Now you are talking. The explanation and the showing of the parts and your explanation is exactly what a lot of us are looking to see
Now you need to show and tell us some after market prices as well as some prices for the kits and the installations
I know this is an older video. Yes I watch them more than once lol... did you ever decide what type of forced induction your going with
No decision yet - I want to see how this setup does N/A first
@@RTLife how much is the installation fee
@@RTLife and I was looking at the Arrington 392 so I was wondering what’s the typical installation fees
Amen RT No replacement for Displacement my brother.
Agreed!
@@RTLife Totally mate.

LOL - good old Michael Scott!
I absolutely love your channel. You explain everything for all the mopar V8's & I like that. It brings all the SRT guys & 5.7 guys together. Well done. I own a 06 300 SRT8 & I come to your channel for ideas.
Your videos are awesome, man. So awesome they make me want to void my warranty and just put on whatever I want. Dangerous!
LOL! I felt your pain man. Once that warranty it up it's game on. Thank you
Yes, I found this helpful. I've got a 5.7 in my '05 Ram 2500 Power Wagon and it's got 187,xxx on it.
Awesome job on the build, its very satisfying putting your own stamp on your vehicle. Whether its a 5.7 or 6.4, seeing the evolution of a stock vehicle to completing the "wish list" is very rewarding. One side note, the 5.7 does offer a 412 stroker as well, I know this because that's what my build was based on.
I didn't know that - good stuff! That's a nice sized displacement. I agree with you on watching the progression of a car- regardless of which one you have. It's a fun hobby (expensive but fun!).
Do you have to bore the engine to stroked kit parameters or is that what the stroker kit avoids?
It's the Holiday season ,Christmas is just around the block ,SO for the VIEWERS ,Take a second and HIT THAT THUMBS UP ,on these videos...Its a small but simple way of saying Merry Christmas/Happy New year.........
Merry Christmas to you & the family as well! Thank you for always supporting the channel
Cant wait for the spring to come, lol ,looking forward to the new and improved R/T
Man I cannot wait to pay my daily off and go full send on a stroker haha
Make the ride so damn unique! plus the added power is awesome
A great veiw! and a exciting build! Nicely done bud!!
Thank you very much!
Love To watch and Hear Your materials. Great, and thank You for upload.
I really appreciate it
R/T life I support my brother....great videos,keep them coming.....
You are the man - thank you fro the support!
Was looking at the exact same setup. The 392 Arlington kit and a 2.9l whipple super charger for my 5.7
Great video! Very informative and thanks for showing the prices of the different kits.
I knew this wouldn't be popular but it may help some down the line - thanks man
Thanks I knew arrington is one of the best In stroker kits for mopar, being a nascar builder, but don't forget indy cylinder heads they are masters to for mopar stroker kits and engine builders too, just thought you should know, oh I love what you did to ur rt, I'm still thinking a 2016 or 2017 rt , Daytona, something I can afford and upgrade. Love your channel, keep up the good work, Elmhurst queens out.
It's so true... So many people love to compare smaller boosted engines to N/A larger displaced motors and it's just not apples for apples... Compare the motors without the power adders or with... Not the other way around!! A smaller displacement will never be able to match the torque of the larger motors and that's what gets you moving out of the hole!!! As usual sir... Great content!!
Exactly!
Yea bro your doing this right
Thank you - I'm trying! We will see how it all plays out
When you add super charger sky is the limit. Once you pass 500whp you'll be super happy
Now you’re talking my language ..I love building engines😎💯 It’s all about horsepower😏👍Great video
It's awesome seeing a build slowly progress! Thank you
R/T Life you’re welcome
Awesome content as always brother. Would like to get more info on transmissions. We build and build on our motors but tend to forget what helps put that power to the wheels. Again, awesome content. Keep it coming 💪
So true - all the content is really about building up power. I guess I'm just waiting to upgrade myself before offering up an opinion. Usually when I'm looking to do a modification is when I begin researching the best options. I will def address transmissions, torque converters etc. at some point.
@@RTLife sounds awesome. Again, awesome content brother. Huge fan
I really liked this video. Thanks man.
I really appreciate the support - glad this was helpful or entertaining
Man great information and details👍
Thank you very much
Thanks for the video, I was trying hard to understand.
Great video bro the car will definitely have a lot potential no replacement for displacement
You know what I'm talking about. If an eco boost tries messing with you - it's a joke! You take him to gapplebees
R/T Life lol thanks bro but your car will be no joke. That will take many of us to gapple bees.
