- We make it to one of Alaska's Public Use Cabins tucked into a forest alongside a lake complete with a phenomenal view of Denali. This cabin has been on our bucket list to stay at for quite some time and we were thrilled to catch plentiful Burbot, or freshwater Cod, for a memorable dinner.
For more information on staying at an Alaskan Public Use Cabin follow this link: www.alaska.org...
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀

I wish you were on everyday 😪 Your channel is better than any TV show out there Love and hugs from Pennsylvania Sincerly Melody
Agree 100% Louisiana ❤
Totally agree. Ohio. Love you guys!🤗
I agree 100%
Agreed 💯 Florida here.

I’m old and crippled. I love watching you two adventurers Everything you do brings us into your adventure with your filmmaking and the way you interact with us, the audience, and how you interact with each other. Partners, lovers and great companions. Thank you for bringing your adventures to us on a regular basis. You bring a bit of excitement into my life and I’m so grateful.
Such a sweet comment. Love your spirit
I feel exactly the same way! I wish I had been able to do things like this in my younger years and I tried my best with two young girls to bring as much adventure into the great outdoors that a single mom is capable of but I sure would have loved to have had a companion and lover to share in all the heavy lifting because oh the adventures we would have had! Now I’m happy to just have a wonderful husband that shares in daily life and takes such amazing care of me! It’s so much fun to watch your videos!! ❤️❤️🙏🏻🥰🇨🇦
Absolutely great video! Thank you guys! ❤
I’m disabled and I enjoy watching brings back memories of my youth
I'm not religious, but for some reason I need to say (in case you are) God bless you, and be as happy as possible. 😍 You might consider putting a shield around the old guy in the sled?
Bo is my spirit animal... so laid back and chill 😂
Is he the one that has very little energy?? I am guessing he is old?
@@sandramarc4858 Yeah, he's older and an old soul
I bet if he could talk he'd say he wanted to move back to Oregon where it's not quite so artic 🥶
@Sandy Marcelo, They're both older. I believe 12 yrs. Bo is most like me as well. Bandit reminds me of my elderly mom, always on the go. He's a true hunting dog.
I just love those 2 dogs! They are so loved and well taken care of. Bo is the Grampa! LOL Loved the mountain and the beautiful scenery!
I love that Bo! His facial expressions and body language is so dang adorable .
Love how Bo knows the drill and is ready for his ride!
My husband and I have been married for over 51 years. Most of our free time has been spent in a boat or out on the ice. My husband has some health issues which have kept us from fishing the past couple years. We will miss it greatly, but thankful for all the memories But we sure have the great memories, and have eaten many a walleye together. I'm so happy to see couples younger than us enjoy this kind of life, even the Yahtzee games. We also enjoyed cribbage.
A few years back when I first started following you guys I held my grand daughter hostage (10) and made her watch with me.
know she alerts me when you drop a video excitedly. She understands better the purpose of work.chores and curiosity. I just love the young lady she is becoming.
I would say your show is the new Disney for my little 👪
Disney is an evil corporation.
Hope this doesn’t sound weird but I want to snuggle up to Bo and fall asleep. I don’t even care if he snores! Absolutely stunning view of Denali!
He does snore 😁💗
We have public use 'cabins' in Scotland too, although they are mostly built of stone, called a 'bothy'. Same principles apply though and they are a great municipal asset and demonstration of community spirit. Thanks for your videos!
I thought anyone could use a bothy, without booking?
