- While we are in the quiet part of our camper van winter Spanish long stay, we thought we would try and include a little about the lifestyle, the cost and the equipment we tried out back in Scotland in each video.

Great to see Spain again. Before Brexit I would be there now, but I used up my 90 (Schengen) days before Christmas so will have to wait until April before i go again. I'm so sad, but watching you guys cheers me up no end! 😂

It's horses for courses I suppose😀. Benidorm is a lot more peaceful in the Winter and we have sometimes spent a few days there as part of a trip (as a lot of people do). However these smaller towns seem to cater more for Spanish people (certainly English is often much less widely spoken), and I think it helps us immerse ourselves more into Spanish culture and language😀. Although we seem to learn a bit more Spanish every year, and then have to start from scratch the next year😀

Enjoying your videos, we stayed just up the road in Nules a couple of times on the free site behing the restaurant and used to cycle into Moncofa for the supermarket. Weather looks great. We are fellow scots now settled in southern Spain. Enjoy

Good to see how you settle in on a site and the food that you prepare looks so good. We’ve booked a one way crossing to Santander but have no fixed plans yet as to which direction we go in……could be interesting 😂. Thank you for inspiring us to give it a go 🙂

You know the first time we did that crossing was on a motorbike with no plan. I remember sitting on the ferry trying to figure out where to go. We eventually bottled it, drove across the top of Spain, Biarritz, across France and into Germany etc which we were more
familiar with😀. We had a great time😀. Next time we pushed down into Southern Spain and thought what have we done!
Honestly, the more dry and arid conditions freaked us out a bit when we were driving down.
Within a day we thought this is amazing😀. Love it now😀.
I think no matter what route you take, at least your mobile😀

Thing is I think it's like an act of will to eat a salad in Northern climes (for us anyway)😀. We used to think the people who live on the North Mediterranean coast must be really health conscious to eat a Mediterranean diet😀. But of course you really just sort of fall into it. We eat way better here than we do at home😀

I ran a bar in benadorm for many years... unfortunately I had to return to the UK because of health issues.
I would advise people who are thinking about staying in Spain to check exactly what Thier insurance contains regarding health care..
I Have witnessed people being left on the streets because of no health insurance cover.
Anyway folks enjoy your stay in Spain...you will find the Spanish people are the very friendly .and helpful .

Yeah, I think we'll revisit some of the van stuff as we go. I think one of the most important things is a 12v tyre inflator (which will cope with the higher pressures camper/motorhome tyres are often designed to go up to). The temperature variations travelling UK to Europe are huge, so I'm probably checking pressures a few times on a typical trip. Also many garage forecourt air machines don't go up to these pressures.

Hi guys, You've inspired us to look at travelling by ferry to Santander and return via the euro tunnel, but having priced up both it looks cheaper to travel via euro tunnel then drive to Spain. Not travelled or driven that far yet so will need to aadd that cost to see the difference.

The route we've often considered (as a sort of compromise) is Portsmouth/St Malo. The ferry is cheaper but you only have to drive down France rather than across it. Never done it though.

Should also say ..time of year makes a big difference. We would sometimes convince ourselves that we would treat the drive through France as part of the trip. Then we would remember it's January everywhere😀
A great video, we drive down to Marbella, set SatNav to toll free, and no motorways, we see so much more and £0 in tolls, and then wide camp to no campsite fee's, cheap as chips😂

We just use the toll roads because it lets us keep the speed up really😀. For us it's North to South as fast as possible. We've seen most of Spain over the years so it's really about set cruise control to 75mph and blast it 😀

Thanks for the info, but as we have never travelled by ferry I was wondering about the price differences between early bird, flexi etc! Planning for end of March early April but also need to book aires and campsites that we will stay at. France was relitavely easy to stay somewhere without booking in advance but Spain I know is a bit crowded with M/H at this time of year.

We book early bird. We book it in July for the next January. Although there is no refund if you cancel (as far as I remember), you can change the dates for a fee (£25 the last time we did it I think). The St Malo ferry is easier to book of course (more crossings). Yeah the planning can do your head in a bit😀. Especially finding stops that give you sensible driving days.

We're at Camping Monmar in Moncofa. It's great😀 We used to keep meeting people who came for a night or two and stayed weeks😀
