The eShop has now officially been shut down. While it should remain possible to download updates or re-download things you own, it is no longer possible to purchase new content. Goodnight eShop.
@@higgyjiggy2222 I wish I mentioned the exact time too. I didn't think about the exact time of the closure when I made this video, only the day. I didn't bother looking into the exact time until a few days ago. I put out a community post a day or two ago to try and remind people of the exact time but obviously that only reached a very small number of people. I'm sorry you missed out
@@IRLAsh yes I frogot the actual limite the 3ds could hold and bought an upgraded sd card because it said I was out of space but turns out it had just said if I don’t have enough it can’t download app I was supposed to press ok. Regardless I plan on buying a few more things before it closes. Some backgrounds and maybe a few games but most of the games I’ve been buying from my local game store because I wanted physical copies and sutch
If Nintendo was consumer friendly they would have kept us by buying digital software by credit card and the final week a massive clearance sale and all DLC content would be free. The 3DS had a long life.
@@gigagogagagio does it though? It would take pennies to run if they actually used a good singular storefront But I feel they adapted their store for every single console, which does make it harder to maintain than just letting it run If it wasn't profitable to do this they absolutely wouldn't do this They do have people that do the math behind this Remember the console has been released in 2011 and died in 2020 They managed to keep it alive for quite a while Though I wish they had some plans to archive the 3ds eshop exclusive games for the future
Another note: If you want Ash Greninja, you must transfer it to original Sun/Moon, not Ultra Sun/Moon. If you want it in Ultra, you have to put it into the bank and then transfer it into Ultra.
Fun fact: When your 3ds is modded there is no way for nintendo to tell if I game was installed legitimately or with a mod. Like its impossible to tell. You can go online with them safely just fine.
@@stewartisme4635 I think it doesn't really matter that much, considering, playing online games with others on the 3ds will eventually get deleted eventually altogether as well. Just like the OG DS and the Wii.
to anyone reading this just know that every single software listed in this video is, and will always be attainable just by easily modding your system lol
@@lompass379 no, the most reliable method does not use a certain game anymore. The 3ds hacks guide no longer recommends that method. It now just uses bannerbomb and seedminer
Many companies do this. Old gen consoles eventually get sold less, less games are released on the old gen console and the new console is used more. It's always been this way.
@@Diogo85 The huge difference though is that older games are vastly more available even on that newer hardware, except on Nintendo hardware. Look at Xbox and it's backwards compatibility project. Nintendo does absolutely nothing to make their older games available on newer systems beyond the bare minimum emulation systems that come built in. And even then it's only a handful of very specific systems they emulate.
This makes no sense to me. Let's drive everybody to buying digital copies (because physical ones cost more to produce) and then we shut down the digital store 6 years after the latest compatible console is realeased (New 2DS XL)! It's like asking your customers to mod their devices and download illegal copies..
I mean I understand what you’re getting at and it does suck, but it’s hard to expect Nintendo or frankly any company to support these services forever. Soon, we’ll be on to the switch’s successor, the 3ds is really old now.
@@jimmybob5541 you really cant be defending nintendo when it costs basically nothing for them to keep it up and running. Yes the 3DS is old, but the 2DSXL isnt. Nobody is expecting any online service to last forever, but to kill a service that a good amount of people are still using (the consumers that made you as filthy rich as you are now) is nothing but a dick move
@@jimmybob5541 Of course, I don’t expect the digital stores to be open forever. However we’re going towards a digital future and if future consoles are going to play digital copies only we need to have a system so that people can still buy used games 6, 10 or 20 years after the console is obsolete. I still buy games for my Gameboy Advance for example.
@@jimmybob5541 good point, but the 3ds is notorious for having many 3DS games in relation to the compatibility of DS games. As much as I liked the functionality of the dual screens, in my opinion, the switch has better graphics, but is a downgrade because it doesn't have some games that I like enjoying that the 3DS have.
