    Great idea. I'm new to this technique. I've been watching videos about it. The last video that I watched said to use a dark spray paint for the base coat. then use my topcoat. After that sand. I like the idea of using stain because it lowers the risk of over sanding to practically none. Thanks.

      Hi! Since you have a dark table, yes, the first step is already complete for you! But if it has a smooth protective finish on it, you may want to lightly sand it to ensure your paint will apply properly. Thanks for watching!

      @JohnDolechek  3 роки тому

      If you don’t apply anything before the paint, then when you sand the white paint off you’ll see only the natural wood color underneath. I use the dark stain beforehand so there’s a contrast between the white paint and dark stain. Thanks for watching!

    Any one know if the white will yellow over time? (from the pine wood)

    • @JohnDolechek
      @JohnDolechek  2 роки тому

      Paint won’t yellow over time since it’s applied on top of the wood. This typically only happens to unfinished woods, especially pine. Thanks for watching!

    • @uwishpal
      @uwishpal 8 місяців тому

      I realize this is a pretty old comment section, but I figured I would put my two cents in. It won’t yellow, but it will somewhat brown. There is no sealer coat over it all so by sanding paint down you break that hardened seal that has dried on-top and that expose pores that will grab dirt and oils. I recommend sealing it with some kind of topcoat.
