You folks are living the life that I always wanted to experience, but was never able to get it started. I am an 80-year-old man who now lives his life through you two and your dogs. You make my life more interesting and just plain enjoyable. You have the most enjoyable and informative while being inclusive on the web. Many thanks
You guys are like children. You always find joy in everything you do. A compliment in case you're wondering. I think it's great. We would live in a much better world if more people were like you. Also, I have fallen in love with Bo and Bandit...especially Bo.
If I were the envious type, I would envy you right now. Instead, I choose to be happy for you and appreciate you sharing your good life in Alaska with us. 🙏🏾
“Eric! Eric. THINK about what YOURE doing.” I was on the floor with that one. If that isn’t me with my husband. And Eric said back “I’m just trying to live my life!” Y’all crack us up so much. These cabin videos feel so dang cozy and I appreciate you sharing them the way you do. Thank you guys for another wonderful chapter.
You guys have to be the cutest, funniest, most authentically cool couple ever. I’m still laughing about the time a few videos back when Arielle tried to get on the deck before you put in the stairs. She got stuck, kinda like a beached whale, and desperately cried, “Eric.” Who came over and barely suppressing his laughter said, “I’m not sure what you want me to do here. Do you want to go up or back or what?” And Arielle replied, “I don’t know.” And now, “Eric. Think what you’re doing.” “I’m just trying to live my life.” That cabin turns you guys into a comedy duo. Thanks for taking us along. You guys make me smile more than anything or anyone I watch.
Look, white, lumpy rain! That was so nice of your neighbor to loan you his boat - kudos to him. Ya know, maybe it would be a good idea to have a small boat just as a backup to leave at the cabin. Wow! That stove looks really nice with the glass front. Bandit has a really intense look while flying; kinda like, "daddy, can I try it now?". Meanwhile, Bo is just like, "dude, let me hug you & you hug me back". Took 3 tries, but it looks like another fun run in the back country. Glad you had a blast.
I feel your pain with the boat issues I'm in south louisiana and grew up on the bayou, life at times depended on our boat and they seemed to break down frequently. My dad would always say a boat owners favorite days are the day he buys his boat and the day he sells it.
At our cabin, we save the coffee grinds for when we make coffee and spread them all around the cabin and deck. Has helped us a lot. Bears hate the scent. Have not had any bear sightings thus far!!
I feel like a little child watching his parents when I watch your videos. I relate to just about everything you two put together and I can remember my childhood at mile 27 on the Alaska Highway. We hunted, fished and spent many a weekend fishing at little lakes like the one where your cabin is. I also appreciate your teamwork and how you enjoy life in the Alaskan wilderness.
It's 6 p.m. in Texas here and I saw your download I was so excited and tell my husband stop I have to see them you two are so awesome and it really encourages me as a 56 year-old to work in my garden and just to enjoy life and but you two are doing it right God bless
What I love most about you guys is that you show your failures as well as your successes. Even when Ariel put too much cake and yogurt in her mouth and had to take out a bit - well I loved the humanity and reality of it. Keep on keeping it real. Much love from a melting hot heat wave in tropical north Queensland, Australia.
When you guys were out on the lake.. like glass... I love a lake like that!! It totally brought relaxation to me, just to watch it/hear it against the boat..etc.. So awesome. I absolutely LOVE that you bring the boys out with you so they experience things and live full lives. I know it's a drag to pull out the camera, film, go get it, place it again, film, go get it again, etc. I can see it's A LOT of work but I think most of your viewers, including me, appreciate EVERY SINGLE SECOND of the effort you two put into your content. Hands down, this is my FAVORITE channel on youtube. This Canadian thanks you!!!
You know something you just pretty much said it all right there I have never been associated with any kind of online anyting where we just pretty much had to build it all, I'm 71 and these are like my kids, they teach me something everyday. Man I've been moose hunting, fishing with a mouse, yo Eric you miss that one that was a big fish, broke down in a boat, had a bear try to get in the cabin it's getting to be Kansas winter. But have a good day and thanks so very much for the videos Jack
Love watching your videos and y’all’s relationship. Also Bo is such a sweet old man, the way he puts his head on Erick is absolutely the sweetest thing 🥰
Loved every aspect of this one, the boat issues, the plane ,the basic cabin amenities, the food description, the scenery , the camaraderie that Arielle & Eric share and of course the canine scenes. A miracle the pilot can find your lake amidst the many in Alaska....