@@jimmybob5541 I honestly feel like I wasn't surprised. Nintendo is really one of those companies that is just completely anti consumer. I mean, If microsoft and sony can keep their cool old stuff up. Why can't nintendo? Because nintendo knows it will be less work on themselves. I think it has less to do with the eshops not making enough money and all that, and more to do with just not wanting to put in the work to keep the shops open. I saw this coming to. I kind of wish we had never given nintendo any money whatsoever for digital shit or DLC of any kind. What is the point if all that money was wasted and now, I can no longer access it. I am calling it right now, the switch will be interesting, because the sub fee for that stuff is completely digital. And nintendo will remove it all at a moments notice some day. It is just a matter of when. At least with the stuff I purchased on the Wii U is there physically. I don't think the sub fee package, which includes games like mario 64 and majora's mask, I don't think that content is stored on the console. Maybe I am wrong. But I feel if the average person saw how anti consumer nintendo was going to get with their DLC and eshop services down the road, no one would have purchased that shit in the first place. I am not against digital stuff I guess. But I hate when that stuff gets deleted. I probably won't download or buy digital stuff from this company again after this. What is the point when it could all be deleted some day.
This is the future of gaming, guys. Digital stores just close and many games just disappear for good, never to be seen or heard of again. It's really sad to think about.
Then just mod your system, I know how most people dislike modding but what choice do we have? Digital-only games would be lost to time if it wasn't for Modders.
Ehh I checked those 3ds only games and they all suck. Most of them (besides Minecraft) are charged for $2 or less. One was even got 8 cents. If you really wanted to you could buy all of them.
Honestly, we deserve a true successor to the 3DS. One that’s compatible with all DS and 3DS games would be preferable. They should also make you able to digitally download the entire 3DS library plus some DS games as well. -(Plus I want to play Sinnoh remakes on something with 2 screens.)-
Right in the feels…. The end of an era. I haven’t played much on my 3DS since i got tired of playing smash bros, But man…. I still remember getting a DS lite on Christmas 2006. I spent ALL of my money on games for that thing as a kid. Technology has advanced beyond the old “portable games” thing from yesteryear. Now, kids take their phones and nintendo switches with them. Kids these days will never feel what it was like to sit in the back seat of a car, with crappy headphones plugged into your gameboy, trying to see the screen as the streetlights only light up your screen every few seconds. What a time to be alive, it was indeed.
@Δionysis if the game was right, I’d totally pay for a mobile game…. They just aren’t typically worth anything, and most that are are free to play with in game purchases up the ass
I wanna share my childhood memories too! I remember getting the DS for easter, when I was 6 or 7 at the time. It was so cool because you can basically touch play it back then! I was gifted with accessories like a protective cover, a cleaning cloth, extra touch pens (they ether broke, or got lost, luckily I gotten extras), and screen covers. I remember playing with Nintendogs when my family and I took a trip up north to play in the real snow, and not shaved ice. I remember being at a restaurant and one stranger came up because she thought it was a mini laptop. I didn't get offended by that but was joyful that I wasn't the only one who thought of it as a mini laptop
@Δionysis I wanted to get a smartphone for games on the go (i never forgotten my phone, but I did forgotten my DS), then alot of em were ether boring, required internet, or too many ads. I want my flip phone back, I don't want this addition anymore!
@@ms.pirate I remember back in the day, I was just attracted to the nintendo DS website and this really SOOTHING music it had......then I bought the DS and the first game on it was Mario Kart followed by Advanced wars !
You didn't have a light accessory as a kid? I had original Gameboy Color and got. Wormlight attached to the Link Cable port. Still wasn't good, but better than nothing till Advanced SP fixed everything. 😊
They do but it's not very often .it's usually some sort of deal promoted by developers .just don't expect Zelda or pokemon or fire emblems to ever go on sale ...
they still don’t put games on sale that often, and when they do I honestly don’t think they give enough of a deal honestly. The price of these games should just drop in general.
Nintendo: "Please don't pirate our games." Also Nintendo: Edit: Guys, I have a confession to make. I didn't even watch the video. I literally just saw the title, and clicked on the video just so I can say this.
@@robotwrench Yeah I think a lot of people joke about it but some people are serious. The only fair complaint I see is that it's too soon to close, but this has nothing to do with pirating People just try to make excuses to pirate games so that they don't feel guilty, but I have yet to hear an actually solid argument that isn't "If Nintendo doesn't want me to pirate, why don't they make every single one of they're thousands of games available on the newest console and never close the old eshops 🤓" Also it's not fair to people who bought the games, but that isn't really relevant if you're talking about morally right or wrong.
