I always tune into Chris for his opinion on a new firearm. As a new shooter I'm always impressed by his accuracy at such long distance with a pistol. I do wish you would state the target size though. Hitting a 12 inch steel target at 100 yards is a little harder than say a 24" one.
Gaining accuracy with a pistol is simple: shoot a lot, consistently and seriously. If you shoot 200 rounds a week, you will improve remarkably in a fairly short time. That's it, you will be amazed at how much you improve.

I just handled one at a gun shop. Loved the trigger!! And this is coming from a person picking up another CZ P10-F. Also to mention, I was impressed at how smooth the slide was to rack..The one I tried felt like the slide groove had roller bearings incorporated. The optics cut is better than all I know of so far. @@yakbutter78 I know the feeling... I was picking up my third P10-F at the time. But the P10-F has dropped in price and is a proven piece. This thing is a game changer!!!! Picked mine up the other day and to think I was going to wait on it. It feels just right in the hands. I feel the same about the looks, a cross between a Glock and PDP. Great review
Hello Chris... I have seen 4 other reviews and they all enjoyed this gun. I was waiting for you to do a review on this gun before I bought it. Thank you!!!!
Say what you want about Springfield, but they really do make some of the most solid handguns in the industry. They may not always have the best triggers, but you can throw those things in the worst mud imaginable and they will pick right back up and dump a mag with zero issue. Out of all of my handguns (S&W, Glock, CZ, Beretta, Walther, SIG, Springfield), my Springfield is the one single handgun I would take with me into the apocalypse.
@@jammerlr7780 You must be new to reading, nothing in my message even remotely implies there is anything wrong with doing that. All I said is that the only good Springfield guns were not made by Springfield.
I stood in a long line at my local range yesterday to fire 10 free rounds through this tool. I'm by no means an accomplished handgun operator because I enjoy shooting rifles far more. With that disclaimer, this gun felt great in my long, bony hand and the trigger was by far the lightest I had ever experienced on a striker fired handgun. It grouped well at 10 yds considering I was unfamiliar with it, we were employing cheap range ammo, and my tired old eyes do not allow consistency even if the rest of my body did. I thoroughly enjoyed my short time with it and am seriously considering trying one as an owner.
My last three have been because of your reviews. Appreciate you helping me make solid investments and supporting those in need (kids & animals). You're a good man Charlie Brown.
I've had mine for a few months now. Got a comp and the new fde frame with a holosun. Best feeling pistol I shoot. Absolutely love it. And this review sold me on it.
Mrs. Outlaw does a great job on the camera no matter the conditions outside. She also did some Fine shooting in this video and so did Mr Outlaw. Excellent shooting pistol. I'd like to see one with a longer barrel 5 inch .
Thanks for being the best and most honest gun reviewer on UA-cam. I have watched many other “reviews” on the echelon.. they all sound like they’re reading cue cards from Springfield.
You’re a damn beast with a firearm. You make any gun 1000% better than what it is in my hand. Never thought I would buy another Springfield, have to say I will checking this one out
Looks like Springfield/HS Produkt really nailed this one. And they didn't even call it Hellspawn, or Hellhound, or Hell-O'kitty. I have been planning to get a Hellcat Pro but the Echelon makes me think I should wait. When the FDE compact model comes out...
Hell-O'kitty sounds like a Springfield and Mrs Outlaw collaboration. Engrave a Hellcat style emblem in the grip with a flower around the eye like those distinctive, yeah lets go with distinctive glasses she sometimes wears in vids.
Your channel is the one I watch; especially if I want to buy a particular gun. I've made some purchases as a result of watching your channel. FREEDOM ON !!!
I'm genuinely excited for this lol. Just waiting on a compact with sub, compact, and full grip that fits a compact slide. Sounds like with the right configuration it's gonna be an amazing carry gun. Particularly with how little it looks like it recoils.
Lol you can definitely tell it’s a bit of a awkward moment when you’re praising Springfield and not so much for the Smith. But…. It shows your honesty and unbiased opinion. Two thumbs up!
This gun is just a sample of everything thats worked out for other companies and put together... copy all the homework but make it your own so they re-used the hellcat grip mod.. i give props on the optic mounting system tho
Wonder what would come out of the soup if a Glock 17, Walther PDP, Canik Mete, Sig P320 and H&K VP9 all got together and had an honest conversation with each other? Pretty cool someone came out with a system that was truly optics ready.
