Y'all it wasn't an easy winter losing Bo among many other struggles but we persevered and came through the other side. Break up season is just around the corner now. We hope you enjoy this video sharing some of our challenges this winter season, we're happy it's over and can only hope we are stronger because of it! 💜💚💙 ~ E + A
To anybody reading this, I pray that whatever is hurting you or whatever you are constantly stressing about gets better. May the dark thoughts, the overthinking, and the doubt exit your mind may clarity replace confusion. may peace and calmness fill your life.
My heart broke for you guys all over again, it was beautiful seeing Bo again and heartbreaking when you had to say goodbye. I cried for you all over again. You are the most beautiful couple and so strong. You have built a truly amazing life together and I feel privileged to be along for the journey. I’m looking forward to enjoying 2024 with you 💜 from 🇦🇺
Thanks for re-telling Bo’s story, and sharing your sense of loss. We had a chocolate lab, Nestlé, if my theology is right they are waiting for us in a place where we won’t need generators.
Eric like myself have a background I believe he does in electrical and maintenance. Most men used to be like that. I’m like that because I learned a lot of things working in maintenance jobs and I’m not afraid to tackle things with a little direction. How does the old saying go? “Necessity is the mother of invention.“
I just came upon this video after watching a more current one. I enjoy any video you two post. Keep them coming. Stunning photography of your gorgeous Alaska! All the physical tasks, issues to be resolved bc of the bitter cold, 🥶 keep Eric very busy! Susan
Whoever has a dog named Bo I do too my dog is getting old and I feel I feel he's my best friend my only friend He follows me everywhere I go by the creek through the woods he looks up at me what's next what a friend My dog bo Jr..
What this all shows is that if one wants to go live off the grid somewhere far and wild, a deep and intimate knowledge of engines and repairs is far more important than any romantic idea of fighting off wild bests and that kind of stuff.
My son is a beekeeper and he said if you want any chance with your bees, you should put them in a shed/barn over winter, not with the chickens or heated, but in a shed, so you can also feed them without losing too much heat. Maybe in an extension of the quonset hut later... I'm glad you guys made it through the tough winter. Thank goodness you are both incredible tough people. Stay strong, best wishes, look forward to your summer festivities.
So sorry to hear of Bo’s passing. What a wonderful and adventurous life he lived. Fur babies are the best. Thank you for sharing Bo and your life with us.
I've been suggesting that every year -- even in Scotland we brought the bees inside the shed out of the winds and frost, if you've got the space, why not? Just because they might survive why take the chance on the poor little things. What about an extension to the chicken shed?
I kept bees in upstate NY and we could lose an uninsulated hive after 10 days of sub-zero (Fahrenheit) weather. I think I would try to keep them in a space closer to freezing. I love your channel.
So sad again to go through loosing Bo. You would not be able to live there without the skill Eric has with fixing things. My you both have a blessed Easter. He is Risen.
Your videos are National Geographic worthy!!! You have always and continue to be my favorite You Tube channel. Don’t even watch TV anymore (except for movies) Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Easy? Make things look easy? I think they show true pioneer spirit and darn hard work. Always done with a smile and love to get through. Never easy peasy. Miss Bo. Blessings and prayers to your hard working souls 💖
It's really refreshing to see you guys talk about the real issues you run into. Too many channels try to glorify the off grid lifestyle, it's great to hear you be honest about the down sides too
Just watched your winter compilation. My husband and I found your channel just after you moved to Alaska, we called you the kids, I’d say, “ The kids dropped a new video.” Sadly after 60 years and a month my sweet husband passed away, then a week or two later I saw that Bo was gone and cried and cried. Loss is not easy but we need to find joy in the future. Keep up your good work.
So sorry for your loss! For me, it took awhile for my loved ones' deaths to hit - years in some cases. I won't really stop grieving - not 'til I see them in Heaven some day. God Bless you!
Losing Beau is like a shot to the heart. Such a wonderful dog and companion. So he is off to Doggie Heaven and our heart breaks. RIP big guy you will be missed by so many thousands of followers. What a sweetheart of a pup! RIP!
MY FAVORITE COUPLE , a look about a year in Alaska, serving a year in there eyes to show us what they do to make it. Love them and pray they always have a good year without any major problems.❤❤👍🙏 As I know they will make it.
