. Much as Viren has committed morally questionable (if not outright evil) acts in the pursuit of what he believes is "doing the right thing" in the protection of humanity, Aaravos may be acting on a scale or understanding of something that no-one else understands. At least, that's my loose idea anyway! Enjoyed the video, keep up the good work!
Nice points! I definitely reckon he understands or knows something we and the others don't. What that thing is we may not know for a while and I hope SEASON enlightens us on some of the mystery behind Aaravos. Thanks for your comment! Love your videos as well. We should do a collab if you're up for it!
I think that the reason Aaravos is trapped in the Magical mirror is proof of his Evil intentions, being the all powerful arch mage that he is he mastered all 6 forms of the Arcanum magics but then I think he also learnt the forbidden Dark magic in secret but got found out by the other Elven races and the Dragons who rather than kill him decided to lock him up inside the Magical pocket Dimention that is within the mirror and so potentially dangerous was he that the Dragon King & Queen kept the mirror close to them so as to watch over him, but now that Viren has the mirror he's established contact with Aaravos who is now manipulating him to eventually releasing him from his mirror prison but not before gaining Virens trust by giving him what he wants...
Wow I never thought about it like that. The dragon king and queen will watch him as a guard. Not because the mirror is special to them but because they just guard it
For all we know, Aaravos was probably Thunder and his queen's trusted adviser who went behind their back and revealed Dark Magic to humans and wanted to kickstart the war between humans, the elves, and the dragons. As for why? Well, some men just wanna watch the world burn.
@@Godzillakingofkaiju1 well yeah once you got out of a prison created by your so called allies you would probably feel scorned and want to get back at them and send their world to hell in a hand basket
I think Aaravos could be either a Sauron-type villain or a God Emperor Leto II-type hero. He's either a dangerously powerful, malevolent entity who's been defeated in the past and is attempting to regain his status, or he's seen the secrets of the cosmos and the enormity of all possible futures (and frightened the hell out of the rest of society through doing so), and is trying to control the flow of events to secure a stable future, even if those events may be tyrannical or tragic in the present.
I see him as more of the first type of villain. He's seen been defeated once and now he's back in a way and so it's his chance to redeem and come back from the grave almost.
You are like the smartest person i know.Without you I wouldnt know at least 12% of what I know now of my favorite elf, Aarovos. Please upload a new video because season 3 is now out. From what iv'e seen, Aarovos is plotting something BIG. ______
This is a great video. But I think you missed something. In the letter that Callum reads from his dad it talks about how the cube used to belong to the Arch mage Aravos. And that it is a key to something.
Ah yes very true. It's such a mysterious object. I'm not sure if the key has any evil intent behind it. But it is very interesting and I am curious to see how it will be a key (no pun intended) part of the story.
"I never lie" I feel like hes the type of person to never really lie, just evade the real truth of things or speak in riddle like manners and confuse people,by letting them interpret it any way they want. Wich usually would cause chaos,i dont think hes a villain in the way we think he is,or rather, i dont know if making theorys and speculatibg about whether hes black or white this early in the series is a good way to go,we just havent seen enough of him in the series. But either way, great video
I feel aaravos is looking to trick viran so he can learning more about where he is and how he can get out. About so far he hasn’t lied but he hasn’t told any whole truths but he probably feels viran is a jerk for not doing the little thing to be able to talk to him and is being petty by getting him removed and having his insect thing find someone more easy to control than viran. Although I do admit he does seem to have bad guy vibes I’m personally hoping he’s just petty about the mirror prison thing going on for like a thousand years, I’d also bet the cube is a key part to freeing him but who knows he might survive the entire series and is telling you the story from beginning. And he’s hot... so I don’t want him to die or anything....
Oh yea I hope he doesn't die aye. But yeah, those theories you mentioned have been floating around a while and they are compelling. I hope S3 focuses on Aaravos some more and fleshes him out
I hope Callum can do more than the wind spell. The Storm primal stone had lightning in it, but I'm not sure if he could do the lightning spell when there is *no* lighting anywhere nearby. I also hope that Callum learns to use more primal sources That would be cool
Yeah hopefully he learns some new spells. I reckon he will have to I'm Xadia as everyone is going to be magical there. And that's what people have predicted. Maybe Callum will become master of more than one primal source
Guessing that the caterpillar Aaravos gave is connected to the star arcanium, Maybe the cube will react to bearin (forget how to spell his name) and maybe, just maybe, Callum, ezren, and rayla will think that bearin is somehow connected to the star arcanium alone. Maybe Callum will feel obligated to assist bearin with his current problem just to see if bearin is the next step to unlocking Aaravos's key. (The cube).
im seson three he some how brings him self to the real world or a split scond in lex aria and verin can see him AND at the very end epsond in seson one he spines his bug thing into a coccon
I don't actually think he's a villain at all what I think is that in front of him is the first person he has been able to talk to in however many years so he takes this chance to help him hoping that he will either be able to him him escape from the mirror world or because he's been alone for so long he's scared I know that last one is a long shot but whatever so yeah Virin for whatever reason hates the Elves and wants war so Avaros wants to help him get it but I think he will be critical in the next few seasons not as a bad guy but as Callum's Tutor we all know that he has learned to connect to the Sky Arcanum so I think for whatever reason Vrin will betray Avaros that or once he's escaped he will be in a better position to find out the truth and realise what he's done in helping Virin so to atone for his actions he will help Callum not just in learning more sky spells but maybe he will be the first human ever to connect naturally to all 6 Arcanum it might actually be revealed that he defended humans to the other elves about their Dark Magic and how it has potential to be bad and evil but it's not all bad and humans need it to be able to use magic so that's why he was trapped inside the mirror world there are so many aspects of this theory that I have yet to figure out but this is the general idea of what I think and why I am highly anticipating season 3 of The Dragon Prince and hoping that next season will have at least 12-13 episodes if not more.