@@gutWrench9mm Yeah, you're right. Add Beretta to the meeting attendees. Guess my point is that I'm totally pumped how much gun anyone can get for so little money. Best way for the 2A to stick around is for more people to be able to afford to exercise the right. I still totally love 1911s and I can see spending a bunch for one just because they're super cool but I'm kind of enjoying all the competition for polymer 9mms.
I normally ccw a glock19x but was shocked at how light the echelon felt compared to my 19x. All the slide milling really takes a ton of excess weight out of it and it points so quick on the draw due to ergonomics. Really Just needs a metal magwell and its perfect. Great design.
This gun really catches my eyes. If only talk about the look, it is so far my favorite pistol on the market. I'm not sure what the slide looks like but I think the frame is shockingly similar to P320's.
Definitely want to see a 1,000 round review. Most other channels are trying so hard to not give a 100% positive review because they are Glock or Sig sell outs. Knowing you also prefer the other brands yet give such a positive review of the Echelon shows you are willing to be unbiased and give a solid review!
Love my Hellcat pro. For me it’s the perfect size to capacity ratio for concealed carry. I’m interested in the Echelon also, but I’m not sure if I need another polymer pistol in my collection.
This is the one I have been waiting for. Seen TFB, Colion Noir, and TGC. All good but to get the full stamp of approval, I need to hear from the Outlaw.... Thank you Outlaw!!!
I am so definitely getting one and Springfield had us left hand users in mind thank you Springfield I definitely hope they come out with a conceal carry version of this too
Would definitely like to see a comparison between this and the Walther PDP. I am especially curious about your thoughts on the Echelon trigger versus the PDP.
Whatever Mrs. Outlaw says, I’m in agreement. Sorry brother, but I’m sure you understand. Excellent review. I held one in a local gun shop today. I was impressed. The only thing I do not like is the recoil spring rod is polymer. Those things break. Not a deal breaker, but it did happen to me with a Beretta PX4 Storm one day. Thanks again!!
Springfield was fortunate to partner with HS Produkt just as the Croatian company is hitting its stride. The factory looks impressive. I’m interested to see where the HS product line goes from here.
From what I've heard their next gun will most likely be a hammer fired, steel frame competition gun that is supposed to rival things like the Shadow 2. Springfield really wants to get into the growing competition market, especially since the Prodigy was kind of a failure.
@@meb212 Which is the best thing that ever happened to both companies. One gets good firearms it can sell thousands of every month, and the other gets access to the biggest gun market in the world. Symbiosis like no other.

It does look like a Glock and a P Walther PDP had a baby. Springfield the red head stepchild of the gun world never cease to amaze me. I love the XDM series and the Hellcat Pro and now this one looks like I will like it as well.
As a lefty shooter, I would love to see a comparison video of this vs the VP9. I have a vp9 but im heavily considering selling it and getting the echelon. The optic mounting system and the grip texture are really winning me over.
Imo the ergonomics on this gun are second only to the VP9. That's for my hands, your mileage may vary. But when I saw everything this gun was offering and watched the reviews from TFB, TGC, and Colion Noir, I just had to get my hands on it. My local gun shop got a call at 9 AM Wednesday morning and I asked about it, they hadn't even heard of it yet. So I got my name at the top of the list and they didn't have it there for more than 2 hours before I was walking out the door with it.
It’s the real deal. Absolutely knocked it out of the park. The is incredible with all the tangibles. The trigger reset is nice. This explains why I got a steal on my XDM elite 1 month ago. Checked your video to see if you found anything you didn’t like. I couldn’t find anything.
For comparison, I'd say this versus a P-10F. The crazy low CZ P10 prices lately combined with their excellent quality outclass everything else striker fired in my opinion.
@@libertyguardian7662 it bugs me a little too, I get it haha. My P-10C OR has close to 1000 flawless rounds through it though and I got it for $350. It fits my hand better than any handgun I've handled, only my P-01 and SP-01 match it. Just a steal.
@@frankreynolds9936 Yeah, can’t go wrong with CZ. I’ve owned a lot of their guns over the years. P01 and P07 are also great choices. This Echelon is looking pretty good. Might have to try one. I love my Hellcat Pro. It’s been my EDC for a while now.
The *one* feature I was wanting more information on but hardly any reviewers have shown is the optic mount system. The removable pins sound interesting but I'm curious how durable they will be. Also wonder if the additional holes in the slide create any weaknesses. I really wish optic manufacturers could just decide on a standard pattern (or even two - full size and micro) that all of them would use. It would make it easier for consumers as well as get rid of the need for plates.
This is the kind of review I like. This is a weapon you bought off the shelf. I can use that to decide if I want to buy this weapon or not. Whenever the manufacturer sends you something, we cant know if they made it just a notch or two better than what one would buy off the shelf.