Seeing Pepper with his little pink tongue sticking out while watching the bird in the window feeder was darling! It was good to see old Bo again. I'm quite certain he's got his wings. I imagine while the Northern Lights are dancing around, old Bo is flying amongst them having the best time. As I've said before, there are no two better people than you both when it comes to taking care of your animals & giving them the love & respect they deserve. Love you both! 💜😊
When you started talking about Bo I broke down and cried, you were crying I was crying and probably everyone else was too. I've been following you for years except for when I didn't have a phone and you are my favorite couple 💜. Thanks to you I have found other Alaska channels but you will always be my favorite ( shhhh don't tell the other channels lol) I couldn't handle the extreme cold 🥶 like you all do. I remember years ago when I just happened to come across your channel and I'm so glad I did 💜. Have a wonderful Easter give Bandit a hug for me.
I always enjoy watching you videos. If I remember correctly, Bo was up in his senior years. Knowing how well you take care of your animals, Bo was blessed to be a part of your family. You can be proud of the loving, caring and exciting life you provided for Bo. You were very luck to have shared each others lives. Many Blessings going forward!!
As a fellow Interior Alaskan, the fact that a "winter challenges" video is nearly 90 minutes, condensed, is not a surprise. I look forward to this being an annual series. We miss Bo, too. Sorry for your loss.
The way you both work together, to tackle the hardships of living in Alaska, can be deceiving to others who think it LOOKS EASY! If Eric didn't have the extensive knowledge and ability to diagnosis and fix mechanical issues, and Ariel didn't have the drive, and willingness to work beside Eric, as a team, and meticulously plan for your garden and your food supplies, you couldn't make it look so easy. On top of everything you must do just to survive, you film, edit, and produce a video to share your adventures with us! Thank you for allowing us to peek into the window of your life, once a week. May you have many, many more years of good health and happiness together.
Thank you for sharing the day to day life through the fall, winter and early spring. I’m so sorry for the loss of your precious dog Bo. May God continue to bless you all.
Thank you for sharing this video with us. I know it was hard losing Bo, but this was a good way for us to say goodbye to him. Guys stay safe always.. Eric, I broke my back in 2017 at work, two years of rehab and I still have problems day to day. All it takes is 5 Seconds for your life to be changed forever. Please, Please, Please be safe. You have your bride that depends on you ❤❤😊😊❤❤
The good, the bad, and the sad. What a winter! Your ability to meet the challenges is still amazing to me. Blessings to the both of you and the animals, for the renewal of Spring. God bless, my UA-cam friends.❤
Just got to 1hour 11mins and Ariel you were so brave talking about Bo and I admit I am in tears although I had never met him I feel like he is one of the family and we have had and lost animals and know how the loss feels Bless you both I feel for you I have watched you since the beginning and just love your channel and thank you so much for all you do and shared thank you xxx Hope you both have a happy Easter xxxx
Sweet E & A my heart breaks for you all over again for losing Bo. In our house our pets are family members. I am so sorry. May spring come with new life and warm your hearts and and help with healing. I love watching your channel. Never give up.
It was nice to see Bo again. I’m glad Bandit is doing ok, I know he misses his bud. Your scenic and wildlife videography continues to blow me away. Second to none, thank you for sharing with us. ❤
Looooove the longer video. Great easter present. My heart still aches for you and Bandit. May Spring give you all the long awaited boost that you so deserve. Cannot wait for your garden content!
You guys are so wonderful. I work at a mental illness hospital and each time you release a video, I'm able to regroup and sooth some pain I absorb from working with the patients. You have touched so many lives across the globe. Thank you. I hope yer seedlings are growing well. God's love shine down on your plants for all you do for us!
Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote in one of her books, I think it was Farmer Boy, it was Almonzo's father favorite quote. "If it isn't the chickens, it's the feathers." Hang in there, spring is coming. Can't wait to see your new garden. ❤❤ To all! Lori from Oregon
You guys are an inspiration. Watching you live your lives and the struggles you go through is always an eye opening experience. It certainly makes the chores around my house look like peanuts. Bo was a beautiful pup and my heart goes out to you.
