If you look down on the comments, I'm almost certain that I've commented multiple times on this video, but I can't help it!! 😂 it's so amazing, it needs its recognition!! 😁 I have literally made this lasagna so many times. I will only use this recipe from now on. I actually just doubled your recipe and made one HUGE 21.6 lb Lasagna today! I can't wait to eat it. I'll probably wait about an hour and a half to cut it. ❤
It was by far the best lasagna my family has ever had. The meat sauce was perfect. We soaked the noodles for 30ish minutes in warm water and it turned out PERFECT. They weren’t over or under cooked. I’ve had many people ask about the recipe already. This one is going in the home cook book for sure. Thank you for the hard work and video!
I've been making lasagna for 50 years with great memories of my mother! I missed that part of putting warm water on the lasagna, she just did it. I ❤ it
Tried this recipe today. It was actually my very first time making lasagna. WOW! I would never imagine that any first time round at making lasagna (by anyone) would be my favorite! Thank you so much for sharing!!!
I'm 100% Sicilian and this is pretty much how my mom and nonna made their lasagna. I spread the ricotta mixture on the noodles first, then lay them in the pan one at a time. Nice job!
Thanks so much. 2 tips I will keep from this, the soaking the noodles and sliced cheese. One thing you might want to try is when starting to add the tomato products START with the paste. Cooking the paste a little draws out the natural sweetness. Thanks again!
Yes! You just brought back a childhood memory for me. My Mom use to start with a giant pot on low heat- added: Olive oil, Onion, Garlic, Bay Leaf then the tomato paste soon after. 🙏🏼Thank you for that.
This is the lasagna recipe I've been looking for ! I've always had difficulty producing a lasagna that was meaty enough yet moist enough so as not to dry out. The ratio of meat-to-sauce-to-cheese-to-pasta is spot on in this recipe. I was a little leery of trying the "pasta hack" but it worked perfectly. I will never boil lasagna noodles again. I did tweak the sauce a little with a 1/2 tsp of baking soda to reduce acidity but followed everything else to the letter. Everyone loved this lasagna. Thank You !
I haven't made Lasagna in years, but this is by far the best Lasagna I've had since forever ago. I was hesitant on clicking on this video because everyone claims to have "the best" but this recipe wins. Super simple and not so labor intensive.
I followed your recipe an I can honestly say you made a lot of people very happy an the all said it was the best they had ever had. Our one guest said he hated lasagna, but after trying yours, he said it was the most flavorful he had ever tried and took a lot of leftovers home. Lol thank you
I’ve been making lasagna my entire life - so many wonderful memories with my grandmother ❤️ your tip of pouring warm water over the lasagna pasta was pure genius ❤️
Do they stay on the firm side or are they totally soft and bendable after I want to use this method but need to know the specifics. Also I’m using the hottest tap water is that right because she didn’t say boiling water just hot
Thank you so much for using the ricotta!! I've seen people using cottage cheese! Cottage cheese DOES NOT belong in lasagna! Ever! That lasagna looks so super tasty!!
I made two of these lasagnas yesterday. Fed one to my household, the other is going to my sister. My family LOVED this. They liked it WAY more than the allrecipes recipe, and make no mistake that one is excellent. But this recipe is an absolute winner. The flavor dynamic is just fabulous. Five stars for sure! Thank you!
I made this lasagna and it was amazing. I've been making lasagna for years and this is the best recipe ever! I was skeptical about pouring the warm water over the noodles but it worked! Thanks so much!
You explain everything so well, you speak at the perfect pace. I am definitely making this today! Thank you so much. So easy to understand you and follow what you’re doing!
I looooooove this recipe so much! I have a pot of the sauce going on the stove right now to eat over shell pasta because my 5 year old requests it all the time. So yummy and hearty!
I’m glad I watched this before I make lasagna tomorrow. I can’t wait to try that with the noodles. I also like the way she worked the noodles, just like a puzzle!
