You've no idea how annoying it is to watch the great weather you've been having in beautiful Scotland while I'm in the misty murky weather I've had in Portugal. 😠 Never mind I'm always loving van life whatever the weather 🌦 🌧 🌞
Thanks for the comment😀. It feels kind of strange to us that two out of our last three camping trips have been in great weather! It’s like the twilight zone or something😀. But as you say, being in the van makes it all okay no matter what. Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
Thanks Pam😀. There has been work going on in the field next to where the van is stored, so I think that was the cause. The garage said it was pretty common😃. Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
we had the same issue with our old caravan absolute nightmare, we did get them with Traps but what a mess they left the caravan in. great weather at present. Maybe you could patent the mesh idea 💡💡💡
Hi Kurt😀. Yeah it seems extraordinary that there is not already some kind of filter/mesh fitted. In the two years between services there must be leaves and all kind of crap end up down there. I think I’ll do some calcs and see if a suitable mesh could go in permanently. Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
Thanks Ruth😁. I was surprised how cheap it is to get a couple of badges stuck on. And they gave us spares as well. Your comment is genius😃 Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
I use Fresh Cab to discourage mice. I had a problem with mice eating through my windshield wiper lines in my car that's kept in the garage. I use them in my little class c rv that is parked outside all the time. So far so good. Smells like Christmas. I closed up as many oversized holes I could find with Great Stuff Pestblock spray foam and steel wool. For some reason rv mfgs cut a 2 inch hole for a half inch PEX water line. I put in a bit of foam around the edge them smash in some steel wool, then finish with another layer of Great Stuff foam, like a sandwich. If I'm camping in a forest or open field, I put a light on the ground under my engine cab. I use an inflatable solar Luci light I keep on the dash while driving so it stays charged. What kind of outdoor 'BBQ' did you use?
Hi Pam😀. I’d never hard of Fresh cab, but I’ve just looked it up👌. I saw someone who put some scented fluid in their washer bottle (just for the scent, not to deter mice). The mice loved it and chewed through the cap to get at it😀. I like the foam/wool idea as well. I did look at steel wool but the only stuff I could get locally was really fine stuff, but I’ll look again I think. The BBQ is a Cadac (compact 30 I think it’s called). It’s the one that uses the disposable gas canisters that are used in click stoves. Comes with a grill plate and a flat plate, like most Cadacs I think. We bought the Cadac Paella pan with a lid separately (didn’t use it in the video), and have found that to be really useful as an all rounder. Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
I can tell you the steel wool options that didn’t work for me. First I tried a steel wool scrubber I had in the kitchen, the kind that looks coiled up. It was too bulky. Then I tried a Brillo pad, the kind that comes with soap in it. The fibers were too short and it kinda disintegrated as I cut off a piece. This is what worked, a fine version that you use for furniture refinishing. That pulled off in nice long fibers that was easy to stuff in cracks and crevices. I think it might have been grade 0000 but the label was gone off the packaging. I think they make a version for rats/mice, you can search steel wool for mice. But I used what was at hand. Thanks for the grill name, off to do some shopping online to see if I can find it. I don’t need a big honking grill for just me, this size looks perfect. Thanks!
Thank Pam😀 I think it was grade 00 I saw. I just seemed to remember many years ago using a much rougher grade at work, more like Brillo pads as you say. Cheers, Brian and Rhona.

Hope the mouse situation is under control! Love the Highland Coo's that's a brilliant idea. Always enjoy your video's. Take car
