this 13 minute video taught me pretty much taught me EVERYTHING i needed to know to start modeling. Easy to follow and straight to the point while explaining each function to the newbie watching. earned a sub :D
I found this with a search. This video was so helpful it turned blender into the same thing as like an Avorion or Empyrion ship editor almost. Amazing break down.
Great work! What version of blender are you using? I have 2.79 but I can't make it show the vertical icons group on the left side which is very helpful.
Ok, so I actually DO have a question. I’ve been drawing some spaceship ideas for quite some time now and I’ve always wanted to make one of my designs in blender. However, the design features writing on the ship. Not any normal kind of writing though, I redesigned the entire alphabet. I want to be able to put some text on my spaceships. If you could help me out that would be awesome. Great video btw.
You can try saving your custom alphabet as a PNG or jpeg image if you have photoshop or a program similar to Photoshop. After that, you can use that image as a texture in Blender. Go to the texture panel. While in Edit Mode, add a new texture, and assign the faces you want for the letters. To actually have this new texture display your JPEG, go to the Shading tab in Blender (top of screen.) You should see a “Principled BSDF”texture already assigned to the new texture. Press Shift + A -> Image Texture. Click the “+” to add an image-> Your custom JPEG. Assign the image texture to the Base Color section of the Principled BSDF by clicking and dragging a line from the Image texture over to the Base Color of the Principled BSDF texture. You should see your custom alphabet texture display on the faces you assigned to it. If they look distorted or out of proportion - go into edit Mode, select the faces and press U -> “Smart UV Project.” This should fix distortions/scaling issues. Sorry for the long description. But anyways, hope all of this helps. If you have questions or get stuck in the process, let me know.
This is like the perfect Blender Video, it's teaching things that you just learn after watching like a 20 Hour Video Series. I for myself didn't know how to bring references into the Model and how to model after a drawing. Thanks! Oh, and it's also the thing why i wanted to start with blender, so added bonus point. You sir earned your self the sub and a like
This video actually is incredible
Most other tutorials weren't very helpful

I believe I am using Blender 3.0 for this video. To open the sidebar, try pressing “t.”

what are you doing at the time of 4:30 and 4:32 ? Can you explain how you managed to do that ?
I meant in particular how you managed to Angle those surfaces
@legatusjonasjakob9777
I'm pretty sure he just selected the other face and made it shrink in or smth, so it caused the angle to form