OMG, what a great looking lasagna!!! I just love the way you are so thorough at explaining all the steps to making your recipes, and this is another step by step video that will help so many people in making this. I like the idea of soaking the noodles like that, no guesswork is right. I have got to try your recipe, it sounds and looks so wonderful. I think I need a lasagna baking dish, as I like the 3 layers verses the two. Thanks so much Rachel..... Many hugs to you. Claudia
I made this today, and can I tell you it was absolutely delicious. Even though I didn't have all the ingredients, IT STILL TASTED AMAZING!!!! My mother loved it
I recently came across your channel and quickly became a fan. I love your recipes and awesome tips. I also appreciate how you don't waste the viewer's time. Every recipe I have tried of yours has been delicious!
I finally made this tonight and oh my word...soooooo delicious! I'm more sauce than pasta, this recipe has a great balance between the 2. She had me at fennel seed, give it a try, looking at the ingredients, you won't be disappointed! Enjoy!
I made this! The store bought Stoffers lasagna gives me bad heart burn. Making this lasagna came out so much better the sauce is amazing! And no heart burn! Best lasagna yet! Thank you
I made this for my boyfriend for our 5th anniversary and we loved it! I was so scared it wouldn't turn out well because I had to substitute a few things( ricotta for drained cottage cheese, nutmeg for a tad of cinnamon, couldn't find tomato paste so I made my own from scratch) but it was amazing. I will definitely make it again for my birthday ❤
I made this lasagna recipe. Being single it was much more than I could eat so I shared it with friends. They said it was the best lasagna they've ever tasted in their life. I did substitute the plain tomato sauce with a equal amount of olive oil/basil spaghetti sauce
Because of your easy follow cooking steps, my girlfriend can't believe I have taken over the cooking duties. She doesn't know, that I have been following your cooking directions. So thank you very much.
Omg I'm so glad I tried this. I did this recipe step by step and it came out delicious. Only difference that I did was use cream cheese. Thanks for sharing
Hi Rachel what a delicious recipe !!! My family and I are vacationing in Italy and I saw you at the museum in Florence today, but I was ashamed to go talk to you !! Here at home we are super fans of you and we make your recipes a lot. Big kiss from your fans from Brazil🥰🇧🇷

I have made this recipe many times. It is the best lasagna recipe I have ever found and so easy. This is a hit for sure! My family loves it! Thank you sweet child.
I always add Fennel to my homemade Italian Tomato Sauces. It adds a deeper depth of flavor. By the way, I learned from my sister years ago that you don't have to boil the lasagna noodles (nor soften them) prior assembly for the dish. You just add extra fluid to the sauce. The noodles cook as it bakes. It's such a time saver and turns out perfectly!
I love this recipe ! have made it now 4 times and the flavors are succulent! The fennel addition is genius. I am going to make it for 25 Italian friends on July 16. Any tips for this large crowd? I think 2 lasagnas should be enough. Thank you for this fantastic recipe ❤️🇮🇹 Michael Catalino
Made this last night and it was fantastic! Easily the best lasagna I've ever tasted. And you're right, the bolognese sauce can stand on it's own. Thanks for another great recipe added to my collection of favorites!

I really love your recipe for lasagna! I've got a close friend that I spend a lot of time with. A little over a year ago we finally perfected our lasagna that we've always made together, and it is sooo good we get requests for it! :) Your recipe only has 2 different ingredients than ours, the addition of an egg and the fennel seed. Well. I did it!!!! My GOD you're so right. The sauce is amazing just by itself. It was so easy and a bit time consuming but MUCH better than store bought and makes so much more. Great lunches for work this week. Thank you.
I tried in bechamel sauce & it's also delicious. I hope I could have one fresh ricotta cheese here in the market. Thank you for sharing your yummy recipe.
What a wonderful recipe and presentation thank you! I am making this for a friend's birthday Monday. I was wondering if you refrigerate day before do you need to cook longer or maybe let it sit out to get to room temp?
