One question I've been getting is "I can test the ice maker and it will dump with ice, but it won't do it automatically, only manually. Why is it doing this?" The answer: LG refrigerators are designed to only cycle the ice and icemaker if the temperature in the icemaker is at or below 10*F (-12*C). You need to get a thermometer and verify that the icemaker compartment is at or below this temperature. If it is not, then it won't run. This also means a sensor could be bad that'd otherwise register the correct thermometer-verified temperature. Hope this helps!
Hi Ben, I have a home sale pending on my ice maker working. I have no issues replacing the ice maker but I am not so sure it is the cause. I have an LG LMX25984ST/00. The water line is working to fill the ice tray and the cubes are freezing, the arm comes out but never dumps the ice and I hear a constant motor running. I took off the cover and reinstalled it so I can watch during a test cycle. I can see the arm coming out and the gears turning, and hear the water filling, etc. I put a temp sensor in the ice bin with remote display and will check temp after a few hours. I ruled out water line issues but not sure if it is a temp sensor issue or the ice maker motor issue. If the temp is the issue, would the motor sound continuously trying to dump ice with the arm out? where is the temp sensor in this refrigerator? I want to check voltages but I don't have a schematic. I would gladly pay a consult fee for your help. I can't believe the sale of my house is dependent on a working ice maker. TIA Diana

Where is the icemaker thermostat located? I have a lfx31925st that I'd like to fix the ice maker on. Keeps filling and producing ice but I have to manually use the test button to get it to dump. I assume it must be the bad thermostat you speak of.
Thanks! I'm a lady landlord, and my tenant called to report that the lce Maker on her LG fridge stopped working. I found your video and used it to help me troubleshoot. You gave me the confidence to try to fix it rather than pay hundreds of dollars to a technician. Turns out that there was some ice stuck under the tray that prevented it from flipping. I melted the ice with my hair dryer and did the reset. I just checked with my tenant again today, and she said the ice maker is still working.
Thank you. My problem was solved by 2:50 (I didn’t even know it had a reset button!). Random guys showing us stuff like this on the internet is a godsend!
Ben you presented everything so well when I compared yours with other videos!!! You were very informative, easy to understand and gave me the information that was needed. I just replaced the LG ice maker assembly and had issues. If others viewers are replacing the Ice maker auger assembly be sure to look to confirm if you have the 3 prong plug and socket connectors or the 10 plug and socket connectors. YOU MUST REMOVE THE assembly to visually make sure with one your LG had installed. The 3 prong plug and socket connectors also has a long green wire to the auger motor as seen on this video. The part on Amazont is AEU73110203 not AEU73110205 (no long green wire. I didn't read carefully enough and added extra time getting the correct part for the repair. After replacing the assembly I had no water till after I watched your video. I push the reset button as suggested and it filled as soon as I had the door closed. I have owned the LG for about 7 years and never knew there was a reset button. Thanks Again, Ray
Thanks for making this easy-to-understand video and for mentioning the test button. I hope this will get the ice maker working again. The icemaker is filling with water but may not be dumping on its own. Remains to be seen. Thanks for your instructions.
I was getting frost in the freezer (due to seal). I noticed ice build up on both bottom drawers due to the air getting in the freezer therefor stopping the ice maker. Once I chipped at the old frost and allowed it to be "frost fee" again.... I pulled the clear plastic door ice bucket from door and reset the rear test button and now I see water pouring into the ice tray. You are the man....THANK YOU!
Dude... you are my hero! I'm not sure exactly what I did (other than to mimic everything you showed me), but the ice maker is working again. Probably the reset, but how nice to not have to pay someone to do this for me. God bless you!
This is the beat video I have seen explaining the function, testing and explaining how to identify the locations of all its components and their removal and replacement. This is the first video to show the location of the water storage tank. Excellent!
Thank you! My icemaker was leaking and then stopped making ice. It turns out the air vents were blocked by the plastic from a bag in the fridge, so the water wasn't freezing. Thank you, again. This video was very informative.