@@Spilzu I feel like the average person who is pirating the games was going to do so regardless of whether the games were going to be made available forever or not. But I mean, now, we can't even pay nintendo even if we wanted to. So yah, alot of people are going to turn to pirating now even though they might not have had intentions of doing so before the shut down. I think people need to start a movement, similar to operation moonfall for majora's mask 3D or some shit. Because, I hate this decision of deleting the eshops. Nintendo is basically saying to me and everyone else that they don't want us paying for their properties on the eshop anymore. Which is so anti consumer. Heck, maybe a crowdfund campaign to tell nintendo, like hey, there is a market for it. Look at all these people who will download and pay for eshop services until they are dead. It is just so frustrating. Funnily enough, microsoft and sony made the same announcements, and then, they decided to keep that content up like any normal company would. Like I said, most pirates were going to pirate shit anyways because they didn't want to pay for it in the first place. But I see both sides of the argument. I can completely understand why the folks who are pirating games now simply because it doesn't exist anymore. That doesn't make it right though. People shouldn't be pirating things period. But I don't think nintendo should be deleting the eshops either. There are so many people who are willing to hand this company actual cash for this stuff, and they are denying their abilities to do so. I guess nintendo doesn't want eshop money from those people. Makes sense to me. Sarcastic of course. Like it doesn't make any sense whatsoever. I think if the eshops were truly meritless, and had no value whatsoever, and it wasn't making them enough money to keep them open, then why was there such a huge backlash against the decision? Clearly, there are still boatloads of folks who actually want to purchase this shit from nintendo. I think it is more along the lines of forgetting the past. It will definitely be easier on nintendo, that is for sure. Not having to pay tech jockeys to keep the eshops running and all those headaches going on anymore. But it is clearly anti-consumer, and nothing more. They don't want to have to put up the work to keep this stuff open. Because, it still makes them money. They just don't want to keep it relevant. People also forget that they could potentially add all this stuff to the switch eventually to. I will probably download all that I can, because the Nintendo switch online sub fee service is a complete joke to me. It is very similar to netflix. Like I don't think any of those games really physically exist on the console itself. And nintendo could just decide to take it away from you, data and all, some day without a moments notice. And I just refuse to give in to that power. Least all the eshop games are physically on my console once I download them, and I never have to pay a fee again. And decisions like this are why digital online shit will always suck in my op. It feels bad for anyone who is trying to get this stuff. Especially for the future generations in particular. It is a completionists worst nightmare. I can just see it now. Some 3 year old now is like 13 in 10 years. Sees a 3ds and smash bros for 3ds, but decides not to buy it because half of it's content no longer exists. People are just way to complacent with the digital age. Like I called this years ago, and I hate being right. I told myself that these stupid eshops would be gone some day. I mean, I would just rather of never had digital shops for anyone. Eshops would be fine if they never existed. I mean, the people who are ok with things randomly being deleted, or just randomly changing to something stupid. You can continue doing digital stuff. I will always keep physical stuff in mind. I am almost done buying the DLC as well. But man, it sucks for the people who missed out, that is for sure.
@@NudeAlchemist No? I even said a valid reason to get mad is that they should keep the eShop up longer. However, they can't keep it up forever... none of the big console shops do that. Sure they *save* barely any money by closing it, but they *get* money by closing it in the long run. Gaining zero money when you could be gaining more money is a loss for most businesses (evil but usually true). Not cool, but very few companies *don't* do this. There are many reasons for closing the eShop from a business perspective. That's why it's dumb to get mad and say it's a good reason to pirate games. Sure, they should probably keep it up longer, but that's absolutely no excuse to pirate games, which was my original point. The length of a shop being open has nothing to do with pirating. If that was the case, what decides how short is short enough to pirate? Like I said, I have yet to see an argument that says pirating isn't wrong
@@qunt100 Yes! You make so many good points. I think Nintendo is probably making the wrong move by closing them so soon, even from an unbiased perspective. They're reputation is already going down a ton, and I think they could leave it open for at least another year or until a new console releases. I hate to think about the DLC that will be lost, even if a physical version is used. And in all honesty, Nintendo can afford to keep the eshops open for as long as they want, I mean very few people are *ignoring* new releases because of old games.