Great video!! Very informative too!!
You can go bigger with a crankshaft all from 3.593-4.250 crankshaft and fit in a 5.7 hemi. You can go bigger then a 410 something like 419 or maybe bigger. Piston are not the only thing that gets you a bigger liter engine but great video
Hell yeah man good video.
Thank you - def appreciate it!
I kind of like the idea of the 6.2 / 5.7. Gives you a better rod ratio from 5.1 with a 392 to a 5.7 ratio with the 378 - 382. Using the right pistons and a 6.2 rod gets you a 5.9 rod ratio.
This I generally agree with as true and solid advice (I am also a Big Block Chevy guy as well as mopar) I once went a totally different direction with a small block Chevy build for my 72 Chevelle: Big name brand block bored .060 over, Forged TRW racing pistons, Perfect circle Plasma Moly rings, I used a forged 327 Crank in 350 block. Meticulous Balance, O-Ringed heads, Heavily reworked ported Camel hads with Big valves/triple springs bumped with a Crane custom grind solid lifter cam 575 x 300 duration, Milodon Gear Drive, MSD Ignition, Weiand Tunnnel Ram With 2 Holly660 Center squirters with 50cc pumps, dual 1/2 fuel lines from 2 HUGE pumps. Under the intake I had a hidden 225 HP Direct Port injection NITROUS. Full manual Turbo 400 Trans with 4000 Stall converter, 12 Bolt Posi with 5:13 gears and street slicks. This tiny motor would bury a 10K tach as fast as a street bike, pull the front wheels off the ground of a huge Car, and DESTROY almost every car at the local street races which occured every friday and saturday in 1986 here in California. I did this build because making big power fom big engines was easy, the reason I built it was to do somthing different and build it WITH EVERY ITEM MATCHED CARBS,TRANS,AXLE RATIO, EVERYTHING... Yes it's old school but I was 21. ⭐️ My point is PLAN, PLAN and PLAN again, EVERY componant from the air cleaner to the rear tires should be well thought out and MATCHED. I see so many people who have no plan and put a bunch of mismatched parts together and wonder why it's not so great. sorry for the long story. ⭐️I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL, I have two builds going for myself a 5.7 and a 6.1⭐️ I am doing them VERY different than most and taking video as well, maybe I will send you the vids after. Thanks for the great fantasic channel!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
You can email me anytime RTLifeMopar@gmail.com - I would def like to check out the builds. I really appreciate the support
Nice break down of everything

This man the RT god father ‼️‼️
Good explanation of the strokers kits. Next few years I will be doing mine fingers crossed
Learning as I go! This stuff is a lot of fun. You will enjoy getting that increased displacement
Awesome video thanks man
Great Info!
Thank you!
Hope all is well brother. Congrats on your build's progress. Will be fun for sure. My stroker and exhaust setup are going in less than 3 months from now. Should make the whipple happy. Keep grinding
How big of a stroker are you going with? Yah this is going to get you low 11's easily.
@@RTLife 392. Not going full send on it for a bit though - plan is to run the car at ~625whp until I can beef up the drivetrain, then I'll "just" need to add a proper pulley kit and I can go crazy with the boost
You think the trans will hold up making 625whp?
You have roots type blower so you're making a lot of torque as is off the line. I was thinking vortech etc. because there isn't much torque gain off the line.
@@RTLife certainly possible it could not, but.... 🤞 🤙
I’m heading towards the 396 route for my 5.7. Cam, pistons, crank . Run Hellcat long tube headers, larger throttle body, with a pro charger.
Do the hellcat throttle body as well. That is going to be an awesome setup - big time power!
Can’t do the throttle body because I have a 2012. But I can go up to 87. But I believe I might be able to go bigger. Will update as I go!! Thanks for the Vids!! I post some to my Car Club Page
Great video! I want to stroke out my 08 Jeep GC SRT to a 426 or 440 been doing so research on the many builds out there and talking to my mechanic Shittt only problem is I stay in Cali and it won’t pass smog go figure so my mechanic talking bout supercharger I don’t know man
You can gain alot more from a na stroker build than what you made. You are optimized for boost so your gains while significant are not the most you can make
Keep in mind I have every bolt on imaginable - so the stroker is getting a lot of help from the pieces around it. Long tube headers, 3" catback, manifold, hellcat throttlebody, intake, ported heads, cam etc...
@@RTLife your still not making near the power of a N/A stroker build. Boost engines make less power when not combined with boost.
@@saulcruz9024 Can you boost an N/A striker build once it’s built?