I have the LG ThinQ. Went out of town and emptied the bucket and shut the ice maker off. Came back and it wouldn't make ice. No water. Hit the reset like you explained and ran a cycle. Came back to life. Thank you
Great video, in the past ice maker stopped producing ice but started a couple days later. It stopped again, checked water supply then saw your video. I didn't know about the test button. Pressed it and it cycled and filled with water. Simple correction but not shown in user's manual. Thanks.
Wow...Kudus to this Right To The POINT video clip. Best out there! Mine not making ice for a long time and I tried water filter, pipes, valves what not but no avid. Ice try was empty for a long time and I thought water is not getting there. Just saw your clip twice, did the recycling test by pressing that hidden bottom, once, Heard and saw water filling the tray again!!! Back to business and than you a million not have to call the greedy local repair person as it is off the warranty and good I didn't order a new complete icemaker! You are the man. No need to mention, LIKED, SUBSCRIBED, am writing a comment, HIT the BELL, and WILL recommend this channel to all friends and family.🙏🙏
I only trust people who tell me that I need to take apart the “ice making system” of my $2000 refrigerator - IF they’re wearing a Slayer shirt. In a pinch, a Godsmack shirt will suffice, but only in the event of a real emergency
Thanks! I didn't know why the fridge wasn't dumping ice. We had a power outage-I thought this was the missing link. After watching this video I knew where the reset was located. I reset the ice maker and it dumbed the ice cubes and filled! Let's hope the ice maker will continue producing ice since power is back. Thanks again!
Thanks for this video! Question, I've tried power cycling the ice maker, the tray doesn't try to move at all when I turn it on. It also doesn't do anything when I push the test button. Makes me think that maybe the motor is gone. Any tips? I'd really hate to have to buy a new ice maker.
Thank you for your video. It is very informative. I have the same model you demonstrated in this video. The last part of your show when you pointed out the 2 holes that release the cold air into the ice maker compartment. Mine was the bottom hole of the two did not blow the cold air out. Can you help me to understand why? Thank you.
Your video was very great and easy to follow. The ice tray won’t even attempt to dump circle when I turned on the power button, worse off the ice maker tray won’t move when I press on the ice maker button. What can I do?
Terrific video. It is actually quite easy to remove and replace this ice maker, thanks to this video. The initial troubleshooting looking for the rotation of the ice cube mold helped to immediately confirm my old ice maker needs replacement. Saved the time and cost of bringing a repair person to our home!
Thank you so very much. This is exactly what I needed for our brand new LG refrigerator. The ice cube tray was clogged and I had to indeed press that test button to get that tray to dump as it would not dispense ice now works perfectly. Thank you so much!
I like the voiceover. Repair videos just seem more professional when there’s a voiceover. It gives it a really good crisps consistent sound throughout the video. I need to do voiceovers for my repair videos.
The #1 reason I do it is because I suck at ad-libbing. A long time ago on these videos, I wanted to do a voice-over and screwed up like... 5 takes. Just couldn't do it. Now when I voice-over, I'm reading a script I write. That way I have a better idea of what I want to say, and have to do way ,way less takes to get it right. It sounds better and let's me create the content faster. Doing it real-time for some videos is better and absolutely faster, but when you're doing some difficult things you can't always talk and work at the same time. Also, I run a shop so the number of times I got a worker talking to me while I'm filming is higher than you'd think
Glad I found this video. I took out my icemaker, let sit out for like 2 hours in case something was frozen preventing it from rotating upside right. I cleaned the ice tray and put it back in and it worked.
Hi Ben. I have an LG refrigerator almost identical to the one in your video. Any tips on the freezer drawer's ice maker? I reset the power button and also hit the test button and it functioned fine. But it still isn't producing any ice. Water lines are fine and not plugged.
Thank you for such wonderful and simple guidance! Is there a separate fan that blows the air through the door? If so, where is it located, how can I test if it's working, and is it replaceable?
