I am so happy to have found you! I have been putting off doing a a wooden tool box and a dresser. The thought had overwhelmed me! I now feel confident! Thank you!
I have been watching UA-cam for 2 days trying to find someone with a good paint effects that don’t jump around. Most you can’t follow but your was the best!! Thank you so much I will be watching your other videos!! Thank you
Have to say it again. You are so good at telling how to do things. It is so clear. Thank you for this video. I want to try this myself. You are one of the ladies I watch regularly. You are one of my favorites. Have a great day!
I love the idea of using a scraper to create a weathered wood look. It makes sense because natural weathering would wear away paint from the raised surfaces.
I really like this technique because the effect is fabulous. I had never seen the paint scraper thing before -- like the results. Very cool. Oh yes....the dogs playing in the background. Loved it. Our cat photo-bombs every project picture we take. LOL
I ❤ what you shared. I haven't even tried it yet, but I'm obsessed already. I'm gonna want redo everything... Lol. ❤ your channel. You always have good luck finding things. Your awesome!!
How beautiful! I love that piece of black wood in the beginning. You should the grayish weathered looking piece of wood that you used down the table. Can you tell me what base you used first before painting and scraping white over it? I want to do my night stands like that.
The puppies are adorable. So are you! The paintings techniques are great I’m always up to learn new things. Yours was so inspiring I’m going to try crackle next. I’ll probably distress all my wood supply. Lol. Love your channel and ideas
They are such stinkers lately, running around the house like crazy people all day long I don't know what has gotten into them but it is funny to watch.
Loved it! Both of these tips are great! I’m going to try the first one for sure! Never thought of using a scraper! The ja you so much for sharing with us!
Love, love, love it! I used to use Hyde glue but Elmer's glue is a lot cheaper alternative. I've been out of crafting for over twenty - two yrs and as a retired old fart, lol, I'm ready to get back in it. Thank you so much for the inspiration. I appreciate you and your techniques. Hugs, Billie
I've always struggled with the crackle finish, but I've never tried to rub my finger over the spots that didn't take as much while the paint is still tacky and scratch with my finger nail! GREAT advice! And....that container looked so cute with the plant in it!!! :)
Yur a busy lady;)...I LOVE LOVE your videos! We are always broke...I need to just make a list and get busy and fet some start up things to start with doing my numerous ideas I want to do
I made an awesome distressed picture frame for my friend's birthday using a plain inexpensive picture frame. This video was amazing! I thought I would have to purchase the crackle paint to get this effect. Who knew, Elmer's glue would create a great antiqued look.
I love the Elmer's glue trick But have you ever done it on a large piece of furniture and if so does it hold up over the test of time? Also could you use chalk paint using that technique? Thanks SO much for sharing!!!🥰🥰🥰👍
Also if you brush your glue in all different directions your cracks will crack in all different directions! That's a lot of fun too. And also you do NOT let the glue dry before you put on your top coat of paint. It crackles as the glue finishes it's drying process. You need to wait until the glue is tacky and then apply your top color coat. As the glue finishes drying it pulls the top coat of paint apart as it dries. If the glue is already completely dry there isn't anything going to happen to cause the paint to crackle! I've seen several people show this technique on UA-cam and say to let the glue dry too and then they had to use their fingers to make the top coat crackle or sand it to see the bottom coat! I've got a piece I did a few weeks ago that has huge cracks in it and I didn't touch it! I used a dark brown and a very light taupe. It's gorgeous! It's 5 1x4 6' boards glued together. I'm making a headboard out of it.
Quick question..... with the crackle, do you put a top coat on? I want to do my dresser like that but I’m worried that it will chip off if one of my kids hits! So I’m just wondering if I were to put a top coat on, will it ruin the effect?
Thanks for such awesome tips! I will be trying them in the next couple of weeks and will show you...if they turn out nice like yours, heehee! Hugs, sweet lady!
Robin, as always; I LOVE this! I was waiting for this tutorial. I have an old sewing table (inspired by the Infamous Robin Johnson!😝) I am going to do your scraping technique on it! Thank You and God Bless You and Your Family!
LOL, well sorry it took so long, this month has just flown by for me can't believe it is almost March already. I bet your project is going to turn out amazing!
I have got to try the scraper technique! It's so simple and seriously effective! I didnt know that paint would crackle AFTER the glue has completely dried....That hasnt worked for me but maybe it failed because I used chalk paint? I've always applied the glue, let it rest until tacky and then applied a layer of paint over the glue and used my blow drier to speed up the crackle process. I am going to experiment with acrylic paints and allowing the glue to dry before the second coat. BTW darlin, your crackle process is NOT incorrect, as the comment below mine suggests...using your finger, peeling away at the paint before or after its dry or any other tactic that you have tried and tested and most importantly, if YOU'RE pleased with the final result, you have yourself a personal preference, nothing more . I have added my own personal touch to my projects after watching tutorials that worked for many others but failed to satisfy my tasteMy decision to change an element was successful and from what I saw here,so was yours!I think that you made a good choice to share your way to achieve crackle because you have proven that I should have experimented much more with my own crackle process beforehand .I wanted the tiny cracks and the slight crackle that was achieved here. I use my fingers as a tool, too. Saying your process is incorrect is incorrect lmao! There is no definitive way to crackle. If anything, using crackle medium would be more correct than glue BUT only YOU know what your idea of correct is and I am thankful for your tutorial, I have actually learned something!Thanx for the tips! I am excited to play around and make a mess!
I just found your channel 🤗🎉 I'm in the process of transitioning my home decor to farmhouse. Almost all of my picture frames are black. I didn't want to have to buy all new ones. I've been trying to figure out the best way to distress them. I'm definitely going to use the scraper method you shared 👍 thank you!
Wow these look great. I’ve never seen the paint scraping technique anywhere 😃 It’s amazing. I’m going to definitely try it. Thank you for the video. I’m going to subscribe to your channel now
I was wondering if the black paint you used was the same on both projects? I really enjoyed the video. Thanks, just what I was looking for to finish a shelf my husband made for the hall bath.
Jouse Gonzalez I think you could use a sealer. Minwax has a water based protective coat which I live to use plus you can get it in a spray can version which is what I would use on this project.
Hey Robin, I love your Chanel, can you please tell me what is the name of the tool that you used to scrap? is it a normal scraper? Is there any shape like: ~~~~~~ on the scraper's bottom ? Thanks for your time
WOW this is the best tutorial I have ever been able to find on these techniques. 👏 Can't wait to try them out, THANK YOU
This is a perfect paint trick for a new guitar I'm building. Thank you.
I am so happy to have found you! I have been putting off doing a a wooden tool box and a dresser. The thought had overwhelmed me! I now feel confident! Thank you!