Winter in the colder regions of Alaska is brutal and super hard on vehicles, generators, and a host of other things, including people. Thank you for sharing that side of off grid life in the winter is like as well as some solutions you came up with. Fortunately, spring is just around the corner and we are hoping for a better one than last year 😊 Keep on rocking it!
A great visit to us to let us see just how it really is during winter in Alaska. I'm sorry that soo many things broke or hiccuped along the way. Losing Bo was so hard but we probably all have had to face that sometime during our lives but we all realize how hard it was for the both of you and Bandit. My big dogs are 11, 12 and 13. I look forward to your next visit.
I’m so so sorry about Bo, it’s such a heartbreaking time. My dog Lilly died 2 years ago now and if I’m honest I don’t think I’ll ever get over her passing. I’m sending healing prayers and lots of love to you both ❤ Sleep well Bo 💙
Thank you for this video, it shows the reality that life in Alaska is not always sunshine and rainbows. If someone I loved was in excruciating pain, I would want to end their pain, and I assume that's why you loved Bo enough to release him from it. The machines we've come to rely on are not made for 40 degree below zero weather, so you are adapting, and at war with the cold. You are brave souls, and every day your courage helps us motivate to get through our own struggles. Looking forward to this spring, new gardens, and nicer weather!
If ever there is a contest for UA-cam cinematography YOU WOULD DEFINITELY WIN!!! YOU BLESS US WITH YOUR MUSICCHOICES AND WHAT YOU ARE RECORDING!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY ❤!!!!!!
That must be absolutely awesome to be able to see the northern lights. What a spectacular phenomenon. These things are here to test us, generator problem and all of the other things that go wrong. At least you will be more prepared for next winter. Try keeping spare parts for the parts that are vulnerable to going wrong. Personally I can’t wait for summer. It has done nothing but rain here in the uk all autumn and winter. And it sucks..👍❤️👍
Wow! What a season you guys marched through this time! You handled it all with the typical appropriate level of common sense, calm and grace in each instance. You two make a very impressive and formidable team! Great work!
Bo KNEW! (He was a wise old soul. Missing that boy with you) Bandit's ready! Pepper be like: "Iz kold gis lukin out de windo." For the 20 winters I spent in Alaska, 10 of which were in the Arctic, the darkness was what was the hardest part for me. Sure, the cold was brutal, but that lack of sunlight takes its toll on your mood, especially WAY up north when the sun sets in November and doesn't come back up until March. It's good to hear that Bandit's bouncing back from losing his pal.
This was our first Winter in Central Alaska, after moving North from Homer. -50F was a first. What a learning experience! Every engine, snow machines, cars, diesel Mercedes camper van, protested due to the extreme cold. A humbling experience but beautiful landscape. Next year, we will be more prepared.
Happy Easter to our Alaska friends ❤️. Wish we had moved there when we were younger. So proud of you both! Precious Bo is playing joyfully in heaven's gardens. Xo!
Wow, a heavy winter season but hopefully, a fantastic Spring and summer. Sad to see you go through losing dear Bo again. I was surprised to hear you lost the bees…you must have really been lucky with the previous winters with them. They are absolutely fascinating insects. Bo will always be remembered as a sweet, gentle soul, loved by all your followers.
Your compassion is great. How you care is beautiful. You desire to continue through the pain. I know what it means to lose something you care about, but you showed no fear!❤ Your photography is extraordinary. It really shows what you guys see in Alaska and thank you for sharing! You guys chose. I think it amount of all the states to live in the one that requires the most grit the most energy and to give the time that you guys have to your place. I admire your tenacity! You guys stay warm. Stay safe and farewell❤❤😅😅😅😅😅😅
what an amazing journey you take us on. I live in the mountains at 8500 elevation and I will NEVER complain about my cold again! I cannot begin to imagine the time this masterpiece took to edit but please know every single bit is so very appreciated tho it was bittersweet to see footage of Bo 💔. thank you! In the words of the late, great T.Turner, you are simply the best...better than all the rest!