Ben, Excellent video with super clear illustrations. I have a LG Frige, model # LMXC23796S. Its water dispensing is fine. Issue is ice dispensing - after pushing the ice plate, no cranking sound, no motor sound and no ice coming out. Yet plenty of ice inside the door bucket. Will I have faulty micro switch or motor or push plate mechanism? Where are they located and how to isolate the problem? Thank ahead
@@verondaalvarado5812 Yes, mine was the Push bar inside (behind the control plate) plastic mechanism broke which could not properly press on the micro switch. This is because users used too much force banned on the push bar. Unfortunately there is no separate "plastic mechanism" available/sold. I had to buy the entire panel assy to replace the entire assy. I was lucky found a new assy on ebay for $125. Replacing the assy , you can find procedures on youtube and just be very careful to do it. Your case may be different - could be micro switch or cracking motor. If your push plate is loose and too much play side way, then you have plastic mechanism broke inside.
@@f1176 yes I had to contact LG. They replaced the motor because mine was broken. If it's not humming continuously when you push the dispenser that could be the issue.
This is a great video and very informative. One question I have is, my LG ice maker does not have an external on/off switch like the one shown here, as well as other LG videos I have seen. How should I proceed?
Many thanks - I was not getting water to my ice maker and was convinced that this was an issue with pipes being frozen or that tank in the bottom of the door was being defective. A reset from the reset button triggered the water to be dispensed- just so you know! Its not obvious in any instructions that the water supply will be reset as well. Many thanks - best video out there🎉
Hey Ben. Thanks for the video. We’ve had the same LG refrigerator as you for 6 years and it has had the same problem for the entire time. We’ve had the LG guy out to look at it twice. Each time they replaced something but it does the same. The thing makes ice but the area below the auger and above the drop doors gets clogged with ice. When this happens you can sometimes stick your fingers up through the drop area and jiggle the ice loose but mostly you have to remove the ice maker/auger assembly. This is problematic as the ice mounds up at the bottom of the assembly and blocks it from removing easily. It is guaranteed ice is going all over the floor. You then have to dig the ice out of the hole in the door. This happens usually twice a week (for 6 years). Any suggestions?
@@pamsutton1532 no we haven’t. Strange thing is we left for 10 days a couple of weeks ago. We we returned I figured all the ice would be frozen in one big clump but it worked perfectly. I have no idea. I also contacted LG and they were useless. They offered to send a repair person out that I would have to pay for. Given that two others couldn’t fix it I said no. Good luck and if you figure anything out, please come back and let me know.
Thank you so much! I found a large chunk of white foam in my ice and couldn't figure out what was going on till I found this video then noticed my temp sensor hanging down. Thank you so much!
Excellent video, all the details I was looking for on this setup- I was expecting the bit of ice cube spillage when I pushed the test button thanks to the helpful caution in the video, but didn't expect the drop of the freshly filled tray of water when I pushed it a second time just to watch it work again. Should have put a cup in the door when I tested it the second time- At least I know there's no problem with the water delivery now..
Your video is definitely one of the better ones. Thanks you. My icemaker (LG Refrigerator model LFXS26973S) intermittently makes a very loud knocking noise. Checked water--good. Actually caught it making knocking noise , opened icemaker door. I saw the ice maker tray trying to dump ice, but tthe ice would not drop. It looked like there had been too much water and it froze over the top of the tray forming one, thick sheet of ice. I performed the test and it appeared to function correctly except again, it would not dump ice. I reached under and broke the ice sheet and ice pieces rained down. At that point, the tray returned to its place and began filling with water. side note, I have on occasion seen where what appears to be excess water from the tray form ice on the bin below, like its overflowing .