I really hope we get more episodes this season. But I'm skeptical. But I do agree with your saying that Aaravos as Callums tutor will be amazing to see. But then that begs the question who could be the main villain he will face in the end?
@@RohaniBoy I'd really like to see the big bad main villain be someone we haven't met yet as we know from season one the elves and dragons believe the egg to be destroyed and even some humans but Varin's daughter was told that the dragon king was going to do something evil or something with it so I think it'd be cool if someone twisted and evil ignited this war and watched as the two sides tear each other apart had manipulated Varin into thinking the dragons were going to hurt the Dragon Prince so he had to save it and what if the person behind all this was actually the very first human mage who created Dark Magic Elves and other magical creatures hated him for using dark magic and the humans shunend him for getting them banished plus we've seen lots of stuff is possible with dark magic given that Varin looks like a demon at some points but after consuming a living creature he becomes less demonic what if the first dark mage found a way to live forever and Callum and he clash at the end pitting both their ideals against one another then again this is just a theory no one can ever truly know until it comes to fruition. But this is my hope anyway.
That's a great theory. F it's someone we haven't met yet that gives them a chance to really builds him/her up to be a true bad guy and that'll make the final battle that much better
I believe aaravos was the one who started the war in the first place and taught the humans dark magic in order to start the war and was imprisoned by the other elves before he could complete his goal... perhaps to use the war as a sort of catalyst for a powerful dark magic spell... if he was the inventor of dark magic it would explain alot and why he is so interested in this war happening. i also believe that "key" that callum has is part of his plan and was taken when he was trapped in the mirror... and then taken by the humans along with the mirror... perhaps to open some sorta gateway or door to the dark arcanum (of dark magic)... just a guess... since all of the primal elements have an arcanum shouldnt dark magic as well? perhaps that key leads to the dark arcanum's source and that is what he is after as magic is always stronger closest to the source.
ive pieced it together based on what we know so far: Elves felt smugly superior to magic-less humans, Aaravos took pity on them and discovered how to *extract* magic from creatures that contained it and use it in place of an arcana, AKA dark magic. He gifted it to humans to even the field because he spited the elves' pride, elarion being his prodigy, the dragons and elves found out and were mad as hell, sealed Aaravos away and exiled the humans. Now, aaravos wants revenge for being imprisoned and is *using* lord virgin to spark terror and sew chaos under the guise of serving him. Note the camera angles, in Aaravos' first appearances, viren is on a higher or equal incline to show he's pulling the strings, but later as he gradually relinquishes control to Aaravos, the elf is the one with a higher angle and viren is at a lower level
Others have probably brought this up before, but a fan translated the Danish text that Verin was reading. According to the text, Aaravos taught the humans Dark Magic. Much like the Prometheus, the elves punished him by trapping him in the mirror. Interviews with Aaron seem to back up that theory, since he said that the Prometheus myth influenced the creation of that character. Outside of that, I'm not sure at this point. (Someone translated the Arabic text, but it's rather cryptic and doesn't reveal much.)
I believe Aaravos was directly involved with the creation or teaching of dark magic, there was a text that was briefly shown that stated “while the elves look down on us, but aaravos sees our worth and treats us as equals” something along those lines, I believe that is why he was imprisoned and the mirror was then entrusted to the most powerful entity in xadia, thunder, also Viren’s staff was used by the first human mage so he could’ve received it from Aaravos, that could also be why Aaravos knows dark magic. I’m pretty sure the mirror is almost like a mirror dimension, he can’t escape or interact with the outside world, probably also why he said “it’s been so long since I’ve heard the sound of another voice” when he first spoke with Viren.
Yeah I've heard this before. People have been translating the texts and they say Aaravos created Dark magic and he is imprisoned for it. I reckon the Key that Callum holds is the key to his escaoe
Grimlock I can add something to that. The Arabic poem mentions a girl named Elarion (I don’t think it’s stated directly but it is heavily implied she was human) and how she and Aaravos were very close, possibly lovers, a relationship which would’ve been so taboo. What if the other elves killed her to punish Aaravos, and in retaliation he created dark magic with the human mage from the 1st episode (who could’ve been related or close to Elarion and Aaravos) both to protect and raise up his lover’s race and mostly to take vengeance against his own kind for taking the one person her cared about, and they locked him away in the mirror.. Maybe the archmage killed was the one who ordered Elarion’s death? Maybe Elarion and Aaravos had a child who became Callum’s ancestor and maybe Aaravos takes interest in his descendant and meets/trains him in his dreams? Who knows?
He's definitely got a sinister air about him. In addition to helping Viren escalate an already deadly war and giving him access to more magic than he already had, he also helped Viren slaughter a bunch of guards he would've eventually would've lost against anyway for the hell of it.
I think of it that way: Aaravos is trying to get a feeling for what Viren wants. Once he has that, he provides it in the direction he thinks Viren wants things to go. Then, when Viren trusts him and is merely his puppet, he convinces him to free him. Also, I think that Zym will be needed to free Aaravos. He gave humans dark magic, that was written in one of the scrolls Viren tried to read. He helped the elves fight the humans out, but they were angry with him and as a result they somehow got him into that mirror. Aaravos is super strong, so perhaps the Dragon King helped them and then kept the mirror to make sure Aaravos wasn't trying to escape. So now that the Dragon King is dead, Zym may be needed.