@@flowersflowers473 Yes, that's right ☺
I need to know - did Eric find the dollar? Your two boys are perfect examples of well-loved dogs. I absolutely love your videos; great videography, beautiful surroundings, and you two (four). It doesn’t get better than that❤
No ;(
That's what I came to the comments to find out about. I hope the last person didn't pull a Molly Brown and hide it in the woodstove. 😆
@@SimpleLivingAlaska I bet it was stuffed behind one of those many coat pegs that caught your attention. If you had discovered one of the pegs was loose in the hole into which it was shoved, wouldn’t you have folded up the dollar and inserted the peg on top of it? I would have :)
@@mizmonster I went "comment fishing" too, as I needed to know if he found that dollar! 😂
@@SimpleLivingAlaska hello you two. I've been a subscriber of your Channel for almost 5 years? I have watched you go through your ups and downs and I gotta say that I've learned from you. You should be very proud of yourselves. I've lived off grid in Trapper Creek Alaska for 20 years now and I'm 61 now and I'm going to need to settle down to my senior years and I'm having a hard time with making myself do it. I've been on my own now since Henry has gone home to heaven. I'm going to have to start getting hired help. I just had to tell you that I love you both and thank you for teaching me some things. I'm going to be sending a couple of my older goats to the north pole to be able to retire in a heated barn. I'm going to be keeping the 2 one year olds for a bit yet. It's getting harder to get hay for them on my own, but I'm not ready to give up yet. Take care. Stay strong and healthy.
Bo and Bandit are so cute!
Denali was magnificent!
Thanks so much for bringing us along!
Bo doing his little tippy taps before dinner fills me with joy!
Hahahahaha! I really can't say I've heard someone so excited about seeing a rock in the water, made my day!
Baklava is that dessert that is very high in honey and phillo pastry. I loved this video mainly because it had a little of everything in it. What a joy to beable to have a nice cabin to enjoy there. Thanks from Oklahoma
What a stunning location and view of Denali 🤩
Thanks for bringing us along 🙌
LOVE: the sunset and temperature info: the complete lack of drama: the camera work that is always spot on, I'm always anxious for the next video!!
I second that, very well said 👍!
Wow, looks like a fairy tale!!! So glad the boys can still come on an adventure!! 🐾🐾💕
I don’t know if you follow Modern Homestead Alaska but Jessica and the kids went ice fishing and on the way out her throttle froze on the 4 wheeler and she crashed into a tree. Be careful out there.
I've been watching you now for a few years and am 62 yo...(not sure how that happened!). I work full time and have also been a full time caregiver to my parents in our home for many years. When my Mom passed 3 years ago, I hadn't been anywhere for years, and now caring for Dad, we don't have any adventures anymore to be with him. Your videos are a treasure to me, plus, I learn a lot about gardening and canning! Thanks for taking us along on your adventures!!!
You two are the bravest people I’ve seen. No fear when it comes to exploring or fishing on solid ice. I just love this channel. PS - your food always look so good.
Hell here in north western Ont. CANADA WE drive our 4x4 pickups 7 miles on the ice on the largest of the great lakes. To ice fish for lake trout an fresh water salmon hearing walleye
What’s to be scared of? It’s the middle of winter in alaska.
If there is moving water under the ice it can cause the ice to be thin. On some lakes near us the ice can be 14 inches thick and if you walk 5 feet away it can be 4 inches thick. It is always best to be careful
I just had a 52minutes - vacation in Alaska! Thank you, dear friends. Many greetings from the Netherlands, Enny.
Hello, netherlands from the USA
52 Minutes!!! I've been bingeing your videos all week 🤣 super excited for a new winter fishing video!
I so enjoyed this video. Reminds me of what we used to do when we were so much younger.
Tip about that lantern case. If you do not have it snapped in EXACTLY SECURELY, the bottom will drop out with the lantern and you'll be replacing globes on a regular basis. I purchased a new lantern in such a case and the first thing that happened when it was opened was the bottom dropping out and the globe breaking. The best lantern cases Coleman ever made were the yellow clam shell types that can only be found on eBay. Even if the lantern rolls around in that thing, they will not break.
It's great to see Beau is still holding his own. I enjoy all of your animals and the wild ones as well. They bring such life and interest to your videos.
Denali is one of the most majestic mountains I've ever seen in my life. I spent my first years in Boulder and later in my teens I climbed at the base of the Swiss Alps. I've seen the Appalachian mountains as well as many other mountains across the world and honestly nothing compares to that time of year with Denali as your view. Just gorgeous.
The end was hysterical! Thanks for the chuckle!