Great video. I'm having an issue with the ice maker leaking upon fill up. When using the test button and watching as the tray fills with water, some water flows between the tray and the plastic that holds the tray in place. Secondly, when the tray has ice in it and then spins to dispense the ice, the ice sometimes does not dump out of the tray and the unit makes a horrible loud pounding sound as if it's stuck. It's not stuck, it rotates but sometimes the ice does not come out. These issues seem tied together. I do notice some ice forms where the overflow happens and perhaps prevents the tray from turning fully. So, the problem seems to emanate from the filling process, as if there's too much water going into the tray. Any ideas on how to regulate this?
Check water pressure going to fridge. If its over-filling, its possible valve (from supply to fridge) is too high. Maybe try lowering/shutting off valve slightly.
I had the same issue . Fixed: the clear plastic cup that guides the water to the tray. cracked mounting tabs on the cup . it was out of alignment preventing the ice tray to dump correctly causing icemaker to Distortion in test mode. I Removed the ice maker and repaired the tabs using scrap plastic. And some clear tape. Replaced the screws ..now ice maker operates smooth in test mode... Thanks Ben for this great video ...
Hey Ben, Thanks for the video. My issue was that the ice was freezing but not dumping automatically, I had to press that reset button for a couple of seconds to activate the manual dump. I checked all my gaskets and ice chute flap, all good. I threw a thermometer in my freezer overnight and it was a good 0 degrees. It was bugging me so I pulled my fridge forward and checked the back for dust bunnies. I know I cleaned that area last year or so. I noticed dust again on the coils and surrounding areas so I vacuumed those out BUT as I'm looking around towards the bottom inside of the floor area, I saw some vents that faces the floor completely clogged so I cleared those out as well and I left it alone overnight. I woke up to a half full ice bucket! It worked and I also noticed that my freezer temperature is reaching -4 now. One thing to mention; Be patient, as the ice falls into you ice bucket, it helps cool the ice maker area to trigger the auto dump. Hope this helps others with this same issue. Good Luck!
Great video, thanks! Any idea why the ice maker may not be initiating a dump cycle (ever)? It's making ice, and when I run the manual dump cycle as you show, it does so without any problems--it just won't trigger a dump cycle itself when the ice is complete. I've tried power cycling and unplugging the whole fridge to reset. Thanks!
Bro you just saved me! new LG Fridge delivered today and I was wondering why the door ice maker wasn’t even filling up with water after several hours. Pushed the test button and it started up. Thank you!
Please read your manual. It will save you a lot of time and frustration, because there's no way it'll tell you that it will fill up after a few hours. It takes quite some time for the unit to fully cool to engage the cycle.
Hey! This is a great video and explanation. I would suggest you mention the top screw and retaining plastic ring when removing the unit. It should be loosened some before sliding whole unit out. And then snugged back up at the end! :)
Odd. I coulda swore I mentioned that during the video, as I know that was one thing I had to do during filming (its mentioned on the icemaker bulletin on the door I mention at the end)
Hey Ben, I've got this ice maker and it got intermittent dispensing ice the last 2 days. Now it doesn't dispense ice & the light doesn't light up when I push the ice lever. Any suggestions?
Thanks a million Ben. You've saved me a lot of bucks by manually re-setting the mechanism and it's producing ice now. We don't know these things unless shown. Cheers. Kelvin.
WARNING. He says to "push" the tab to remove the lower water reservoir cover. DO NOT DO THIS, it will break the tab and you'll need to buy a whole new reservoir cover. Without this tab, the cover will flop open when you open the door, even when the top screw is replaced. I suggest using needle nose plyers and carefully squeeze and twist the tab to work it out of the hole.
GREAT VIDEO! THANK YOU! I have replaced the ice maker unit before but now I have a no water problem with the ice maker…will check the inlet pump on the bottom of the door.
Awesome video! I am currently experiencing a different issue then what I see in the comments. When I hit the test button, it will fill the ice tray with water and after freezing the water and making it into ice, it will dump it properly. However, after this happens, it seems as if there is a sensor or something not working because it doesn't put water into the ice tray unless I push the test button. Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks for the great Video Ben! The issue I’m having is that once you depress the release ice panel in front of the fridge it gets locked down and ice just keeps pouring out. Anyone know what the problem could be? Or which piece to replace. Ice making is fine, dispensing (or stopping dispensing) is the problem...
