I make my own iron oxide (rust) by putting about 3 or 4 rolls of 0000 steel wool in a quart jar and fill up with white vinegar and set it in the window for a couple of months. When the mixture is mostly dissolved I pour it out into a flat pan or dish and wait for a couple of weeks for it to completely dry. Then I use a single edge razor blade and pulverize the mixture into a fine powder and store it in little tins. When you get ready to use it, use it just like a weathering powder. It looks like rust, 'cause it IS real iron oxide. You could mix it with alcohol and a little water soluble glycerin or mix with some lacquer thinner and use it like paint. It has a great texture. I use a top coat of Dull Coat to seal it all up. Cheers from eastern TN

Brilliant......Struggling with a Matilda tank exhaust at the mo ....after 4 hours still doesnt look realistic enough...but I haven't tried pigments yet....Thanks for the vid
Thanks for your content. Very informative. I’m a new artist who makes wooden flags, and started adding small diorama scenes to my work. Your tips encourage me to create better pieces. Thanks bruh. 😎👍🏻

This is such a great guide, thank you. It's amazing how hard it is to find a guide like this where the video starts with the unpainted section, so many start with "I've already done X and Y" and not show what those other steps involve or say we need specific paint sets or don't say/show what paints they've used.
Thank you for watching i really appreciate it, I am very happy I was able to help as I push towards constant improving and creating helpful content like this. Thank you! I have a video on my list on one way I make bullet wholes if you want to check out how I did it. Will be making an update video on that soon 😎
Hi, great inspiration as i wrote in the follow-up video. Question: your base plate had already a lot of texture before you start applying the paint. How did you make that? Or was it already like that ween it came out of the kit?
After 18+ years i better! 😆 but seriously in that time frame I've done a lot of experiments to find ways to make it easier. Especially for someone like me who grew up poor with very little resources. The great thing about it is anyone can do it just follow along and you can as well. I have saved and cut out all the headaches for you 😉