For some reason, I really see him as the high ranking elves who want to prove that humans are sinful by reflecting the darkness of their hearts with dark magic. (this seems to be the case in every show I watch that involves a human and elf conflict, in Yeloli we get Mandola and the elementals, in Mystic Greens 2 we get that Vine Mystic Green, and even in Flower Fairy we get Ultimate Pixie Amarantha) For some reason, I see Aaaravos among the lines of Ultimate Pixie Amarantha of being the one that created the curse to prove that humans were inferior and pretty much messed up every single character's lives (including that of her successors and disciples just to create a so-called "desirable future" and "keep the balance between darkness and light".) Plus in Flower Angel, it was revealed that the Ultimate Pixie was the voice Code of the Flowers and Aaravos happens to be the narrator of the Dragon Prince (so yeah, I think we're going to get another messed up narrator who screws everyone over. lol)
I have things to say. As yes Aaravos can do all 6 primal elements and even dark magic that maybe the cause of his evil. But,in that one episode where Callum used dark magic to save the red dragon and how he got very tired a went into this dream state.Callum found a version of himself using dark magic and saying it's his destiny,Callum refused.I think that no matter how much dark magic you use, there's still hope that you can stop.Maybe in the show the others may help him or that he does it himself.Or the other hand that Zim will get rid of him for good. This is just a small theory of what may happen in the future. For now,Aavaros seems like he is the villain but that may change.A damn cute villain that is. KILL ME
He might be a villan in the eyes of the dragons and elvens just because he uses dark magic, we saw how Rayla reacted when Calum liberated the dragon using dark magic. Even when she is his friend and was trying to save that dragon from being slaughter she show that she thinks using dark magic, even for good reasons, is villanous.
I think he helped the humans, and was unjustly sealed away. Didn't start of a villain in any form, simply tried to help those others turned away. And imprisoned for that, easily could have turned into a villain simply seeking to conquer Xadia for revenge.
"Those who fail tests of love are mere animals and deserve to be motivated by fear." It's possible that he believes he is doing the right things for the right reasons, but that is not an argument a good person with good intentions would make.
I'm honestly surprised you did the whole video without mentioning the key of Aaravos, the cube our main protagonists have been carrying since the hunting lodge.
I think Aaravos is clearly the 'Lucifer' of the 'Dragon Prince' universe. So yes, I believe he is the main villain. He obscures the truth and history about himself, yet claims he never lies. He claims to serve, but straight from the off we know who's going to be serving who. He literally whispers fear and paranoia into Virren's ear, and plays him right at the exact time that he feels most trapped. Lucifer was the Morning Star, the last star in the sky to be obscured by the day dawning, and Aaravos is a Star-touch Elf. His name is clearly even a semi-anagram of 'Avarice', meaning this guy is greedy (e.g Greed the Avaricious from FMA:B). What he wants, I don't know yet, but it is clear that he is more than willing to manipulate others to achieve his goals. And, thanks to other videos on UA-cam, it's plain that he's done this to humans before. Whether a different kingdom, culture or age, his influence through Dark Magic is clear to see in this universe's history. However, I also think he's based on Prometheus, the Greek Titan who stole fire from the Gods and gave it to Man. Please check out this excellent video that explores these themes deeper (and delves into his history with mankind): ua-cam.com/video/V_JJEnYvyas/v-deo.html What his endgame is, I can't yet surmise. But I can see he is manipulating both sides through this conflict. Looking forward to where this goes...
Nicely said. I'll definitely check out that video. You're right, he is Definitely plotting something but we just can't know at this point. Hopefully S3 will enlighten us on that
You should also remember that in the Arabic poem he was Elarion "Midnight star" sounds a lot like "Morning star". Do I wonder what their relationship was. Edit: I'm pretty sure Aaravos is named after Averroes, a middle eastern poet, philosopher, and astronomer, plays well with a Startouch Elf.
Aaravos could also be the sort of character that just wants to watch the world burn. no other goals. Star touched elves are said to live as long as a star, so he could be board and just want to watch the world burn. and the voice acting is just so beautiful.
Major Spoiler: Aaravos is Callum’s biological father and he is not the villain the viewers portrayed him to be. He was trapped in the mirror because he fell in love with the human (Callum’s mother). Back in the days, Xadia was a place where humans and elves living together in harmony until came the greed of one person who discovered dark magic and wanted all the power in the world, caused Xadia to crumble. Hence the beginning of the elves war against humans. And Aaravos taking side of the humans due to his love for one significant person (Callum’s mother). Otherwise, why would the King or the Queen had the mirror in the first place? And that would also explain why Callum has the glowing cube. It’s all connected to Aaravos.
Interesting theory. But there's really nothing to prove it. People have translated some text that Viren read saying that Aaravos is trapped in the mirror for inventing dark magic. So I am curious if your theory is also true.
A simple human being just cannot do clean magic, only dark magic. And Callum was able to do magic without the help of a primal stone or casting a dark spell. So, we shall see!
@@yangvillar109 It's my understanding form media posts by the creators that humans can do primal magic without a primal stone. However it takes years of apprenticeship under a wizard (likely an elf) before they can us it. Callum is an odd case as he did it much faster then we were lead to believe possible.