I had an issue a few years ago with my LG fridge where after I would dispense ice and take away the cup from the big button that triggers ice to dispense and it would continue dispensing ice as if my cup were still pressed against that dispense button. There were no indications on the front panel that something was locked. Long story short, a technician had to replace the control board and I have never had that issue since *knock on wood*
Sounds like some water dripped down and froze a mechanism that's can't move now. Try taking the whole thing out and cleaning it up. Also try damping down your water flow so it comes in slower.
This is an excellent video Ben. Thanks for posting it. The issue we are having is, if we don't dispense the ice daily/regularly, the ice in the tray eventually solidfies into a solid block ot two of ice, forcing us to open the ice maker unit and break it down manually, which is messy and not ideal. Is it possible that the warmer air from the fridge is getting into the ice maker compartment and slowly melting the ice into these solid blocks. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Our model is a lfx28968st /04
Thanks for the Test Button info. I was able to get my LG door ice maker to dump and re-fill. Time will tell if it returns to normal operation, or i have more troubleshooting ahead.
I dont know if what I saw fixes the problem Im experiences. The noice my LG ice maker/refrigerator is making sounds like someone is knocking to get out of the icebox. What needs to be done?
I'd check to make sure ice tray is working fine, and the motor is working properly. Did it make the noise during test? If so, try to isolate what part's making the noise.
I have tested the ice maker and put in a new water filter. The motor works, but the ice maker is not filling with water. The water dispenser does work though. Any ideas?
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! My ice maker stopped working after I turned it and the water off for a week while away on vacation. Nothing I tried worked, but the test button you pointed out at index 146 fixed it! Once again, Thank you!
My ice maker is making ice just fine but when I try to request ice and I push the ice button on the door, there is no sound and no ice falls. I purchased and replaced the whole unit as show. In this video, and still the ice maker continues to make ice but it will not come out through the dispenser. Any help is greatly appreciated.
This is an excellent video and it definitely helped me check into what might be the culprit. I'm sure you're no longer responding to questions, but I'll throw it out there amyway. I'm so frustrated with our LG LMXS28626S. Suddenly stopped making ice yesterday. This model doesn't seem to have an ice tray dump test button, which is a bummer. When I opened the water reservoir at the bottom, the tank is empty. I can still get water out of the door, but not ice. You mentioned the tank area and how to get into it in this video, but I've no idea which of these components might need to be replaced.
Thank you this was helpful. I did the button test and saw that the rotating ice tray jams on the right side and does it rotate entirely on our BRAND NEW LG FRIDGE. we’ve had it for less than an hour and a half.
Very informative video...and great shirt too. Question: so my ice maker makes ice just fine, but won't dispense the ice. Can I just replace the auger motor or do I have to replace the entire ice maker assembly?
I tried everything you outlined in the video. Everything is working as it should except the ice make is not dumping the ice into the bin. Any suggestions on next steps? Thanks for your thorough video. Very helpful.
Thank you !! Video has helped , didn't know where the reset button was. No water was going to icemaker. After I hit reset, it filled with water. So now I will wait and see !! Great video !!
Thanks for this info. My ice tray has only water in it so, you reckon this something to do with the thermostat? Is there a way to check this please? I have got -16° showing on my display.
So my friend, my LG the one that's on your video is very similar to mine if not exact and I would like to know what I can do about my ice maker which makes ice but will not rotate to dump the ice once it is frozen solid. Should I just get a new ice maker and replace it or can I troubleshoot it
Thanks Ben! My ice maker began to dump ice no stop it will not stop unless I opened the door( ice and water). Thanks to you I did a reset and all is well. Why would the motor jam even in the off position.
