You're rapidly proving to be one the best audio reviewers on the internet. To wit, you've specifically delineated the imaging performance and imaging differences between the two speakers. Even your response measurements are above what others do, as you show the FR at 3 different SPL's. I'm eagerly anticipating your comparison to the KEF R3 Meta, which are at the top of my list for purchase.
That is so nice, thank you so much for the positive feedback and support. I was feeling a bit off the day I recorded this video and was worried people would pick up on it.
On your recommendation, I purchased the DB3's. I am still auditioning them. So far, I'm impressed. They sound quite musical while retaining a few elements of studio monitor precision. Their only weakness has been sound staging, and the bass output just seems to be slightly enhanced. I haven't auditioned KEF's A Concerto's. What I can say is that I have listened to a fair amount of speakers over the years. These include a few of KEF's iterations. From my little experiences with them, I would say that dollar for dollar, the KEF's are distinguishable. One gets a sound brand. And, for what KEF charges for any of their speakers, one finds a bargain. The difference? The Elacs deliver a very good musical performance. KEF? Get the right ones and you are in for an experience. One that takes you beyond music. If I had the money, I would spring for the KEF, but I don't. So, it's the ELAC's. Thankfully, they hold my attention in a good way. One last note. Elacs are really sensitive to their inputs. One can pretty much configure their sound by having the right combination of cable wires, amplifier, and digital sound compression software.
Showcases the difference between a 1300 pair that meets expectations vs a 450 pair that exceeds expectations. Speakers are getting so good across that a majority of the difference between price categories is just the visual design & quality of the cabinet.
The weight difference is in the extra driver in the KEF - I would say the ELAC is better built at a lower price point judging by the weight of the ELAC and dimensions compared to the KEF 🧐
Love from India! I'm planning to upgrade my JBL stage A130 so was checking the Debut 3.0 DB63/Polk ES20/R100(though its not in my budget) going to pair with Denon PMA600-NE Could you please help me to select the speaker. And if possible share a budget music streamer. Many thanks & keep the good work go on.
I would go with the Elacs over the polk every day. Also a budget music streaming setup that sounds great is a WiiM Mini plugged into an SMSL SU-1 DAC. As a bonus, you can run the WiiM and SU-1 off of a portable battery bank for power with absolutely no noise and get an extremely clean and clear signal out of it.
Hi , great interesting video, so the kefs is a bigger enclosure so get more bass, I have a similar issue with my old B&W dm602s3 compared with my Elac ubr62 and my B&W 606s2 anniversary, I use a energy 8s sub with the elacs, the other speaker with better bass is the moniter audio silver100 7g, but elacs had good reviews only I bought open box £499 abs currently £649, the silver 100 now £799 in the Uk. What put me off a bit that the he silver 100 has plastic speaker spider cage. The new db62 at is price point extremely good price abd very good audio response I had hope that new kef would be veneer at that price. Interesting that my old B&w is actually veneer. The reason I want to change my speakers as I have a small listening area and old B&w are really large about 1/3 bigger over the elacs a 1nd overpowering. I use Rotel a11 tribute and has 2 sets of speakers outputs regards mark
The Elac sounds muffled a lot. Specially in Song 2 and last one it was crazy noticeable. Rest of the songs it is there too but dint stand out much as 2nd one and last one. Oh and even though it dint come through a lot in the recordings but even here Elac seemed to be flat 2D while KEF seems to push to be 3D in nature. It is trying to create that depth of field. I think having such wide dispersion pattern not helping a lot but still doing better job than Elac.
@@TruthTube1111 Just compare 2nd and last tracks go back to back. Instead of listening full tracks compare small bursts it will be clearly noticeable. Specially on those 2 tracks it is a lot noticeable.
The most dazzling attribute for me is imaging performance. Speakers disappearing, sound stage depth, width, and instrument placement precision. I have heard a lot of speakers. The vague nature or shall I say fuzzy placement of instruments from the Elacs... How would you say they compare to SS-CS5's or low budget JBL bookies ? I have some JBL 570's and 590's and have been considering the next jump up. JBL studio 5 series continue to dazzle me.
