As soon as I saw S10 and EGR I knew it was carbon blockage in the EGR. Was VERY common with the 4.3 and the 2.2 to the point that there were gaskets made (kleen screen was a brand name of that time) with stainless screen in the to keep the carbon out. Dorman 47007 looks like the current available ones.
EGR system is odd i installed a used 3.7 jeep engine didn't notice until i had the engine installed that the boss was there for the EGR but the head wasn't drilled i looked at drilling but backed out the bolt holes were drilled but the passages werent drilled in the replacement engine. I simply bolted the egr on the head hooked up the connectors and hose has never thrown a code anything related to egr really surprised me

I was told about this but I couldn't find them at the time of the video.
I've used them along with a chunk of cable in a drill run through the passages. Think I still have some hanging on the wall as well.

I am really surprised it never set a code either.
We don’t see those s 10’s around anymore they all rotted out around here