Very nice, glad to see that Springfield / HS product made something decent. I’ve been looking for a polymer gun with a grip angle and index similar to my Shadow 2, with the euro tang and grip, but without the weight. This looks close -how did it feel compare to a S2?

A dot would go on it, so sight radius makes no difference, and all my other guns are 4” barrels and they all are way more accurate than me, and that’s what I’d be looking for.
@@douglassalley9117 It will perform great just like the G19 vs. G17
As a fellow Iowan, I bought one of these instead of a lot of other great choices, in huge part due to what you've offered here on your channel. Cheers to both of you!
Hitting a Garage door at 100yds is hard for me so I’m easily impressed
Is he hitting 12 inchers when he's at 100 or is he going for silhouettes?
When he shoots at those ranges I'm pretty sure he's aiming for an IPSC target
Shoots well, tried it this morning at PSA
I can’t thank you enough for everything it is you do, and for your insightfully brutal honesty. You're my go to reviewer whenever something new comes out and you've educated me quite a lot. I look forward to whats next!
Definitely want a 1000 round review. Need to see a PDP comp!
Thanks Chris. This is truly the “golden age “ of firearms.
Yeah, never been a better time to be a gun-owner than a market with hardly anything but AR pattern rifles, carbines and PCCs and polymer, striker-fired Glock clones/variants
"Black plastic age"
I look forward to your 1000 rd review. You guys always have the best quality reviews.
I'll have to have one eventually.
If I hadn't already bought a P10F and dropped cash for an optics cut and a comp I'd definitely think hard about the echelon.
@@yakbutter78 I know the feeling... I was picking up my third P10-F at the time. But the P10-F has dropped in price and is a proven piece. The Springfields I've purchased in the past also dropped in price within two years afterwards. I'm hoping that I can make myself wait for this one to drop in price too.
@johnstipic1628 yeah I got my p10f for $329. Then of course sank a bunch of money to upgrade it, lol.
@@yakbutter78 I paid a good bit more a year and a half ago than my recent purchase. Now the P10-F OR SR has a retail price of $499.00. This one has suppressor height night sights and two 21 round magazines. Got love it when they are not the new kid on the block and they lower the prices.
I bought one today and will pick it up in a couple of days. Thank you for the review.
I appreciate how thorough, yet simple you describe/explain things.
Been waiting for your review before I drop the cash. You have sealed the deal.
This thing is a game changer!!!! Picked mine up the other day and to think I was going to wait on it. It feels just right in the hands. I feel the same about the looks, a cross between a Glock and PDP. Great review
With sig innards lol.
Bwahahahahaha😅🤣😅😆😁
A game changer?
Oh my. You need to get out more.
Springfield does not make any of the good guns, all Croatian made.
@@lucastonoli3256You must be new to this. LOTS of companies sell things with their name that they didnt make. Thats not a drawback in the slightest.
@@jammerlr7780 You must be new to reading, nothing in my message even remotely implies there is anything wrong with doing that. All I said is that the only good Springfield guns were not made by Springfield.
PDP serrations blazed the trail and Sig stying took the second chair on this one. I like where this is going
I'm reeeeaaally liking that truly ambidextrous mag release. I'm close to being convinced to get one of these...
I have never heard this man say, l have no complaints so yes l will be looking at this gun.
I enjoy watching you two shoot.. Thanks for the review. I did not expect much from the gun but your experience proved me wrong
They have a 5.28" threaded barrel out right now
Thnx so much for the in depth review this gun is next up for purchase
The Pro is still worth if you're looking for something to carry. You wouldn't want to carry this all the time its more full size.
Hell-O'kitty would actually be awesome :D
More appropriate too
This is the first time that Springfield kept the name their manufacturer uses.
The Echelon has been marketed in Europe for a few months now.
Ya just sold me an Echelon! Love your videos. Very honest No BS!
@Honest.outlaw I too am a Glock guy! 19 gen 5!
Best review I've heard so far about this gun. As far as comparisons I'd love to see how this gun stacks up against the PDP.
Agreed. Maybe the 4.5" barrel version with the 18 round mag?
Same thing i was thinking but honestly for the price its already the one im getting.
That’s what I’m HEARING!! Thanks for the confirmation!!
Lol you can definitely tell it’s a bit of a awkward moment when you’re praising Springfield and not so much for the Smith. But…. It shows your honesty and unbiased opinion. Two thumbs up!
Looks like another great springfield cool video thanks 👍
If Springfield made it themselves, I wouldn't care. But since it's a Croatian import, might be pretty good. I also like the gas pedals.