For anyone looking at this comment after the closure: If you are sad that the Eshop is closed, remember that you can still mod it. You don't need to if you are nolstalgic and don't want to lose your photos from your 3DS, however it is pretty much recomended now. Best part is that you still can play online (for mabey 1 or 2 years, as Nintendo is probebly planning on shutting it down too). If you look at this before the closure: You can buy the games, tho it's practiclly a waste of money, as yoi have like a month left before the Eshop closes. If you want to buy or redownload content or just want to listen to the music, go for it.
Modding a system sounds illegal Which it probably is, which I don't feel right doing. I can use emulators all the time, but modding a system? No way bro
The end of an era. As phones dominate gaming on the go, and Nintendo moved to the switch, we knew it was coming. But the days of modern handheld gaming consoles seems to be at an end. From gameboy color to 3ds, Nintendo's handhelds dominated my video game experience. Nothing beat being able to put it in my pocket and go anywhere.
Sad isn't it remember fire emblem awakening a Link between Worlds resident evil revelations watching the Nintendo direct waiting for the cool announcements
I have to make sure I redownload Awakening. The others I got in hard copy, but when I broke my first 3ds I never put it on my replacement. Over 1000 hours on Y, because I finally dipped my toes in competitive pokemon. Bred most of em..ported them to Moon and UM. But not to home/switch. Seems like both yesterday and a lifetime ago
Switch is literally a handheld though? It’s too big for some pockets but it’s totally feasible to take a Switch with you in public, that’s literally the point
That was the intent when they made it. But for me, it's just too big for that. It's gotta be convenient to keep in my pocket while I work to play on lunch/break, and anything else that comes up while on the go. And all the vulnerable parts don't get any protection unless you travel with it in a case or bag, where the sp-3ds all folded and covered the screens and buttons. Now, in the days taking full size consoles to friends houses for LAN parties or whatever, it would've been great for people who did that. Smaller and easier to travel with than the gamecube. But that just isn't a box I need checked. (And even in those days, if the option was between a true handheld and the switch, I'd've taken the true handheld to my friends haha)
@@secondamendment1927 The 3DS is smaller and more durable in a pocket, that is true. Like a phone. If you want something small enough to fit easily in any pocket, but also want physical buttons, your options are pretty limited. 3DS is the only system I can think of outside of recent bootleg GBAs that lets you download games to take with you in a single pocket’s space. It’s a pretty niche market though, for people who think that the Switch is too big but that a phone isn’t adequate for on-the-go gaming, and also have the time to game while on-the-go.
There are two versions of Cave Story available on 3DS, "Cave Story 3D" that has only a physical release and "Cave Story" which is an eshop exclusive without a physical release. The big difference: "Cave Story 3D" is a 3D remake of the game with full 3D models and everything, "Cave Story" is the 2D game with 3D effects added on top of it for some extra depth. Both are fairly unique versions to the system in that regard. Edit: Additionally, a lot of DSi Ware titles are also still available for sale on the eshop for 3DS, and those will go away as well.
I still have my 3DS from when I was 6. My very first personal electronic for Christmas, what more could a kid want? We've been through a lot together, from constantly loosing my stylus to being unable to find my 3ds case with some of my favorite games in it, to beating my first ever nuzlocke; it's been through so much stuff, and the only thing "wrong" with it is that the pad doesn't have the rubber casing anymore and whenever I exit a game it goes black for like 8 seconds. I'd never part ways with it. Sorry for the long text, this got me sentimental 😆
Good job on mentioning the Pokémon transfer tool is tied to the subscription to bank. I think your video is the only one that mentions this. Only those who paid the subscription in the past or took advantage of free trial periods and downloaded the app have access to the tool
This is easily the most helpful video on this topic I’ve found so far. I’ve watched so many different videos to string together the full story, but you covered all the bases right herw
Rhythm Heaven Mega Mix felt thrown in the middle of games with physical copies. The Rhythm Heaven game strangely didn't have English physical copies. Some other games met a similar fate iirc too. Pushmo and Crashmo were also eShop exclusives despite not being mentioned specially as such. You could have had a section where you specially mentioned games without physical copies.