We are adding beadboard to our daughter's bedroom and your scraping technique looks perfect and easy! Thanks.
Great tutorial but those little fur babies stole my heart!

I wish I saw your video before I made my project. That is so easy!
Excellent, exactly what I was looking for. Clever Girls!!
Love the Elmer's glue demo. Def trying that!
I love the idea of using a scraper to create a weathered wood look. It makes sense because natural weathering would wear away paint from the raised surfaces.
Awesome. This is a quick method for the old look compared to many I've seen with a much better outcome. Thanks
I really like this technique because the effect is fabulous. I had never seen the paint scraper thing before -- like the results. Very cool. Oh yes....the dogs playing in the background. Loved it. Our cat photo-bombs every project picture we take. LOL

Oh you have no idea. I want to use it all the time but I tell myself to switch it up so. but the scraping is my favorite of all time paint techniques.
Honestly, I missed the first 30 seconds of this video because I was watching the dogs have fun on the right, I was cracking up.

Hi great video and love the techniques. Can you tell me what kind of glue Elmers is? I'm in England and we don't have it...
Super intéressante comme technique, merci beaucoup !!!
Love this. Does the crackle only work with acrylic paint?
I've always struggled with the crackle finish, but I've never tried to rub my finger over the spots that didn't take as much while the paint is still tacky and scratch with my finger nail! GREAT advice! And....that container looked so cute with the plant in it!!! :)

I was thinking the glue should be tacky too ... I'm going to take your suggestion. ..the headboard sounds amazing!
@@rhondamiles3625 thanks for trying it. I didn't wanna sound like a know it all or a bitch, but . .. lol
Hi Dede, I really appreciate your added 'input'. Will definitely try when the glue is still tacky; thanks for your comment. :)
Robin, do you put a clear coat on the finished item or do you use wax?
Love this!! Thank you..you make it look so simple..😁

Hi Robin, just found this. I love these techniques. Will definitely try. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice. I will try. thank you.
Hi. Could these paints be used on plastic wood grain effect garden storage boxes?
You have such great taste...thank you for sharing!!
Wonderful!

I'm in the process of transitioning my home decor to farmhouse. Almost all of my picture frames are black. I didn't want to have to buy all new ones. I've been trying to figure out the best way to distress them. I'm definitely going to use the scraper method you shared 👍 thank you!
The 2nd technique is the one I've been looking for, so thank you! Do u know if this works on metal pieces too?
Awesome!

I believe it was yes.
Awesome video!!
Would you use a sealer? If so what kind? Would this work with latex paint?
Jouse Gonzalez I think you could use a sealer. Minwax has a water based protective coat which I live to use plus you can get it in a spray can version which is what I would use on this project.
Can't wait to try these!
So you have to use chalk paint for this type of distressed look or regular paint would do?
Thank you. I will try this technique for my office
I love this technique thankyou for sharing, new subby
I guess I’ve lost my mind, never saw the pups, great video though. Great teaching video. Can’t
Wait to try the technique. Thanks for the video.
I didn't see the pups either!! I was too mesmerized by her technique!!

So happy to hear it. Have a great day,
Your vid just came up in my feed and I’m glad it did! Those r awesome techniques! I can’t wait to give’m a try! New subbie! Tfs!!
Can I use dark brown for base coat?
Wow this is awesome !! Thank you !
I always thought you need to add a quick drying paint over a slower drying paint whilst still tacky to get the crackle effect?
I like both methods but really want to try the scraping method on a project!
It is definitely a fun technique to work with, happy painting.
Loved it! Just subscribed 👍😁
Hey Robin,
I love your Chanel, can you please tell me what is the name of the tool that you used to scrap? is it a normal scraper? Is there any shape like: ~~~~~~ on the scraper's bottom ? Thanks for your time
I've seen the crackling done when the glue is still tacky have you enjoy tried that math and if you have which one is best
You make it look so easy!🌺🌺🌺✌️
Great, informative video.