BIG HIT!! TY so much. I read some reviews saying guests said “ Best lasagna I’ve ever had!” & I thought, really? These folks must not live in or near Little Italy NYC… but my family members ALL said it too! 😳 I did NOT expect That! 😱 They are STILL talking about it 2 days after Xmas dinner. ( Never happens)… * note: I simmered sauce for 4 hours in a crock pot & BOY! What a difference this makes!) Thank you once again! 👌🏻
Rachel you give away all the secrets! 😂 If they try this recipe, it's a sure bet they won't be to their old ways. Been using this recipe (sans the fennel seeds) for over 25 years, and everyone loves it. Good job!
Outstanding recipe and very well narrated. You have great presence as a Chef and thank you for the great lasagna recipe especially pouring the warm H2O on the pasta.
This is my favorite lasagna recipe! However I “upgrade” this recipe with some flavor boosters I’ve seen in other recipes which makes an amazing beefy sauce. Not traditional additions so don’t come for me. My personal recipe tips/tweaks: - Use sweet Italian turkey sausage instead of pork 🦃 - Add 2 pieces of star anise (boost flavor of meat) ⭐️ - Add 1 tbsp of white miso paste (what miso does to this sauce is.. remarkable) - If adding miso paste & soy sauce, add less salt & taste test🧂 - Add 2-3 tbsp of soy sauce - Make sure to add the sugar. It cuts acidity. If you don’t like sweet sauce, then put 1/2 the measurement in her recipe. Since I use miso paste & soy sauce, it balances perfectly. - 30 min simmer is ok if you want quick meal. But if you simmer for 1-3 hrs, it gets better in time. - I add my homemade Italian seasoning + Trader Joe’s everyday seasoning. I feel like the recipe alone could definitely use more flavor. - Add 1/4 cup sweet bell pepper (any color) 🌶 - Add the tomato paste BEFORE the crushed tomatoes & sauce. Mix the paste with the meat onion mixture first until you get a rusty color, then add the other tomato ingredients.🥫 - This recipe says 15 oz tomato sauce but I add a little extra so the sauce doesn’t get too dry in the oven when baking. - Use “fire roasted” crushed tomatoes 🍅🔥 Yes I love experimenting 😍
Thank you for this awesome Lasagna Recipe. Restaurant quality lasagna coming from my kitchen thanks to your explanation and attention to detail. I have been making it for two years now and a very welcome holiday treat from my family. I made a double batch and froze the other which was perfect for another celebration recently.
I've made your first lasagna recipe so many times, and it was so amazing, so thank you for a new updated version! It's a staple in my house now. However, the only part I struggle with is that the noodles stick together when they're fresh out of the water, and this tends to rip them apart. Any suggestions for keeping them firm and not sticking to one another?
I’ve been wanting to try the recipe with the sauce versus the ricotta. My hubs loves my lasagna but I have to lie and yell him it’s cottage cheese! I’m sure he’d love the sauce tho!
Now I Do turkey ground meat add my favorite spaghetti sauce with chunky mushrooms and the sausage i dont add extra fennel cause it's already in the sausage, I add tomatoes sauce and petite diced tomatoes all the seasoning but add brown sugar to cut I also only use ricotta cheese no spaghetti parm I use Mozzarella And of course the Lasagna noodle hack but use Very Hot water turns out perfect 👌 Every time and top with mixed cheese on top. Looks Great!
I made this yesterday and followed the recipe to a T. Came out AMAZING!!! the sauce is ridiculously delicious!!! will be my go to sauce for my pastas too!
The sauce is amazing.. I made this yesterday.. yes it is good on it own into the regards of the sauce. But the lasagna turn out well. But I Need to still work on my lasagna.. I am going to put the cheese on top at the very end.. since it always love to stick to the foil when taken off.. when your 25 minutes is up.. I am going to make this sauce as well and freeze for later use
I am using your recipe (quadrupled😅) to serve at Thanksgiving for my family. The pan is so big I'm using a step stool to properly stir.🤣😂🤣😂 You've definitely made the recipe easy to follow. Thank you so much. 🥰🤗❤️
Something I like to do is stick 6-10 toothpicks in my lasagna so the foils sits on top of them. This helps to make sure the precious cheese won't touch and stick to it. Just remember to remove the toothpicks.
