Monitor your fridge from afar while checking the ambient temperature with the handy Wireless Fridge Thermometer from Companion.
This thermometer consists of a digital LCD receiver and a wireless transmitter and is easy to set up with x 4 AAA batteries included. Once it’s installed, position the transmitter centrally inside your fridge and allow approximately 30 minutes for both sensors to stabilise before an accurate reading within 1°C can be taken.

Had mine for two years now. The first set of batteries lasted a month. The Duracells I replaced with have been going strong for 6 months. When not in my fridge I have constantly on for in house ambient temperature with the sender under the front patio for outside temp so it is never off. Works great, recommended.
The o-ring on the sender is a bit flimsy so take it easy other than that no other con. Cheers Gaz

pretty good little unit, had mine for a year now, hasn't faulted and I have just replaced the first set of batteries in it, I'd recommend it

Have two for the different car fridges. It’s the best one on the market. Tried so many and they are rubbish in comparison, this just works and everytime

Hi, I have a question. I have two of these as we travel with 2 fridges without gauges. It seems like both sensors are reading the same fridge. How do I ensure the monitor is reading the correct sensor?
These are not individually coded Prue, so they will cross read if other sensors are close by. Nothing to be done on that I'm afraid. You might be ok if you had two different brands of wireless thermometer, the only other thought I have is wether or not your fridge has an app you can use.

Can you get a wireless thermometer that does duel zone fridges?
I haven't come across a single unit that does two different zones, but that doesn't mean there isn't one out there.
If you purchase two of the same brand they'll usually cross over each other signals in interfere with the reading, but two different brands would allow you to monitor the two different compartments.
Also worth checking if your fridge has a compatible app - alot of brands do these days, so you can monitor and control the fridge that way.

You can see the disappointment on the guy's face as he was probably expected the unit to immediately show negative-something values but forgetting the fact that once a fridge/freezer is opened, all that hours-long work to keep it below zero is gone in seconds and it will be a long time before his thermo can display those values.
I'm not sure what you are talking about, avcomth, the fridge was still at -8/-9 degrees after opening it, but I never expected the sensor to immediately show the same temperature as it needs time to cool from ambient to the internal temperature.
The internal temp of a fridge won't drop that much after simply opening the lid, especially if it is full of food that is also at the same internal temperature.

@@SnowysOutdoors Well since the thermometer was sensing ambient air temperature, once you open the lid of that cooler, all those cold air at -values rushes out completely, yes the wall of the fridge and any contents in it would still be around those values but not the cold air inside it that the sensor is meant to measure. So technically the delay is not from the sensor "waiting to be cooled down" but rather the whole atmosphere inside that cooler. Imagine a room in your house being cold from air conditioning in summer and suddenly you open the whole wall on one side-like a fridge door---even for a brief moment, more than 90% of the cold air would immediately escape as per laws of thermodynamics.
@@avcomth I don't think the sensor is sensing air temp at a specific time. The whole sensor needs to settle in the environment it is located before giving an accurate reading. Much the same way in which you need to wait for the mercury in a thermometer to settle before recording the temperature.
Opening the fridge may drop the air temp slightly, but if the lid is closed again soon after the air inside the fridge would cool down again much faster than it would take the sensor to warm up.
So, in this video, it will take a little while for the fridge to cool the sensor from the 20 odd degrees ambient down to -9 degrees.

Why would you want one of these when your fridge has a built in thermometer?
You can locate this remotely from your fridge, Jim, making it easy to monitor fridge temps whilst driving or in the tent. My fridge, for example, has the inbuilt thermometer located to the rear and it is mounted high on a shelf making it hard to see the display. A thermometer like this fixes the problem.

Yep and nothing worse than pulling up at camp and your fridge in the back hasn’t been running for for a few hours because your 12v socket connection has moved slightly and disconnected