Agreed, HS Produkt has my interest, Springfield does not
Not just that its an import. But made by a company with an excellent track record of quality.
HS made the XD and XD-M too 😂😂😂
every Polymer handgun that Springfield had their name on was just rebranded HS Produkt guns from Croatia. Even the Hellion is from Croatia.
Wtf are you on about? Springfield is croatian. They jumped on the name when Springfield Armory went down a while back.
Just got the Pro and CZ P10 but with you being impressed this will be next. Thanks!
Rear serrations look glockish, front serrations look PDPish to me. Id say you're both right
Rear serrations with the wing tabs is more HK VP9 than Glock IMO.
This gun is just a sample of everything thats worked out for other companies and put together... copy all the homework but make it your own so they re-used the hellcat grip mod.. i give props on the optic mounting system tho
I was thinking it looks a lot like the S&W Equalizer
My favorite review so far, no surprise there. Thanks for the input.
Wonder what would come out of the soup if a Glock 17, Walther PDP, Canik Mete, Sig P320 and H&K VP9 all got together and had an honest conversation with each other? Pretty cool someone came out with a system that was truly optics ready.
The frame kind of reminds me of an apx
@@gutWrench9mm Yeah, you're right. Add Beretta to the meeting attendees. Guess my point is that I'm totally pumped how much gun anyone can get for so little money. Best way for the 2A to stick around is for more people to be able to afford to exercise the right. I still totally love 1911s and I can see spending a bunch for one just because they're super cool but I'm kind of enjoying all the competition for polymer 9mms.
I'll be more interested if they come out in 45acp or 10mm. Nice unsponsered, honest review ...thanks
I normally ccw a glock19x but was shocked at how light the echelon felt compared to my 19x. All the slide milling really takes a ton of excess weight out of it and it points so quick on the draw due to ergonomics. Really
Just needs a metal magwell and its perfect. Great design.
I was waiting for you to post. Truly an Honest approach to a review.
Springfield has been partnered with HS Produkt for over 20 years.
@@meb212 Which is the best thing that ever happened to both companies. One gets good firearms it can sell thousands of every month, and the other gets access to the biggest gun market in the world. Symbiosis like no other.
@@brunobegic3841 I agree, I'm just pointing out that HS has been sending guns to the US with Springfield's logo for over 2 decades now. It's nothing new
Hopefully on their own and they ditch their partnership with grifter Springfield or partner up in the USA market with someone more reputable.
Maybe someone who also has a development side as well as quality production facilities in the USA.
S&W, CZ-USA, Mossberg, Beretta-USA, are you listening?
i've been watching your channel for a long time. and for you to say you have no complaints is like a 10 out of 10 for me. so i'm definitely going to purchase thank you for making honest content.
It does look like a Glock and a P Walther PDP had a baby. Springfield the red head stepchild of the gun world never cease to amaze me. I love the XDM series and the Hellcat Pro and now this one looks like I will like it as well.
Bought one today off this review and I'll say this. It's my new edc as of rn. Ran great even with stell casing. I love it
As a lefty shooter, I would love to see a comparison video of this vs the VP9.
The CZ P10s are super great guns. I just can’t stand the gap between the slide and the dust cover
@@frankreynolds9936 PSA had the P10C for $299 the other day!
@@Tuleyne that's wild. I just grabbed a P-10F OR SR from Dahlonega for $414. Another steal.
:) At my age, I can't even see a hundred yards, but your enthusiasm makes me want to look into the weapon.
He said “Cuz RickyBobby likes to go fast”
Hilarious.
14:11 Springfield was listening! Picked up my FDE Echelon a few days ago!
Then how will they keep milking the gun cows lol
This is the kind of review I like. This is a weapon you bought off the shelf. I can use that to decide if I want to buy this weapon or not. Whenever the manufacturer sends you something, we cant know if they made it just a notch or two better than what one would buy off the shelf.
Fine I'll buy another gun
😂right
I just got one love it
😂😂😂 man! Ok I’ll get my Canik rival first then this one.
I’m on the same boat. Shit
Due to your review I picked this up along with the Holosun 507 competition and its a beast. 😊
Very nice, glad to see that Springfield / HS product made something decent. I’ve been looking for a polymer gun with a grip angle and index similar to my Shadow 2, with the euro tang and grip, but without the weight. This looks close -how did it feel compare to a S2?
Got to demo this gun at a local range the day it released. I haven't stopped thinkin bout it since, definitely buying!
My only issue with this gun is that I don’t have it yet… which is unacceptable.
