Thanks for posting! I got back from a few days out of town and my LG was growling loudly from time to time, and eventually got this error. I tried hitting it with a blowdryer, then blowing the blowdryer into the vents, then I followed your directions here. Like yours, there was no ice on the inside, and it spun freely. I put it back together and I am still getting the code. The fridge has two icemakers and the one down below in the freezer functions but the one in the door does not. Unplugging the fridge resets it for awhile but the code always comes back.Any ideas of what might be causing the problem? Does the fan need to be replaced? There appears to be two fans in there when I take off the back panel, which is which and which should I look at to replace? Or is it the icemaker in the door that is the issue? I feel like it's either that or being frozen burnt out the fan after awhile since we were gone and didn't hear it. Any advice appreciated!
Hello! When you unplug and defrost the fridge, if when you plug it back in and the error comes on immediately then you have probably have a bad fan, which fan I couldn't tell you. If the error doesn't come on right away but comes on over time, then you may still have ice buildup and I would completely empty out the icemaker and clean it out, then put it back together again.
Thank you!! This is a so much better method than defrosting the fridge. My fridge had two fans and got them spinning again with a hair dryer. Not bad for 15 minutes work and no tools besides a screwdriver.
My fridge shows 1F E also and there is no ice build up because I don’t have ice or water coming out of it nothing is working on the control panel and I removed like you showed and replaced it back on but the fan didn’t turn on. What can I do? Also I turned the entire fridge off for over 8 hours and was working fine the entire day then the next morning same issue.
The 1FE error is specific to ICE buildup. If you turned off the fridge, you are going to want to completely empty it out and leave all the doors open. But that will only guarantee clear the error. The problem could be caused by the door seals letting in air, or the fan is not working. You could test that fan to see if it needs to be replaced.
Brooo!! Big thanks to you!! There was so much ice that was clogged in there. Really helps to get the big chunks out with a blow dryer. Such a hassle, but I’m glad I got the job done.
Dude! So Awesome! Thank you. I just did the same for my fridge and it solved the issue. Mine had a second ice maker in the freezer and so there was a small plastic shroud that I needed to unscrew. It had two small philips head screws and it was was a little tricky to remove. Then I removed the entire back panel, run the hair dryer on the Ice Maker fan and it started spinning freely. As soon as I plugged in the last blue plug on the panel the error went away. Took all of 15 minutes. Thank you so much!!
First check the icemaker switch, maybe it got flipped off. Then check to see if there is a full switch that's triggered, it flipps when the ice tray fills up.
@@CarolinaCowboys huh ours just doesn’t want to seem to come of. I think we just may moved our stuff to our other fridge for the night and defrost it that way. Our model has the main fan and some other cooler thing on the left side and it’s frozen solid and it won’t make ice.
Thank you for posting this. I needed to see this a little more in-depth-to get at the fans (rather than just thawing for a few hours) really appreciate it amigo
Yes it would definitely fix it but then you'd have to put all your food somewhere while you are thawing out the fridge, and then you'd have a puddle of water behind the panel to clean up.
Not really. Thawing it out will just leave the moisture inside. You need to thaw it, and dry the moisture particularly around the fans (plural). The one in the center of the panel isn't the one that causes me all the problems, it's the smaller fan at the side. That needs to thaw and dry.
You might want to check if your doors aren't sealing properly because either moisture getting and freezing is causing the problem, or your ice machine is leaking.
Thanks so much for sharing this! Your video helped me have the confidence to dive into this repair, even though your frig isn't exactly the same as mine, the general idea was the same. I cheated, as once I had the fan panel off, I used a heat gun to melt the ice from the coils. ;-)
Awesome video. I really appreciate it, we jus that this issue happen and I just removed the inside without having to remove any screws, held a blow dryer by the vent in the back for about 3 minutes, wiped it down and closed it for about 10 mins, came back and it was working.
This video just really helped my family out big time. Our freezer fan was frozen solid and after thawing it out with a hair dryer we are back in operation!!! Plus we didn’t have to lose our food in the process. Thank you so much guys, God Bless
Did you have any problems after knocking off the ice and plugging it back in? I changed the fan motor, but still showing the error code. Just wondering if you had any other problems

I don't have the same refrig, but I also don't have any ice build up? What do you think I could do?
First check the icemaker switch, maybe it got flipped off. Then check to see if there is a full switch that's triggered, it flipps when the ice tray fills up.
Our cover for the back has no screws or no spots to get a screwdriver in any suggestions
It likely just pops out if you pull on it

Glad it was helpful. I would rather not have to move all my food to thaw things out so the quicker the better.
Hello, why did u need to disconnect/ reconnect the circuits? Ty
I only did that to take everything out to inspect for ice
tried your video but was scared to take the freezer compressor clips off. can u help?
Yeah, the hardest part is yanking that large white cover off, if you pry it like I showed in the video you should be fine
Would thawing it out for a few hours fix it without removing anything??
Yes it would definitely fix it but then you'd have to put all your food somewhere while you are thawing out the fridge, and then you'd have a puddle of water behind the panel to clean up.

So just unplugging the fan resets it?
That's right
Is this a temporary fix. Mine comes back on after a couple of days once fixed and sometimes within a couple of hours

No I haven't had any issues and I've done this every few years. Did you get an OEM replacement fan?
Thank you! You saved me a repair bill. 👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome!

thank you for this vid. saved me lots of money.

I sure hope you were able to save the Blue Bell.
Sure did!
Thank you, your tutorial
was perfect!

I LOVE REFRIGERATORS : )
I know but the more they defrost to prevent this problem, the worse your ice cream will taste. :-)
Thank you kind sir your video saved the day! It is very much appreciated.
Glad to help!
Very good help Thank you very much

Champion 👍
You are my kind of friend!
Have you tried turning it off and on again? That works too.lol
That just resets the sensor and then since there is still ice on the sensor it will just error out again.
You lovin' the LG crap yet? "This one's short: lovin' the LG crap yet?
It hasn't been terrible, maybe just average at best
thanks
You're welcome!
NEVER DO THIS WITH THE POWER ON CONTROL BOARD IS 400.00 DOLARS