I’m going out to find a 2d/3ds lx for that very game…on the last day March 26th, just so I can download and have it.. I realized shit was shutting down last minute.🤦🏽♀️
One thing to note about the save data transfer tool, it seems to only allow you to transfer from a physical game to a digital game, but not the other way around. Unless I’m mistaken, but I had tested it when I bought a physical game for my collection that I had owned digitally previously
Most answers to problems in the gaming community are "mod it." I think its important to realize some people just dont feel like modding their stuff, however easier it might make their lives. Thanks dude, have a good one
I'm one of those people. It just feels weird to me modifying something that I've had with me for years unmodded. It's like I'm defiling the original product
@@ES8995 I'm exactly the same, what made me mod was that a game I wanted was £25!! im not paying that for one game so I modded purely to download games for free. I ended up finding a theme I liked but u could also keep the appearance the same as the original
Understood, I just made sure to buy a couple dozen of Paper Mario Sticker Star copies so I can enjoy that game to its full extent. Thank you for the recommendation !
Some of Fire Emblem Echos DLC is super good. If you don't want to buy the season pass, at least get the 2 maps that give you money rewards and treasures (one of them is called Astral Temple) and also buy the masterclasses. Grinding to unlock all the purchased masterclasses and getting enough money to make new weapons before attempting the postgame on hard mode was insanely satisfying for me and I totally recommend.
How much would all the dlc be? I just picked up echoes and am probably gonna make a last second dlc grab before it’s gone for good. Already did the same for awakening and fates and want to finish the collection
@@mr.krustykrust Buying all the DLC individually is around $60 I think, but getting the season pass gets everything for $44 so get the pass if you have nothing yet.
Just a quick heads PSA for Pokémon fans looking to transfer the special Ash Greninja over to Scarlet/Violet: DON'T. Battle Bond was changed in Gen IX and no longer triggers a transformation into Ash Greninja, so it's best to keep it in Gen VII until a future game decides to reintroduce the transformation.
you never mentioned rhythm thief and the emperor's treasure, a really good rhythm game made by sega. it even has stages referencing samba de amigo and space channel 5, and it was a VERY under played game, making cartridge copies cost over hundreds of dollars, when the game was only at most 30 on the eshop, so if you like rhythm games, probably want to put that on you list. also, the original two Theatrhythm final fantasy games were 3ds games, they are easier to get, but they had DLC since they were rhythm games. all 3 games are great, and definitely staying on my new 2ds xl.
I'm +10 years late but last month I finally got my first ever 3ds. I'm really sad I missed out for so long especially cuz I missed out on a bunch of features, being part of the 3ds/flipnote community, Streetpass and Spotpass etcetc. I've always been late to buying consoles and games but I will forever be gratefull that I could still get my hands on a 3ds :'3 I hope I can still get some Streetpasses at conventions
Me tooo, I got mine last year but I'm glad! As much as I like the switch, the 3ds is just so much more compelling to me, even though I have no nostalgia ties to Nintendo. Shame that seemingly no one near me owns one because I've been carrying it around with me and never found anyone on streetpass :(
Don't forget about ace attorney 5 and 6. They are available on mobile but I think a lot of people would prefer playing it on a switch and DS. Also remastered version of ace attorney 4 is only on 3DS
do you know if the ace attorney 6 dlc is on the phone versions too? i bought it on my 3ds but for some reason the dlc case is bugged and can never download it just stops at 11%
@@littlekawaiidragon that's strange. I recently bought SoJ but not the dlc yet so hopefully it doesn't get bugged for me, but I'd assume it is available on phone
I believe as long as you have purchased content on the eshop you will still be able to download it after the closure Edit: I'm an idiot who made the comment just before he said it in the video but I guess useful for anyone who missed that part of the video
Now that the E-Shop is going to close, I really wish that Nintendo made all the background themes free. Feels like a wasted opportunity to make them all unavailable to purchase, but knowing Nintendo they don’t give a shit about their fans.
Ace Attorney is actually the franchise that would be impossible to get certain games for after the eshop closes. Specifically "Dual Destinies" and "Spirit of Justice" were on no other gaming platform so far unless you count iOS. Since they both were eshop exclusive, you'd not be able to buy them other than on a mobile phone, unless Capcom announces new releases on Switch or PC.
this one im super bummed about. i wonder if they'd ever plan on putting those two games on switch or steam :( they're the only ones i haven't played because i don't have a 3DS lol
Warning about the Fire Emblem Fates DLC: Nintendo made a tweet stating sales for it would end at the end of February. A whole month before the 3DS eShop closes! So keep that in mind!