Have to share: I’ve done most everything you’re doing n now at 82 n retired ( if one ever does on the farm), we enjoy our cottage off the grid at 51:37 the lake , on our farm😊 It’s a joy to see young people experiencing natures best!!
I love when you post long videos! I literally said “Nice!” out loud… by myself! lol I always make a snack because you guys make me hungry! Thanks again for taking the time to make these videos! They’re well done, and you guys are awesome!
Every time you guys pet your dogs, I reach over and pet my old dog. He's always by my side. I can't imagine a world without him. Envy you guys your cabin so much. I could sit out there by a fire and read or listen to music all day. A hammock would be nice too. Hope you get your boat fixed.
I get an unexplainable feeling of peace when I watch your videos. Thank you for this and thank you for always taking the time to record the amazing vistas that you encounter. I come back again and again to see them. Please continue to put emphasis on the scenery and wildlife. You are both incredible people and a beautiful couple. My dream is to live your dream one day!
Hello! Eric & Arielle, 🤗💕🐕🐕🛩️⛵🐻🦫🦈🔥🫕🍜🙏👍. Glad to see you and the dogs are doing well. As usual, this was an awesome trip. I had a great time. I love the fall or spring best, because it's still a little cool, and no biting insects. The aerial video from the airplane is absolutely gorgeous, just like the videos you show from your drone. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures and way of life with me and many others. These adventures are extra special to many of us who are older and not physically able to do certain things anymore. You both are such hard workers and very knowledgeable and always willing to learn new things. Your channel is such a blessing to so many people. May God bless you both always...
I absolutely love everything you guys put out. I discovered your channel about a year ago and have watched every single video that you have put out. You guys are inspiring and bring so much joy to the world. Thank you for sharing it with all of us.
It looks like the corners of your cabin are the areas of interest for the bears. Is it worth considering some right angled metal flashing for the corners, say 6" or so return down each side.
Ariel, I've watched all your vlogs and every time you both have played Scrabble, Erik has come up with words that, to you, we're not really words. Guess what? I've looked them up, and they are actually words. "zag" is a word and so is "zeet". Erik, how is it that you always get the letter "z"?😳 Love you guys! Great videography, Ariel. You've got a great sense of creativity for capturing God's beauty in His creation. Thanks for sharing it with us.👍💖🥰
I really appreciate how you see the beauty in nature everywhere and share that with us! It’s obvious in the shots you get of plants and berries and vistas in general! Thank you for that 😉
Ariel you hit proverbial nail on the head, when you said that it is quiet 🤫at your remote cabin. It's great that you and Eric have that quiet place to go to.
Oh my goodness~ this is fantastic! I was so nervous for you guys when you said the river is low. But I am so happy for the plane trip! I love that you recorded the simple things like playing Scrabble, washing the dishes, and boarding up for winter. ♡ the outtakes at the end. A tip for Bo's motion sickness~ make him lay facing forward. Laying across the plane will make him sick. I found this out the hard way when transporting my dog across the city on busses. Thanks for the hour long video today~ made my morning the best in awhile. Will I be recording lectures later? No, probably just watching this again. 🤣 Thank you as always for your spectacular effort in videoing and editting. ♡ from Korea!
You guys certainly get an A plus for perseverance. With most things in life, half the fun is not the end goal but the challenge getting there. Absolutely stunning vistas from the plane. I also loved Eric’s comment about the chocolate mousse “it’s good, pause, it tastes like a chocolate power bar so it’s not good”. So funny!! Thanks for a great and lengthy video. Smiles from Canada
"Zag is not a word? I wanna do something with my life!" Loved this video! I work in healthcare all day everyday with many hours of overtime...thank you for being that thing that I look forward to!!!