@Narutonarutonaruto85 I agree being Callum an odd case when it comes to performing magic without proper training from a mentor or unless he was already born with that talent. As the story unfolds, Callum will soon to master all six primal source of magic as he already mastered one, and will be the only human to do so. And as for Aaravos, he’s the only elfin that can do all six primal source and the dark magic as well. Callum can also do dark magic (which he rather not use). The similarities and skills between them when it comes to performing magic is very uncanny, don’t you think?
what I like about this series is that there is no real villain, only shades of gray. the villains have a point in seeing their way as being correct, and their point of view is valid. Even Aaravos has a tragic back story whether deserved or not, of being trapped alone in this mirror world for a long time. In fact the mirror is probably a portal into a world devoid of time so someone there will live forever, which is a curse of exile in solitude never ending...worst than death.
I agree I have to say a lot of the mythology stories/ fairytales I saw a kid has the whole theme of "you have to kill this one person and rewrite fate so everything can be fixed" which I used to find very epic as a kid but now find too cliched as a young adult. One of the main reasons of why I like shows such as the Dragon Prince is how they have the gray morality that deals with issues of society in a sort of realistic standpoint despite it being a fantasy story.
If you haven't seen Avatar The last Airbender, cartoon I suggest you watch this series too from most of the same writers, a kids show, but with a lot of dark overtones and morality issues. thrown in. Same writers also did Legend of Korra, which is also good, and deals with political issues arising from the first series, The Last Airbender.
@@cooltrainsinmontreal4883 Yes, I have seen the Last Airbender as a kid when it aired on Bionix Saturdays. Recently I rewatched a bit of it and I agree it was really well written and part of my nostalgia.
There was a translation of the texts about him just before they dissolved, speaking of him as the one who bestowed the knowledge of dark magic upon man, and certainly making him _sound_ benevolent in doing so. Perhaps he saw the inequality between the humans and elves, and sought to "level the playing field", as it were. Even so, he's clearly turning Viren down a darker path. Generally if your name has to be magically blotted from history, you're probably not a good person. ""Aaravos. Finally he told me his name. I had never heard a name like his, but I also had never imagined an elf like him. He is stronger, older and wiser than any other magical being in Xadia. Nonetheless he is a friend for all humans. Where others look down on us, calls us inferior, he sees great potential in us. When we accept the offerings/gifts Aaravos has promised us, they will pay for their conceitedness/condescension, they will be forced to see us as equals. When we are equals, we will take our destiny/fate in our own hands and build our future. I see it before me (in my dreams).""
Me: *remembers all the times in season 3 (which to be fair wasn't out yet at the time of uploading) where he actively steered Viren towards invading Xadia and attempting to conquer it* Me: hmmm i wonder
I like the slow pace at which they've been introducing and developing this character. I'd like it if this slow burn continued and Aaravos doesn't make any significant, overt progress on his own agenda before S4
Great video as always . Now I want to tell some information of Aravous now I got it from a UA-cam channel named Cartoon universe really recommend seeing it it's amazing now they dug deeper and found out the translation of the books that viren was seeing trying to find who was Aravous and it seems That dark magic was there before you think it was and it was given by Aravous and given to a girl. Aravous 's Kind is known help humans and serve them but they are also known to betray You have to see that video
maybe aravos is slowly taking control of viron and will use his physical form to escape and stop the war as a twist hero. or maybe he was a advisor to the dragon king
If the mirror is worth then death and he’s in it then he’s probably evil or Rhee implying the mirror imprisones you forever never aging so it’s like a imprisonment for life and you can never escape worse then death either way he definitely has intentions that aren’t that good
I don't think Aaravos is a villain, I am more inclined to think he could be more of some kind of servant. "How may I serve you... And I will help you" and asks many questions about what Viren wants and tells Viren how to get them
Personal theory, Aaravos just doesn't dislike dark magic. Literally every other elf and magical creature hates and condemns it immediately. But we've seen that dark magic is extremely versatile compared to the other types of magic, and seems to be able to do pretty much anything. Aaravos might just be more 'progressive' and see the potential it, but knows that the elves will never agree, so he sides with the humans instead, since they're more 'practical' than other species. If that's the case, then he is just what he says he is, a helper and a servant. He serves and supports human mages, because he wants to see the humans thrive and develop, rather than just stay the same like the elves. He's not malicious or evil, and doesn't have any ulterior motives or master plans.
Someone acutally translated the pages from the books that Viren tried to read and it says that Aaravos gave the humans some sort off power I asume dark magic. So I believe he has an ulterior motive to have taught humans dark magic. Side note before trying to comunicate with Viren he saw the scepter of the dark mage and made a happy look.
Wait...I just realized, the shadow elves are the ashes from the Moon shadow elves from season 1... I was kinda hoping that we could actually see them again; alive. On that note, Runnan is still alive at least, maybe💁♀️
I think aravos is stuck in the moon realm between life and death. He's can't get out because the moonhenge was destroyed. Mirrors remind me of moon magic and illusions. At least, that's my theory. His room looks similar to the rooms we saw in lujannes flashback
Salut ! Tu sais parler et lire le Français ? 🇫🇷 Car moi aussi, il y a un peu longtemps, j’ai fait cinq théories sur Le Prince des Dragons. Bisous 😘 continue comme e
One thing you forgot to mention is that Aaravos didn't want Viren finding out what was recorded about him in the library. I think he had worked with humans in the past to try and expand beyond what a star touch elf would normally be capable of and dark magic was a result.
Aaravos is Daddy, that's what he is.
Agreed 😄
Right?
This is true.
XD everyone said that.
Rikki Velez his voice can melt chocolate
I find the statement "I never lie" as something of a yellow flag. That is almost certainly a lie. However this would hardly be the first story where elves didn't lie. It could be argued that someone who never lies is more dangerous then someone who does. Not lying and being honest are two different things as he could have masted the art of saying one thing while meaning other, leading people to misinterpret his meaning. Honestly I don't know how to read this guy.
