Not only that, but he doesn't have the Alm Amiibo so he showed the Chrom Amiibo instead. Update: Apparently Nathaniel does have the Alm Amiibo but it's still laughable that he showed Chrom and Celica instead of both Alm and Celica.
For me as a big Celica fan it's a bit weird to don't hear Celica spoken right but this name is not the easiest even if I love this name a lot (and the character too).
Luigi's Mansion definitely strikes the best balance. The amiibo are obviously not necessary, but the buffs they give are at the right level. Not too strong to take away from the game, but good enough to actually justify them. That goes for all four as well, not just some.
WOAHWOAHWOAH. You skipped over THE most important part of the Planet Robobot amiibo! (This was the first amiibo I ever bought for myself. I didn’t want to buy an amiibo until there was one that offered me something specific.) If you have a Kirby amiibo, you can use UFO…ANYTIME, ANYWHERE! This is a HUGE plus for a Kirby fan!!! I absolutely adore my Kirby amiibo and I protect it with my life (perhaps that’s a bit dramatic). The reason the Captain Toad amiibo works differently than the Wii U version is because the 3DS version mirrors the SWITCH version, NOT the Wii U version. So the Pixel Toad challenges are no longer locked behind amiibo. My favorite use ever of amiibo is Samus Returns. Thankfully, I managed to collect all of the amiibo. They are EXTREMELY handy, but the fact that the Metroid amiibo locks an entire game mode behind it is definitely disliked by the community. So grateful I got it. 🙏🏻 (Although that lost music performance that was locked behind the Squid Sisters is up there, LOL).
Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World actually has more Amiibo skins than the WiiU version, since there are Yoshi patterns for some amiibos that aren’t in the WiiU version. Also, you forgot to mention that Mini Mario and friends amiibo challenge can be played with any amiibo figure, but any amiibo not compatible just gets you a block toy character to play as without any abilities. So you can at least play a few levels of the game with just a generic amiibo.
You know this just makes me sad that the era of the WII U/3DS is over....so many memories with the 3DS especially. I mean this was when i discovered kirby for the first time...which has since become my favorite series of all time.
Nintendo eras are defined by home consoles because handhelds span through multiple Nintendo eras. The 3DS lasted for 3 Nintendo eras: Wii (2011-2012), Wii U (2012-2017) and Switch (2017-2023).
Oh well wasn't expecting this at all, but yea it's still quite intriguing on the plethora of achievements and practicalities Amiibos really had! Great video as always Nathaniel! ❤️
01:07 I have to strongly disagree. In Happy Home Designer, every day there are like 5-10 villagers walking around your Plaza and if you talk to them you can decorate their home.
I love how in hey Pikmin Olimar can make logs about the characters you put in and see his different thoughts about everyone even ones he saw in smash bros
Pokémon Sun/Moon and Ultra Sun/Moon aren’t compatible with Amibo but it lets you scan 10 QR codes per day and each Pokémon in the Pokédex has a QR code you can scan to register it as seen. Codes that aren’t connected to a particular Pokémon will register a random Pokémon from gens 1-7 as seen. They are required to get the original Cap Pikachu and Megearna. When you scan a QR code you get 10 QR points but some special codes give you 20 points when you scan them, once you collect 100 QR points you can activate an island scan. In an island scan the island you are on gets scanned and depending on the day of the week you will be given a special encounter with a Gen 1-6 Pokémon, none of the islands scan exclusive Pokémon are in the Pokédex so you can complete your Pokédex without ever using island scan. I believe that Pokémon Gen 7 are the only 4 Nintendo games where you can scan QR codes
Woahwoahwoah, I will not stand for this Style Savvy (or Style Boutique for us Europeans) slander, for I am neither a teenager nor a girl, and I really enjoy the series! Granted a small part of it is nostalgia for playing the very first installment as a kid, but even now at 24yo I find great joy in playing the games, it's satisfying to create cool outfits :D
20:18 So i have something to say about this one, Nintendo updated the Wii U version to accept Poochy in 2017, with the same functionality as the 3DS. Also, if i remember correctly, the 3DS version is compatible with more amiibo than the Wii U.
It's worth mentioning that Amiibo-summoned villagers in New Leaf will never request to leave unless all ten villagers were summoned from Amiibo (Leaving you with nine, and eventually one natural move-in, who will be the only to ever want to leave. You can never get down to eight or fewer Amiibo-summoned villagers.). You can kick one out by inviting another Amiibo Villager to come to your town and choosing them, but obviously that just trades one Amiibo villager for another. And to be clear, this is any Villagers that are invited to move in via Amiibo, not just the Amiibo-exclusive Villagers. It's fine if you have someone you want to stay in your town forever, but if you're like me and actually like villagers having agency, it's definitely something to keep in mind. Personally, it gives me uncomfortable vibes of holding them hostage indefinitely until I decide to run them out of town.
One of the things I'm surprised hasn't been used as a Amiibo Feature is music remixes. Like come on it would be sick to hear some music from X franchises in other games as optional battle themes, like a Splatoonified Legend Of Zelda theme, or Xenobladeified World 1-1 lmao.
More details on the Fire Emblem amiibo! For Echoes: SoV, the Alm (not Chrom!) and Celica (pronounced sell-i-ka) amiibo unlock one dungeon each. Beating these dungeons unlocks exclusive items. For Fates, upon scanning any of the four amiibo, they first appear in your castle and ask you a question. You will be gifted a specific accessory based on your answer. You have to do this two times, and then the third time you scan the amiibo is when you're allowed to fight the character and recruit them. I just learned that scanning the amiibo a FOURTH time (or any time after fighting the amiibo character) will allow them to appear in in-game shops. Finally, in Warriors, scanning the Chrom and Tiki amiibo specifically for the first time will unlock exclusive weapons for those characters. Afterwards, they function like the other FE amiibo. Also I AM that player who played a ton of Style Savvy and got all the amiibo items I could. It did take a while, but I love those games lol. One thing you didn't mention about Fashion Forward in particular is that you can only scan specific amiibo once a day, and the items you get have color variations. Unlocking all the items and their variations is even more time-consuming than you describe because sometimes the same color/style variation amiibo character shows up and you have to reject them and try again tomorrow. Unlocking every variation ultimately comes down to luck and patience.
I wish more games had amiboo functions to make them like a dlc bonus that Fire emblem fates did this so well by giving the units their special class and weapon on top of them being able to give you knock offs of them too. It was so good. Codename steam same thing. You get Marth lucina Ike and robin to play with and that makes the game way more fun Wish more games did this so when someone buys an amiboo they can get extra benefits down the line. Fire emblem echoes ruined this btw. It was close to greatness
That's because Nintendo did a bad job when marketing the Wii U where the name of the console as well as the commercial focusing on the Gamepad instead of the actual console made people belived it was an add-on for the Wii instead of a new console.
I mean it’s because the Wii U undersold so therefore it was a failure that Nintendo axed it so quickly but the 3DS didn’t but imagine if the Wii U did sell well