@@guardiandogoargentinos1385 i think you cant coz the scat cant handle it and it was built for NA
Short video, but a great one. I think you should incorporate more of these educational videos. I think it makes for great content, not a lot of time spent editing the videos and people will look it up especially if you tag them like " How does a stroker kit work" or "basics of a stroker kit".
Thank you! Def appreciate it man. Hoping this helps some people looking into this stuff
@@RTLife it's always great help! You don't understand how much so many have learned watching your videos. Hell, I can talk like I know stuff cuz of it lol. The key is making learning fun and you've hit that, it's great!
Honda the best bang for your buck to go fast easy to work on. I have a scat pack few small mods runs 11.9. On street tire. Also built a honda buying honda and building it na for under 2500 also running 11.9.
The 392 has the higher ceiling. BUT that's pretty damn impressive for a honda n/a build
@@RTLife about to spend about 4k to take the honda na to the mid low 10s. Its prob the cheapest cars to make fast turbo even cheaper. But na always upsets people at the track beat a hellcat last year at the track with my faster street na honda not cut full int full exh cage drove to the track and got him to loose over 2k in the 1/4 hondas set up right easy money makers at the track.
I have also owned over 30 old school mopars and still have a love for them my scat pack my first modern mopar :)
Two inquiries.
1. Do you have a good source that shows/lists the differences between blocks? Do the 6.1 and 6.4 have MDS and VVT? External dimensions the same, same heads and accessories correct? Deck height the same? Is it just the cylinder casting?
2. Why invest so much in a 5.7 vs buying a 6.1 or 6.4? It's not terribly hard to find a wrecked srt8.
I just got my scat and watching this vid not a good combination lol good vid keep it up im having a blast big difference from 5.7 to 6.4
Congrats man on the new scatpack - enjoy it man!
My 92 GMC typhoon 4.3ltr is bored out to 60 over bigger piston and rings bigger precision pte44 turbo . Cost is high to just do a supercharger on my 2010 Jeep SRT 8. love your build👌
yah it's pricey doing this stuff! The power though is so much damn fun hahaha. Sounds like a nice build you have going on.
@@RTLife yeah but it's never had a good tune . I have cam, heads done , other goodies, but never had a good Chip to run the OBD1 computer so this winter I finally got it just have to install it. Thanks for the response.
Been say'n that for years....😎💯
It's so true!
Strange I dont always get your new videos notification ... clicked and un clicked the bell a couple of times

@@RTLife yea I check your channel that's how I see the new vids but it sometimes does not come in my feed... look into that .. somethings not right becuase I get updates from other channels without a problem
I'm building a 431 cid from a 5.7. infact if this motor nets what I want I will build a second 431 with a Wilder cam and more compression
So, when are you going to start cruising your Charger?
Also, when is your approximate date for the supercharger? Are you going to choose Whipple? Thanks for all you do. I appreciate all of your content.
I am hoping this week - we will see. in regards to the supercharger, not really sure. I have to save up & see how it plays out. Likely going with a centrifugal force setup
I like this channel.
Thank you - def appreciate it
As a proud owner of a 440 i feel it's also important to note the 6.1 and 6.4 blocks are not identical and handle stroke a tad different.
Yah the 6.4 has a larger bore out of the gate. 440 - that's a big boy right there!
6.4 block also has more deck height allowing for either a longer rod or increased compression height when using the same stroke as a 6.1 block. Both are favorable and more important than bore size.
Would it be worth it to put a 6.1 in my r/t without the major work of stroking and boring the engine? Maybe a mild cam is all I would do
Hey man !!
You know the bore and stroke size on the. 06 6.1L block before and after adding the 426 stroker kit
Im trying to get the that done on my charger lol
I plan on going with a stroker kit undecided on what size I want to go with, but I wanted to know what exactly do you need to “stroke” your 5.7 I ‘ve been looking at parts online but I am unclear what exactly I need
Just picked mine up from the engine swap
How did it go?
396cid sounds damn good for a 5.7 hemi
yah it's a nice increase
I have a future plan for a Challenger R/T manual 5.7L
you said 410 is the biggest stroker you can get in a 345? if my plans are to not turbo /super charge it will this be my best kit? Will it be reliable?
@R/T Life - Were you tempted to go with a 6.4 block? You're right. There is no replacement for displacement. The more air and fuel you move, the more power you make. You can do it 3 ways or any combination of them. By pressurizing a cylinder with boost, you're artificially increasing displacement by adding more air and fuel to a cylinder. The stroker kit increases air volume. The 3rd method is moving air and fuel more efficiently. That's where larger throttle bodies, porting heads, and cams help.