The imaging if ,I remember right, of even the new JBL Stage 250s was better than with the Elacs, but that is not enough to make them worth buying. The shouty mids and overall sub par frequency response is too much of a deal breaker with those, but the Studio 690 is a lot better.
@@AV-Obsessed Thanks for the info. I am not a purist so I can address tonality with EQ but there hasn't been a dial adjustment invented yet that can effect imaging performance. I already have 590's and 570's so my next thing should probably be some kind of Kef for imaging or what I think may be the end gamer for me... Source Point 888
hi, have you considered putting in sound treatment / 244 bass traps ? I think it would help the sound a lot as well .. ( I have 10 panels and it helped my room ) all the best :)
I adjust the volume as well when I switch the speaker I am listening to, raising the volume 2 db when it's the Concertos and then dropping it by 2 when it's the Debuts, keeping it equal.
Wharfedale Super Denton vs KEF concerto Meta wouldn´t that be a good one? It's the one I am thinking about...although that Blue Indigo of the R3 Meta...pfffff soooo good looking (but I won't do it). The Super Denton wins on the finish for sure (Concerto has a cheap finish). But what about the sound comparison?
I’m strongly considering the ELAC DF63 towers to replace my Polk 265-RT in-walls in my budget 5.2.4 home theater, but I noticed the Q750 is on sale for $449 right now which is $100 less than DF63! I can’t afford a whole KEF setup but I could do two towers. What would you recommend?
To my ears through laptop speakers. The Elacs sound better more pleasing. The Kefs sound more bright and harsh. Now this is probably down to how I'm listening. I suspect more expensive speakers tend to come across as worse over youtube via laptops. Than a more simplistic pair of speakers do. I have noticed this on other review channels. Maybe speakers with better instrument separation and staging struggle more to come across as they would in the flesh.
That is too broad of a question, a low cost AVR will not sound as good as a mid or upper tier integrated, but a high level AVR like my Marantz will sound better than a lower of mid tier integrated.
can u suggest if going for home theather, among this , which is better (1) elac debut 3 (2) KEF Q meta line (3) emotiva (4) studio. Having 2 front channels as full tower and bookshelf for the rest. which has better dyanmic swing and submersive sound?
I think the KEF Q Series Meta would probably be best for that but also most expensive. If the budget allows go for the KEF's but if not you could get a whole system from Elac for less than half the price and it will still sound very dynamic and immersive.
@@AV-Obsessed do u think using musical speaker like "Wharfedale's linton" suitable for movie use? i think the most important for me is the dynamic swing and the sudden explosive effect from movie. i just like the look of the heritage look in my living room...

I am replacing my Edifier 1280b with a CA amp, the Elac DB63 and a SVS sub. Can’t wait !
That's going to be a big upgrade!
Kef is such an attractive speaker.
I've subscribed to your channel. You really deserve thousands og subs, real fast. I love your take on it. Keep up. Greetings from Norway.😁👍

Interesting comparison. Both speakers are stunning the entry-level hifi world.
1000$ difference in Canada .. the KEF are not entry level here

The Concertos more than meet expectations. They are setting a new standard at their price point.

Good job. One suggestion: Please tag your graphs with the amount of smooting used. Thanks
Will do, I've been using 1/6 smoothing.

Yeah, if you have any headphones or earbuds, try that. The difference will be clearer.
Strange to me that the treble measures quite similarly, but only the kefs subjectively sound kind of harsh.
I think that may be something to do with the recording or youtube compression, there is no harshness with them in person.
What you are hearing is detail, not harshness. But they do sound best with warmer amps.
For music listening, do u think using intergrated amp is better than av amp?? Or no different.

Can't hear any different between these speakers
Yeah, it is hard to hear but there is a difference. It is easier if you are watching while wearing good headphones.

Which speaker's working now?
