I have had a Pocket 4K for a few years. I do not need to upgrade, for the image is just perfect so far. 4 years later I see so much new bling. I have not outlived this camera.
Couldn’t agree more. Just shot a western short film on a fully rigged out pocket 4K with vmount, speed booster and ef cine lenses. We‘re more than happy with the results. The pocket 4K is also an absolute work horse for live-streaming. Here’s a trailer for our Western if anyone is interested: ua-cam.com/video/1RqwkagXcQE/v-deo.html
Would you recommend using a power bank mounted to the hot shoe for increased battery life? I am curious as I have seen some great small form factory power bank batteries which seem like they would allow for all-day shooting
Hi and thank you very much for your video, I would like to know if you have a video, or plan to do one with the settings, used to get those images like that, looks super good, Thanks!!!
I have a bunch of davinci resolve tutorials that show you my post production workflow. But due to the request I’ll go live with an own masterclass pretty soon
@@pauleporterdp Interesting. I have a 4K, and indeed it's difficult to imagine how a 6K could be anything but marginally more filmic, if at all. Thanks for your perspective.
I'll add more pros of the BMPCC4k: faster rolling shutter (less jello), wider lens selection due to ability to use many different speedboosters and dummy adapters - this also means smaller crop factor with the speedboosters than the P6k.
Genau! 100% with you man, I'm falling in love with mine all over again - I did the Tilta Mod with tilting screen and SSD, plus I'm using the Smallrig NPF mounted on the left. Using with an NPF970 it acts as a handle and lasts all day. Have the speedbooster XL x.64 and just discovered the Sigma 30mm f1.4 EF-S which I'm about to purchase but interestingly it can be used on FF too, so will adapt it on my A7 III. Old school tech working fine here with this Welshman in Athens, formerly in London and caught up in the ridiculous kit race. BMPCC4K and BRAW will probably never stop providing great footage - how much more resolution can our eyes see and this sensor sings! Tschüss!
Can you let me know where did you get your tilta model with tilting screen? I'm looking for someone to get it done for me as my hands are too big and they shake too much but I can't find anyone.
The GOAT. Still IMO has the nicest image out of all the Pocket Cinema Cameras and the full frame Cinema Camera 6K as well. Just something pleaseing about the image.
Hello. Do you consider this valid for 2024? And for real estate (specially with strong highlights vs shadows, interior/ exterior), and if possible, speedbooster i know metabones has a specific bmpcc4k but also know mft version... Which one you recommend or is best? Thank You
@@pauleporterdp i've been divided between fx30 which is almost 1800 eur +speedbooster (compared to used BMPC4kk full kit almost same price)... I'm used to sony also. Also concerned about increased amount of filesize with BRaw. Real Estate at Portugal they don't pay much...
It's a good camera, it's just getting a little long in the tooth. It's almost 6 years old now, it needs a refresh or even a mark 2 to revitalize the entry level lineup to get new aspiring cinematographers excited to use Blackmagic cameras.
Having GAS syndrome, I I've been checking other cameras regularly for past 2 years. My conclusion is always the same: for the price, there is NO other camera that gives same great image quality as BMPCC4k, user friendly workflow etc.
Servus Paule, For Multicam fix angle the BMPCC4K is a beast probably just beaten by the new mini pocket 4K for 999$ the cube mft camera blackmagic offers which have the same sensor and could be grewt for live features becaus of SDI 12G connections and Braw SSD recording in the same time. The P4K sensor is 1.8x crop slightly bigger than stwndart mft so more like the GH5s. It is native 4K resolution so 8 Mpixel The P6K sensor is a 6 K 24Mpixel resolution with 1.6 crop... Imho the pixel size in P4K is bigger vs the 6K . It could be whynyou think it is less digital vs the P6K I have both and I understand what you mean. About native Handheld 12-35 and 35-100 Pana 2.8 are great to have because of the stabilisation...small and compact. What about stabilisation are you using Gyro (imho no really better vs usual digital stab in Resolve) for me mercalli V6 is Top? Great review just missed one P4K for 650 CHF used...it would have been my 3 camera...
@@pauleporterdp In all fairness, the only real difference between an FX3/30, R5C and a GH5 is the GH5 doesn't have a C or Cinema written on the body, and the only real reason the pocket is a cinema camera is because Blackmagic says it is.
Having internal NDs is always great I agree but unfortunately the internal nds don’t cut IR completely which means you need filters in front of the lens anyway. Also 6 stops ND is sometimes not enough when it’s bright outdoors

100% agree with yah. For me the 4k res is a perfect size for me, doesn't fill up a huge amount of space and can edit it easily without lagging.
Thanks for watching. I’m glad that you like it

I’m not sure if they will have enough amps to power the camera. But it’s worth a try.
Great video! When using a sennheiser mke 600 what audio setting do I use for the black magic 4k? Ty
Thanks 🙏🏻
I don’t use any specific just plugging in the mic and then levelling the audio 😊

Totally agree, great camera and very affordable. How did you Color Grade the Footage you showed? Any preferred Luts?
Thanks 🙏 I use my own Luts that I created for Blackmagic but also just a simple CST.
Thanks. You said you prefer the 4`k over the 6K. Did you say why? I may have missed that.
Yes I did and the reason is that the sensor or the image of the 6k doesn’t look as filmic as the 4k in my opinion.
