Kid Icarus Uprising is legit my favourite original 3DS game that isn't a remake and the most memorable 3DS game I've played. Even the online mathces were fun!
Corpse Party and the first Dementium also come to mind. Dementium might be available on the DS but it's fairly expensive while the one on the eShop is an HD Remaster if I'm not wrong so it has a few extra features from the second game such as saving in mirrors.
I never had a 3DS but I remember always wanting one when I was younger. I grew up with the DS and the DSi and I loved them, even though I didn't have many games for them and I didn't play most of the flagship titles for the DS. I still have those two DSs to this day. Even still, the 3DS is definitely an awesome little handheld with a bunch of great flagship titles, but tons - and I mean TONS - of hidden gems, probably even more so than the Switch and other Nintendo consoles. I haven't played a lot of 3DS games, but the ones I did play I played through emulation and they were great. In a way, the 3DS is the greatest console I have fond memories of that I never owned. Shame the 3DS eShop is shutting down, but this is why emulation is so important. All those 3DS eShop exclusives will be preserved through emulation so long as someone has uploaded their ROMs on the internet. And, from what I can tell, most of them are. Just downloaded BoxBoy a couple weeks ago.
If you're a Resident Evil fan then I highly recommend the 3DS games. Revelations has been ported to home consoles but the episode system and raid mode are very much suited for pick-up-and-play. Mercenaries is a godly addictive too and you can always enjoy shooting more zombies to increase your high score.

The 3DS version of Pirates Curse is the best version because, not only due to the second screen features and 3D, but also the camera is pulled out farther so you can see far more of the stage in the 3DS version leader to far fewer blind jumps, etc. This also makes the pixel art look crisp and higher resolution, despite the lower resolution of the handheld. I'm surprised that no one mentions Zenonia. Zenonia is one of my favorite games of all time. Despite the difficulty of this game, it is still the best game I ever own. I'm glad I got it before it shut down.
I have two questions about the Yo-Kai Watch games: 1. There are like 3 versions of the second game… what’s the difference between them? I’m aware that Bony/Fleshy were dual releases like how Pokémon does, but then what’s the difference between them and Psychic? Is Psychic supposed to be the “complete” version (combines content from both into one game), or is it supposed to be the 3rd iteration in the second game’s release? 2. Are the Blasters games worth checking out? Haven’t heard anything about either game and haven’t gotten the chance to research it myself
You talked me into Monster Hunter Stories. I have a ton of 3DS/DS games, but with the eShop closing, I have some serious FOMO going on. Thanks for the video!
Hey I just got it too! I played the second one and love it to bits, and I'm liking the first one too, even though it's a lot less polished in comparison. Have you played the second one, Wings of Ruin, or is this one your first MH Stories game?
nothing's going to disappear once the E-shop closes. Emulation will preserve even the games that were only available at the shop. Just get an emulator and keep playing your games from your 3DS or whatever your platform of choice might be
I finally homebrewed a 3ds the other day, mostly in response to the eshop closing I wanted to test it out before it was gone. Can’t believe I didn’t do this sooner. We really aren’t losing very much with the eshop if people can be less afraid to spend 20 minutes following a simple guide.
I have major issues getting the 3DS demos to decrypt correctly. However, it is nice how relatively little is at risk of getting left behind. Even the Wiiu VC is fully backed up as far as I can see.

Excellent list and while the zeldas and pokemon physical copies are still affordable, the dragon quest games on the 3ds cost over an arm and leg for physical copies
Not for long though! The US versions of 3DS Pokemon games are already climbing in price on Amazon, while the "world edition" ones with the UAE/Saudi/Malaysia/Singapore dot on the cover remain at or near MSRP -- unless you collect cases, these are absolutely the way to buy them right now in North America since the cartridge, its contents and its sticker are completely identical to the regular US version and even say "-USA" in the product code at the bottom of the cartridge sticker. I also recommend buying Pokemon games as physical rather than digital since players seem much more upset about losing Pokemon save files than with most other games. If you have it on a cartridge and your 3DS or the SD card inside it breaks, you still have both the game and the save; if it was an eShop version you could call Nintendo to unlink the NNID from the old console, link it to a new one (or just pop in a new SD if that's what broke) and redownload the game, but the save is gone.