Hi, I sae your video that seems very helpful. I have replaced the whole assembly and still no ice making. Unable to understand what I need to do next. Thanks for your recommendation.
Thank you !! We havr ice again!!! I dont know what helped but i took all parts apart Warmed it with the hair dryer, wiped it down and re assembled and now its working again. After one year!!! Thank you
Thank you for your great explanation I’ll gonnna try to fix it my self . I have this issue of not making ice since i bought it. The technician came and did not fix it. The ice never fill to the top and after making a batch take about 2-3hours to make it again 😫😫
Thank you. I just received my fridge yesterday and couldn't get the door ice maker to work. I used the test button and it filled the tray. I'm so glad you made this video.😄
If you just got the refrigerator, it takes a few days to fully cool down the freezer compartment. The cold air from the freezer channels into the icemaker, which freezes ice. If the refrigerator isn't cold enough (under 10*F) it won't trigger automatic cycles yet. So I'd give it a few more days before you get too worried.
My new LG fridge was not filling the ice tray. I pushed the test button, and it filled it up right after it finished the test cycle. Thanks for the video!
Great video. I have an LG fridge like the one in your video and my ice maker is not working. My water dispenser still works, so does that mean that my water reservoir is ok and that the issue is actually with the ice maker itself?
Very informative video. We’re making ice, but it won’t dispense. I’ve unclogged the chute, but still won’t dispense. Plenty of ice in the tray, just won’t drop the ice. Any suggestions?
Ben. Do you know the issue if around the ice maker water is dripping from? Freezing up around ice maker and dispenser bin ice maker workers dropping ice cubes but like said water freeze around bin
Great information and details. I do have an issue. My tray runs normally when I test it, but does not rotate or dump the ice in normal operation mode. Changed the filter, etc. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Great video. I am having problems with the craft ice maker located in the freeezer. It has unit working and the unit is only 15 months old. I have tried the basics of power cycling the lower unit and changing the settings, still no craft ice, any suggestions?
Thanks very helpful to find the button below. I noticed that my ice maker didn’t rotate on its own to dump the frozen ice. Water kicked back on and filled the bucket so let’s see if it automatically dumps out the new ice.
Great video. However I still have a problem with mine that I hope you can help me resolve. My unit will no longer dispense water or ice cubes. Guessing I have a failed switch in that mechanism. Do you have experience with this problem and suggestions on the fix?
My Ice maker stopped a making ice, manual test button didn't work, and before I was about to spend 150 on the ice unit I just did a good old unplug the entire fridge freezer pressed a few buttons to try to discharge all residual juice and plugged it back in and it worked. Start with the easiest fix first. I'm happy not to have done any real work and saved some money too. Figured I would contribute since I watched this video it could help someone as well.
One question I've been getting is "I can test the ice maker and it will dump with ice, but it won't do it automatically, only manually. Why is it doing this?"
The answer: LG refrigerators are designed to only cycle the ice and icemaker if the temperature in the icemaker is at or below 10*F (-12*C). You need to get a thermometer and verify that the icemaker compartment is at or below this temperature. If it is not, then it won't run. This also means a sensor could be bad that'd otherwise register the correct thermometer-verified temperature.
Hope this helps!

This is the beat video I have seen explaining the function, testing and explaining how to identify the locations of all its components and their removal and replacement. This is the first video to show the location of the water storage tank. Excellent!
Thanks!
Thank you! My icemaker was leaking and then stopped making ice. It turns out the air vents were blocked by the plastic from a bag in the fridge, so the water wasn't freezing. Thank you, again. This video was very informative.
Brilliant! Running the test cycle made my ice maker work again. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Make sure you’re wearing a Slayer shirt while you follow these instructions.
“ Raining Ice”
That shirt is awesome!
I’d trust a dude in a Slayer shirt.
I only trust people who tell me that I need to take apart the “ice making system” of my $2000 refrigerator - IF they’re wearing a Slayer shirt. In a pinch, a Godsmack shirt will suffice, but only in the event of a real emergency
I need to get that shirt!