It feels like yesterday when I got my original 2DS. This is so sad because I have fond memories of looking through the eShop, But remembering I had no money so I downloaded a bunch of demos lol.
Nintendo: We’re closing ESHOP. Also Nintendo: You can’t use your card to buy games. Gonna have to use a giftcard and whatever balance is left you better use it or lose it.
There are two digital-only Ace Attorney games on the 3DS: Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice. They haven't been re-released as far as I know. Additionally, Dual Destinies has a DLC case, so this is your last chance to get that, too.
Oh and for FE Echoes, I would recommend the Cipher DLC at least! It features exclusive characters who appeared in the Japan exclusive TCG Fire Emblem Cipher which is now discontinued and the characters have yet to appear in anything else outside of this DLC. Not even the mobile game Fire Emblem Heroes still… For other DLC, there are additional story DLC for Awakening, Fates, and Echoes that might be of interest to people.
For Awakening-I at least recommend the fallen future dlc. It’s a three part story that almost serves as an epilogue to the children of awakening, should things have taken another turn
Just to note for the Pokemon section, if you have any interest in eventually setting up Homebrew on your 3DS, you'll need Pokemon Picross, as it has a data leak that's used in starting the process.
@@144heartx I'm not familiar with the whole process itself, and a method may have been found that doesn't require Picross, but it would be good to download it anyway. Pokemon Picross is free to download, so there's no real reason not to get it. As for the method of installing Homebrew, here's a recent installation tutorial that seems to be good: ua-cam.com/video/ttHCJ1oFpDc/v-deo.html
that's no longer the case! there are now methods of 3ds homebrew that don't require anything from the eshop at all. however I think people should get pokemon picross anyway because it's a cute puzzle game :)
Here are some E-Shop only games that I think might be worth checking out. Fairune is a top down pixelated puzzle game just like the original Legend of Zelda and I really enjoyed playing it! There is also a sequel to the game if you enjoyed the first one. Another game I think is worth checking out is called SEVERED, a grim game where you need to cut your way through creepy looking monsters in an attempt to save your family. I can't remember much of the game since I haven't played it in a while but I remember being invested in the story. Some other suggestions that also have physical copies: Mario and Luigi Dream Team, The Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games (there are 2 of them) and Monster Hunter Stories, all great rpgs i've come across.
So in regards to other games that will be difficult to track down I think the yo-kai watch game deserve a mention 1 and some versions of 2 you can track down physically for a decent price but the third version of 2 the spin-off blasters game and 3 all go for quite a lot physically they're all pretty good in my eyes as well and thru all(except for the first game) come with a unique yo-kai only befriendable through getting the game digitally (through a dlc code you get with your receipt so make sure to also get to the point of the game where you can redeem it before the shop closes) making the digital version actually the superior experience (which it better be for the amount of blocks it takes up) so those games are very worth taking a look at
I want to get the red cat blaster game, thinking about getting a new SD card actually due to lack of space. Then i can download it, and monster hunter stories, dragon quest 8, and corpse party i never see mentioned in videos like these. Some are available on other platforms but lack 3D functionality. Corpse party only has 3D cutscenes i believe, but yeah still exclusive to 3DS.
Recently got a new SD card so I could redownload 3. Had to delete it to make space for other games. I’m making final preparations with some of the Pokémon games I have downloaded, trying to finish them and transfer everything before it all gets wiped and I have to redownload it all again.
I’m so glad I got Rhythm Heaven Megamix, Only Japan, Korea and Europe got a physical copy of the game. America is the only region that only gets a download and a code for that game. It really isn’t fair
Out of all the Monster Hunter games to get on 3ds, 4 Ultimate is the best start. It's got the most engaging story, a lot of very memorable monsters, and has one of the best endgame challenges of the whole series.
I rather fear that it will happen that during all the years I owned my 3DS there are games I never really thought about getting but then a year or so after the e-shop closed down I will suddenly feel like I really want to play this game.
