Wow. I'm soooo glad I found you. 63 yo dude, just retired in July, and am doing pallet wood/stencils/signs/whatever crafts. Your tutorials are awesome for me, so thank you!
Wow, accidentally came upon your video (videos) and as a special effects guy in the movie industry, you have given me fantastic ideas for future projects!
This is a fabulous "breakthrough" for distressing wood furniture without having to spend a lot on the crackle medium and this works just as well. Thank you for an awesome tip and I can't wait to try it! .
I crackled a picture frame along time ago using the crackle liquid. It turned out nice. I'm amazed you can age wood so fast using this process. The sign turned out awesome. Have a blessed day.
Wow! Turned out amazing! A lot less messy than the glue crackle method. Think I want to try this on a small piece of furniture. Thank you for a great tutorial.
What a great, daring imagination you have! If you had used the various paints, crackle solutions, misting bottle and special brush, I bet making that new piece of wood look old would have cost $50 minimum. Thank so much for this money saving technique. ❤️👏😘
Love this!!! I see old delapatated barns or frame houses & say I love that old wood! Wish I had it. Now I can!!! Thank you so much for sharing this simple yet beautiful technique!!
Omg this is going to be the perfect background for our marriage license! Wow! 21 years ago when we got married, I made copies of our marriage license and took one of them and aged it. And it came out just beautiful but I never did anything with it. Lol And in my husband’s top drawer it sits. And you just gave me the best idea for it! Thank You! I’ve literally been waiting 21 years for this!!! Lol
Well, all I can say is WOW, I really like that technique. I have just about watched all of your videos, and to me, this one is the best technique. It may take a lot of steps and time, but the end result in my eyes just really looked like a weathered piece of wood!!! Thank you, for the time spent in creating it!!!
Love this technique. I have used wood glue for the crackle look but last several years they've reformulated it so it doesn't crackle well now. I will definitely try this
I love it! Hairspray is genuis! Back in the day I used a store bought product, I believe it was "Crackle". And also found white glue mixed with water worked well.
i am seeing so many try this and it's working. I watched this video many times, even watched while I was doing mine and it never worked. I did everything the same as you did. I used a aerolsol hairspray. I also tried with heat gun.
Hi Deirdre, I am trying this right now with Spring colors on a smaller piece of wood. Just applied my 2nd color. Drying now. Going to try one more color. Cant wait for the results. 😁❤😁
This looks so authentic! I know how much people with shops will charge for a finished product like this. You always come up with really cool ideas for antique finishes, I can't wait to try it! Thanks for sharing😊
Wow. I was wondering what all those colors like the black, yellow and terracotta were going to do. After seeing the crackle effect and fading effect, I see it was to make it look like old wood exposed from the paint. What a great technique 👌
Looks cool, and to make the wood look old I use a piece of chain to whip it with and the Cain will but small dents and it looks cool, bicycle lock would work also, another thing is to place your wood on the driveway with some bolts or anything under it and stand on it which will make some dents or stuffs in it ✌️
I can’t wait to try this technique! Your ideas and tips amaze me! Quick question! Do you seal the finished project to prevent further paint being accidentally wiped off during cleaning? Thanks!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Amazing process !! Thank you for sharing !!! I am going to build a breakfast nook in my dining room using 100year old barnwood built with 2x4 base, cover with barnwood . I want to do this process on the barnwood how would you seal it so when people sit it it wont rub off???
I followed the instructions exactly, black base coat let dry, accent coats let dry, hairspray let dry, acrylic house paint top coat, let dry - no cracks at all.... guess I will have to try again with craft store paint ONLY. Not giving up, but not there yet. Thanks for the info.

Would this work on glass jars do you think? Have you tried this technique with chalk paint?
Hi... I wonder if can I use this technique to paint the frame of a chair???? What colors would you use as a base???? Thanks!!!
Hairspray is flammable. So wouldn’t that be a fire hazard and also against a city code violation? It becomes flammable?
OMG DONT DO WHAT SHE DID SHE RUINED IT!¡
Wow. I'm soooo glad I found you. 63 yo dude, just retired in July, and am doing pallet wood/stencils/signs/whatever crafts. Your tutorials are awesome for me, so thank you!
That is awesome!
I used that much aqua net in the 80's every morning before school 😂
We all used a lot of that lol
@@OurUpcycledLife In the house I grew up in, the bathroom door opposite the mirror was shellacked with a quarter-inch of Aqua Net hairspray!
I literally made the weirdest sound when I saw that crackle!! How do you come up with these techniques girl!!!
Haha!! Sammie my brain works in wild ways….🤪❤️

Amazing process !! Thank you for sharing !!! I am going to build a breakfast nook in my dining room using 100year old barnwood built with 2x4 base, cover with barnwood . I want to do this process on the barnwood how would you seal it so when people sit it it wont rub off???
Poly acrylic sealer
I followed the instructions exactly, black base coat let dry, accent coats let dry, hairspray let dry, acrylic house paint top coat, let dry - no cracks at all.... guess I will have to try again with craft store paint ONLY. Not giving up, but not there yet. Thanks for the info.
Make sure you put a good thick coat of hairspray on it. Keep trying!!
@@OurUpcycledLife I sprayed it really thick. It didn't crackle at all. I will keep experimenting...thanks...
Paint over the hairspray wet. It cracks the paint from while drying. If it cured, it with just act like an adhesion promoter.
@@tylersblue
Have you applied the acrylic paint over the wet hairspray creating the crackle effect? I’m just asking since I have yet to try this.
Brilliant video thanks for sharing your amazing talent
Many thanks

I have got to agree with the others, I’ve yet to get this type of crackle to work. Tried several times!!!
It can be tricky, but with practice you can get it to crackle really well
I love this, thank you so much! What did you use to seal the sign after lettering - or do you leave it as is? Thanks!
Hi there I seal it with poly acrylic sealer water-based thanks for watching
How did it hold up over time? I love the technique