The best description of this system that I have seen. Excellent video.
Thank you for this! It was exactly what we were looking for and helped solve our icemaker issue. You rock!
Almost the same issue here, the tray does its little motion when I power cycle it, but holding down the test button doesn't do anything.
Have the same problem. Have not found any solutions
I've never seen such an elegant metal shirt. Slayer! 🤘
I noticed that too fatcat!!! He wants to be formal and metal lol
Thank ahead
I am having the same problem! Were u able to find a solution?
@@verondaalvarado5812 did you fix this issue? Mine is doing the same thing 😬
@@f1176 yes I had to contact LG. They replaced the motor because mine was broken. If it's not humming continuously when you push the dispenser that could be the issue.
Super helpful. Learning about the test button saved me lots of time in diagnosing the problem. Thanks
This is a great video and very informative. One question I have is, my LG ice maker does not have an external on/off switch like the one shown here, as well as other LG videos I have seen. How should I proceed?
Thank u!! Haven’t had ice in a year, plumbers couldn’t figure it out but I did thanks to your video! 🎉
I am having the same issue. We’re you able to solve?
Excellent video, all the details I was looking for on this setup-
I was expecting the bit of ice cube spillage when I pushed the test button thanks to the helpful caution in the video, but didn't expect the drop of the freshly filled tray of water when I pushed it a second time just to watch it work again. Should have put a cup in the door when I tested it the second time- At least I know there's no problem with the water delivery now..
X2👍😅😅
Thanks!
Same thing happening to me, I haven't found a solution to this issue yet 😓
Me too. I'd love to hear an answer thanks!

SAME HERE.
I'm just here to compliment you on the shirt. Fukkin Slayer!
This person is very easy to understand. He sure helped us and certainly saved us $. Thank you!
Do you have a video describing how to test the door display? I replaced the peeling display cover and may have shorted it!
Following. A coupl eof buttons (like the ice plus) aren't responding when pushed.

I am having the same issue...
Did it do the same when you select water? Maybe the flapper switch is getting stuck. Can you pull it forward to stop?
Same issue here
I had an issue a few years ago with my LG fridge where after I would dispense ice and take away the cup from the big button that triggers ice to dispense and it would continue dispensing ice as if my cup were still pressed against that dispense button.
Excellent video! My issue is it is not filling up water. Any suggestion what to do/replace? Thanks!
I have the same problem.
simply bad engineering
Thanks for the Test Button info. I was able to get my LG door ice maker to dump and re-fill. Time will tell if it returns to normal operation, or i have more troubleshooting ahead.
I dont know if what I saw fixes the problem Im experiences. The noice my LG ice maker/refrigerator is making sounds like someone is knocking to get out of the icebox. What needs to be done?
I'd check to make sure ice tray is working fine, and the motor is working properly. Did it make the noise during test? If so, try to isolate what part's making the noise.

Holding the reset button got mine working, thank you!
Thank you this was helpful. I did the button test and saw that the rotating ice tray jams on the right side and does it rotate entirely on our BRAND NEW LG FRIDGE. we’ve had it for less than an hour and a half.
Best video ever! Test button fixed my problem.
Very informative video...and great shirt too. Question: so my ice maker makes ice just fine, but won't dispense the ice. Can I just replace the auger motor or do I have to replace the entire ice maker assembly?
Thank you. I’m pretty handy but, your quick concise video, didn’t waste my time, and help me troubleshoot the issue.
I tried everything you outlined in the video. Everything is working as it should except the ice make is not dumping the ice into the bin. Any suggestions on next steps?
Thanks for your thorough video. Very helpful.

So I'd give it a few more days before you get too worried.

holding ice maker button solved the problem! Thanks!!!!!!

I have an LG fridge like the one in your video and my ice maker is not working. My water dispenser still works, so does that mean that my water reservoir is ok and that the issue is actually with the ice maker itself?