Thank you for this fabulous video, loved every minute. Yes, you’ve chosen a challenging life in Alaska but you both seem to thrive and for those of us who watch every video we appreciate all your effort in putting out such amazing content, looking forward to the summer right along with you. 🤗
There were struggles, but I think you made it through your first winter, at your new place, really well and your progress has been amazing to watch. My heart still aches for a Border Collie we lost to failing health over 18 years ago. We got to know all of our pets so well, and they knew us. They were family. It's always hard, and heartbreaking, and your loss is still fresh in your memory. Life does go on though, and you still have animals counting on you and more adventures ahead. Welcome Spring! 🌹🪻🌺
I just love you guys. Happy Spring…? We’re pushing 80° in Oklahoma today, and we’ve already got the storm shelter ready. What one goes through is so different vs others. Thank you for bringing the stark differences to light. It makes me grateful for what we have, and I love learning about things I do not know, aka, lots of snow and cold. 😂
@@JustMeeee2hello! I'm from Tulsa!! Originally from Siloam Springs Arkansas!! Have been visiting my children in Ft Worth Texas and it's supposed to storm there too!!
I am so sorry to hear about beau but what a wonderful life you gave him. The joy of seeing those huge dogs run ahead and enjoy life you can go back and just see the freedom that you gave them Thank you for this beautiful video. By the way, the northern lights were spectacular.
Thank you for bringing us back over this time period. I totally understand how it feels to lose a pet, a member of the family. It’s devastating. I understand, just lost a beloved doggo myself, thanks for filling in the blanks. Always love your videos I’m with you thru the good and hard times! Your challenges do come across in a very positive way. I respect and love you all. I learn a lot from you guys. My heart will remain with you for ever, seriously! My favorite Utubers ! Always best wishes from me. I want nothing but the best for my favorite couple!
Hard to watch all the trials you had getting through this first winter, they were really tough. But then you have so many beautiful experiences that you share with us, you make it so easy for us to rejoice with you. Thank you. You certainly make us realize just how easy life in the lower 48 can be.
I always sit here, nodding along as though I had the faintest idea of what you're talking about, and I love every incomprehensible second. Yamalube? Absolutely. Thank you so much for everything.
Wow! You have once again, knocked its out of the park!!!!! The videography, photography, musical score, just beautiful!!!!!! Thank you so much for a really lovely experience😊
So sorry to hear of Bo's passing. My heart goes out to you guys. I remember Bo and he was a fun dog and I know you guys gave him his best life. Until next time much love and many prayers. 💖💖
So so sorry for your loss, they aren’t pets, they’re a friend, got tears in my eyes as I type… I said good bye to a life long friend 2 days ago… I feel what you are going through. My thoughts are with you both - Melbourne Australia
It's always one of the best moment of the week for me when I watch your videos. The drone footages are amazing. My heart felt for you when you talked about Bo 😢 I shed tears with you. Thanks for sharing my friends!
Nothing more impressive than you two thinking ahead about content and things we really are curious about. You are well loved by the following you have!
So sorry for your loss! It's like they are your children, you love then all the same! He was a handsome fur baby. Whether it's a cat, dog, pet chicken, it's never easy to lose something you love. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. ❤❤❤❤
Best damn video of the week. But.... I look forward to seeing your videos every week. I just don't see how you two don't win some video awards with the stunning nature clips you have! Keep em coming!!
I am in awe at all the repairs that Eriv does so that you two can live there! Eric remains so calm at each dilemma, that amazes me, i did not see anything like that growing up, so thank you!! Your toughest part was losing Bo. Each of the pets add so much to our lives, but when they leave, they take a large part of our hearts with them!! Blessings as you persevere in a very harsh environment!! But, i am so glad that you have each other!!
Wow amazing coverage of winter months. Thank you for sharing your journey, gives a realistic picture of the challenges. Have to be handy like you both to survive, thats for sure. My heart goes out to you all for Bo, so hard to lose our fur family.
Great to reminisce - thanks for sharing again with us your winter. Always admire the way you share so openly your trials and tribulations with us all - looking forward to seeing you progress through your projects as the spring and summer evolve. Best wishes for Easter.
Do you think maybe to add a transfer room onto the front of your house, so you don't have that direct cold air flow out the front door? It would give you a room to exchange your winter clothes, etc. Maybe next year. You guys have so much on your plate, all the time. But we love watching you guys share your life with us.
I was thinking the same thing about air transitions, and also for controlling the wet/mud from boots, and keeping the cat door from collecting too much ice.