RT my 2012 Charger got over 100k miles on it I’ve been waiting on your video about the stroker kits so now it’s time to rebuild the Hemi and make it a sleeper so question should I get the long tuber headers, manifold, 3 inch cat back and other bolt on first before purchasing the stroker kit ? Tax time around the corner and I’m so ready to get this project started Bro but being a novice to the muscle car world I wanta get things done right . Your an inspiration to the Mopar community Dude I’m on the A2SPEED.COM website now my finger is on the button sweating and I hear this voice saying push the button and order now!!! Darn you RT life !!! 😂 seriously thanks Bro for the info
LOL! You are the man. Thank you very much for the support. In your case I would start doing smaller bolt ons - long tube headers, exhaust, intake, hellcat throttle body - see how the RT is running after those. Then onto a Cam & stroker kit - while the engine is pulled apart might as well do both! I really appreciate the support - keep on enjoying that beast.
What sort of kit is best for huge torque just off idle for 4x4 driving?
Did the stroker kit still allow the VVT with a limiter or does the phaser need to lock out the VVT?
If you make a hemi 6.1 srt8 to a 426 that alone. What kind of bhp would that make.and would I still be the 4 second in my jeep srt8 wk1.
Does this work on my 5.7 hemi in the Durango 🤔 building my wishlist now 🤤
kits for money to hp aren't there but it sets you up to handle boost
the gains start to multiple off any other mod now too
I have a 5.7 and I don’t know if I should supercharge it or bore it out to a 6.1 first ? Also how much would that compromise the longevity of the engine ? It currently has 85k miles it’ll probly b around 90k by the time I can stop modding it
I would buy a cam kit, drop in pistons & rods, that will allow you run boost for big time power. Also need to account for fueling & transmission.
Wish i could find a shop in wisconsin that could do this for me
It's possible used same crankshaft 6.4 with this kit ? Thank you bro .
How much power do you usually get from a 6.1 stroked to 7.0
Would it be cheaper to add a stroker kit or cam kit?
Any website recommendations for a 6.4-7.0 kit?
I’m looking to put 500 hp to the wheels out of my 6.1 srt8. I’ve seen claims of that with just an upgraded exhaust a cam and a tune, sounds to good to be true but I really don’t know. Real world, what do you think it would take to do that? What do you think an exhaust cam and tune would really give the 6.1?
jacob clark that’s about right
What’s the highest compression you can run on a 426
Displacement can be made up for with forced air... but torque needs cubic inches
Can u just swap shortblocks too?
Can you keep your stock top end with the stroker kit?
So from what I gathered I can bore my 5.7 hemi block for 6.2 hemi correct
If you get a stroker kit for a 5.7 do you have to bore out your block for any kit you get?
Hello there! I do apologize if my question is silly? but can i just replace camshaft in my 392 to get a bit bigger displacement without replacing cylinders or boring block ?
The camshaft will make your 392 much more aggressive & better performance - but if you want a higher displacement you need to replace the pistons/crankshaft. You don't need to bore the block but many do to get to 426 or 440.
@@RTLife I heard it changes exhaust tone as well. Thank you very much for response! It’s impossible to find any definitive information in Moscow.
Actually lot of top racers are going small blocks with turbos because you can spin them faster
I mean the Drag Pack is a 5.8L & puts up 7.7 in 1/4 mile. I still think the larger displacement engine has a higher ceiling
I by no means. Am a pro racer . I’ve just seen them doing that while the nitrous engines get very large. When i was racing back in 80-90 i did like the small block for the weight. But did love the torque out of my big blocks also
Been considering stroking my 5.7 but am concerned about engine longevity if I do. Can we offset this kind of result to keep the engine healthy long term once an engine is stroked. Maybe forged internals 1st ??
Are you planning on keeping it N/A?
yes going to keep it NA
If you keep it N/A a stroker kit shouldn't compromise engine longevity. You're just replacing stock parts for stronger aftermarket pieces that will increase the displacement within the cylinders.
In your opinion is it better to stroke a 392 or just add bolt ons and boost? Which will result in a better outcome as far as performance wise?
Bolt ons with boost will have much better results
So if bolt on and boost have better results what’s will a 392 stroker do
Why the 6.1L hemi doesn't get love anymore? I barely see them too. I own a 2009 6.1l challenger myself on late stage 1 mods.