I know! "Fishcicles" lol
@@brendag2891 Right?!? 🤣
Wow amazing videos
Talk about a getaway 😉 with some absolutely amazing views. Alaska is not only a amazing huge expanse of absolute beauty 😍 with so many natural ways for those who love the outdoors to totally decompress. It's 2023 and I am still loving everything that this channel has to offer. Thank you so much Eric, Ariell and give Bo and Bandit a hug 🤗 for their contribution also. Happy New Year!!
Watching this video from Alabama y'all. I like it very much thanks for sharing. 😊🙏love the snow!❄❄❄🐕🐕
Thank you for posting times and temps; it really makes it personal to me. Love your channel
I watch your videos because of the way you treat each other and the way you treat your fur babies. This trip was wonderful, thanks for taking me along.
Snowmobiling on the frozen lakes in the upper peninsula of MI is crazy fun: thanks for the great memory of spending time with my brother there before his untimely death.
I had a small panic attack watching this, it hit to close to home to soon after my throttle stuck this last week and I hit a tree having to be transported by ambulance. I look rough but I survived. I am how ever encourage to get out and ice fish again this weekend. God bless and keep and watch over you two in the new year.
Excellent trip guys! Thanks for taking us along!
Beautiful view of Denali! Your energy amazes me and all you do in one day, be it work, recreation or both! The fish fry looked really good! The cabin was cozy with the woodstove fire and the dogs also looked cozy. Really enjoyed the video. Thanks for all the work it takes to record, edit and upload. It's always a treat when one of your videos pop up. Take care.
I really love your channel!! I enjoy watching your pups also! They are just the sweetest boys!
Something so soothing about watching the flames flickering... 😌 I am disabled and really enjoy watching you guys doing your thing! As long as you stay safe, I am happy 😊!
Always brings a smile to my face when I get to see Ariel & Eric, Bo & Bandit on an exciting Alaskan adventure.
Sending you positive vibes and blessings from Northern Indiana ❄😊
I love seeing the boys in your videos. We take our two boys everywhere with us, camping, canoeing (they hated that), paddle boarding ( liked that ), hiking ( loved ), all the things.
Gotta say really like your videos. Loads of action and busyness and minimal talking. Hits the right balance. 💙
Loved the outtakes at the end!
said it before. You guys seem made for each other. I like the way you work together; and, Eric seems like an everyman, and Ariel has this Earth mother vibe. I have been a fan for several years now, and I have recommended you to others.
I bought one of those for my husband at a yard sale 15 years ago or more! His was also unused, but took a different fuel!
Those pups put a smile on my face every single time! Bo is something else! Just chilling out and relaxing on the sled ride. ❤❤❤
Thank you both so much for another lovely adventure. Great to see the "pups" having a great time as well. Happy New Year, stay safe and stay warm.
Big fish!!!
In Minnesota we call the Burbot = Eel Pout. Once again you two outdid yourselves treating us with another fabulous video and wonderful views of Mount Denali! Thank you!👍
The views of Denali seem unreal like in a painting. Just breathtaking
Wow so beautiful the intro. ❤❤❤
Got a real soft spot for Bo and all of his candid moments!
Love your content keep it coming and the Alaska scenery is absolutely beautiful
At 33:32, a view to die for, amazing.
Absolutely beautiful out there. Love how excited you guys get. Also loved that shot of Bandit sitting by the woodstove.
Wow! did not expect to see «Makrell i tomat» here. We use it on bread. Greetings from Norway.
Ahhhhhhhhhh, winter camping and ice fishing, it's been so long, used to go in northern Ontario, Canada!!! Thank you so much for sharing this video, almost like I had gone ice fishing again!! Such beautiful scenery too!! Hope poor old Beau is doing okay. Stay safe, be happy!! ❤❤
Hi from Norway, 🇳🇴.
So happy that you like our
Makrel in tomato.
A good advice is that when you open the box, do not take the lid completly off, because the tomatosauce will splash on you.
Well, you maybe already experience that? 😊
Another great fishing trip. As usual, thanks for taking us along on your adventure. Really liked seeing Denali!
Bo is the most precious dog. Love his sweater! 😍 What a great holiday! Happy New Year, guys!
Absolutely gorgeous scenery. I really enjoy your adventures.