Technically, the easiest thing to do is to just run an emulator, but if you want to use official hardware, modding a 3ds is super easy compared to the Switch.
Important questionnnnnns please answer. 1.if I get my SD card from one 3ds that has downloaded games like Korg dsn-12 and I put that SD card in another 3ds will I be able to play them ? 2. Am I able to copy all the data from one SD card to another card? I wanna have 2 of the Sam 3ds for what I use them for and I don’t wanna have to click and click on the 3ds and download all my data if I can just copy it using my computer
1. No, you won't be able to play them on a different 3DS. You have to do a system transfer. You may not be able to do this if you don't have access to the account the games were bought on. Alternatively you might also be able to transfer the games through softmodding. 2. Yes, you could copy the files, but they won't work on another 3Ds unless you do a system transfer.

Thank goodness for being to have stuff like hshop only reason I'm gonna be able to play 3ds game in the future
Great list but in my opinion you forgot the mainline Monster Hunter series, specially MH 4 Ultimate which is probably in the top best 3ds games.
Classic MH is goated. Still play 3U and 4U all the time
Just want people to know that Fire Emblem Fates has story dlc that will be lost once the Eshop is gone.
I'm surprised that no one mentions Zenonia. Zenonia is one of my favorite games of all time. Despite the difficulty of this game, it is still the best game I ever own. I'm glad I got it before it shut down.
It's amazing the amount of quality games on the 3DS. Hopefully the majority of exclusives don't get lost.
I have two questions about the Yo-Kai Watch games:
No problem. Hope you enjoy Monster Hunter Stories :)
You could hack the 3DS and no worries for FOMO than.
@@auginetic is homebrew a 3ds is like the switch where the console can be banned or you can't get banned on 3ds. The second question is if my homebrew 3ds can I still get games after e-shop closes or do I still have to buy them on eBay.
What a relief to click a video like this, and it's actually good. Easygoing style, very concise, lots of knowledge, just very pleasant to get through. Great list too imo.
That kid Icarus game looks and seems so awesome but it cramps my hands to no end. Sucks because I really wanna play it!
Oh and great video. Thank you for taking the time to put it together!
It's worth noting that Cave Story 3D is only available physically as the digital version is Cave Story+ with the classic pixel art. The physical version is the only way to play Cave Story with 3D assets
Not true. I own both and the pixelated digital one is also 3d- i just verified it 😉
@@jesusloveschad They both have 3D, but only the physical release is called Cave Story 3D. Cave Story+ is the digital version, it has more content and is all sprite art. Cave Story 3D uses more modern assets but has content more akin to the original Cave Story release. It was a graphical remake of the original game, the digital version is an expanded version of that original game.
@@Chronoflation nice. I really enjoy both but the pixelated one is definitely my fav. I love that they're both in 3d 🥰
Just pointing something out; you called one of the Mario and Luigi games Inside Bowser's Story. It's actually Bowser's Inside Story.
Inside Bowser 😩 what a story!
@@TheFallofTheEleventh lol
And Zelda a link between time, instead of a link between worlds. Ooh my inner nerd didn't like that one.
4:47 I'm not sure you know what "dystopia" means x)
I have the physical version of ever oasis and it's one of my favourite 3ds games!
In my opinion I think the best game that you can buy right now is Mario and Luigi Dream Team.
Best game for Nintendo 3ds
Yes. Dream Team Is a gem. Definitely the best 3DS M&L game. Paper Jam is alright tho.
I recommend everyone to mod their 3ds as it's not only very easy but also allows for all kinds of customization and emulation
Been really enjoying my 3DS lately and I find it to be a great companion handheld for my Switch. This vid came at the right time. I really wanna get into Fantasy Life and check what it is about before we get the sequel.
Get the Switch version of Fantasy Life.
