I cannot thank you enough for all of this information. My husband and I just bought an Apex Nano, and sadly the dealership didn’t go over any of this with us. We live in Alberta, Canada, and it seems like it’s winter 9 months out of the year… So learning how to winterize and De-winterize is huge for us. Keep these videos coming… Us newbies thoroughly enjoy them!!
Your RV videos are fantastic and informative...I love your humor and silliness, I have been so frustrated with other videos that I just gave up watching them.....so thank you
No thank you! Just got done reading a few comments of people that do not like our style and want more straight forward videos. I love doing them with humor and as long as I still have people like you commenting, liking and subscribing to the videos we are going to continue to try and make you all laugh while giving you great content. Again thank you for your comment you made my morning. Now more redbull -JR
Thank you for this video. Very easy to understand and step-by-step process that I now feel I can do by myself. Just got my first travel trailer, so all this is completely new to me!
Thanks so much JR. Your videos are sooo helpul! I save them and have them handy when I go camping. You aleviate a lot of stress as I feel I can do things myself now. You explain things so clearly I wish the dealers would do the same.
I have a 193bhs, every summer I have to re teach myself order of operations to dewinterize and sanitize the fresh water tank and lines even though we use jugs of spring water for drinking. Think I dump the low points and drain from the shower, then sanitize the fresh water and run some through the fixtures until pink is gone, then drain tank since I mostly do full hookups.
Big thank you!! This is a simple clear demonstration to help us first time around. I appreciate the comment regarding flushing the system BEFORE opening the by-pass to the hot water tank. My truck mechanic was formerly an RV mechanic, but its hard to cover all the bases with him on the phone, He's a busy guy! I like to have the steps written down in my 3-ring camper binder. I think the dealers should include a sheet on this process and not count on us taking the camper into the dealership. We are in NH our dealership is in VT!
Good stuff bro! Don’t forget to do some more videos about your parts and service store. We got your 30 amp RV starter kit last year, and it was our best initial purchase for our RV.
Very informative! Only problem... if I dewinterized mine when it was only a bit over freezing, it'd be a GUARANTEE that it would snow that night or something stupid. ;)
Newbie question. I got the tank full. Antifreeze out. Water coming out of hot water tap. Turn the pump on ... I have dual gas and electric. Still no hot water. What did I miss please 🙏
I’m crawling around looking for that panel for the hot water and pump valves…nope. Then I lift the bottom bunk mattress and see 2 screws holding down a small piece of wood under it. Thanks…I thought I was nuts. Great video (2022 Apex Nano 208BHS)
Thanks Jr. for all your help. You’ve saved me from a major headache on dewinterizing my Forest River rv. I always seem to go to you videos for the answers. I’ve shared the information with my friends. Good job buddy and good luck hitting your 100k goal. 👍👍
I have a question about our 2022 apex nano off grid- why does our battery drain so fast? And isn’t the solar panel supposed to charge the battery? Thanks! Gwen PS. We think your videos are the best! :)
Good question! I am going to be doing a video on what solar panels do and what to expect. Long story short that is just a little trickle charge going into your camper -JR
Thank you SO much. Got a Nano 213 last summer and there is NOTHING out there about it. This is perfect, although my access panel will be in a different location (I suspect under the passenger side, rear settee bench).
Super video . Exactly what we needed to know. For all of the antifreeze that you flush out of the sinks and bathroom, I assume it goes into the gray water tank and then you dump it once you hookup at the RV park your going to?
@@KeystoneRVCenter your videos have helped so much. Do you have one on post trip cleaning procedures? What do I do with the tanks after they are dumped? What’s the best way to store the tanks?
In your equally awesome Jay Flight winterization video, you use the water pump to draw in the antifreeze. Should the water pump be flushed of antifreeze when de- winterizing?
This is gonna sound dumb, but I’m fairly new at all this, the anode rod. I think mine is completely gone but I’ve heard some water heaters don’t use them. Isn’t the anode rod connected to that plastic plug you remove to drain the water heater? I’m certain I had a rod when I bout my camper used in 2019 but I’m embarrassed to say that I can’t remember.