@@fonkapollo the carpet and cubicles were gone when we arrived. We demolished a whole floor in 2 sections. Ceiling tile, grid, those huge lights, all electric conduit, and air ducts. One guy was the designated lunch cook. 2 refrigerators, Tesco's, microwaves and griddle . Crew of 30 to 40

Eric is like Batman he can do anything..but his wife is the shit tho wish I had haft of her strengths .you guys are amazing, I’ve been up watching all of y’all videos for 2 days
Walked away from wall street twenty years ago and raised our six kids In Interior Alaska. It has been filled with much adventure. What I appreciate most about your two failed starts to get to the cabin is that it is so representative of the adaptability requried and how truly "it is not the destination it's the journey."
For me this video of your trip, was almost like me literally being there with you and I didn't want the experience to end so soon. This was an hour of intense awesomeness
Arielle, speaking about how cozy the loft is, that it makes you want to hibernate, maybe that’s why the bear is trying to get in. Really enjoyed long video and trip to the cabin. Have a great week.
Coolest feeling ever- just went on a little walk in Colorado and stumbled upon some rose hips and knew what they were from watching this video. You guys make life a little more magical thank you always 💖✨
Just wanted to thank you guys for the massive time/effort you guys invest in these videos! They're always gorgeous, and I really love seeing updates on the shenanigans you guys get into. Such drama to start with in this one!
I’m telling you those dogs are so photogenic and precious. I just love watching them take everything in. Great stove and the cabin are just great! You two are brave tasting those 20 plus year old food. I would like to try it, too!🙏🏼❣️♥️❣️🙏🏼
I agree these guys really bring out the best in people, I love to read the comments too and thank-you so much for your inspiring comment and God Bless..
As someone who's owned a boat for pretty much my whole life, engine issues or throttle issues seem to come up at the worst possible time. Glad you still made it out. :)
I so admire you two living for your life. And those 2 dogs, just make me smile all the time. They look like - yep just another day in the bush. So cute.... I wish you many more years of your beautiful lifestyle.
Found your channel last year and I’ve binge watched all your videos and always wait for new uploads, your videos inspire. Love from Papua New Guinea ❤️
Bears love to clean their claws on the corners of cabins. Some sheetmetal on corners slows it down Also..hide your openings behind full sheets of plywood, they love to enter as a challenge...lol..we have had our first snow as well n temps In20-30...high rockies of CO.
I spent my younger years in Alaska, Fairbanks and Eagle River areas. I’m in grad school now and can’t wait to have the opportunity to move to Alaska and try my hand at off grid living. I’m a single mom so I worried about my son having just turned 2 when I got bachelors in the spring of 2021. By the time I graduate with my PhD, I’ll be around 30 and he’ll be around 8, which should be easier to manage a schedule and task delegation. I haven’t found any channels with single parents living off grid, thus far, this channel seems to be the most practical. Thank you for sharing knowledge, both failures and success in off grid living. Found your channel and fell in love during the start of the pandemic in 2020 while searching for content that was wholesome and reminded me of better times in my life. Keep up the good work!
Your Bandit looks like a Catahoula...good to see him do so well in Alaska...I am in Yukon and had a some doubt about bringing my Catahoulas up here when i moved but they also seem to be doing ok. I realy enjoy your videos and all the cooking, gardening and canning tips.
This is a wonderful video - I binged my way through your entire channel this year and it's honestly been a fantastic experience from start to finish. I even went back to re-watch the video of your arrival at the cabin and it's incredible how you transformed the place in so little time. You've been doing an amazing job of it and I have tons of respect for how self-sufficient you are. Keep up the great content! Side note: Since you mentioned the rosehips, in Germany we use them for rosehip jam, which is the standard jam we put in jam-filled donuts... just in case you feel like baking anytime soon! ;-)
Your videos always brighten my day. I so admire your work ethic, your teamwork, and your resourcefulness. God bless all of you. (Poor Pepper, she never gets to see the cabin.)
Y'all actually relaxed! That may be the first time I've seen it! Heehee! Bandit was hoping for a vacation bog and Bo's hugs were the best! Peace ☮️ and love 💜 from Kimberly in South Dakota 💙❤️
I loved the whole adventure. It reminded me of when my family would join my father in the forest when he had to spend the summer there. I loved so much. The thick quiet and the aroma other trees, sil fresh air. Loads of fun and stream fishing with my dad.