It's what I remember from travels to Nordkapp, Lapland and Finland but also the High Alp's. There's always a small, sometimes semi-, closed space before you open the actual door to the house
This was a great "so you think you want to go off-grid in Alaska" moment, lesson learned Again, really good video with real problems, real emotions and real joy. Thanks too for the update on the loss of Bo and how all are handling it. It's so tough to love our beloved companions. Thanks for sharing.
You two are amazing, efficient, and inspirational. You show folks how to appreciate and work hard for what you need to survive in its purest form. Going to miss seeing Sir Bo on the upcoming fishing and gardening videos.
So moving to see you cry over the loss of your beloved dog Bo. I’ve been crying for a week now since our own dearest Shepard Bas died last Monday, I’m sure they meet and play together as all dogs go to heaven. Thank you for sharing your grief, it helps to move on and remember the gift our dogs gave us Ariel❤ greetz from Holland.
Your choice of music with the clip of winter scenery was absolutely beautiful. Well done to the two of you to get through winter, enjoy your Spring as we are going into Autumn. All the best Auckland New Zealand
I have been catching up on your past videos and although I saw this when you posted it I am again in tears over Bo and the beautiful life he had with you. He was such a sweet soul and seemed so noble. I have missed him in your videos.
The new video was amazing . Our heart ❤️ breaks on your loss of Bo . Seems like the past winter surely had it struggles for you guys ,but you always prevail 🙏 Happy Easter guys
I started watching you guys in 2020. I immediately felt so much love for Bo and he was my absolute favorite good boy. I only knew him through the internet but I really cared for him and it’s sad to hear of his passing. I hope all of your indoor animals are ok in his absence and adapt to the new family dynamics. Hugs and kisses to all your animals!
Much love to you both. Of course I miss Bo, as I learned to love him also. Beautiful music on this awesome video. Hope to be with you for a long time. Stay safe and happy.
I've actually seen -69 in Fairbanks. I remember walking 3 or 4 blocks to the post office. I had all the winter gear on with the exception of coverall pants. By the time I got there, my thighs were frozen. The worst part was I had to walk back home.
Y'all it wasn't an easy winter losing Bo among many other struggles but we persevered and came through the other side. Break up season is just around the corner now. We hope you enjoy this video sharing some of our challenges this winter season, we're happy it's over and can only hope we are stronger because of it! 💜💚💙

Eric must be a genius to keep all these things running so well.
Seems there is nothing he can't fix.
Eric is a jewel, for sure…and Ariel is what holds it all together. Thanks for an honest look at the harshness of winter in your part of the world.

Lovely message. So sorry for your loss. Sending hugs and warm thoughts from South Africa 🇿🇦 ❤️
The look on Eric's face when the repaired generator wouldn't start was priceless. 😊
For real! It's doubly frustrating when you think you've solved a problem and then... nope. UGH!
I've been there many times.
You might need a seperate grounding plug for that kohler generator. We needed one for ours to plug in the rv.

Bless you both I feel for you
I have watched you since the beginning and just love your channel and thank you so much for all you do and shared thank you xxx
Hope you both have a happy Easter xxxx
Sweet E & A my heart breaks for you all over again for losing Bo. In our house our pets are family members. I am so sorry. May spring come with new life and warm your hearts and and help with healing. I love watching your channel. Never give up.
Bo had a fantastic life with you guys he will always be part of our lives
It was nice to see Bo again. I’m glad Bandit is doing ok, I know he misses his bud. Your scenic and wildlife videography continues to blow me away. Second to none, thank you for sharing with us. ❤
Over 1 hour video , yes please 🎉🎉
For someone who can’t get enough of watching you guys, this video was a treat!!! Thank you!! Thank you!!
"If it isn't the chickens, it's the feathers."
Hang in there, spring is coming.
Fortunately, spring is just around the corner and we are hoping for a better one than last year 😊
Keep on rocking it!
The drone shots and video of the landscape and wildlife are absolutely stunning. ❤️
I’m so so sorry about Bo, it’s such a heartbreaking time. My dog Lilly died 2 years ago now and if I’m honest I don’t think I’ll ever get over her passing. I’m sending healing prayers and lots of love to you both ❤
Sleep well Bo 💙
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY ❤!!!!!!