I made this recipe and it turned out to be one of the easiest and best lasagna I’ve had. Only thing I did different was I boiled the noodles first. But still one of the best lasagnas.
I honesty don’t ever comment on videos, but this is the BEST lasagna. So so good. It’s a tad bit sweet due to the sweet Italian sausage. I think it was very nice, but I’m going to try mild or spicy sausage next time just to see the difference. Regardless, it’s amazing. Definitely recommend.
If you look down on the comments, I'm almost certain that I've commented multiple times on this video, but I can't help it!! 😂 it's so amazing, it needs its recognition!! 😁

Happy holidays!
I have learned a trick spraying the foil. Thank you. I love your recipes
I've always made lasagna with bechamel sauce. I want to make this version with the ricotta, one has go to experiment sometimes! Looks delicious!
There is a greek version of lasagna called pastichio. The top layer is a bechemal sauce. It's very good but I like ricotta cheese better in this case.
I’ve been wanting to try the recipe with the sauce versus the ricotta. My hubs loves my lasagna but I have to lie and yell him it’s cottage cheese! I’m sure he’d love the sauce tho!
I just love your all recipes and thanks for written description it's very helpful ♥️to make everything easyly
Thank you for the recipe. I made it today and it was a hit! So delicious and easy to follow your steps. Thank you!
Glad you liked it!!
I'm going to do this dish..but with Eggplant!! What an amazing recipe!🥰💖💖💖

I love all your recipes. I love your idea of replacing the bachamel with recotta. Perfect presentation.
I tried making your lasagne recipe and MAN it was so GOOD! This was my first time making lasagne also. 🙂
I’ve made this and it is absolutely incredible. The homemade sauce is a game changer. Oh, and the fennel is the X-Factor.
Super happy you liked it!
Winning lasagna recipe. Ty for showing how to make it and sharing your recipe!
I followed your recipe and I have to say it’s sooo DELICIOUS!!! Everyone love it!!
Thank you sweetie!!
Happy you gave it a try (:
Did you use the wine??
I am using your recipe (quadrupled😅) to serve at Thanksgiving for my family.
The pan is so big I'm using a step stool to properly stir.🤣😂🤣😂
You've definitely made the recipe easy to follow.
Thank you so much. 🥰🤗❤️
This is similar to one I have and tastes amazing. I dont boil my pasta either but I cover with extremely hot water.
Something I like to do is stick 6-10 toothpicks in my lasagna so the foils sits on top of them. This helps to make sure the precious cheese won't touch and stick to it. Just remember to remove the toothpicks.
Excellent recipe! Thank you for sharing!!
Your tutorial is so perfect. You explain everything so well without all of the extra chit chat! Thanks👍✨💖
Thank you so much!
You are amazing! And a beautiful soul. Love your recipes. God bless ❤
I made this recipe and it turned out to be one of the easiest and best lasagna I’ve had. Only thing I did different was I boiled the noodles first. But still one of the best lasagnas.
Always switch how you palce the noodles. First layer side to side, next layer top to bottom, etc...,It builds structure.
Made it tonight and we are so full. Very delicious
Glad you liked it
Made this today, added mushrooms to the meat sauce, it is amazing, try it, you'll love this recipe 👍
Wow! I can’t wait to try this recipe. Can I substitute the pork Italian sausage with turkey Italian sausages? ( I don’t like pork )
emilyandellie0610 Yes
Or you can even just use ground beef only
I honesty don’t ever comment on videos, but this is the BEST lasagna. So so good. It’s a tad bit sweet due to the sweet Italian sausage. I think it was very nice, but I’m going to try mild or spicy sausage next time just to see the difference. Regardless, it’s amazing. Definitely recommend.
Glad you liked it!! Let me know when you give it a try with mild or spicy sausage (:
Thank You for This Recipe Trying It for This Christmas Holiday I will let you Know how it Comes Out Thanks