I love your videos so much. They're getting better even every one. And this week's 1hr video is a treat. Thank you for you hard work and sharing your life.
Lifelong Alaskan, I love love love flying in a float plane (last trip was Halo Glacier area, Katmai to walk among the grizzlies). You guys took the dogs! Love that. Thank you for another really awesome vid. Tenacious. You are tenacious. Hope to meet you some day :)
These cabin "vacation" videos are for sure my favorite. It's so fun to see you guys just having fun and relaxing and being goofy and sweet. On another note, Eric needs to keep that beard for a while because damn. Handsome man!
63 year old British Columbia resident here I just love your lifestyle I've seen a lot of B.C and lived just a few miles out of Carcross Yukon for awhile back in the early 80's how would like to adopt a old Grandpaw . I really miss the North wish I had stayed in the north . Eric and Ariella you are living THE LIFESTYLE Video :33:58 dinner by lantern " priceless " Good for you living Adventures / happy & free give the doggys a big hug from the old guy
Great channel and the generosity of the people who live in Alaska is incredible. I have traveled there and find it very intriguing...a place where people care and men and women are real.
Hey guys thanks for keeping it real. I have to tell you my attention span has taken another level watching your postings! No fast forwarding needed as to the editing on your end. Watched this twice😃. Hope the issues with your boat throttle assembly is minor? Can't wait for the next posting 👏👍!!!!
Nice adventure with the float plane. Your cabin is really cool. I think you are going to get that big pike one of these trips. The new wood stove makes a cozy light. Thanks for the fun you provide,
What a great video after a long hard week. The boat adventure, the plane ride and just being at the cabin. Your videos are so therapeutic and I love that it was an hour. I’m so glad I found your UA-cam channel . You are touching so many lives. Please keep sharing.
A cabin out in the true wilderness is so peaceful to be at,whether you catch fish or not , enjoying one's life is what counts, great video, God Bless.....
Just when I thought I'd be productive😄 Honestly I'm not mad. Thank you guys for taking time to edit this 1 hour long video. I'm sure I'm not the only 1 who appreciates it.
Okay okay!!! You guys absolutely are beyond amazing!!! 🥳 after this great video I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say "1hr videos from here on out!!" 😊🤣 not only do we all learn something knew but you inspire new recipes for me to try! Thank you both for being so awesome.
You two are an adorable team! I love your adventures and your beautiful bond shines through it all. The love you share and how well you work together is admirable to say the least. Thank you for sharing your beautiful Alaskan journey with all of us. Really appreciate your hard work and your amazing job creating your videos. To Eric and Areial! Thank you!!!!!! Thank you so much for taking us along for that great adventure. And for making a cup of coffee look so dang delicious! ❤️ (Oh, zag is a word in the scrabble dictionary. Lol.)
Did anyoe else thought that this was the plot for a terror movie? You know, the nice young couple that goes to a woods cabin and cannot get back because the river froze! Lol! I was worried of all the effort it took for you to get there, but finally you did it as always, and got to live different experiences and took us with you.
thank you for always taking us with you on all your adventures, it's new one every single day with you guys! loved the scrabble bits in this one. love from iceland 🤍
Wow!!!! This one was special. We knew a prospector who made jam with those high bush cranberries. The jam had a strong flavor but delicious and tart. Loved it. Thank you for this adventure. So enjoyed the plane trip too. Oh ,man, the whole video!!!!. Karen from Canada
I would love to see a walk through of you getting your home set before you leave to head to the cabin? Do you have someone who takes care of your chickens or do you have an automatic feeder? What are some procedures you have in place to make sure you do not have to worry while you are away from home for a period of time.
So , how long will it be before Eric gets his pilots license. I've noticed most UA-camrs complain about planes flying over but he videos them in admiration
Well what a wonderful trip, I so enjoyed being the in back seat with the pups watching out the windows. You live in such a wonderful place and I so much appreciate that you allow us to be there too. I think my favorite moment has to be Bo putting his head on Eric, the affection and love is so precious. And where did you get the mini scrabble set, so much fun! Thanks again!

Zag is a word .you need a scrabble dictionary
I love watching your vlogs! With all the stress out in the world, it brings me peace!
