  • Our first overnight trip to our cabin in the woods was a success! We head out on a 60 mile snowmachine excursion to access the remote cabin and when we arrive there is a entire day's worth of cleaning to do. After settling down for our first hot meal, cooked courtesy of the mini camp stove, we get a good night's rest for the long journey home. As we leave our new cabin we can't help looking forward to the many more adventures yet to come!
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀

I don’t know about anyone else, but seeing your videos pop up makes my day. Also I really enjoy the long videos. It’s almost like it’s own little tv show. So happy for the both of you acquiring this new property and opportunity. My wife and I bought a remote plot of land along a river in the mat su valley and we are planning on moving up there from the lower 48 this coming summer. Alaska is the land of freedom and opportunity and we can’t wait to live up there full time to live our dreams just like you two are.

Yes, I have a roof rake for the house but for my shed and other sloped pitches this is a really great way to get the weight of heavy snow off!!! Genius! You can control it better than throwing the ice pucks for snow roof melting, plus no chemicals. Crazy that there could be earthquakes there, tipping over maple syrup. What a wild and wonderful adventure!!!! Love it! Thank you ❤ for sharing

Honest to God. To watch two people have such a simple, sweet adventure, when most of us are stuck trapped in our homes, is just giving me life tonight. Me and my girl lived in the country side from March to December with more than you had (running water, hot water from the sun, heating with wood, toilet outside, shower outside, kitchen outside). We called it quits in December and went to the city. When cold got to us it became too much. We enjoyed it a bunch until then. But you seem to have a blast in those hard conditions.

I’ve been waiting on this video to drop and I was so excited when I saw it today! You guys definitely didn’t disappoint! Almost an hour long filled with tons of beautiful scenery, some good dog time, and lots of exploring! I always love your adventures! Thank you for keeping me (and my Sheltie) entertained when I don’t have time to get out in the woods myself! 💜

Me too, Kristen Potter! I also was very happy to see 57 minutes of footage, all quality, as the history of the cabin unfolded through old clues. Very nice. Hard, but worth all of the planning and effort. I applaud their energy and resourcefulness. The journal is a great great idea!

The cake you had was an Italian style Panettone - awesome stuff. However I probably would not have put Nutella on it... 😱. Fun fact about Panettone: I once run over one that slipped under the car when unloading. It was flat like pancake when I brought it inside. Left it on the kitchen table over night. Next morning it was back in its original shape!!! Can't do that with cheese cake! 🤣

I recommend that you look into Heimo and Edna Korth. He raised his entire family (4 daughters) in a small cabin in the very remote Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. In fact, he’s one of the only permanent residents in an area larger than most states.
Not to take anything away from Eric and Ariel, I think they are great. But, the Korth’s optimize what you mean by a true Alaskan. Hunting, trapping, fishing and building your own cabin. Check them out if you dig this kind of lifestyle.

Hi, to the both of you. You two are the first camping show I watched. I followed you and was quite ( and your dogs) taken by it. I wandered where you went because the cabin progressed thruout it all. I stayed with you and told whomever would listen about this. I live in manhattan and ran a jazz club and a singer myself. This was the Very First Video I saw of yours. Now I'm completely watching many other people's videos. Your stuff wasn't coming up and now your back. Its jan.17th, 2022. I know now your a Brand. That's great. Carry on. Peace to you.

One of the best finds you made was the sardines in olive oil, you probably don’t know that these sardines get better with age. My grand father taught us that when he bought cases of sardines before the Second World War and it was those same tins that kept the family fed for years. The last lot we ate were over 20 years old and they were the best. These were the Atlantic sardines packed in Portugal an were the larger 500 gm tins. I think that there is only one cannery left that is still canning these sardines. Now they are only for the food specialists! Harera

I know that sardines or tuna in olive oil are hard to find in the US. Here in Europe there are also not always in every supermarket. In a pinch, buy them packed in water, drain thoroughly and add your own favorite olive oil after opening. Tastes great too.

This reminds me of our little place at the lake we had for 10 years. I miss it, but I don't miss it also. It's hard to explain. It's was fun but it was work. That 10 years went by so fast. Sort of like the saying about buying a boat. Best day of your life getting your new boat, second best day of your life selling your boat. Bitter and sweet at the same time. You guys are young so enjoy it while you can. You only get to ride on this ball in space and go around the sun so many times. 👍 You do get to keep the memories 👍

Way to go guys! We are on our 3rd hundred page logbook for our cabin in off the Petersville Road. Keep the log going and insist all visitors make a comment. Passive rain collection is a big help. Put a sauna on the list. To get a nights sleep in June a small bug tent is essential used on the deck or on the floor inside.