Very true. Not lying is a mystery behind it and I don't think he is telling us the entire truth. We'll just have to wait and see how he develops in S3
Reminds me of xigbar from kingdom hearts...
I think he never lies, he just doesn't tell the whole truth.
“Little worm thing” ? Heh no ...that’s viren’s little bug friend !
Yes that's unknown aye. We just suddenly learned Ezran has a connection to animals in S1. So I am interested in how and where that stems from
@@Sparkle5fanboy a connection to animals is part of the earth arcanum... ezran is earth and callum is sky from the looks of it... i imagine eventually they will have someone on their team from all arcanums and use it to activate the key...
if you look up the earth arcanum it perfectly describes ezran's personality and connection to animals... i believe ezran is connected to the earth arcanum but just doesn't know actual magic like with rayla she is connected to the moon arcanum and gain benefits like stealth... but she doesn't use magic either.
also callum never once held the key up to ezran (because they are clearly trying to hide his gift)
@@RohaniBoy As i said to sorrow a connection to animals comes from the earth arcanum... that is 100% confirmed on the website and as stated callum never once held the key up to ezran he held it up to everyone but ezran.
“Those who fail tests of love are mere animals, and deserve to be motivated through fear.”
I... think he may have been talking about the Dragons.
Yeah he does have that way about him and his mystery makes him seem all that more villainous
He might be someone who is willing to do anything for what he thinks is right (kinda the same as Viren) and because of that he is seen as a villan.
Maybe Aaravos was controlling the human mage in the season one intro the same way he was helping Viron battle in the last episode.
Yeah that's actually a good point maybe he was. That would make sense aye.
That or he was the one who taught that mage the secret to Dark Magic.
@@RikkiJVelez well going by the "I never lie" and the fact that he was narrating the intro where he says that humans discovered a seventh source at most he capitalized on it rather than discovered it
@@diegoruiz9328
Or he used it in a way far more deviant than anyone else.
Maybe the key will be used to free him
I can see that!
caiomalpelo the cube is called the Key of Aaravos. I’m actually loving the theory that Callum and Ezran are descendants of Aaravos through their mom

Thought so, too!
@@CaligoEstAetas I'm glad. It's not just me, then.
agreed
Just my thoughts on it hopefully S3 will answer our questions about this
There is little evidence that dragons rule the elves, we don’t even know if they can talk.
I don’t think he is a villain but more of a servant he does good things in good hands he does bad things in bad hands
Ah very good point. Because he does say "How may I serve you?" So maybe you are right. He does whatever he can for those he meets
RohaniBoy exactly since runnan also stated that he found something worse than death but think about it the dragon king and queen wouldn’t keep something evil closest to them maybe he was the kings advisor and because he wanted him to be his advisor and since Viren has the mirror now aaravos May be a villain but I doubt it
Yeah true that. The king probably wouldn't keep something evil with him, but saying that there is a lot we don't know about the Dragon king and queen.
RohaniBoy I hope we can find out more about this character
Me too. Hopefully S3 expands on these a points and characters that S2 didn't fully flesh out.
Aaravos might be a villain but he could still step on me and I’d thank him.
😍 I'd love that.
yep
@@sorcerersapprentice
no.
@@sorcerersapprentice that is a good point. But I doubt Saria would be the type to fabricate and miss communication information.
Here is my idea
The mirror is less a prison
And more a pickling jar
Supposed to preserve him tell he is needed
The books and ingredients he has help him continue learning and growing stronger BUT he is alone and going mad
Even if he went in willingly to be a help to the future he now hates whoever asked him to go in in the first place
Its been deemed unethical by the elves now though but they dont know how to release him, or rather the key has been lost
That glow block is going to be the key and i DO think Calum is going to unlock all the magic abilities over the series and let Aarvos out
But to what end im not sure
But im leaning towards the mirror being not intended as a prison
Its just too nice, all those books paper writing stuffs
Its like a secluded study! Not a prison
That's an interesting theory and I really hope we get some answers on what the mirror really is and where Aaravos actually is
A really fascinating question that if been pondering for a while. Excellent video as always, RohaniBoy
The one thin that wasn’t really touched on was the Key of Aarovos, and what on earth it actually is.
So many interesting question and we are right to be curious
Thanks also for watching.
Aaravos is a villian most likely. But god damn he almost made me gay.
Hahahaha totally agree 😏😉
almost?
4:30 You mean the aarpod
I have my doubts about Aaravos being strictly a villain, it would be kind of obvious.
Ah I see what you are saying. Yeah as if now he is neutral and but he is leading Viren to some evil tasks. This makes us wonder what is true plans are
Yeah, but if even books and scrolls are literally blacklisting themselves whenever Aaravos' name is brought up, that's kinda suspicious.
Yeah true that. Viren has his own way and is set on that. But will go to extremes to get it
The way Aaravos's eyes raised at "where are you?" before his "I don't know" makes me think he actually can't lie, even if he wants to.
Yeah I can see Aaravos using the war for that reason. And the key Callum holds is 100% going be important
@@RohaniBoy
I think the cube has smth that can only be opened by a being who has all 6 elements.
I can totally see Callum becoming the next Aaravos, or at least having a showdown between the two archmages of all primal sources.
@@moisesbernal1749 yeah now that I think about it, it is more likely to be the key for mastering the primal scources
how did king knows this while viren don't
@@ameerikbal8160 you just gave me an Idea what if only those who reject dark magic can learn of Aaravos, star magic on the official website is know for its link to knowledge so if one who rejects dark magic reads the book they read it fine
I have a feeling Aravos is gonna be like Father from Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. An all powerful being who uses Machiavellian scheming to start wars (Ishval Civil war, Human Vs Elves) for their own gain.