I just love your dogs. Such kind, sweet old gentlemen! Wonderful trip to the backcountry. The scenery and colors were incredible!
What a beautiful thing you've done for your children!!!
You guys spoiled us with this one.. pretty sure every one wants hour long vids now.. hahahaa love it
The bloopers were just absolute gold☺️
Coolest feeling ever- just went on a little walk in Colorado and stumbled upon some rose hips and knew what they were from watching this video. You guys make life a little more magical thank you always 💖✨
Just wanted to thank you guys for the massive time/effort you guys invest in these videos! They're always gorgeous, and I really love seeing updates on the shenanigans you guys get into. Such drama to start with in this one!
@@Mike_hocksbig69 Alaskans can do this without youtube

I’m telling you those dogs are so photogenic and precious. I just love watching them take everything in. Great stove and the cabin are just great! You two are brave tasting those 20 plus year old food. I would like to try it, too!🙏🏼❣️♥️❣️🙏🏼
You have such amazing people following your adventures. I enjoy reading their comments. So positive and uplifting.
Its so nice to see you using the good old Colman camp stove, they just always work and seem to run on anything when they need to
Bears love to clean their claws on the corners of cabins. Some sheetmetal on corners slows it down
Also..hide your openings behind full sheets of plywood, they love to enter as a challenge...lol..we have had our first snow as well n temps

That's so cool! Bandit and Bo are so calm on the plane while flying.
I'm not gonna lie. I missed Eric saying, "I'm not gonna lie," on this one! Still a great video!
These cabin "vacation" videos are for sure my favorite. It's so fun to see you guys just having fun and relaxing and being goofy and sweet. On another note, Eric needs to keep that beard for a while because damn. Handsome man!
63 year old British Columbia resident here I just love your lifestyle I've seen a lot of B.C and
lived just a few miles out of Carcross Yukon for awhile back in the early 80's how would like to adopt a old

Good for you living Adventures / happy & free give the doggys a big hug from the old guy
Thanks for the fun you provide,
If really big 40" broil, pieces and dip in melted butter like lobster
That bear was looking for _'JUST THE RIGHT BED'_ to sleep in. Sort of a role reversal of _'Goldilocks'._ 🤣
You guys need a float plane!
Your outtakes are hilarious! Good video guys.
Just when I thought I'd be productive😄
Honestly I'm not mad. Thank you guys for taking time to edit this 1 hour long video. I'm sure I'm not the only 1 who appreciates it.
Warm hugs you two; sending love!! I'm SUPER pumped for this video!! ☕🇨🇦❤🍁
Oh boy reminds me of our years in Ak. Hope you bear proof the cabin. You two are great. hats off.

Lol.)
Made myself a coffee when I saw that
What a wonderful ending to the video! lol you guys are amazing folks and I can't thank you enough for sharing your life with us! It's a beauty!
Excellent question. I hope they answer
They told me before that they just leave out extra food and water.
yes... I was wondering about the cat, as well.
@@boymomx3OG our dream.
why would they want to put that type of information on Utube..
So , how long will it be before Eric gets his pilots license. I've noticed most UA-camrs complain about planes flying over but he videos them in admiration
Its very expensive to get in that game- many many flight hours. might not be worth it.
I like the way he always gives her before he takes for himself. Respect.
Your videos are like ASMR for the soul. I can feel autumn, the cool air, the paddles in the water. I feel like I just meditated
Yup....I agree....that picture 📸 of Bo and Eric was a Christmas card perfection 🥰
From the look on Eric’s face, I can see a pilot’s license and a float plane in your future! 🤣
Maybe but then they would have to change the name of the channel to "Complicated and Expensive Living Alaska".
Yup
I just commented something very similar before reading the comments. It's pretty plain to see isn't it?
I was thinking the same thing! It would be so cool if they both learned to fly and got a float plane.
I just started my vacation today and 1hr of this was a real treat! Thank you
Yay for vacations! Hope its good.
My sincere respects to all the bush pilots in Alaska without you so many people won't be able to live there. God protect you all amen
Absolutely loved this adventure! It was like a movie. Thanks for taking us along on the plane ride and beautiful scenery. You guys rock!