The dogs on the sled, love it!! They have such cool personalities.
What a great way to start the evening with your video! Happy New Year and love the intro!
You can slide the glass down on the small uco candle lantern to light the wick ✌
What an amazing way to finish out the year. You guys are having the time of your life and your experiences will lead you far into your "golden years". Enjoy and thank you for taking us along.
You 2 got that "it" factor, I've lived in Alaska 32 yrs and loved watching you. Reminds me of when I was younger and doing the same types if things. Keep it up great stuff.
Phenomenal editing and content as usual guys. Thank you so much for sharing your time as always!
A hour well spent. Thanks for another fantastic video. It's such a wonderful way to decompress.
Thank you.
Y’all are the cutest couple! I love watching y’all. Happy New Year! 🎉 From Missouri *
Sweet deal on that vintage Coleman lantern! I remember those when they were new. Great fishing guys!
Awesome shot of Eric starting the ski when you guys are packing up to leave. Phenomenal colors and Denali right over his shoulder.
@@samanthaw1419 Haha! But that's the beauty of Alaska. Stunning and gorgeous, but always commanding your respect.
What a life
I love, love, love how you are REALLY experiencing all that life has to offer in Alaska. Thank you SO much for taking us along on your adventures!
That was an awesome video. The scenery and view of Denali was beautiful thanks 😊
Thank you for sharing your lives with us!
I can watch your videos over and over again :)) you are the best !
Another great video and adventure. Wishing you both a happy and healthy New Year!
A helpful tip when an elderly dog has trouble getting up ,and even walking.
Put a towel under their tummy and gently lift until they are standing, assist them for a couple of steps in case they fall over or even for a short 'walkies' or until they can walk on their own.
Another tip cut up a fleece jumper and stitch inside their dog coats for extra warmth
It is so obvious the care you show your doggy family and all your animals and the empathy that you both have for everything around you.
I loved this episode! Denali is stunning. To wake up to that on a cold winter day is just beautiful. Two (well 5) of my favorites. Eric, did you find that dollar 💵? Stay warm and safe & Happy New Year!
Bo in that sled is the cutest thing ever! ❤
Wait did you find the dollar? Love watching you both. So entertaining and exciting to see you catch fish.
I need to know too! Can’t leave us wondering!
Yuup, we're all dying to know
The site is beautiful, for sure! And the cabin cozy. I remember as a kid in the 1950s using a Coleman lantern for light in our Minnesota lake cabin.
Love the natural lace window covering ...
Winter is beautiful even if it's cold
I find myself smiling and laughing outloud at you two and the Dogs
I know, that frost was so pretty!
Can’t say enough about you love for adventure, wish I would have done more of this when I was young and able but I feel like I’m with you sometimes! Thanks for another awesome video! Glad the pups get to enjoy it as well! ✌🏼❤️🙏🏼
I don't know how much more I can say without sounding creepy, but you guys just keep getting better and better. The vidiography is incredibly. The view of Denali was absolutely the best. thanks once more!
The relationship you share is heartwarming. My wife left me this year, watching your videos really helps, thank you.
Sorry to hear that
@@SimpleLivingAlaska thank you, btw I've since decided to leave the NW and visit my father for a month who lives in a very small swiss village. I'll be posting videos of what's next, thank you for your inspiration.
Woohooo. Was just wondering when the next video was up
Thanks guys, another great informative video. Well done.
Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. It’s so heartwarming to see how much you care for each other and your dogs. ❤

You two really know how to make your days count. ♥️
Where you met Jeff & Bear is so beautiful! Wide open spacesand clear skies!! I imagine what it was like for the pioneers going westward ho...We're so lucky!
Happy new year from NZ. I've been flyfishing and making my own flys since I was 8yo. So appreciate the joy of catching and eating the fish. just love your channel and thankyou for letting us all in. Astoundingly beautiful scenery.

Been watching your channel for quite a while now and I think this is up there with one of my favorites. The scenery was just stunning. Awesome video.❤
That snowfall we got in December was crazy. Haven’t seen that kind of dump in decades!
Beautiful shot of Denali. 🥰