I think you answered your own question. No one ever sees them, they're pretty rare. Def great rides
What stroker kit can i use for my 2008 chrysler 300c?? An exactly what do i need to do
2009*
When you added your stroker kit and bore did you have to get your ecu retuned?
Yes you need a tune update
Nice man. Did I miss something? Was the cam changed again as well? And will it be forced air or is that a possible add later?
Yah I have a Jannetty Racing cam now! I wanted a little more CHOP CHOP :) But it's really a forced air cam - will work nicely once this thing is boosted.
i just wanna convert my 5.7 truck to a 6.4 so ill get the 392 kit and a stock 6.4 cam
I haven't seen anyone talk about the idea of adding a stroker kit and then nitrous instead of forced induction. I can't really afford to do the kit and a blower. But I can do the kit and a nitrous kit on top of that. That should be pretty good combo shouldn't it? Seeing that the stroker kits are forged.
Everyone does forced air. A stroker w/ nitrous would make some amazing power
@@RTLife you think so? I been trying to do some looking into it for the 392. Got a cammed Jeep SRT. Was thinking 426 stroker kit and then nitrous. Probably a 150 shot.
Im new to this whats a safe bore size to go with
depends - are you planning on supercharger? if so you don't want to much of a bore on the cylinders
I looked up A2speed.com, cause im shopping for the stroker kit for my 5.7; wich is what brought me to this video. But A2speed.com is down(under construction)🤦🏾♂️🤧
They might be updating it or something
If want displacement can stroke a viper to 9.0 that’s insane
Awesome video bro‼️ We should collab sometime😤💯
Are you close to NY?
R/T Life No, but I will be going out there next year
R/T Life I’ll be out there in like February. You think we could link up?
What’s a good kit for the 5.7 392 or the others ones
I went with Arrington 392 stroker kit
Physics is Physics could also be the title of this video. All things being equal, if an engine is one ci larger than another, it will always create more power.
Exactly
426 is good with boost .. but 440 adds to much stroke and rod angle with boost becomes a bit much stress on the rod ...440 n/a is safer and 426 for boost
Is it possible to do a 6.0L?
What does the labor look like to install a 5.7 stroker kit?
That's really where it starts getting expensive because they have to rip apart the entire engine. Depends on the shop around you.
It’s like 10k bro ... im going the forged 426 route
Saving this video link to shut these 4 cylinders always taking about a 4 cylinder can destroy an 8 cylinder 😂
Cnc Motorsports has stroker kits for under 3k
Not a bad price at all
Just keep in mind a 4 cylinder making similar power numbers will most likely gap you. Power to weight ratio is a very real thing. High hp is bad ass and everything, but you may need more to beat lighter cars with the similar # as you. Still a bad ass rt your building
Oh no doubt - I'm talking about the engine power ceiling. Give me a nice big v8 to build power with
This whole time I was thinking you got a whole new engine
I did. Was easier for them to work on a new engine while I was ripping around. They took my old engine.
But it’s still a 5.7 though?
Maybe I should look more into it before asking questions like these 🤔 still learning 📝
It’s a 5.7 block that got bored/stroked to a 6.5L. I could have done this to my prior setup but this was a sponsored build & this was the preferred route for everyone.
If you have any questions def let me know - I’m still learning as I go. You’re in good company
Boost is replacement for displacement.
You can always add forced air to a build - I will take the one with the largest displacement
What’s the difference between buying the whole stroker motor or just buying the stroker kit? Is it the same? I have an SRT8 6.4 and I wanna buy the biggest stroker kit with the most power output. Is it the same to buy the kit rather than the whole motor?
A stroker motor is an entire new engine. A stroker kit is the pieces you need to upgrade your own 392 engine. I think the largest is a 440 range
@@RTLife how about the 454? Is that the biggest displacement you can get out of a 6.4?
@@thuganomics7284 yes you can get 454 - you’re going to need a larger cylinder bore but you’re staying n/a it shouldn’t be a big deal. Most go with a 7.0L 426 so they can add boost down the line.
Awesome!!! Lemme sell a kidney and I'll slap one in my ram🤣🤣
hahahaha! I hear you - this is def a lot of $$$$
@@RTLife bro I've got my old 2004 dodge durango with the 5.7 hemi. I've had that thing for ever, it was my first car I bought on my own. I haven't drove it in years. It's just collecting dust at my parents house. Could i use that block to do a stroker kit? Or does it have to be a certain year or generation 5.7? I'd wanna go the same route you did, build an engine to boost in the future.