Great work!
Good morning these scenes blew my breath away so beautiful peaceful love,I just feel like crying my eyes out God bless us all ❤️🙏🙏😃😃👍🦘🇦🇺🙏☘️☘️☘️👮♀️
Sorry to hear about Bo. I agree with what someone else said about getting him a companion. Animals grieve too. R.I P. Bo. 😢
I know what it means to lose something you care about, but you showed no fear!❤
Your photography is extraordinary.
Hi my favorite couple in Alaska so happy to see you.Eric is always working on a new project. Stay blessed ❤❤
I never miss your videos, you both are very courageous . It's good that he is so handy in fixing things or your winter would be much harder.
what an amazing journey you take us on.
I am also in Ok...Tulsa here. Living off-grid is some tough life
😅
Hi from Watts, Oklahoma!
@@JustMeeee2hello! I'm from Tulsa!! Originally from Siloam Springs Arkansas!! Have been visiting my children in Ft Worth Texas and it's supposed to storm there too!!
These Movie Length videos are wonderful! The cinematic shots are amazing. Your talents are not lost on your fans. Great Work!
I am so sorry to hear about beau but what a wonderful life you gave him. The joy of seeing those huge dogs run ahead and enjoy life you can go back and just see the freedom that you gave them Thank you for this beautiful video. By the way, the northern lights were spectacular.
Happy Easter 🐇 Eric & Arielle! Thanks for the memories and I hope God continues to bless you both! ❤❤
Thank you. You certainly make us realize just how easy life in the lower 48 can be.
always something around a homestead...tx for showing us a year at a glance
I always sit here, nodding along as though I had the faintest idea of what you're talking about, and I love every incomprehensible second. Yamalube? Absolutely. Thank you so much for everything.
Wow! You have once again, knocked its out of the park!!!!! The videography, photography, musical score, just beautiful!!!!!! Thank you so much for a really lovely experience😊
So sorry to hear of Bo's passing. My heart goes out to you guys. I remember Bo and he was a fun dog and I know you guys gave him his best life. Until next time much love and many prayers. 💖💖
Wow the amount of maintenance in winter is very intensive, you defintely have to be a jack of all trades
So so sorry for your loss, they aren’t pets, they’re a friend, got tears in my eyes as I type… I said good bye to a life long friend 2 days ago… I feel what you are going through. My thoughts are with you both - Melbourne Australia
That was so cool getting to see Bo again the drone shots are great Eric 🐝
It's always one of the best moment of the week for me when I watch your videos. The drone footages are amazing. My heart felt for you when you talked about Bo 😢 I shed tears with you. Thanks for sharing my friends!
What a great compilation of what it takes to survive and thrive through the Alaskan winter. Thanks for bringing us along. Come on breakup! Cheers.
Nothing more impressive than you two thinking ahead about content and things we really are curious about. You are well loved by the following you have!
Loved seeing Bo again in this video. Give Bandit a hug and a treat for us.
@@Irene-ym7bx Yes. Often the same here in Canada too.
Called an arctic entry
This was a great "so you think you want to go off-grid in Alaska" moment, lesson learned Again, really good video with real problems, real emotions and real joy. Thanks too for the update on the loss of Bo and how all are handling it. It's so tough to love our beloved companions. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for giving us a feel of a real Alaska life this past winter. Enjoyed this video so much and was a real joy to see Bo again.
You two are amazing, efficient, and inspirational. You show folks how to appreciate and work hard for what you need to survive in its purest form. Going to miss seeing Sir Bo on the upcoming fishing and gardening videos.
Your beautiful photography absolutely moves me! The geese in that icy water are stunning!
Oh, Bo 🙏
I'm crying and I never cry.
The new video was amazing . Our heart ❤️ breaks on your loss of Bo .
Seems like the past winter surely had it struggles for you guys ,but you always prevail 🙏 Happy Easter guys
Wow, earlier I was hoping you guys would drop a video today and here it is. Bonus, it is over an hour long. Can't wait to watch ❤
Not a challenge you both cant figure out. You guys are my fav team❤
What an amazing video, thank you for sharing your experience with us! Again, my deepest condolences to you on the loss of Bo. Hugs to Bandit.