So far his mystery makes it seem that way aye. I am curious to see if he gets out of the mirror and what he does with Viren.
Or Sauron.
He's a villain, but less "I'm evil because I believe I'll save humanity but I also want power" kinda like Viren, he tends more like "I have a problem with these people, I want revenge, is just fair, I lived long enough to don't care at all"
I just posted this elsewhere but I think it could add to the discussion here -
People say that Runaan
says what's in the mirror is worse than death - but doesn't say what's in the
mirror is worse than death - he just
says what you have discovered is something worse than death - for me
that is being trapped somewhere - you don't know where - and having no
escape. This ironically is the fate that awaits Runaan after he says
this - he becomes trapped and is confused and frightened and deprived of
communication with other beings while inside the shiny /mirror-surfaced
coin. A potential parallel to what Aavaros is experiencing, although
the latter has aesthetic surroundigns and access to exterior space, a
library and other creature comforts. A possible theory is that only one
person can be in the mirror and when you engage you may, willingly or
not, swap places and so 'worse than death' for Viren is awaiting him if
thats hould occur. But I'm not
totally with my idea there as could be many other possibilities. However,
I don't think for one minute Aaravos
is aligned or genuinely sympathetic towards Viren - I think he is using
him - he isn't lying to him and will give him or help him achieve what
he desires BUT that which Viren desires may bring his (Viren's) downfall - I think
Aaravos is not evil or if he is that would be for me rather boring and
unimaginative as this is too 'obvious' and predictable a storyline. I
think there is a bigger plan and he maybe seeks to unite elves and
humans - not for his own gain - but because he hates arrogance - he
hated the arrogance of the dragon king and its possibly him/his helpers
that put Aaravos in the mirror. If Aaravos is just plain evil and
manipulative that may seem fun and intreguing to a point but its just
not very original imo given the type of standard villain/good character
binary. Importantly he already crosses genders - he is non-binary there -
all my family thought it was a female character along with numerous
other fans - but it wasn't - this can't be a coincidence as other male
elves don't look so feminine - I think he transcends such divisions and
is hence the one to transcend the division between elves and humans with
the help of the lawful/neutal/good characters and with the inadvertant
help of others less inclined to promote positive outcomes. This
trajectory may not be obvious and his intentions should -for a good
story - remain unclear - but I would be disappointed if he seeks power
when he doesn't need it or is just another power-tripping chaos-loving
bad guy that gets fried at the end. Okay he is thus far being presented as
a total sadistic ruthless villain - regarding info in latest episodes - hopefully there is more to this
even after watching season 3 i don’t think he’s the main villain. i believe he serves others so in bad hands, he is bad and in good hands, he is good. i looked up the name origin of aaravos and it said it meant “between light and dark. not good or bad” so it would make sense that he just reflects the feelings of whoever he is serving. i also hope he isn’t the main villain because i love his character so much, i don’t want to see him defeated at the end!!
Wow. A friend and Dark magic. The plot thickens. This might mean he is on Virens side and actually trying to help him ?
He is our little bug pal. 🐛💫🔮
After Season 3? Yes.
have you heard of Elarion ?
Nah I haven't. What's that?
Plz answer I beg thee

My biggest question is wether or not Veron trapped king Harrow’s soul in Pip’s body, think about it from a writer perspective, ‘Pip’ (the bird) could be used as a type of advisor when Ezran becomes king.
Yea that could be true. But I don't think he would be doing such evil things with Harrow as his advisor
1:47 Viren is blushing!
Hahaha
I agree. Hopefully season 3 of The Dragon Prince will answer some of those questions.
I really can't wait for it!
Neither can I.
Theory Pop suddenly this character reminds me so much of Darkstalker from Wings of Fire
Jesus guys like goshy it seems to obviously that he wants to manipulate siren to gain his trust so he can get free for the mirror
Exactly. We'll just see how he does it in S3 and beyond
Aww I don't want him to be a villain...He's too good looking to be one😭 (and I don't want him to die either🥺)
When viron goes to the library there are 2 texts about aaravos that is readable before turning black. One in Danish and one in Arabic

This is a great video. But I think you missed something. In the letter that Callum reads from his dad it talks about how the cube used to belong to the Arch mage Aravos. And that it is a key to something.
Oh I just saw another comment on it.
Ah yes very true. It's such a mysterious object. I'm not sure if the key has any evil intent behind it. But it is very interesting and I am curious to see how it will be a key (no pun intended) part of the story.
He sees Viren as his "vessel" like what he said at the sun elf place "you have let my vessel come into your main source of power"
At 3:20 it is actually confirmed in King Harrow's letter that Aaravos is a master of all 6 magic. But yes, he also performs magic ensuring this point.
Exactly. Hopefully we get to see more KF this magic use in S3
Well we know he hates dragons, and I’m seeing some pretty good examples as to why. Mostly to do with Zym’s dad and Sol Regem.
But either way,great video
Thank you! And I agree. We need to see more of him before we can truly decide his intentions
@@RohaniBoy no problem, and yes,i hope to see allot more of him in season 3

I also hope that Callum learns to use more primal sources
That would be cool
(The cube).