@@wayner7263 is Fantasy Life on Switch? I've never heard of a port from the 3DS.
@@chokedbybacklog5433 yes. It was announced on Nintendo direct
@@wayner7263 That's the sequel that I'm talking about. The original is on 3DS.
I could be wrong but didn't they remake a fantasy life for the switch ?
Shout out to chuggaaconroy for bringing some of these games, like Kid Icarus Uprising, to light. That one deserves a Switch remake!!
That LP was one of his best!
That’s a classic. Will say though KiU was heavily advertised about a year before that playthrough though
I just took a second mortgage out on my house, just so I could buy all these games physically.
I literally have all these games on the list plus way more downloaded and on my backlog...I have no clue how I'm going to get through all these amazing games! Any pros here have any tips?? Currently working on finishing Pokemon X & Y, Kirby Planet Robobot, Animal Crossing New Leaf, and Ace Attorney Trilogy...would it be better to focus on one game at a time and beat it faster and move onto the next? Or juggle multiple games simultaneously?
I usually play one game at a time that I focus on the story for. and then I can juggle any number of pick up and play titles simultaneously
@@c4rsonlee same same, one story game or game with progression at a time while playing a bunch of "party" "puck up and play games" simultaneously
So i got a “New 3ds XL” with physical Pokemon X and Y for 260
And the condition is surprisingly so good lmao, good investment?😅
Probably could have gotten it for cheaper. But still a very nice pick up with an included game.
No that’s a good deal!
Just make sure to get Pokemon bank and Poke transporter (needs a paid bank membership) if you haven't yet.
@@aikou2886 yea i saw that, fortunately its only 5$
I just gotta find a way to get the old ds games at a good price💀
@@zen_coco2658 If you can, try to go to yard sales or flea markets. That's pretty much the only way to get them at an affordable price nowadays lol.
Check your local libraries. Some allow you to checkout games; it's a free way to experience great titles that may be a high price to buy.
Dude, anyone can just mod their 3DS. All these games are still around today to download any time you want
I just charged up my 3d lx and started Zelda between 2 worlds! My number 1 game.
For anyone who isn't looking to pay their entire bloodlines earnings for 13 year old games, I highly suggest moding your system. The prosses is very strait forward and it realy adds alot of diffrent possibilities even beyond the games
Persona is good but Etrian Odyssey deserves it's own spot. It's use of both screens is going to be hard to replicate.
I really hate the “before it’s too late” the 3ds is making a comeback because everyone is modding their 3ds and it’s as easy as ever
Yup just homebrewed mine yesterday
4:40 - 4:48 Sounds interesting :)
7:57 hazah, a man of culture!
I have nearly all the games featured in this list!!
Can’t wait to try some of them out as I have not really got around to my 3DS yet..
I think I’ll play one of the Fire Emblem games?
I wish I focused more on getting games on my 3ds instead of my ps3 and steam. it's really hard to find the games I want nowadays
Thanks for this list
Found two weird programs for 3ds - both are synthesizer emulators - Korg M01D and Korg DSN-12
Also I would recommend kirby triple deluxe, it’s not as good as kirby planet robobot, but it is still enjoyable with its unique puzzles with its hyper nova gimmick and the level design.
I'd welcome a HD version of Samus Returns for the Switch with Fusion mode unlockable without the need for a Amiibo.

I highly recommend Heroes of Ruin for a fantastic action rpg local multiplayer experience. If you have friends with their own 3ds system.
Best list I've ever seen. Really professional channel. I subbed.
why compare prizes or cry about the shop when you can just mod your 3ds ;)
Ok question for you guys...I'm reading about Home Brew and going to do that with my New Nintendo 3DSXL soon. Can you download pretty much any DS game on a certain website with cia files on it?
Yes I just homebrewed mine last week, 3ds, dsiware, virtual console, updates, and dlc's are all available through homebrew
Probably really late but I’m home brewed my 3ds yesterday and downloaded Hshop and I can download any game directly from my 3ds don’t have to remove the back plate and put sd card in computer it’s slower but I don’t care.