Thanks for video it saved me from having someone else do it for me . I have a 2021 Apex Nano 208bhs. My question and comment is my valves work opposite from the ones in the video. Also I noticed some anti freeze in what looks like a filter near the water pump that didn’t flush out when I flushed the system as instructed in the video. Is that normal and will that flush into water heater when I turn on the water pump?
RV antifreeze is not normal automotive antifreeze. The stuff we use is a biodegradable safe to drink product or you could not put it in fresh water drinking lines. -JR
Follow-up: You are lucky your Batman hat didn't fall into the toilet. Seriously: If I understood you, we NEVER winterize the fresh water holding tank. But we DO winterize the hot water holding tank. Good to know.
I was wondering when you was going to do another video. Beginning to think you fell off the earth somewhere. Batman hat but no cape. lol I was wondering what that extra hose was for with the cap on it. I need to relook on our 265RBSS to see where the bypass valve (for the water heater) is because I didn't see it when I took the panel off.
Im still here still kicking. Cape is at the house. I wear the cape some but we just been busy. 265 Apex Hot water heater bypass should be under the fridge
A question for when you put up your wintering video. After draining the hot water tank, do you leave the anod rod out or put it back in for the winter?
Thanks so much for this video ! We just bought this camper and just followed your video to de-winterize, worked great ! Once the hot water tank has water in it and you turn it on, do you need to always have water to it ex. the pump or be plugged on the city water ? Or will it gravity feed and always have water in it anyways ?? Thanks again. Steve, Ab, Canada.
What about tankless/on-demand hot water heaters. I don't see a bypass valve so are there any special precautions? (This is a 2021 Keystone Outback 330RL).
Everything I find on the internet is about new RVs mine is a 2008 with no inside controls only an outside access to my hot water tank it's got a electric on and off switch and I know it can run on gas too but it just quit working was working fine till I unhooked my propane tanks refilled them and now it won't start can you help me please
pretty sure if you mention Demolition Ranch in the comments, you will get 3.8 million views. Of course that channel is completely unrelated. They did do a video where they ran over an RV with a tank. I have no idea, lets try it!
So the truth is I personally never do. I de winterize with city water pressure The small amount of antifreeze in the water pump is not an issue. So after I de winterizer the next time I go dry camping I will fill my water tank up with fresh water. Turn the pump on like normal and spit out what little anti freeze I have in there. It holds almost no noticeable liquid in the pump and I just let it sit in it until I need it. If you really want to flush it you can drop the hose in a water jug at any point and do the same thing. -JR
Good video, thanks. But LOL, it is NOT a "hot water heater". You are not heating hot water to make steam. It is a cold water heater, or as it's normally called, a water heater.
Domestically, water is traditionally heated in vessels known as water heaters, kettles, cauldrons, pots, or coppers. These metal vessels that heat a batch of water do not produce a continual supply of heated water at a preset temperature. Rarely, hot water occurs naturally, usually from natural hot springs. The temperature varies based on the consumption rate, becoming cooler as flow increases. Appliances that provide a continual supply of hot water are called water heaters, hot water heaters, hot water tanks, boilers, heat exchangers, geysers, or calorifiers. These names depend on region, and whether they heat potable or non-potable water, are in domestic or industrial use, and their energy source.
The antifreeze used in when winterizing is non toxic. RV antifreeze just needs to be flushed out. Some people complain about the taste But I do not drink the water from the camper so I do not have that issue. Just run a ton of water through it if you notice it when cooking or bushing your teeth but for me once all the pink is gone its good to go -JR
So with this process, at no point do you need to put water in the fresh water tank from the other inlet? Not the city water? Also, there is another low point drain under my trailer. Just 1 hose. What does that drain ?
No I do not. I know some people do but I do not. They say it is to "clear the anti freeze from the water pump. If that is a concern of yours you can use a jug of water and treat the pump like we do during the winterizing step to draw fresh water in -JR