Random addition, but it's also worth noting the impermanence of items in the theme shop. A number of themes were only available for a limited time, and while I doubt that any of the paid ones still up will get pulled before the eShop closes, the possibility still remains. I'm still mad at myself for never buying the Stella Glow theme during the month or so it was available.
A VERY underrated 3DS digital exclusive is the jrpg “The Denpa Men”. There are 3 games with each of them progressively better than the last. The general base of the game is that you have a party at which you start with 4 and progressively are able to use 6 and then 8. These little fellas (the denpa men) look like teletubbies but with not so creepy faces and their abilities/powers are derived from their antenna. You have to use the AR camera to “find and catch” them throughout the real world to gain access to so many different unique characters. I really hope people check it out before it never gets to see the light of day again. Edit: Forgot to mention that it has an overall interesting story and power creep isn’t an issue either.
the 3DS was my first handheld console, I got the teal one for my 12th birthday and played Ocarina of Time nonstop. I was so excited before I got it; I'd watch review videos and read about all the features and if my mom and I happened to be by a Best Buy or Gamestop I'd go inside to play the OoT demo on the display console, lol. good times.
Really good video 👏👏👏 I’m happy you put Samus Returns on this, it’s one of the games on 3DS that I personally would recommend to any Metroid fan who hasn’t gotten around to playing it, or even non Metroid fans, it’s what got me into the series! I definitely will have to check out the eshop before it’s closed for good

Great video! I’m in the camp that isn’t concerned about the shop’s closure, but I still learned new things from you (like the exclusive Pokémon from the demos).
I did a big binge buy a while back but I think there's some free stuff I missed, thanks for this reminder. I'd been so hoping for a big closing down sale, but alas, no such luck.
I recommend getting every game and watch gallery and dsi versions while possible as this is truly the most accessible way to play the original games that started nintendo while gallery features fun reinterpretations of Gameboy versions similar to Disney fantasia
I've been on a monthly plan to buy games exclusive to the eShop and I've mostly been doing this through Nintendo's site. Now I have essentially three batches left, with the last one being titles that have had discounts at some point or of which I own a version/port of already on some other platform, but the eShop version has some differences. After that, if I still know of titles that would've been interesting to me, I'd be either waiting for a new port or sailing the seas.
@@apricot8246 Was in December's batch. My tail end batch (late next month) is with titles I haven't previously really been interested in and titles that have previously had discounts on Nintendo's site. When NSO expanded, I also shoved the remaining NES, GB and GBA titles into next month's two batches, just in case some of those titles pop up there or as remakes. 83 titles left. One of the Kirby games I bought two days before they announced a Switch remake. I coulda saved a dozen euros with that knowledge.
Wow, thanks! I didn't know of how to get all the DLC for games and other things like Pokémon Home. I am so glad I came across this video. Also, thanks for the game recommendations.
I feel like Minecraft would also be a great addition to the list. The port might not be the best, but still, it never hurts to have Minecraft on your system!
After so many years I still kept my original 3ds I took it everywhere even today its still one of my favorite gaming devices I wouldn't give it away for anything not even for money there is just some things that money cant buy thank you the President of Nintendo who is no longer here but left us with this great games I know the store is closing down and I cant get everything but the games I have I will Cherish them
If any of you are an Atlus fan (creators of the Persona and Etrian Odyssey series), I'm going to mention a few games made by that same company that's worth trying out. The game Radiant Historia perfect chronology (haven't played it but heard it's really good) is something you should consider downloading from the eshop because the physical version is like $80 or $90 but on the eshop it's only $40. Or you could mod it. Stella Glow is another Atlus game that my sister and I absolutely adore, and it's worth checking out. It has great gameplay and story.
Great video, just wanted to add that Pokémon Crystal on the Virtual Console permanently includes the Celebi event, so it's a good way to have access to this rare Pokémon without a special distribution
Something I would recommend buying is the yo-kai watch series. It is much more than just a pokemon clone, just pure fun, and has digital exclusive rewards so when the eshop goes down, those will become alot more rare
I grew up one to kai watch, I downloaded the games on my modded 3fs and have been having a blast, just started to Kai watch 3 and its actually really good! I wish they’d release yo Kai watch 4 on the English shop tho.
This makes me so incredibly sad and nostalgic. Still weird for me to use that word cause the 3ds feels like the most high tech console to me. Just like it was when I was 7.