Castlevania Mirror of Fate is one of the best looking 3D games on the switch. Check it out!
Great list! Happy to say I own all of these games already!
Just mod your 3ds
He really said “Monster Hunter 4 Generations”…
I have a feeling someone else made the script and this is just some random guy reading it lmao
I felt this deep in my Mogan heart
So glad I got the physical version of FE Fates with the DLC
No mention of Rhythm Thief even though it was in the intro??? My dude! It's fantastic and yall need it!!!
Why worry bout buying any if them when you can just mod the systems, and download those games onto it.
I honestly don't know what version but when I played rain Man on the DSi it was the best version I ever played it even if I ran out of continues I can go back and collect more
October 1st 2024, i just recently modded my new 2ds xl by following an easy youtube guide that took less then 10min.....best decision of my life!!! I havent been happier!!! Hshop, do i need to say more😂😂😂 i have all these games plus more!!! In the region of $10,000 + worth of games on my handheld 👌😏💥💎💎💎
I have questions, please help me
what the best moding my nintendo switch or buy the 3ds ?
Technically, the easiest thing to do is to just run an emulator, but if you want to use official hardware, modding a 3ds is super easy compared to the Switch.
I'm so sad to have lost Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright to a past relationship, where we split our games in half, for both to keep some of them.
Awesome video man! I’m so glad I found your channel! Subscribed!
Well I guess I could count assassin 3D iversion the first Rayman you could actually go back and collect continues
You have kid Icarus on the list. I approve!
One of my favorite consoles. It sucks that the games are getting so expensive now.
Bless the Hshop
Sssshhh dont let nintendo hear about it
downloaded all of these games in a day for FREE🤑🤑🤑
I bought Starlink on Switch because it came with Starfox and his fighter. Is that not a Starfox game?
No, it plays pretty differently, it's the classic Ubisoft open world game
@@luisoncpp I've played it. Whether it controls the same or not, there are space and planetary flight missions you can play as StarFox, so I say it is! lol
I don't know about the PlayStation Raymond I had it on the Sega Saturn you could not go back and collect any continues are men so it was definitely hard
Very happy that I bought my copy of Azran Legacy last year when it wasn’t stupidly expensive
I have not watched this video yet, or looked at any of the comments, although I can see out of the corner of my eye that someone posted a list of the games and time stamps. I have intentionally not looked at it. I predict that this list will have;
A Mario Kart game
A Zelda game
A Castlevania
I'm pretty sure those are required by law to be on any top games list for a Nintendo console.
EDIT: OK, I just looked at the list, and I see a Castlevania game isn't included. I'm shocked! I forgot to mention Final Fantasy though, which is represented in the video. Oh, and Pokemon of course. I think you get the death penalty if you don't include a Pokemon game in a Nintendo top games list.
Fire Emblem saga recently gettin popular ....yes...from the last 20 years
Cave Story 3D isn't available digitally.
Hshop its never to late
You forgot Xenoblade Chronicles 3DS and Resident Evil Revelations
Get DQ VIII!
Zelda is soo good on the 3ds. Switch EVEN topped it I love Nintendo for that.
I am very happy for jrpg fans being able to enjoy this console, but man... not liking jrpgs and getting a 3ds is just the biggest mistake I have ever made. There are barely any other games worth playing. But hey, now its just my monster hunter and emulation machine so I am still happy.
one of my favorites and not on this list rhythm heaven megamix....play if you didn't
Gosh, I love INSIDE BOWSERS STORY what a great game 😂😂😂😂
Can i still load my acc on 3ds with money? Dont wanna waste money
You cannot load through the 3ds eShop but you can load the money through the Nintendo website so it shows up in your 3ds wallet.
Ha jokes on you I’ll just use piracy
what are the odds of encountering a virus or something when pirating?
@gregsmith8977 pretty low if you only go through trusted sources like hshop, which is all most people need to do what they want anyway
@@cccoolbucket1285Also, using a good antivirus removes a lot of the risk.

I have a physical copy of Phoenix Wright vs Professor Layton. I am king.
O.o all hail the king!
