I really like the antique stain method. Thank you so much for going over all three methods and helping me see the three next to each other. Great work and forethought.
Thank you for great demonstration.❤ All methods are very useful, depending on what kind of wood we are using them. For unpainted wood, sending method is the best and gets the most original effect.❤
I knew several methods for aging wood/paint, but wanted to make the entire sign (lettering and all) look old. The sanding method is just what I was looking for, and I'm a little embarrassed I didn't think of it myself. Thank you for posting!
Thank you for this!!! I just slapped on white paint to an ugly oak table I had and didn't think about staining! I will try the antique/stain method to finish it up. Thanks a bunch!
Thank you for this concise and informative tutorial. My preference is for either the sanded or stained sign. Those ones look the most authentically aged to me.
I am totally clueless as what items were used. And I would like to use this video as guidance for my first piece. Could you please share was paints you used or perhaps link them down below. I would love to purchase them and work on this during our quarantine. Thanks so much and God Bless! :)
Hi, I'm curious if you used an oil-based stain for the third method. I like this method but I'm not sure if I have to purchase water-based or oil-based. Thank you so much. :)
I am wondering about the white paint that you used. Is it white stain? or white paint for wood? I hope to get an answer to my question form you guys. thanks.
Great video, thank you! I love the sanding method and had a couple questions for you. Have you ever tried it with a base and top coat of stain instead of paint? or one of each? Like stain base coat and paint top coat, or vice versa? I imagine it probably creates a different effect. Thanks!
We don't get the second method. You dip it in black paint? Straight black paint or black paint mixed with water? That black didn't look that black when you brushed it on. Thanks.
You you straight black paint. I usually let my white paint dry first, then dip my brush into the black paint and take most of the excess paint off the brush with a nearby Kraft paper and then dry paint it. In her case I still would do the same with the black paint. Because her method with white paint still wet it’s less chance of putting on too much black, because it mixes with the white to make a greyish weathered distressed look.
This is great if the signs were white, but how do you make a... say, dark gray sign look rustic? What would the base colour be before painting it dark gray? Thanks.
This is gonna sound rediculous but I do this to ice lolly sticks 🤣 I do little fairy doors, door signs or wall hangings. The second or third method works best as I'd need to use a nail file to sand on such a small scale. These are comparisons thank you ☺️
I really like the antique stain method.
Thank you so much for going over all three methods and helping me see the three next to each other. Great work and forethought.
Antique Stain is my favorite ..... thanks for a video showing 3 techniques and side by side comparison.