I'm not sure Viren is the next step in unlocking the key. But maybe Aaravos will use him to get the key somehow.
im seson three he some how brings him self to the real world or a split scond in lex aria and verin can see him AND at the very end epsond in seson one he spines his bug thing into a coccon
He's the baby daddy of the fandom's imaginary kids that's what he is. Lmfao
Hahaha perfectly said
I don't actually think he's a villain at all what I think is that in front of him is the first person he has been able to talk to in however many years so he takes this chance to help him hoping that he will either be able to him him escape from the mirror world or because he's been alone for so long he's scared I know that last one is a long shot but whatever so yeah Virin for whatever reason hates the Elves and wants war so Avaros wants to help him get it but I think he will be critical in the next few seasons not as a bad guy but as Callum's Tutor we all know that he has learned to connect to the Sky Arcanum so I think for whatever reason Vrin will betray Avaros that or once he's escaped he will be in a better position to find out the truth and realise what he's done in helping Virin so to atone for his actions he will help Callum not just in learning more sky spells but maybe he will be the first human ever to connect naturally to all 6 Arcanum it might actually be revealed that he defended humans to the other elves about their Dark Magic and how it has potential to be bad and evil but it's not all bad and humans need it to be able to use magic so that's why he was trapped inside the mirror world there are so many aspects of this theory that I have yet to figure out but this is the general idea of what I think and why I am highly anticipating season 3 of The Dragon Prince and hoping that next season will have at least 12-13 episodes if not more.
I really hope we get more episodes this season. But I'm skeptical. But I do agree with your saying that Aaravos as Callums tutor will be amazing to see. But then that begs the question who could be the main villain he will face in the end?
@@RohaniBoy I'd really like to see the big bad main villain be someone we haven't met yet as we know from season one the elves and dragons believe the egg to be destroyed and even some humans but Varin's daughter was told that the dragon king was going to do something evil or something with it so I think it'd be cool if someone twisted and evil ignited this war and watched as the two sides tear each other apart had manipulated Varin into thinking the dragons were going to hurt the Dragon Prince so he had to save it and what if the person behind all this was actually the very first human mage who created Dark Magic
Elves and other magical creatures hated him for using dark magic and the humans shunend him for getting them banished plus we've seen lots of stuff is possible with dark magic given that Varin looks like a demon at some points but after consuming a living creature he becomes less demonic what if the first dark mage found a way to live forever and Callum and he clash at the end pitting both their ideals against one another then again this is just a theory no one can ever truly know until it comes to fruition.
Yeah very true. People have speculated he is the creator/discoverer of dark magic. I hope we get some insight into this for S3
ive pieced it together based on what we know so far:
Elves felt smugly superior to magic-less humans, Aaravos took pity on them and discovered how to *extract* magic from creatures that contained it and use it in place of an arcana, AKA dark magic.
“He’s disliked, that’s not the same as being bad”
Whatever helps you sleep at night Aaron
Mike but it’s not the same
Others have probably brought this up before, but a fan translated the Danish text that Verin was reading.
Yeah I heard some stuff like that, you actually just cleared a lot of that up and it will be interesting to see how he progresses in the next season.
@@RohaniBoy No problem. I'm interested to see how he progresses in the future seasons, too.
Me too. He's so interesting and so is just everything in this universe. I can't wait for S3
@@RohaniBoy Super excited for the next season. Hopefully it comes out soon.
sorcerers apprentice the Arabic text is a poem so obviously it would be more cryptic. From what I can gather, Aaravos possibly had a human lover
Who else thought Aarovos female when we first saw him (I'm sure I misspelled his name)
Haha yeah. He looks a little feminine aye haha
Who knows?
3:12 I am like 99% certain that's Aaravos in the title sequence.
He's definitely got a sinister air about him. In addition to helping Viren escalate an already deadly war and giving him access to more magic than he already had, he also helped Viren slaughter a bunch of guards he would've eventually would've lost against anyway for the hell of it.
i was thinking when you said, he is the only startouch elf
then i remembered only season 2 was out at the time
I think of it that way:
Aaravos is trying to get a feeling for what Viren wants.
(this seems to be the case in every show I watch that involves a human and elf conflict, in Yeloli we get Mandola and the elementals, in Mystic Greens 2 we get that Vine Mystic Green, and even in Flower Fairy we get Ultimate Pixie Amarantha)
For some reason, I see Aaaravos among the lines of Ultimate Pixie Amarantha of being the one that created the curse to prove that humans were inferior and pretty much messed up every single character's lives (including that of her successors and disciples just to create a so-called "desirable future" and "keep the balance between darkness and light".)
Plus in Flower Angel, it was revealed that the Ultimate Pixie was the voice Code of the Flowers and Aaravos happens to be the narrator of the Dragon Prince (so yeah, I think we're going to get another messed up narrator who screws everyone over. lol)
Nice comment! Hopefully in S3 we see more of him and if that's what he's really trying to do
he's a villain, the question is if he's the final one
He's one of neutral chaotic
KILL ME
Hahah yes he is very cute 😄 and mysterious 🤔🤔. I hope that we learn more about his dark magic origins and how it affects other when they use it
@@RohaniBoy We know now that it was created by a human mage,t akes basically the primal magic from everything, and it has consequences
Very bad consequences we've seen
He might be a villan in the eyes of the dragons and elvens just because he uses dark magic, we saw how Rayla reacted when Calum liberated the dragon using dark magic. Even when she is his friend and was trying to save that dragon from being slaughter she show that she thinks using dark magic, even for good reasons, is villanous.
@@alenasenie6928 nice.Maybe that's why he's possible siding with the humans
Can you give me more information I am watching dragon prince
The right choices sometimes require ruthless vigilance.
I think he helped the humans, and was unjustly sealed away. Didn't start of a villain in any form, simply tried to help those others turned away. And imprisoned for that, easily could have turned into a villain simply seeking to conquer Xadia for revenge.