I’ve been checking the eShop frequently for sales since they announced the closures, and I’ve gotten some good deals… but there’s still about $700-800 worth of games I want, between the 3DS and Wuu… I hope some of the big first-party Nintendo games go on sale, but I won’t hold my breath 🤷🏻♂️
Good God man just mod the console and do a google search for roms, it is incredibly easy, your giving money to the people closing the very service down
@@Sam_T2000 it's incredibly easy, and as for whether it's stealing what about after the eshop is closed and a game is no longer sold? How is it stealing then? It's about game preservation after games are no longer sold so that a game doesn't just doesn't disappear and fade into obscurity
@@AlastorShadow0 Nah when they ain't being sold anymore how else will you get them digital? If a game is still being sold ill buy it and support the dev, but in this case the eshop is being closed by Nintendo and I'm not going to give nintendo money on a service they're closing for practically no reason. And I'm serious about it game preservation is important its why I collect physical copies of old games and have a collection because one: games back in the day only came physical and are no longer produced. Two: with games out today this is my exact fear is buying digital and then servers and storefront disappear. With the 3ds after the eshops close your digital buying option and you can only get 3ds games physical or by pirating. If you go physical where the games are no longer produced physical you are now at the mercy of paying whatever price some rando on ebay wants to charge and some of these 3ds games go up into 100-200$ range for a physical copy now, and even if you do pay that you're no longer supporting the devs anymore. So if you're not a physical edition collector willing to pay a premium , I really can't understand why you wouldn't pirate in this case?
I just want a four swords anniversary re release on my modern gold triforce link between worlds 3DS before the shop closes. I have it on a DSI. But good lord it would be nice to have it on the bigger screen.
I would highly recommend radiant historia: perfect chronology. It is essentially chrono trigger 2, and just as good, if not better. Innovative battle system, good characters, very good story and the game can be quite challenging, as many bosses are more of a battle puzzle rather than straight up level & equipment check.

I think this is the last Nintendo console I purchase. My favorite handheld that served to introduce me to Monster Hunter and Etrian Odyssey. With the extortionate price of the switch games, they should be able to keep the store open.

Ok I think theres not much u missed but I’ll say the ones I think u’ve missed. 1. Many companies do this. Old gen consoles eventually get sold less, less games are released on the old gen console and the new console is used more. It's always been this way.
@@Diogo85 and it has to change
At the very least they should’ve made it possible to play older games on a newer console
[Laughs in custom firmware]

Edit: Guys, I have a confession to make. I didn't even watch the video. I literally just saw the title, and clicked on the video just so I can say this.
@@robotwrench Yeah I think a lot of people joke about it but some people are serious. The only fair complaint I see is that it's too soon to close, but this has nothing to do with pirating
People just try to make excuses to pirate games so that they don't feel guilty, but I have yet to hear an actually solid argument that isn't "If Nintendo doesn't want me to pirate, why don't they make every single one of they're thousands of games available on the newest console and never close the old eshops 🤓"
Also it's not fair to people who bought the games, but that isn't really relevant if you're talking about morally right or wrong.
@Thomas Hawkins And why wouldn't they? Everyone acts like this was some sort of betrayal. Nintendo isn't your buddy, they're a corporation.

I got my 3ds back when I was age 10 in 2011. Same it was a huge part of my childhood as well.
Good job on mentioning the Pokémon transfer tool is tied to the subscription to bank. I think your video is the only one that mentions this. Only those who paid the subscription in the past or took advantage of free trial periods and downloaded the app have access to the tool

Out of all the Monster Hunter games to get on 3ds, 4 Ultimate is the best start. It's got the most engaging story, a lot of very memorable monsters, and has one of the best endgame challenges of the whole series.

Just bought the game on eshop, the theme was given with it. It is at 3.99€ on sale
A nightmare I encountered was finding out I had 2 separate Nintendo accounts (one for switch and one for 3DS) and you could only link 1 to your Nintendo Network ID effectively rendering any remaining funds in my 3DS account since you can't merge them so I'm gonna buy some of those cheap games we will never see again.
Thank you for this! It's finally giving me the kick I need to get started on preparing my 3DS for the shutdown.