"Those who fail tests of love are mere animals and deserve to be motivated by fear."
It's possible that he believes he is doing the right things for the right reasons, but that is not an argument a good person with good intentions would make.
Yeah it could be his mind is clouded. As most villains minds are.
I'm honestly surprised you did the whole video without mentioning the key of Aaravos, the cube our main protagonists have been carrying since the hunting lodge.
I made a whole separate video in that if you want to check it out. I thought it was too important to just mention in this one.
Please check out this excellent video that explores these themes deeper (and delves into his history with mankind): ua-cam.com/video/V_JJEnYvyas/v-deo.html
What his endgame is, I can't yet surmise. But I can see he is manipulating both sides through this conflict. Looking forward to where this goes...
Nicely said. I'll definitely check out that video. You're right, he is Definitely plotting something but we just can't know at this point. Hopefully S3 will enlighten us on that
Thanks @@RohaniBoy! Hope you enjoy.
Was Runaan talking about the mirror or about the Aaravos?
Cus like. You know. He was transformed into a penny. xD
Aaravos could also be the sort of character that just wants to watch the world burn. no other goals. Star touched elves are said to live as long as a star, so he could be board and just want to watch the world burn. and the voice acting is just so beautiful.
Agreed. There could be no motive behind his actions and he's just watching the chaos ensure
Yes based on his actions in season 3
All I know is that I feel the same way about him as I did Book 1 Zuko - you're not sure if he's truly bad but you love him anyway
Yeah I guess S3 will answer that question. Can't wait for it!
A terrifying voice and maybe trap in the mirror could be the ultimate villain in the dragon prince.
good job
what I like about this series is that there is no real villain, only shades of gray. the villains have a point in seeing their way as being correct, and their point of view is valid. Even Aaravos has a tragic back story whether deserved or not, of being trapped alone in this mirror world for a long time. In fact the mirror is probably a portal into a world devoid of time so someone there will live forever, which is a curse of exile in solitude never ending...worst than death.
Exactly. The mystery of the true villain and the true goal elides the viewers keeping us engaged. It's very nice
@@cooltrainsinmontreal4883
Yes, I have seen the Last Airbender as a kid when it aired on Bionix Saturdays. Recently I rewatched a bit of it and I agree it was really well written and part of my nostalgia.
I wouldn’t say he’s a villain I believe he is neutral in his matters only wishing to escape the mirror by any means
That would make sense. Maybe his nature is not that if good hence he is willing to kill to escape.
Interesting 🤔. Seems Aaravos has a long history with humans that I hope they delve into in S3
He is really hot, that's what he is
Me: *remembers all the times in season 3 (which to be fair wasn't out yet at the time of uploading) where he actively steered Viren towards invading Xadia and attempting to conquer it*
Me: hmmm i wonder
Hahahaha
I like the slow pace at which they've been introducing and developing this character. I'd like it if this slow burn continued and Aaravos doesn't make any significant, overt progress on his own agenda before S4
Yeah. The slow progress makes him more mysterious and I do like that
Great video as always . Now I want to tell some information of Aravous now
I got it from a UA-cam channel named
Cartoon universe really recommend seeing it it's amazing now they dug deeper and found out the translation of the books that viren was seeing trying to find who was Aravous and it seems
That dark magic was there before you think it was and it was given by Aravous and given to a girl. Aravous 's
Kind is known help humans and serve them but they are also known to betray
You have to see that video
I'll give it a watch! Maybe he will help the humans in the later seasons 🤔🤔
4:27 You could call it Worm-Bluetooth, or maybe his familiar ^.^
Haha true.
maybe aravos is slowly taking control of viron and will use his physical form to escape and stop the war as a twist hero.
or maybe he was a advisor to the dragon king
I think him being a twist kind if hero is more likely a kind of deciever. I really want to know more about him
his voice is to sexy to not be evil :P
Hahaha. 😄. I guess we'll find out if he truly is the villain in Season 3
If the mirror is worth then death and he’s in it then he’s probably evil or Rhee implying the mirror imprisones you forever never aging so it’s like a imprisonment for life and you can never escape worse then death either way he definitely has intentions that aren’t that good
I reckon he was probably referring to what is in the mirror. Because referring to it as a prison seems quite different aye. But hey, I might be wrong.
I don't think Aaravos is a villain, I am more inclined to think he could be more of some kind of servant. "How may I serve you... And I will help you" and asks many questions about what Viren wants and tells Viren how to get them
Yeah we get that vibe from him aye. His mystery still eludes us tho, and I wonder what he will do with Viren in S3
Hyeon Draws you mean more traditional genies/be careful what you wish for characters?
Dragon’s Touch “perhaps...”
He may want revenge from one who traped him
Someone acutally translated the pages from the books that Viren
tried to read and it says that Aaravos gave the humans some sort off power I asume dark magic. So I believe he has an ulterior motive to have taught humans dark magic. Side note before trying to comunicate with Viren he saw the scepter of the dark mage and made a happy look.
I hope they expand on this in the third season
I hope they expand on this in the third season
Wait...I just realized, the shadow elves are the ashes from the Moon shadow elves from season 1... I was kinda hoping that we could actually see them again; alive. On that note, Runnan is still alive at least, maybe💁♀️
I reckon he's alive. But in the coin forever.
Hi. No sorry :(( I don’t know much French. I’d love to hear some of your theories though!
Thanks for supporting the channel :)) 😍
One thing you forgot to mention is that Aaravos didn't want Viren finding out what was recorded about him in the library.
I think he had worked with humans in the past to try and expand beyond what a star touch elf would normally be capable of and dark magic was a result.
